Here's a run down of some things happening in the community.
• Capcom confirmed that they will show off new characters for Marvel vs. Capcom 3 at the Tokyo Game Show, Sept. 16 — 19. Announcements could come earlier though, as Niitsuma suggested players keep their eyes peeled leading up to TGS. Marvel's Chris Baker added that there are, "all kinds of new reveals," coming.
• Marvel vs. Capcom 3 will be playable at this weekend's PAX West expo, according to the Unity website. It doesn't sound like there are any major announcements planned for this event, but a few minor details will probably spring up.
• The PlayStation Network version of Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo HD Remix is 50% off, now $7.49, original price $14.99.
• Hori announced on Facebook that they're bringing their line of Real Arcade Pro V series joysticks to the United States. No word on when this will be available, though, but Hori said 'soon'. Via Shoryuken.
• Street Fighter 4 is briefly featured in the new iPod Touch commercial. Sent in by Whitey_Deluca.

This is the perfect opportunity to announce a Monster Hunter character. MHP 3rd will be there in demo form and the japanese get their first hands on experience with the game. Sounds like the pieces are all in place. Now I just need to hope that's what actually happens lol.

#5 i don't see why they would use Frank West when Dead Rising 2 has a completely different character. Wouldn't it make more sense to use the new guy instead? Besides Frank is in TvC.
Spiderman is puzzling to me, why isn't the "Ryu" of the Marvel Universe announced yet? Could there be licensing issues with Activision since the own the rights for Spider-Man games and their newest game goes on sale within weeks?

Spider-Man was hinted at in an interview some weeks back and his very obvious silhouette was in the Marvel logo of one of the trailers, he's definitely making it in. I heard they just want to wait until Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions is released, which is less than a week from now. I have a feeling we'll be seeing him at Tokyo Game Show.

Capcom believes that frank west has some kind of iconic status
in western countries, which is in part true, but not to the extent they think. In my opinion frank is still more recognizable than chuck greene.

Probably get four to six new characters, along with episode two trailer and game play footage of the newly announced characters. Characters most likely to be revealed would be Spiderman/Frank West and C.Viper/Marvel female, either Storm, Ms. Marvel, or She Hulk. If they do six I'm guessing we'll probably get a Megaman character for Capcom and on Marvel side...well I don't know, because the Marvel side is a lot harder to predict.

Capcom is promoting this game in an odd way. You would think megaman would have been revealed with ryu wolverine and the others in the first trailer since he is the face of capcom. Its like nintendo showing off brawl without mario being in the first trailer, or hudson not showing bomberman in fighters dream mix tv's first trailer. Oh well I just hope the final roster is very good

I predict Spiderman, Frank West, C.Viper and Silver Surfer to be revealed at TGS.
It's probably going to be regular Spiderman, but I hope it's either Symbiotic suit or Spiderman 2099.
I predict Silhouettes of Storm and other Marvel females who would show up.
But if it's 30 characters only that means it's only 12 more to go 6 more from both sides.

They are sticking to the regular universe, so no 2099 or symbiote. Besides, those fit better as alt costume.
I also doubt they will reveal Surfer(That thing was fake after all, so he might not be in at all).
Also, 30 isn't the final number.

It would make sense to reveal Spider-Man and Frank West together, they both have the same day job. I hope they make a really goofy trailer about it, featuring the "spinning newspaper" trope.

I hope the alt colors in the game turn out to be more like costumes. Chris can have the different RE5 costumes, one has Punisher(or just have the punisher skull shirt really), and one that makes him look like Cable. Because oh god, he do not need Cable in this game.
As for Spiderman, Ryu, etc. They don't have to be total drastic model changes, just some well done coloring and maybe a new accessory added to the model.

Where's the info that says more than 30 characters, I hope you are right. If the Silver Surfer is fake that means it would be another Marvel Character revealed, either way it's good news-as long it's not Bone Claws Wolverine lol. Like I said it would probably be regular Spiderman-he was posted on Wikipedia given the source from Kotaku's site as the basic Spiderman, but it was removed very quickly. I just think it would be cool to see Spiderman is something different given the fact to wait this long for him to be announced. I think it would be 4 characters anounced there's a lot of comic conventions and gaming conventions going on in September.

Activision owns spiderman for games I believe but yet.... not the marvel license so they might not only have to go through marvel for him.
So spiderman might not even be in the game at all just as in balloon form (IE the stage in the game now) but im sure the characters they will reveal will be at least C viper and a female marvel character but thats my guess also frank west if... Yeah i read the Capcom comments over their opinion of Frank, can't say i see that where i am but oh well, lol. The other guy just needs more time to shine i think. I wonder why they left Frank out of DR2 if they feel that he is soooo important and iconic, it makes no sense

That doesn't confirm anything. There's a MML themed level but Tron Bonne or MM Trigger (Volnutt) isn't guaranteed though. I don't see why Spidey wouldn't make it in though.

Its so obvious spidy is in the game. Besides his balloon and big advertisement of him on the building, the stage being in new york, the daily bugle signs. The stage looks like a mix between his msh stage and mvc1 stage. Didn't capcom say the stages in the game belong to specific characters in the game?

@42 they said levels are built around characters in the game. Not every character has one but all levels have a character to go with it. So far chris,spider man, and that S.H.I.E.L.D. one (captain america? it could be a lot of people).

NO, Activision does not own Spiderman they are just given the rights to use Spiderman in their games. Otherwise, Spiderman movies and etc would have Activision logos instead of Marvel logos.
There is already a Silhouette of Spiderman. Marvel vs Capcom 2 was done in the same year when Activision (the publishing company) done a Spiderman game. They were both done in the year 2000.

My predictions for the next announcements in the TGS:
Capcom
i) Frank West
ii) C.Viper
MARVEL
i) Spider-man (regular costume, maybe with the symbiote to unblock in the game. It would be great).
ii) Storm or Ms. Marvel: It's obvious that Marvel needs to show a female character. Currently, the 9 characters we know are males. I don't think She-hulk will be in the game, my bet is for these two and a third one, but not mutant or X-girl, maybe Elektra or Black Widow (don't forget that she's on fashion now thanks to the Iron Man movies with the Scarlet Johansson role, and she is going to appear in the next Avengers movie, Marvel needs to launch the character).
The Silver Surfer image is a fake.
