That trailer was AMAZING!!!
Everything just flowed into each other and all came together to make it overall spectacular!
SPECTACULAR!!!
It was delicious...
Dang, that's a big payout for the tourney.
Great trailer!
@ 3
yes i think thats exactly why some people will have some biased opinions. dont try to make a big deal about it
True I am also interested in how the rest of the Euro scene is also growing in SSF4 besides Luffy, Starnab, etc. those are the only two that popped in my head right now sorry If I forgot someone else major I know I am...
You going WGE if so rep that Gief I will be routing for you.
Even this song makes a way better "theme" for SFIV. Indestructible FTL
So any other big name players besides Gamerbee going there? How about EG Justin, Madcatz Daigo, and BLG Filipino Champ?
Cool trailer!
You guys are clearly demented! This is, by far, THE best trailer in existence: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=shsA2g...
@CoolStory
"why would people not have a lot of interest in the event?"
That's because European tournaments are rarely ever streamed. I don't know if this tournament is being streamed, the site is all in French, but even if it were being streamed most people wouldn't be able to watch it due to the extreme time zone differences.
Great trailer!! with ken bogard, the streaming will be very nyce!!! i predict a french player will be win this event ;-)
let's get ready to rumble!!!
22: i think this event will be in streaming, i have no more info
@Null:
"even if it were being streamed most people wouldn't be able to watch it due to the extreme time zone differences."
I assume you say that because of the time differences; but it could work. It's tougher for Europeans to watch American streams than the other way around because you guys are like 6-9 hours behind (depending on where you're located).
The connection shouldn't be a problem though. I've watched a few US streams before (SCR and Canada Cup to be exact) and they were fine.
Awesome how Gamerbee is introduced in the trailer, with Adon's laugh and all, Pretty cool! Ken is a sick commentator, no one is as detailed as him when is comes to commenting SF. You pretty much don't even need to see the fight to know exactly what's going on.
EU tournaments have no stream that's why nobody cares. the timezone different is not a big problem for US.
nvm, there is alot of talking about a tournament call "Beat By Contest" in Switzerland. don't know when and i don't know who is going. But i heard there are many big names are going.
Well as far as I'm concerned europe has only 1 top player, and that's Ryan hart. He's performed at evo, won tekken one year, and has beat great players at a huge tournament. Although he's never gotten top 8, he's been around for a long time and is always a contender to win a tournament. Luffy got some name for beating daigo, but tons of americans have beat daigo.Jago beat daigo at SBR with bison, and he's never made top 8 at a major, I think the french were riding the victory a little bit to hard.Starnab or luffy would never make top 8 at Evo, or tougeki. You get a name like gamerbee, you reach top 8 at a major. Starnab came to SBR talking alot of noise, and went home early. He might be a top player in france, but not so much in the states or japan.
To be the man, you've to show up, perform, and beat the man. You may have beasts in your local city, but at a major the skill difference would become apparant very quickly.
@SpaniardSRK
Where did you get this "Starnab talking crap" at SBR ?
doesn't relly look like him..
and Luffy won SVB this year with Daigo, Ryan Hart, PR Rog and basicaly all best french and UK players.
You can't really judge how far he would get at EVO. Let him attend a major tournament and then you can talk.
That was the same situation with Gamerbee actually. He was a beast in his country but totally unknown internationally. Then he attended EVO and made top8.
Starnab won some tournament in new york, and called USA free and came over to SBR talking alot of noise which got things hype, unfortunately lol the hype quickly died.
"and Luffy won SVB this year with Daigo, Ryan Hart, PR Rog and basicaly all best french and UK players."
Pr balrog hasn't made top 8 in a while. Ryan hart has never made top 8 in sfiv or ssfiv when he's come state side. Unfortunately that claim "all that best french and Uk players" has no ground, because europes best has not performed here at a major. So if your best europeans don't perform in the states, so the B tier players I don't think much of.
