in my opinion, taunts are only used when...
1)players turtles alot and you're better than he/she
2)you know that the other player is an a-hole who taunts at you Although he/she sucks.
I never taunt even if i'm winning. Alot of NOT good online players taunt after the first half of the first round, but then they would get destroyed the 2nd and 3rd round. Usually I don't play serious round 1. 'Nuff said, Once your style gets downloaded, you're done.
I respect all players who respect me. :)

i'm gonna get back to taunting people... his thread is proving to me once more, that it DOES get in the opponent's head lol. people here are waaay too sensitive about the taunting.
i'm not gonna lie... it irks me too... but mainly when people just try to use it if you're dizzy or have nigh no life. that's a coward's taunt lol.
if you gonna taunt, be a man about it and do that ish when a person still has life left and it's still a legitimate fight.
i probably shouldn't be revealing this to to those who don't know it, but certain characters can use taunts to their advantage for ultras. it's not recommended, but it can def catch a person off gaurd... if vega's ultra's didn't require charging i'd use it lol.

those certainly are times when people taunt. and then there's friendly matches where people taunt just for fun, or to communicate.
plenty of vega users will taunt (using the first one) where vega laughs, after they miss an attack or mess something up and it ends up looking funny.
for example... they do blood high claw towards the opponent... it hits on the way up, but because of stupidity, it misses when he attacks off the wall. many of us will taunt out a laugh after that because we have to laugh off the BS we were just subjected to.
taunts can be fun. i've taunted my share of times and it's almost nevr to be disrespectful really. i don't taunt because i thin ka person sucks. i taunt to:
1) have plain fun with them
2) to get in their head
3) to communicate (like if a person is turtling or RUNNING FROM ME... [grrr... how dare you run like a coward from VEGA??] if i'll taunt... especially if i have taunt number 2 on, where he gestures to "come here" with his finger)
4) respond to taunts (man... some fools have taunted me and i've responded by repeat taunting them as i take out my revenge lol)

I love to taunt...most of the time I win, sometimes I get an epic comeback on my @$$. It's all fun. When you're at the same level of play have some fun...if you think it's "cocky" you either suck (compared to your opponent) or you take this game waaaay to seriously.
I must say if it's obvious you have your opponent totally outmatched and you still taunt...you're a tool.
This was fun to watch and I bet the guy who taunted fell off his chair laughing at himself...I know I do when I lose like that! LOL!
I could care less what people think online....speshally on the PSN....I use Dan with his #9 taunt all the time and love whooping up people who take this game waaaay to serious! I taunt as much as I can! Having way too much fun! Don't care if I lose either.

people do take this game way to seriously I changed my attitude alot recently and realized I want to have play and be the best at my character and not worry about all the stuff in "between" the between are jackass and elitist pricks
Taunting is such a dick move. I'll taunt second but never first. I'm not a egotist like that and I see that as disrespect in SSF4 where taunts have no purpose unlike 3S with attribute boosts. Guile, Blanka, Vega and Shotos taunting make me rage because they are "runaway" friendly characters played by trash online players.
Taunting was put in the game for a reason. And no mr. pooped your pants. You don't always lose for taunting. Its fun, and is a good way to say "Hey pansy! Step up your game!"
I generally taunt when I'm just totally kicking the guys butt to let him know just that. I play for a challenge so when I play I expect you to bring it.
Or I taunt in laggy matches that I'm not really even trying. Just not worth the effort with lag. And I'll taunt if I get that far ahead. But I certainly wouldn't have fallen for that, he shoulda just teleported. I lose sometimes when I taunt in situations like that, but it just makes me laugh. Cause its just fun to taunt. I love when people over react about it.
That guy Vega fought, should go home and be a family man.
I've seen an Abel player lose around because of that. He had full life meter and was about to get perfect when he dizzied his opponent. Then he decided it was a good time to taunt but then opponent wake up sooner than expected and punished his ass hard. XD What followed was probably the best come back in history of gaming.

The things I got out of this video are:
1) Vega's Super does more damage than Akuma's Ultra? (though health should be taken into consideration)
2) When Akuma does his ult on you, you'll get two bars of meter?!
3) Some people get a little too offended by taunting.

Anyway all the people saying taunts are a part of the game so don't get offended are idiots too. Nobody should be offended 1st off and I doubt people who thought this was a dickhead move are actually insulted by taunts. But there's a time for it, this was not one of those times. If you think otherwise try it for yourself and post the results.

Sorry 4 double post,thought id give reasons 4 why i taunt.
1.If opponent is messing around with connection(no moves coming out,input delay)don't c the point in playing if this happens.
2.tap tap shoulders knees and throw or jump in throw 3 times in a row
3.If opponent just stands back and just waits.
I mostly use the laugh taunts cos thats what im most doing when stuff like that happens :) not in a bad way though.
I love how Vega's super just ends with him laughing...
especially in this match!!!
