Capcom responded to a number of fans asking questions running from how good, or bad, Thor is in Marvel vs. Capcom 3, to if they had any plans to redo the original Street Fighter game.
I quizzed players about who the worst character in Marvel vs. Capcom 3 and they all said "Thor." Seth Killian and Niitsuma's response have been that players just don't understand him yet. What gives?
Rey Jimenez: Maybe he really is better than what people have found so far. For years, Magneto wasn't all that great in Marvel vs. Capcom 2 until people figured out how to play him and look where he ended up. Not saying that's definitely where Thor is headed, but you never know.
I'd like to see a Street Fighter 1 HD Remix. Give it a completely new engine, updated graphics, better gameplay, make other characters besides just Ryu and Ken selectable, and give them their own stories.
Svensson: Street Fighter 1? Really? That's a hard sell to me.
Rey Jimenez: What you're asking for isn't an HD Remix (small balance tweaks and updating the visuals). You're basically asking for a whole new game with Street Fighter 1 characters (no doubt fans would want the inclusion of other characters too, so it might at well be Street Fighter 5).
Super Street Fighter 4 Arcade Edition DLC for consoles - how can the fans make it happen?
Svensson: Patience...
Has Capcom ever entertained the idea of requiring Steam activation for their PC retail titles?
Svensson: We actually were the first company (besides Valve of course) ever to do so, on Lost Planet 1 back in 2006.
So yes, we have contemplated that.
And to preempt the logical following question, there are no current plans to do so in the future.
I can't find the complete costume pack for SSF4 on PSN. Did you remove it?
Svensson: It's still there... to find it:
View All by Title >> “S” >> “SM-SY” >> Super Street Fighter 4
It would be nice to play the Sf1 guys who were never used in another game, even though we have different characters that follow thier basic concepts.
@ xbanditx
Obviously because it's a proven fact that PS3's online sucks Hakan's gigantic orange fire hose.
Xbox is much better. Money we spend goes to better online.
@9 you sound like a fanboy there buddy. Do you own a ps3 or played it before.? The online on the 360 is a smoother experience but at the end of the day you got to pay for it(and yes i own both systems and prefer the ps3) there's less d*ckheads on psn than live.
Like it was said you can always search for it idomt see what the big deal is it's just some costumes.
Thor is looking like a mean char..... a perfect BRICK for the smaller characters.. and i think he will turn out just fine
Cinderkin
Because it's not that easy, you got to program in Geki's Shurikens and teleport, Lee's and Joe's ways of getting around fireballs and Adon.
Dan_CiTi
Keep telling yourself that
You forgot Joe and of course Retsu
That "evolution" dropped Geki's projectile and teleport ability, and there's no way of telling how lee played since Yun and Yang were taught by Gen in variations of the hateful and mourning fists. And no two characters even of the similar style are the same or didn't Dudley teach you how to be a dignified man.

If anyone is interested, there is a fan made enhanced version of SF1 called Street Fighter One Upper, it runs on the MUGEN engine.
All characters are available and the mechanics are updated to make the game actually playable and include supers, air blocking and other stuff that I can't remember (haven't played in a loooong time). It's not the best thing in the world but it might be worth checking out if you're curious about the first game of the series but can't get/stand the arcade original.
@Ex_Ein
Haha, yeah, I just fired it up again. I found air blocking, two supers per character (3 level gauge), SNK style backdashes and running, a secret character and 4 button layout.
So yeah, the game is f-ing weird. But fun in a "ohh ok I've never played these guys before".
They should bring back/reintroduce Retsu, Geki, Lee, Joe
For Geki, he needs a different color(blue) because Vega uses the purple color, & they should make his claw a little bit shorter than Vega

All of these characters should have their new BGM, or go with the Birdie's style, in Birdie's SFAlpha BGM it's a new BGM but you can still hear his SF1 theme listen the original SFAlpha 2 version because you can hear it better.
These characters should come back in the SFV development
http://www.capcom-unity.com/street_fi...
One more thing, they should bring back Eagle in the actual SF game,they should make Eagle the opposite of Freddy Mercury & they should rewrite his story but they can still keep the Eagle vs Guile rival
Thor is another instance of stupid people trying to guess tiers before a game is out. Remember when Dudley was thought to be so good that he was going to "break" Street Fighter 4?
Thor looks pretty clumsy to me, but he also looks pretty freaking powerful and he has a great air dash. He might turn out awesome.
