Over on Capcom-Unity an explanation has been posted for how Marvel vs. Capcom 3's License Card system works. Here's a rundown of what to expect from this.
• License Cards are for studying up on how your opponents play, allowing you to see positive and negative elements of their style along with seeing the same information about yourself.
• Style elements are sorted into categories like Stability, Basic Offense, Advanced Offense, Basic Defense and Advanced Defense.
• When an online match starts up, the License Card will allow you to see who your opponent's favorite team is, number of wins and losses, what kind of attacks they like and much more.
• Your personal License Card also tracks your Battle and Player points, which is the same ranking system used in Super Street Fighter 4.
• The icon and title system that's in place for SSF4 will also be returning in MvC3.
• In Mission mode, users can train themselves with a series of character specific challenges.

In TvC, could you see this before the match starts (such as in the lobby) or do you have to wait for the loading screen in like SSFIV?
They probably won't do this but I hope they allow you to see PP (player points) in the lobby rather than the loading screen. The only drawback I had with the SSFIV system is that if you face people with lower PP than you, you lose a lot more than you gain. This could be fixed by allowing people see the PP before the match actually gets started.
This type of game is really hard to counter pick because it's a 3 v 3. I just don't want to have 4000 or so PP, and then fight a guy who is really good at 0 PP and lose a sh*t load of points. That's one of the reasons why I stopped playing ranked in SSFIV. I win 10, lose 4, net loss of 300 PP :(
yeah, really wish there was a 'turtling' category, and also a 'mashing' one. Also hope this means you can leave a fight after seeing their card, so noobs won't waste their time fighting pros and vice-versa (like in Blazblue). Although if I was awesome with certain characters and wanted to try some new ones, maybe it might be hard to get a game with a beginner this way...

Exactly, Blazblue did it right... well at least Calamity Trigger did. Continuum Shift ranked is a little messed up.
But in CT, they allowed you to see the opponents card in the lobby. I liked that because this way I knew that the person I am fighting is either better, same, or worse than me. This let me make sure I face people of my level, which makes the game a whole lot more enjoyable.

Basic defense would be regular blocking.
Advanced defense would be more like using Advancing Guard and Variable Counters.
I'm guessing Advanced offense would be doing DHCs, THCs, X-Factor, Exchange tags, etc.

I wouldn't say Game of the Year because you got a lot of people trying to vote either CoD Black Ops, or Assassin's Creed or whatever as Game of the Year. Best fighting game? Sure. Game of the Year? not likely...
(Turtling isn't a factor here...too many characters have unblockable grabs. What I'm REALLY worried about is Dante/Deadpool/Another Keep Away character teams. I'm not really worried grapplers/hort/close range chars will have trouble..but people haven't been performing well with Thor...T-T)

You do know that Magneto, Storm and Sentinel are all but confirmed for MvC3 right?
The same list that "guessed" Shuma and Jill for DLC those MvC2 gods are on the list.
So if they arent SERIOUSLY nerfed then...I and MANY OTHERS WILL RAGE QUIT IF THEIR BS still works!
i hope sentinel is in i liked him for what it is, a damned machine. Seeing how Jin hasnt cropped up yet with his blodia, none of the metalic russian trio(gief,omega red, colossus)... Spencer and MODOK doesnt seem fit enough to satisfy that role. guess ill have to settle with tronne doom and zero :(
That list is total BS, it has alot of already deconfirmed characters & it doesn't even have Thor in it so how is it even believable?
Also the person that made the list didn't "guess" Jill & Shuma DLC, that information was released by Gamestop on the same day that the list appeared, this guy clearly saw it earlier than it was posted on here or SRK & many other people saw it too but they reported it instead of making a phony leak list.
WHY ISN'T THIS IN SSF4!? very cool to study ur opponent or see who ur playing as well as studying yourself, but maybe it will not be in ssf4 is bc mvsc3 is a very different fighting game..idk it would be cool though
be more intricate in ssf4 maybe record how u whiff in situations an get punished or tech. ability or ur percentage u hit ur links (of course i knw its online), how much u turtle, how much u knockdown if ur low in this area then u may need to work on footsies dept., collect data if u are lame or passive aggressive or wisely aggressive (u dont take alot of damage issuing out ur assault) or suicidal aggressive (u do take damage whn attacking) etc. pretty cool thought Cap-com should expand on this idea on other fighting games (ssf4) instead of mvsc3 which i'm not a great fan of (mashy craz fest go with the flow less technical etc. etc.)

That would be awesome but it wouldnt at the same time. You can tell if a person turtles becuz their wins would be high but their attack stats would be low. I think they should have a disconnection count. A way to see if the player leaves the matches often. Because there has been TOO many times where I beat the sentinal, cap commando, cable combos with just a low tier team and before I win, they'd just quit the game. I really hate that... Turtle all you want, it doesnt work well in MvC but being cheap and quitting when ur losing lol I HATE THAT!!!!

Not sure that venom is legit...doesnt look enough like the style...it's got too much detail. Venom is gonna be hard to model in motion so if anything I bank on him not making the first cut and being pushed to DLC is he is in simply due to time restrictions, hopefully I'm wrong.

Considering the bitching Nitisuma was doing about how they can't implement a complicated character like Demitri the 3D model of Venom (Or graphic rendering of his 2D sprite)looks way too complicated to animate.
Plus the model does'nt look consistant with the other characters in MvC3.
And finally how come on these youtube videos we gotta read through like 4 blocks of text with some crappy explanation on how they aquired the uncredited info? Cmon people, if your gonna start rumors, be orignal.
I like this, reminds me of the character stats development feature in street fighter alpha 3.I think venom could have a shot afterall,at first i thought it would be too time consuming for capcom to animate him like he was in 2d to 3d,but after the shuma-gorath anouncement,i think he has a chance now,since shumagoraths animations seemed difficult and detailed like venoms,hope he makes it in since venom was one of my mains in mvc2.where is the shuma-gorath gameplay video?

in endless battle it shows PP.
this looks nice but its gonna turn into more of a screen system if anything. U shouldnt be able to view it in ranked matchs.
I seriously dislike the Mission Mode I'm hearing about.
I like this. I hope I can level up in this game.
