Wal-Mart is offering a very nice package deal with a Standard Edition FightStick and vanilla Street Fighter 4 for $29, for both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.someone that has only pc and want a stick for start practicing i guess, its a good deal
I have an SE stick but I bought a TE later on. SE stick is good, especially for this price. They cost 70-80 when it came out and now they are about $50. $29 is such a great price, especially with a free game.
This would work as a gift for christmas to if you know someone who might get into fighting games but hasn't.
Bought I am going to play some champ mode in SF4 lol. I am going to swap out the parts on the SE then I am good to go. I will use the SE at tourneys.
Can anyone confirm that this is possible in Canada?
This is a steal at 30 dollars, I have 1 mvc2 te, 1 regular te, 2 te-s sticks, but i want another to mod with seimitsu parts.
well I bought a SE stick earlier this year and have pretty much survived with it for as long as i've had SuperSF4. I've managed to do all trials for about 20 of the characters (including Vipers) with it, so its not too bad, or it was just unnecessary overkill for my hands.
If you decide to get a SE stick, the stick and buttons will be less sensitive and you'll have to actually press them as opposed to the TE stick where you just "touch" them. Also, my roundhouse button kinda died and is very unreliable unless I hit a sweet spot on it, so meh. Go with the TE for more potential. I just bought a TE stick off Ebay recently, actuallly, i'mma go check the mail right now to see if it arrived. woot!
Good deal now I can finally get a X360 stick for all my tourneys. Couple of these plus Mods would be cheaper then 1 TE stick good deal.
*facepalm*
I was at Walmart yesterday. How the flip did I miss this? -_-
I still play vanilla on PC, PC FTW, cant wait till AE PC.
If you need a stick at all this is a good price. You're getting a discounted stick and basically SF4 free, which could be nice if you don't have colors 11 and 12, I guess. :P
@23 thats why we just refer to it as vanilla and nothing more vanilla ssf4 would be confuzzling
(Going to buy my first Fightstick, thanks Eventhubs!)
Not sure why people are complaining the stick sucks, when you can easily replace the buttons, and the stick itself. There are several tutorial videos on youtube. Most barebone cases are in the 40-60 dollar range, so just for the case itself this is worth, plus the pcb. Just switch out buttons and stick, and you have a tournament ready arcade stick.
"you could always do a trade in of the title at your local game store to help offset the price even more"
Last time I checked, the trade-in value of SF4 was $2.
$29 is a good price for an SE, though.
@37
Thanks. Would it be a good idea to go for the TEasy mod? It's $34 and it says it'll work for the SE stick and it's completely solderless. Are the other options better?
@38
With the TEasy Mod you need both that board (TEasy Mod) and a secondary PCB (such as a Cthulhu). If you know how to solder, which takes all of 20 minutes to learn, it costs half as much to just do it without the TEasy board. The TEasy Mod is just to make it easier.
However if you do not want to [learn to] solder and do it the harder way, it's usually cheaper to go the TEasy route than to pay someone to dual mod it for you, especially if you have to pay to ship the stick back and forth.
I heard the stick itself will last a little while......so if you pad warriors want to try out sticks, this is the perfect opportunity.
@40
Thanks for the explanation. I didn't realize that the TEasy is a bridge piece between the Mad Catz 360 PCB and the Cthulhu PS3 PCB, made for the purpose of an easy, solder-free install. I know how to solder, but I'm mostly paranoid of messing up. But I can complete a dual-mod without spending $34 on the TEasy, then perhaps I'll study up a bit more and just do it myself.
@44
Just pointing out that the video you linked is actually using a Dual Strike:

Apparently if you use a Cthulhu you still have to do a minimal amount of soldering. With a Dual Strike it is completely solder free.
This is worth it just to buy and mod, i'm all in for this.
Deal not available in Canada. Just checked with my buddy there. Also, the Walmart USA website doesnt ship to Canada.
