Juicebox Abel is back with another episode of the Juicy Bits Podcast over on BLGaming.com. This one goes into the basics of zoning and footsies, some specifics about individual matchups, and touches on zoning in those dreaded mirror matches. As per the request of many of the Juicy Bits fans, the role of his co-host has been limited this time around - taking the cast back to it's roots by providing a more strategy rich session.
In the style of the Juicy Bits series, the final portion of the cast has been dedicated to answering some of the questions sent to Juicebox about SSF4. If you have a question for Juice, and would like a chance to get it answered on the show, feel free to write him directly at juiceboxabel@gmail.com.
I have to admit, at first I didn't like the format with Roanne(sp?), but she really grew on me. Sort of sad to hear that she's not playing as big a role. Regardless, great podcast. Keep it up.
So Juicebox quit his job to pursue his SF career? Really smart move. I'm sure that will turn out great.
I can't say I'm surprised though. What do you expect from a guy who:
1) Wears a fingerless glove on his hand while playing, which serves no purpose (despite whatever his excuse is)
2) Acts out every ultra he lands like an effeminate 4 yr old boy
3) "Bobs and weaves" between rounds in tournament matches like he's an actual fighter. I don't care if it's part of his "focus" or whatever, it's just... really really douchey.
Why are you guys trying to make it sound like he won't try and get another job? It's not like he can move to Cali and live off of nothing. He's not really moving to "play more Street Fighter" but rather have a better Street Fighter scene. And how is Juicebox douchey? He enjoys playing the game and gets into it. I fail to see how that makes someone a douche.
@ #5: Exactly! Apparently having the ability to enjoy simpler things makes you a douche. Personally, I love the Juicebox dance, and I have a lot of respect for him. People like him, Gootecks, Spooky, and the like are such unsung heroes in the SF community. They're constantly doing their best to give newer, less experience players information and advice to improve, taking a lot of their own time to do so.
Juicebox is at least trying to strengthen the community with knowledge.
What's the deal with SSF4 players being so anti-vagina. Its borderline homoerotic.
I have to admit, I didn't really see the need for the female host in these podcasts for a while. But after listening to this episode, I wish she'd come back and play a more prominent role. Juicebox has so much knowledge that if someone isn't there to spell him, he is prone to rambling on and on. This might be the first time he has lost my attention--normally he's so clear and easy to follow.
What most of you haters fail to realize is that these guys DON'T HAVE TO GIVE YOU TIPS! All this information is free. Im sure if you wanted to play Pro Basketball you would want free tips from the pros, but where you gonna get that? Exactly.
Be greatful.
Too many haters. Juicebox mentions he's leaving his home to go to pursue his own thing and people jump on him and start hating, so lame.
He's doing what he loves and I'm sure he'll find another job. The best SF players are in California, and like Justin Wong and Marn you're seeing more people go west so they can play against the best.
People should be patting Juicebox on the back for being so gutsy. Not only does he run a FREE podcast for the benefit of the community, but he's willing to do a lot of stuff to pursue his dreams. If only other people weren't such sheep and stayed at jobs and places they hate because they feel stuck.
Real movers and shakers go against the grain and that's how the people who are the most successful in life get there, not by doing what everyone else does and staying at jobs they hate.
@Struggs
Exactly, it takes far more balls and effort to actually get off your fat ass and pursue what you really want in life than just sitting in front of a computer hating on people.
Good luck to Juicebox, it must have been a tough decision but I hope all goes well for him.
Maybe he didnt like his job that much and wants a new one, whynot move?
Juicebox is one of the best additions to the community that exist at this stage. A guy whose purely in it for the game, doing what he really enjoys and less for the fame it brings (I'm looking at you, Gootecks). He also makes an effort to get information to the community without asking for much back.
He's also one of the underdogs people love to root for. I hope he does much better in future tournaments.
At first I thought he was a bit "odd" due to his dances and so on, but after watching a few interviews and listening to his podcast he seems like an alright guy.
sad thing is, if she were a japanese girl speaking japanese the entire time, despite no one knowing what she was saying these posers would have wanted more of her because she "sounds hot"
