VersusCity translated an article by Arcadia Magazine where Tokido and Mago break down the newest official characters for Super Street Fighter 4 Arcade Edition, Yun and Yang.Yun, by Tokido
For Byakko (Palm), Yun can cancel out projectiles with the MP and HP version while gaining a ton of meter. The LP version is used for feints. The EX version grants Yun lower body invincibility on start up while at the same time bounding opponents off the wall on hit, allowing for follow up attacks.
Never played before with either of these 2. but i love Yun's outfit. id so rock it myself if i were built like him. I can already see Yun becoming one of the coolest looking characters in ssf4. Or it may be that the coll ssf4 graphics make everyone look cool. ah heck, win or lose 20 time in a row I LOVE THIS GAME
So yang is like fei if fei could do an ultra after two rekka hits? Super god tier or what?
i agree #4....seems like yang will be better than his counter-part
Granted I seem to play better with Yang in third strike, this time around I'll picking up Yun. Or Hugo(if confirmed) since he was my best character in third strike.
Not to be TOO much of a downer, but given all this hype, the fanboys are bound to be bitter about something come release date.
So excited that they did this rundown for us! Can't wait to give both characters a spin.
Someone emailed me asking if VersusCity had given the OK to post their articles on this site, like this one, but didn't leave an email address for me to respond to, so I'm just leaving a comment here.
I contacted Reno a little ways back and he said he's totally fine with me posting articles on the site now.
I don't quite get this part:
"Finally, after many of Yun’s combos, if you go for a dive kick on wake up when the opponent is in the air, they will do a soft landing (aka you can’t juggle them), but you will land before your opponent so you can play some serious mixup games."
So, Yun does a meaty dive-kick on an opponent on wake-up but they're in the air? Or, they are in the air and on wake-up Yun does an instant dive kick that trades and they get a soft-reset.... Eh?
It makes sense if Yun does an air kick on an opponent as they wake up but not meaty - however an SRK would surely stuff this and it would be easily blocked unless crossed up so it's hard to imagine... Plus, surely dive kicks do not put the opponent into an airborne state do they?
I don't quite get it.
i guess with that dive kick they mean either amibious (??) crossup against reversals like srk.. once srk is out the divekick crosses up and resets them, or you land behind them and get a free combo.. OORRR
you reset all your combos with st.mk jump cancel dive kick to reset them and play a guessing game with dash under, command grab, grab, overhead, whatever
Remember before super came out everyone thought Dudley would be god tier... im just saying.
@#16
Also remember that everybody's backdash is being modified so that they all have airborne frames. I guess he means if you hit them while they are backdashing and they go airborne then he'll land 1st giving him time to start up pressure.
On another note I'm definitely using Yun (if AE goes to consoles), even though Yang sounds better, gotta stick with my main man from 3S.
Also interesting to see some Genei Jin stuff from Tokido. For it to be considered good enough to save the meter for, you have to be able to dish out good damage (at least 40%) from 1 or maybe 2 combos, hopefully they'll modify the scaling to allow it to do so
@#23
i believe they already stated before that people where getting a total of 50-60% damage off it. But who knows what they changed.
Cant wait for Yang, U1 animation>all others and its doesnt involve spinning/tornadoes
um you should know that yun and yang has dive kick begining because Sf3 came first then sf4
dude...