That was the dumbest question that eventhubs ever ask capcom."I'd like to see a Street Fighter 1 HD Remix. Give it a completely new engine, updated graphics, better gameplay, make other characters besides just Ryu and Ken selectable, and give them their own stories". Was the guy drunk we he told capcom this? No one will buy this game and i know it. It's going to be horrible in sales, and its by far the worst street fighter game
@#22
That wasn't eventhubs asking the questions, it was the fans on twitter asking them, that's who capcom was replying to, it says in the beginning "capcom responded to a couple of fans"
As far as Thor goes, I see him kinda taking Colossus' place as a simple, no frills powerhouse that has a few neat tricks if you take the time to learn him. I mained Omega Red, Colossus and Juggernaut in MVC2 and seeing that probably none of them will be in 3 (crossing fingers for Juggs tho!), Thor has definitely caught my eye.
I always prefer the simpler strong characters. Who needs a 300 hit combo that does 40% damage when you can do a 6 hit combo for over 70%!!!
i bet the people at capcom look at the questions and pick the most ridiculous ones and try not to give a straight answer.we get nothing
Although I like the idea of every game in the series getting an HD Remix, it's simply not going to happen. The most likely way would be if some fanboy programmers with too much free time on their hands were to make a fanmade version with a brand-new engine (not ripped off from anywhere) and when it was finished, said "here you go Capcom, we'll give you all the rights to this for free". Then, MAYBE, Capcom would release it. But even that scenario is HIGHLY unlikely, so it'll never happen.
@JMJ_Th3_Wik3d
It's the first street fighter without it no modern fighters would have the 6 button layout or special moves like they do now, if you go back and look at it against any other fighter that year or before it was ground breaking. Anyway how do you know it will sell badly? just because most fans won't want it? You forget about the other 6.5 billion people on the planet? if it's advertised as I think it should be in that it should be advertised as A. the roots of the series and B.To casual players who might want to learn basics that carry over to other street fighters without input leniency and basically have a full out tutorial mode from simple cross ups to basic bread and butters(c.MK into Fireball) and throw teching aka keep it simple while teaching people how to actually play basic street fighter and all for the price tag of 10 dollars.
@Ichiban
because the people who know Arcade Super Turbo back and forth agree that HDR has some weird changes that don't make sense, so they kinda don't play it.
However bringing back Street Fighter 1 with a whole new engine is a great idea since it's 5 characters (Joe,Geki,Retsu,Lee,Mike) that have no predefined gameplay and you can change 2(Eagle,Birdie) of the others aka basically 7 new characters(in terms of gameplay) and it's the roots of the franchise every other main street fighter game has gotten multiple versions.
To the people who think it wouldn't sell:
Think about this, David Sirlin would be developing this, so I'm sure it would turn out well. I'm sure there would be people buying this game out of curiosity. Word would spread that this game is good, and more people would probably end up buying it. People can play the game somehow like at a friend's house or something, they like it, would probably end up buying it. Reviews would probably say this game is good, and people might even buy it. There are just so many scenarios for this game to sell.
Seriously people sf1? C'mon. Who asks these questions?
@JanTheMan
- And they should replace this character select artwork/BGM with SFAlpha1/2 style
- The versus style should be like SFAlpha 1/2
- Adon that wins the round should have his awesome laughing voice from SFAlpha 2
- Most of Chun Li, Adon, Ryu, Guy, Gen, Charlie, Dan, Rose & Sakura's voice should sound like SFA2
- Cammy, Fei Long & E. Honda should have their SFII voice
- Fei Long should have his old winpose with Nunchaku from SFII
- Birdie & Sodom should have their voice from SFAlpha 1, his bullhorn(hold p & release) & 360 + P should sound like the SFAlpha 2 version
- While Birdie taunts after doing 3 headbutt, he should comb his hair instead, like one of SFAlpha1/2 games
- When Dee Jay throws projectile, he should yell out Max Out instead of Slash
- Eagle & Maki should be the only characters to be included in the roster with their rewrited story that is cannon
- The Health Bar design should be like SFAlpha 2
- The announcer should say Round 1 Fight!, with SFAlpha 2's style, with SFAlpha 2 style of font
- Gen, Sagat, Adon, Sakura, Rolento, Dan, Charlie, Ken, Ryu & Akuma should have their stage background replaced with their SFAlpha 2 version
- Guile & Fei Long should have their stage background replaced with their SFII version
- Some of the stages should be removed, so that everyone can have their own stage backround
- All character's BGM should be replaced with their Original BGM(SFAlpha style), Eagle & Maki should have their BGM
- The Conintue after you lose should look like one of SFII games with SFAlpha 2 BGM
- They should use Dan's sprite from SFAlpha 1
sorry for double post, but I want this game to be more like SFAlpha 1/2, because I don't like most of SFAlpha 3 soundtrack
Why not just use the SF2 engine for a SF1 remake?
I'd love to play the original without broken gameplay.
