You can find more information on Iindiegogo.com/excellentadventures. Here's a little blurb from the video as well.
If you enjoyed the video quality of our last episode Canadian Pregaming (thanks to the help of the 100 Yen crew)... our goal for Season 2 is to be able to bring that quality to every single episode and take the show ON THE ROAD! But we can't do it on our own!
Please take a moment to look over our Indiegogo page and see if you'd be able to donate anything to our fund drive. ANY amount is greatly appreciated, and fun gifts are offered for specific donation levels.
@5 You get various things for specific amounts, if you go nuts and donate a K, you can tell them what to do as their thank you.
I think I'll chip in though, in all honesty, I've enjoyed their stuff, and what they say, about camera expense and travel, is true. When I used to do independent filming, getting the setups and the proper HVX or even Canon camera was hard, as well as the lighting, and the OK to film in specific locations.
I have to admit i like them both and they are good street fighter players. but honestly I would love to do half the stuff they get to do , and of course anyone would. And also to get all the recognition they get, plus doing it with other peoples money. Dang ain't that the life! They must not have any true responsibilities in life with all the traveling and tournaments. Must be nice! But anyways, not meaning to sound mean. So if i did, i didn't mean to but if i had a few bucks I prob would help them out just because I'm that nice.
I love watching the show and all but....
GET A F^%$$ING JOB!!!!!
Haters gonna hate. If u don't want to donate just shut up. No one cares if ur broke. No one wants to hear u talk trash and troll. What these guys are doing is awesome. Its entertaining. If u don't enjoy, don't watch. I'm def gonna donate if it means more excellent adveture. Yo gootecks and mike ross, u guys rule! Keep doin yo thug thizzle! Keep spreading and making the SF as fun as u guys make it. Mad props!
I love these guys and what they do and all...but when I donate money I donate it to people who truly NEED it, I'm talking 'at risk of dying or losing their home' need it. As much as I'd love to donate to them I just don't see a real 'need' for it. So do I have money to spare? Yeah, but I'm not gonna go out of my way for people who aren't in dire need of it.
Now I might be more willing to donate if say, there was no way they could continue the show without massive amounts of donations, but that's not the case to me it seems like a 'help put the cherry on top of the sundae' donation drive.
Sorry guys, I love your show...but to me it seems like the need just isn't there.
@robococky
My thoughts exactly, sure I'm sure it'd be nice for them to take the show on the road every episode and I'm sure it'd be fun to watch, but it's not like they NEED to; they're perfectly entertaining the way they're set up now.
Why is it always have to boil down to money. Just months ago these guys were offering classes for a fee and now this.
Honestly, I am tight with cash because I have responsibilities but if I had disposable income I probably won't. Additionally, I've seen videos of Gootecks in Canada and even in Japan and he probably was sponsored by close friends but I am not being suckered into this crap.
I rather donate money to guys who actually doing the stream such as Teamspooky for example or one of those guys from iplayerwinner.com but not these days. Furthermore, thanks to modern technology it is inexpensive now to conceived media content to the web, so the only finances these guys may need is for traversing not video equipment.
i think a lot of people are missing the point of this video (although i suppose ppl asking for money will always raise a few eyebrows/criticism).
from what i got out of the video is they are more or less gauging the desire of their audience and the ssf4 community for them to take crosscountertv and "excellent adventures" to the next level. would it be nice if they were able to do that without the need for donations? sure, but this is reality (btw...last i noticed not a whole lot of even the best ssf4 players have sponsors, let alone get to go to the number of events they apparently want to get to). so if they get the financial support, cool...if not, it was at least worth putting it out there.
Not saying I don't enjoy or appreciate the shows. Its just that in a way this does feel like they are basically asking for a free holiday.
The current adventures of Mick ross and Gootecks is good enough. What difference does it make if they troll in Europe for example.
The show is basically the equivalent as other SF players creating those great tutorials for the community.. They do it because they enjoy SF. I Don't see those people asking for donations.
Maybe they could win some prize money or something at a tournament.
I don't really have a problem with them asking for donations... it's not charity, it's optional donation.
If I ask you for a dollar for soda, you CAN say no... but I'd still REALLY like the soda. C'est la vie.
If it would bring them down to Miami and expose the scene down here, it would be money well spent in my eyes. Wouldn't any of you like some exposure for the SF community in your area? I would think so.
Them's my two pennies and I'm sticking to it.