The thing with majors here, like scr Arturo and sanford or yipes didn't attend, OR the canada canada cup which is was a meaningless tourny, is that all the best players cannot attend all these majors year round. Evo is attended by all the best players around the country and the world. The pools are incredibly stacked, tokido who's godlike didn't even make top 8 evo.
So the biggest tournament to prove yourself at is SBO or evo. Because there are no flukes where there are tons of monsters in every pool, and the best players have to play at their peak just to get out of pools.
As for gamerbee he always plays the japanese online, which has significantly leveled up his game. The europeans don't have that luxury. So to compare those 2 variables is a flawed argument.
Not trying to offend or insult european players, but like up and coming players like myself we have to pay our dues, and perform at multiple tournies. You don't beat daigo in a best of 3 and think you're a top player in street fighter. Inthul beat starnab at SBR, and dude has only made top 8 once in his SF career. I think it's the elitist attitude that commands respect that puts people off. You claim to be good? Prove it, dont sing it bring it. All I'm hearing is hearsay. I'd love for ryan hart to win over here or starnab, call the states free which would start a healthy rivalry, thus more motivation for players world wide to level up.
Remember it's a game and at a tourny win or lose we'd all go out and have a drink and a laugh afterwards.
ken bogard is the best street fighter comentator ever (but in french) if you understand french you should watch his comentating videos ! unbelievable! (for exemple : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UJ0ypV... )
he doesn't miss any attack or technique, its like commentating football match! he is the best!
Point is: there is still not enough international tournaments to compare countries (or continents) level.
I'm not talking of events with 1 or 2 foreign guest star. That's not relevant enough.
You're jumping to conclusions refering to only one event.. It's not really objective.
Calling a country free after winning a tourny is plain stupid I think you'll agree. And i'm a bit disapointed if Starnab acted like that.
imo SF is still at the present time a 'small' esport and needs to establish itself in major international esport events (ESWC, WCG, whatever).
It is moving slowly in this way but as you mentioned them,
the current biggest SF tournaments are EVO and Tougeki.
EVO is still mainly composed of US people and Tougeki by Japanese people. You can't really call them "international" that was the point (even if there are more&more strangers at EVO).
I'm definitely hoping for a tourny with a few of best US japanese, taiwanese, korean, UK, France, Spain etc..
Let me give you all the rundown:
*Starnab - Won a small NYC tourney, and then proceeded to get BLOWN UP at SBR. Not even close to a top player in the States/JP
*Ryan Hart - No one cares about Tekken top 8's, which is all he is ever done stateside. This guy is free to top players. Even at that large EU invitational, Daigo/Marn put it on him hard.
*Alioune - Euro scrubs talk about him like he is a God, yet he never enters any tourneys to prove anything. You are NOTHING until you show up and prove it.
*Euro is free, bye.
37# Euro is free, bye.
Mouahahahahaha..... come on at this event or shut up! who are you for say that??? are you come in euro in the past? i don't think so...
"Starnab won some tournament in new york, and called USA free and came over to SBR talking alot of noise which got things hype, unfortunately lol the hype quickly died."
Lol, really ?
Talk crap as much as you want but don't use my name until you know what you're talking about.
That was what the commentators said on the stream, skisonic or something. That you won a tournament in new york, fancied yourself a bit, and things didn't work out well for you at SBR. I didn't even know you entered a tournament in new york before it was said on stream. So I don't know who was there or who you beat to win it.
