had to mute the commentators other than that excellent gameplay.
i take that back they chilled out 4 mins into the vid
More corny mvc2 videos(mag vs storm teams zzzzzz)I'm tired of this game and hope mvc3 don't become the same way. I mean look at em fat dudes in the crowd in the start of the video! Get up and go for a walk in between practicing all those infinite combos.
Ok, obviously these guys are great MvC2 players, but that how are those fights even entertaining. These guys are some of the best players in the world, yet they play over and over withe broken op characters, as if they can't play good with anyone else, which is when it breaks down into a game of chance basically with whoever hitting the first combo turning it to an infinite that kills the match
hahaha Scorp I was thinkin the same thing just was annoyed at the way this game is basically Children of the Atom with 3-on-3 fighting since the X-Men cast are nearly the only ones used to their broken abilities
The game would be better if you didn't see the same damn thing over and over and over and over. This is a game, strictly on tier-whoring. There's other characters that can be used effectively.
Look at Sagat in IV, yeah his ass was broken, but, you could still win.
It gets old quick when they use the same dam characters,it makes the fights one dimensional and non exiting when they do that,I would be more impressed if they mixed it up a bit.Overall im not too impressed with the performance of suposed worlds best players, I seriously think...no I know without a doubt I can easily compete with these guys and i dont have to pick the same boring team over and over again.If your a good player you can change your entire team and still kick ass.@#9 if you practice with ANY character you can get good enough to compete with them.
I lol'd in one of those vids where they say "most C2 players don't respect SSF4" yeah because there is no OP tier in that game.

Look guys, your opinion on what is considered good and not good gameplay means nothing. You have to play the game for what it is, follow it's rules, not what you want it to be, not how you want it to look. If other characters could compete, top players would have found this out already. So therefor anyone who thinks that these top players are broken-tier whoring and/or think they can beat them, play and prove it or STFU. Nobody in the competitive fighting game community cares about whether someone is tierwhoring, doing broken things like infinites, etc, and nor should they. They should care about learning out to fight and beat all the stuff so they can win. If you don't like how the game plays out, then fine, don't play it. Just don't go spouting off BS about this or that takes no skill, etc. Winning is skill, nothing more.
@#12
Yeah sure lol, I wish I could pull out 10% of the sh*t this guys do in every match.
It's fine if you don't like the game, but obviously you don't have the slightest clue what you're talking about if you think you can EASILY compete with this guys. The game takes A LOT of execution and speed/reaction time to play at the level this guys are at. Sure it's a tier whore fest and it can be boring if you don't know what's happening during the matches, but the game still takes hell of a lot of skill to play at that level.
@#20 lol,I know exactly whats going on,Iv been playing MVC2 since it first came out on dreamcast(still have it)and been playing fighting games since their inception:all capcom's,snk's,namcos,sega's,guilty gears blazblue(forgot that companys name),all capcom's vs series etc.Im speaking as a fan not a critique.Dont get me wrong im not hating on these players at all,mad respect for their skill,I was simply stating alot of them seem to use the same 5 tier characters as if they are the only good characters in a game with 56 available characters,thats all.And yes I know I can compete with players like this(which I know no one cares):P.@#16 sick video,you shut me up.
at 4:35 if you listen closely you can here the mortal kombat trilogy character select music
What? MvC2 is hype as hell, yeah there is broken sh*t, but these guys have played so long with this that it still becomes competitive and fun with the broken stuff. It's the first one to land certain moves that wins. It still takes crazy skill and I guarantee most of you would get bodied hardcore, so just because there are top tier teams don't mean it doesn't take skill.
@#21
Well, the thing is, those 5 or 6 characters are the best ones in the game, period. Like others have said, if there were better characters besides the 5 or 6 top tiers, I'm pretty sure after 10 years of competitive play someone would have figured it out already.