This is so funny. These guys get a little bit of "fame", at least in the fighting game community and now they are asking for money.
Go Mike and Gootecks, fracking geniuses.
Sure, they may use some money for their equipment and such, but I think we know where most of it will really go. Let's see how many idiots donate to them.
I dont get the idea of travelling to other countries to troll online. I mean will it just be you guys in a hotel room in London for example, playing SSF4 online? I love the show for giggles but does it need to be done in another country? I dont see how it helps the community much either. It wont improve your game sending them off to another country, it will not bring the community as close together the way SRK.com or teamspooky streams does
There is likely a correlation between Mike Ross and Gootecks entering tourneys with their money and not making any money in it by placing 3rd or higher.
Just like in the OG DragonBall 22nd Tourney, it looks like there has been a "changing of the guards". The Old Vets have to step aside for the more hungrier Young Blood.
Haha, all these angry nerds slamming their keyboards while frothing at the mouth over something so minuscule.
If you're too poor to donate, you don't have to, that's what's so great about a donation. If you don't want to donate, you don't, other people will (maybe).
But go ahead and keep speaking out on eventhubs.com; in your little 2x5 box to type up your discretions, I'm sure in the end, you'll be that much better off after venting all this anger over such a travesty.
Q(-_-Q)
hmmm.. my thoughts:
I think it's okay for them to be asking for donations. Because there's nothing wrong in asking right? The show would definitely get much bigger than just trolling people online if this happens. They could troll random SF players offline from around the globe, lol.
Kidding aside, I think that any amount of donation is okay as long a the ones donating have money to spare. For those who can't (or won't) donate, there's nothing wrong with it too.
Personally though, I will not donate because as with many people, priorities come first. Good luck to Mike and Gootecks though.
P.S. One thing that would be much better though is if they can somehow get a gaming company (EG,BLG,MADCATZ, etc.) to sponsor their show. Now that would solve their problem. Hope it happens.
no I won't donate just sooo they can slack off, this is the real world go work for money soo you can enjoy your hotels and traveling and stuff. i cant believe these goons that actually did donate their good earned money for just some videogame players lol. but to each their own dollar.
It's all good. For those who donate, good for you. For those who think they're scamming you, good for you too. They're just trying to make the show better. I'm not dick riding or anything. I'm just saying, all of you angry folks are making it a big deal for nothing. You're not donating so stop getting angry lmao.
Man folks are upset about them asking for donations. Why are folks so worried about what they do when they are not playing street fighter. I can bet if Daigo was asking for donations he would get it no problem lol.
nippon: "Easy to hate if u do it behind a keyboard and filled with resentment and envy.
Trolling and hating sucks. Just l2be an entrepeneur and stop hating.
I think they should get some contribution ofc. Hope they do.
Gl with the collection."
An entrepeneur is one who starts an enterprise. These guys started a show with no real business model (and in fact I imagine it was not intended to be profitable), and are now asking for donations. Do you really consider making a video asking for donations to be enterprising? I enjoy the shows, but asking for charity is just the opposite of being enterprising.
Traveling is extremely expensive, I guess none of you guy anywhere....lol.
Food, gas, equipment, vehicle maintenance, airplane tickets, equipment, etc.
If you want them to keep doing what they're doing and make eventhubs a more exciting place, then you have to help them get there. Nothing is free. >_>
I want to donate to ross and not gootecks but thats not possible. Ross is a good player and I want to see more of his matches. Gootecks is a scrub like me and I dont want to pay some guy who plays like me.
Asking donations is ok, its not like they are forcing you to pay. Although its sad that gootecks said in a video before that he doesn't want a 9-5 job and wants to make money from games (not sure about Mike). Thats fine if you want to do that, but at least go make yourself a top player and win.
@49
Of course an opinion can be false, that is so to speak, false to someone who does not agree with it or if the opinion is scientifically incorrect and goes against facts.
Say for instanse if i though that the sky was made out of chocolate my opinion would be false because it is a scientific fact that the sky is made out some parts oxygen, carbon dioxide, hydrogen and many other chemicals. But still Blankaisascrub's opinion may very well be false because he is presuming that everyone who watches Gootecks videos is as he quotes "intellectually challenged" when I presume he has not done a scientific study or any research to back that up so without proof, his opinion is WRONG!!!
