That is the most controlled Blanka I have ever seen. 95% of Blanka players are hopping, jumping and rolling all over the place, but that guy was just happy to sit at a safe distance the whole time like "What are you gonna do about it?"
And JSMaster has the best Boxer I've ever seen. He's so damn aggressive!

I have some questions, people say Canada is free, I kind of agree with that but I would like to really know if we have the right to call them free. I don't know about the Canada players, but are some of them pro players or top players? Or are they just people playing for fun and coming to this tourney for fun? They faced top players from USA and Japan, so it's kind of hard to tell if they are "free" or not. I'm not trying to defend Canada but just want to know if people at this cup were all top players or a mix of fans and top player?
It was a mix of great and average players. It wasn't 100% of the best canadians either. We just don't have enough venues allowing us to show ourselves.
If some of you guys were watching the stream, JSMaster actually almost didn't come to the Canada Cup period. He managed to score tickets at the last minute. The way I see it, Canada may not be that great, but the scene up here isn't all that great either. I doubt too many enthusiasts are willing to book time off work or other commitments to play Street Fighter.
I'm sure I'll get countered back with, "But people in the US do it all the time." Yeah, there's also sponsorship and a SF tourney scene that will help promote and at least support top end talent. Canadian SF players and much like every other Canadian who left for the US have no such frame work to rely on. That being said, if the top players don't show up, I don't see what's wrong with being called free. It's pretty much like not showing up to a fight, and isn't that freer than getting beaten?

funny thing about gootecks hating turtle blanka is that he mains balrog and most of the time hes always suggesting that people back up and play lame. Doesnt like the medicine i guess.
To anybody saying Canada is free, as someone who has lived in the US, Japan, and now in Canada, I can tell you that the fighting game scene in Canada is nonexistant. I have looked for people to practice with for months here in Vancouver. No one. It's so bad that I gave up on fighting games completely. So when if you're gonna talk sh!t about Canada, know the facts first. In Japan, the arcade culture was amazing, that's why to Japanese players, the US is free (refer to shiozawa cup 2009, and every tougeki the US every participated in). When JWong and his entire 5 man team gets decimated by a no-name Zangief in Japan, the US has no right to call Canada free. There are hardly any players because there's hardly any fighting game community.
Nice arguement mustain21. Free is a relative term, everyone loses to somebody therefore everyone is and can be free at any time.

first. that blanka make me gonna puke, I hate turtles, and with that "very punishable rolling atack" and "very long recovery on electricity" I'm glad they will nerf those spamable moves
second. whoo a balrog agresive? with those God jabs and safe rush punch, and a very fast sweep that is safe.... mmm must be dificult to rush with that guy, they must nerf those jabs instead of buffalo head....

and to people saying Canada is free, 95% of the east coast players wasn't present at Canada Cup, there was only JSMaster and a couple others that represented East Coast and JS did a hell of a job to make Canada as a whole, look good.
@ AlphaBeta, yeah I know Montreal and Toronto both have a decent community, but it's only a tiny fraction of the US's fighting game community. Canada's population is 10 times smaller than the US' but our fighting community is a probably 100 times smaller. I wish I could join the Montreal and Toronto community, but my job requires me to stay in Vancouver. Too bad :/

Nerfing his st jab will just mean we'll see more crouching balrogs. What they needed to do was nerf the jab as a whole. Instead of having +5 standing +4 crouching on block(honestly, that is alittle retarded) cut it down to 3s. It will still be a good move cause it has alot of range. And in return for that u make his low rush and overhead rush faster and safer on block. So now balrog would have a stronger mix up game.
What exactly are the properties of Balrog's jab that make it better than everyone elses? Don't they all have a 3 frame start up or something (I don't read frame data so someone please clarify).
@redfactor #60, when they say "Canada is free" they mean Canadian players are so easy to beat, they're nothing to worry about. Beating them is given, or "free". Maybe you were thinking "free" in the sense of "liberty" but it's actually "free" in the sense of value. "Buy one get one free" or "Fly to Canada, beat everyone free".
Riceta has very good spacing and patience but needs to punish fireballs a little better IMO should have taken a couple of risks after ryus low foward into fireball for example

Note that in part 1, that first match where Rufus beats Sagat did not count. The real thing starts at 2:38 with Aloha (ZA) Ricky Ortiz (RU). Watch what happens. THAT would qualify as "free". JWong plays last with Rufus.
I main Zangief and yeah....a Blanka who turtles is annoying, REALLY annoying. Though landing U2 on their ass is always refreshing....
I don't see what's wrong with Boxer having a crazy good jab, he's a boxer, it makes sense for his design. ;) I'd say the same for Dudley as well, everyone's got their pro's and con's.
As far as I'm concerned, Canada will never be free with JSMasters....really AMAZING Balrog. I love his style of play. Most pro Balrogs are turtles, he actually plays aggressive, baiting for trades. I think maybe it even suits Balrog as a character more too....awesome stuff.
Beating Mago+Daigo is nothing to take lightly.

him having a good jab does make sense, but when u look at the frame data it really, really puts things into perceptive. Consider this, balrogs standing jab gives more frame advantage on block then most of the cast lvl 2 focus attacks

man balrog is such a nasty match up for rufus. Theres not much chance for rufus to get in especially against such a good one like JSMaster. Still, if JSMaster made one mistake, the whole match would've turned out differently, people make it sound easy to control the other player. Look at JS's move selection he used the right attack almost everytime. Still it seemed like jwong didn't have his thinking cap on, oh well.
Hehe, now that’s why I hate Blanka. Don’t get me wrong, that guy is really, really good, especially at spacing, but it’s just incredibly annoying to fight people like that. Nice to watch though.

I dont think you realize how big canada is, one team took MORE THAN 2 DAYS TO GET THERE BY ROAD, why the hell would people drive out that far. East coast Canada will f*** most americans. To the dumbass that said js master found his way out there, thats cuz he s**t on arturo in montreal during high roller tournament to get his trip paid for.