Hmm there seems to be some kind of animosity, with the french SF community torwards the american SF community. Does it stem with justin wong and marn coming over to france to win free sbo spots? Been to the uk,spain, portugal, never to france. I've heard parysians are not very nice but the rest of the french are very nice kind people. So I hope the french are keeping old social stigmas out of a video game.
you know Spaniard, in fact, there is no animosity between the 2 community, but for me it's very,very,very boring to read "the euro is free","bad level"...(not only on this web site of course),in france and others country of europe we have a very good player, maybe not better than justin wong and marn but very good.thus sometimes we gonna be little crazy when someone read this( not all the french community lol) and know that: all the american who will be participated at random event in euro in the future, they will receive a very good hosting... i hope you understand that i said, sorry my english is not good.
p.s:sorry weltall for the shut up, it's not cool
p.s2: it's will be very nice to play with some american player for me if the time and the lag allows it, i meet rarely american player in endless match
The term "free" came from the east coast of the united states, where no matter who you are if you lose badly you get called free whether you're justin wong or mike ross. So when Arturo called Ryan hart free at evo 2009 he seemed really offended, but I think arturo said the UK is free or something to that extent. Perhaps he should of just said ryan was free, without disrespecting a whole community. The term free is all in good fun, and no one should be offended when they are called free. During the norcal regionals trailer, arturo got blown up when it said "and the land of the free" he wrote on twitter about it and loved it because of how hilarious his look was in the video and the way it was matched in the song.
I think all players should just remember after the games we can all go out and be friends, but because of cultural differences some people might get more offended than others. When in rome do as the romans, this is how it is in the usa, if you want to play here you have to get accustomed to the american SF culture. If marn calls europe free, it does not represent the opinion of the USA as a whole community, just one person saying a comment in good fun.
J.S. masters participated at evo 2010 and SBR never made top 8 and was sent home early. He eliminates justin wong and I think gootecks at calgary cup which only had 1 great canadaian player which is himself, and he calls all of USA free. If USA was so free why didn't he reach top 8 at evo or SBR? I think that is inherently the problem. You have to pay your dues, and earn your keep for the respect and prestige of being known as a top player. You just can't say we have great players they just never come to tournaments. That is not a valid argument for a case to be made. If you want respect you have to earn it at a large tournament. Do you want to one of the best of france? or one of the best of the world? If it's the latter then you have to participate in the big tournaments and prove it.
@SpaniardSRK
It looks like you have been caught with your pants down, passing on third-hand information about someone you don't knnow, have never met, and probably haven't been in the same room with. Proper armchair warrior sh!t.
If you met StarNab you would know he doesn't talk like this. In fact most people in Europe don't; there may be an arrogant person here or there but the Street Fighter culture here is generally different to America.
Give us a shout when you win a tournament... until then, don't ride on the coat tails of other players. lol
@SpaniardSRK
I watched the Guard Crush that Starnab attended, he didn't talk any trash at all, Dieminion was the one that got on the mic afterward and said that Daigo and Momochi were going to be free in the 5 on 5, I think that you're being too harsh on the French/EU players, no one here has claimed that they're better than US or Japanese players yet. BTW, Starnab beat Arturo and Dieminion at the GC that he attended and although Sanford, Ryder, Marlin Pie, Andre, Evil Rahsaan, Yipes, Aulord, et al couldn't attend that one he still beat two good players.
Moving on... This tournament should be a lot better than that excuse of a tourney known as the Canada Cup... WorstGief are you going to attend? Also hope we get to see this stream at least would like if some of our neighbors from across the pond that post here on this site in the forum section will also attend.
I will definitely be in attendance, Eurostar is booked already :) I think this will be my 5th Bushido Impact this year. I don't think the location has internet so a stream is unlikely unless they know something I don't know.
I don't think you can can say most european players are arrogant, because every country has their own unique mentality. The french aren't exactly known for being humble people as a whole. I've never been to france because I have no interest in that country, or learning french to communicate while I'm there, while I can go to other countries like netherlands,sweeden, or germany and people are willing to communicate with me with the worlds standard language, english.
Worstgief who are you? Winning a tourny in europe doesn't mean anything over here, so if you won and gave shoutouts only the 100 people there would have heard of that episode.
I've just been saying that we shouldn't forget the sportsmanship aspect of competition.
- If I had the money to go out there best believe I would.. man I wish I had tournies out here I'm like my towns only serious Street Fighter player..so so sad.. :(