You know what it's not REALLY about the money, Personally I think folks here are just jealous of Mike and Gootecks because people here don't have a show like this but if folks here actually stepped their game up, stopped trolling SSFIV streams and actually went to those tournaments, who knows, they might actually have a shot at a little popularity in the fighting game community or gaming community all togeather. It's all jealousy and this is just a chance for the haters to find any reason to discredit them for all the hard work they put in to preserve the community. Because the way I see it only a few people are doing it these days and they ALL get donations.
why should I pay to help you guys help people troll? Its not even trolling, its more like losing and blaming lag, and no smack talk is exchanged. It is somewhat entertaining to see them lose to randoms online, but it really shouldn't get too big.
Is this tax deductible?
If so, then I would rather give my hard earned money to Gootecks and Mike Ross versus people who sit on their a55 all day and collect welfare and food stamps.
At least they are doing something other than mooching.
Keep up the great work, guys!
Don't care for gootecks at all but mike ross seems like a cool guy, but i dont want to see them troll anyone online i want to see them use there mains and get frustrated from losing like real humans do online...I mean if there were player mathes insteaed of endless battle with 40 people to a room it id never play ranked and be in a good mood everytime i played the game...i'll donate to the starving insteaed.
People are going to hate/dislike/say neg things about something that is always good/great how ever you look at it.
The Point that Mike Ross and Gootecks are making is to help the show "Level up" as a few have already stated. Now I think I can see where most are coming from saying "all they want is money," because I don't think Gootecks stated it properly..Mike Ross was more clear.
At any rate, Hope to see things work out for them. Tough market in my opinion, especially if they just want to travel to troll.
And why travel when most of the TOP players are all in Cali! 0_o
Mike Ross and Gootecks are the prime examples that if you're not at the top of the food chain like Daigo Umehara or to a lesser extent- Justin Wong, being a pro-gamer is a waste of your time and life, these guys are probably going to be living in their mothers houses until they're 40!
And like someone was clearly stating on these forums, these guys must have no responsibility whatsoever to want to take this laughable show on the road. I find the show unamusing and not even at the very least educational-streetfighter wise anyway. I could have been sold on the idea of donating to Spooky as he is responsible for me enjoying high quality streaming of tournaments from the comforts of my home but to donate to these two, jobless, C-tier, self proclaimmed pro gamers to just bum around and play streetfighter at my expense....i'll take a pass!
To a much less harsh and condescending degree,I would have to agree with darkunor (#58)! I am just not sure where you watch top players troll is something worthy of supporting financially.
@Muais79: Yeah, blankaisascrub may just be up here to troll, but, umm...is that not essentially what Ross and Gootecks want us to fund?...Trolling?
Wow, who would be dumb enough to donate money to a couple of fools who want to travel the world, just to troll people online? That's not only a waste of time, but a waste of money as well. How about doing a smarter thing and GET A F**KING JOB.
I think most people here are missing the big picture. Sure, Excellent Adventures started as just a goofy idea that ended up being pretty entertaining, but they've obviously expanded what the show is and what they ultimately want it to become. They've been transitioning from "Excellent Adventures" to "Real Life Adventures" pretty clearly, and I'm sure that's the direction they're hoping to continue in. You can sit there and write "oh so these guys just want to be able to travel around the world and play games and film themselves? Where do they get off?!" But it's really no different from the countless TV shows featuring people that already do just that for a career, except they are food-based or fashion-based, or everything else in the wide world of reality TV.
Street Fighter and the fighting game community are right now as popular as they've ever been. It's right on that cusp of exploding to a new level of recognition in mainstream popular culture and all it would take is one big idea to gain some attention and set it off. You can't really blame these Tecks and Ross for wanting to be involved in something like that.
You won't get it back, you donated it.
So Gootecks will probably look even more wasted for another few months.
I will donate. I love this show and I want this community to keep on, even when Im not a pro or whatever. I do nothing for the community I love, not even playing!! So... Im supporting this, and not taking things too far. Also Gootecks and Mike should be more ambitious of what a Street Fighter show could be
I like how people are calling Gootecks a scrub. The dude beat Justin in tournament play(Sinsation) back in 2009 and also in that same tournament destroyed Marn in a first to ten. It was the arcade version of sf4 if you wanted to know and he also took a lot of money home in MM of Third strike. I am not mad about them wanting to do a show and asking for donations hell some TV stations do it all the time. I think that people calling other folks a scrub is a joke if they have not even placed in a tourney let alone go to them.
I Love this show.