There were a couple of players at SBV that used other characters like Megaman, Strider, Doom and Black Heart, and I must say they were pretty impressive, but at the end they couldn't keep up with the top tiers.
@ookamunka
you get nothing more than a STFU right back...nobody's opinion matters but you still feel the need to point that out AND go off on your own stupid rant no less
anyway...no one ever said that it didn't take skill to win, but the thing is, if this game was about ALL skill, then the best players would be winning with anybody because skill trumps everything, right? Jackass.
and bullsh** competitive people don't care about tier lists and the like, because I'm betting everyone wouldn't pick MSP teams so often if there were other dominant teams (unless EVERYONE that plays MvC2 loves Magneto that much, I seriously doubt that people just choose to play with him because they like him...it's his DOMINANCE)
@gammabolt17
Since nothing in my little rant was in response had anything to do with what you said, I'm rather confused at what you are babbling about. Also what does "if this game was about ALL skill" even mean? Is ALL in caps some sort of magical description for what you think skill means? I never said skill trumps everything, I said winning is skill. Meaning that the only thing that matters if you can win in terms of determining who is good and not good. I also never said anything about competitive people caring about tier lists, I said they don't care about tierwhoring. These are TOURNAMENT videos, meaning that most important thing is winning, regardless of character they pick or tactics they choose.
But seriously, u mad? Cuz I didn't disagree with anything you said in your posts. And since you were either unclear as to what you are trying to say or misread what I said, I can't figure out what exactly you're trying to argue with me about.
no, but it seems like you were coming at anybody who said people pick the same characters. When I said ALL skill, what I was meaning was that it has a lot to do with who you pick, and not who how well you can play(majority of the time), because I mean, I can't play a MSP team with people I like to play with(Ken/Hulk/Cyke), because I have a more head-to-head style when using that team i.e. I will get raped, so I'm forced to play with other people I don't want to play with when I come across those type of teams (now when I fight a keepaway team, I'm usually screwed either way, but w/e). I mean really, do you think EVERY single pro-style tourney player WANTS to play with those teams, or do they play with them because they feel they NEED to pick them to win? These guys are pretty damn awesome at these games, I think that they would still own if they chose other teams, I'm not saying go bottom tier, but out of all the Marvel/Capcom chars, people only play with people that has still been around since the first game, it just gets tiring and I think that's all that people were saying, in a less long-winded manner, mind you.
p.s. I think I did kind of misread a few things you said, though, so my bad on that.
And I will definitely admit that there are only a few options if you do want to survive in a Marvel tournament. That is unfortunate as far as character variety, the matches themselves still represent top level play. For Marvel yeah some players might have wanted to play other characters because they liked other characters better, but they made their decision that winning dat money is more important than picking a weaker favorite. Marvel IMO has been around long enough that the players have figured out the majority of what there is to know in order for a character to be competetive. All of these top players don't just play their teams in casual play and practice, they play all kinds of other teams as well to try and find new stuff to introduce to the tournament level game. It's 10 years old, and it's played at an amazing level by the top players. There's also inherent traits found in the top tier which usually amounts to a character's mobility or ability to control space on the screen in some way. I would love to see new amazing gameplay from characters that haven't been utilized yet, but given the age of Marvel 2, I don't think that's really gonna happen.
I guess for me though, as long as a match is high level, I'll enjoy it, kinda like how I'll never tire of a good ryu vs. ryu fight in any game. I do hope that Marvel 3 ends up having a bigger character variety though, it would be IMO the one thing missing from Marvel 2 to make it a "perfect" fighter in the series.
Apologies to all if I sound snarky, I just think that such negative comments about why tournament players do certain things do nothing to help new players learn game and overcome obstacles instead of dismissing certain aspects not cool to do/pick/etc.
HOPE THEY dont have combos u cant break out of.....That sucks he got comboed and really couldn't do a thing about.Unlimited that sucks-Even el fuerte had his limits..
I want to see low fierce into super again.
