I guess this makes the Resident Evil series to be the first to have a trio representing it.
It's also on Ebgames as well, but I didn't see a soundtrack CD. I'm switching my order!!!
http://www.ebgames.com/Catalog/Produc...
wow capcom ready to cash in on DLC characters before the final roster is shown. time to go cry in the corner, and now shuma-gorath is confirm from that random leaked list
(FYI Gamestop = Ebgames now. Just sayin'.
Also, WOOT JILL IS A MEMBER OF THE STARS! I'm happy Shuma is back, too, but I couldn't do his moves for shiz T-T)
@#5
We've been informed since day 1 that, they would be DLC characters.
DLC characters no problem. DLC shown about three-four months from release date... that's bad. Just make sure you can put in what you want to put in and then release the game.
I was under an impression that DLC would be done by fan demand after the game was released. Knowing Capcom, they're probably already on the disk too.
the game will bring 30 fighters,
the DLC will bring 60 more fighters,lol
I'd hold my opinion right now about DLC. They might be doing it like BlazBlue with Mu-12. You can unlock them by doing some rigorous challenge or be lazy or time consumed at work (in my case) and buy them instead.
http://www.gamestop.com/gs/images/bon...
Check the side of the box! You can see some of the art off the back! Looks like PSYLCOKE!!!
@#5 i knew there was gonna be DLC characters but damn, showing them before the final roster and way before release. thats like saying yea we started throwing in them questionable characters so we can save the meat for DLC and cash it in.
Bring in Donna Troy, Harley Quinn, and Batman.
Haha, I know they are DC, but I can imagine just how good well they would play in this game's style of play.
If only this was Marvel vs. DC vs. Capcom :(
@14
I seriously doubt that. Because Arc Sys actually cares about their fans lol. They gave the option to buy Mu just in case some people are not good enough to unlock by themselves.
Capcom is a money-grubbing company, everybody knows that :)
@15
That MVC3 picture of Jill is sexy.
Also, which picture are you looking at? If you are talking about the artwork on the left (the girl in the middle), I think it's Tron Bonne.
Although I would love for Psylocke to be in this game.
Nah, just that little edge to the side of the actual disc. Blue wraps around some kind of limb. Probably from the back artwork they aren't showing off!
What I like about this is the implication that DLC characters are a possibility. What I don't is that there is day 28 DLC which is "included" in the collector's edition. If Jill and Shuma Gorath end up being good, it will force 70% of the players to HAVE to download them. It also means tournaments might be a tiny bit harder to run because they have to be downloaded to every machine(unless they are banned, like in SCIV, the only other fighting game I know of with DLC characters).
But whatever, this game is going to be rubbish anyway with still no characters from Breath of Fire or Phoenix Wright. When they announced Thor, I had high hopes, but it seems like he's the worst character released so far, so I'm skeptical about that as well.
#7...yea but not everyone knew that.
Aniways, I don't really care much about Shuma tbh BUT on the other hand Jill is def the selling point here for me. Loved her in MVC2 and will love her in MVC3. I already have my first set team and back-up i think but let's see if she can sneak her way into my top 3 lol. All in all, I'm very excited---I was gonna get a collector's edition regardless! BTW(as I assume but hope so aniways, since these companies these days are money grubbing whores) ...let's keep are fingers crossed for this "DLC" to be F-R-E-E and not P-AI-D for those of us who ACTUALLY purchase this edition----am I right?
@#31
Eh i dont mind the new look of Jill, This is 2010, so if 2010 Jill was the one with the blond ponytail so be it. Besides i actually like the contrast between the coustumes of Wesker Jill and Chris. Though i wonder whether jill will play like a faster run and gun shooter then chris with some cqc skills like wesker or try to make her more like her MvC2 playstyle. Only time will tell.
If this game gets any better I will spontaneously combust
So I'm REALLY THE ONLY ONE who sees PSYLOCKE on that LITTLE EDGE next to the DISC?
Is this exciting new news making me go crazy? It's possible.
@theknight618
Lol i see it dude, it is just very hard to tell. Btw what is the blue face right above that striped arm O_o?(Btw the arm in question is on the 3rd box from the right on the right side of the slot where the MvC3 disk would be. Bad representation of the boxes--->[][][This box][] )
Nevermind. It's the side of this art:
http://www.udonentertainment.com/blog...
which didn't show up anywhere else in the pic, so I forgot about it (though it's my favorite). No Psylocke. At least not yet.
@theknight618, those colors on the side of the disc are the same colors as Wolverine's shoulders. So I think that is just Wolvie, but that face above it looks like it could be something. To me it looks like a dude with a blue helmet?, with red eyes and you could see him laughing as well.
Any way I'm totally sold on this special edition, it's only 10 more dollars for a lot of great content.
http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost....
Storm? Eh, whatever
Taskmaster? Sounds cool
So it's come to this, Capcom? Characters relegated to DLC preorder specials.
Ain't this a bitch.
For anyone who wants it a supposed "leaked list" has been put on shoryuken.com, and it was said to be pretty legit because it specifically said that shun and jill were DLC, and megaman was not on it :O!
DLC may save this game from some of its terrible character choices.
man this special edition is so worth it this is way more better then the sf4 special edition which wasn't all that great but two dlc characters with along with a tin box of goodies you can't say you do not want this man capcom you sure do know how to rob people of their money.
I have mixed feelings about this. I'm glad Jill made it into the game, but at the same time I don't like the idea of DLC characters at release date. I mean, if this info is true, then is pretty obvious those characters are being developed right now side by side with rest of the cast, then why not include them in the game as standard characters instead of as DLC?
I can`t stand reading more "leaked lists".
Obviously all of them are a fake, they always appear after new announcements and confirmations. I don't doubt that they are based on correct primary or long draft lists, but any of them are the final one.I'm sure that Capcom will mantain their secret very well protected until the end, maybe with two final surprising characters. Seth said they were working on it, trying to increase the final roster.
Jill wasn't in any list. I don't need more proves.
wait, so if you don't pre-order you won't get these 2 characters till when? because frankly neither of these characters appeal to me in any way. i'm just wondering what's the big deal, isn't the game coming out in like 5 months? shouldn't this just be regular content. if you're gonna add dlc at least incorporate better more wanted characters like ghost rider, or punisher, shoot..even professor x would be awesome in this game. how bout night crawler? there are so many overlooked chars it's not even funny ;( too bad this game is merely for marvel to advertise their upcoming projects then to please their current fans, that's big business for you.
leak list is wrong cuz theres shotos and a darkstalker on it and they were disconfirmed. why do peeps keep posting garbage lists and expect people to believe them?
Akuma has been deconfirmed
Darkstalkers character have been Deconfirmed
Jean Grey( Dark Phoenix) has been deconfirmed
Seth said take the the shadows with a grain of salt
SO THAT THIS 'LIST' IS BULLSH*T http://shoryuken.com/content/full-mar...
this is the best news ive heard from this game. my main team in mvc2 was jill, iron man and psylocke, so having her in the game is ultra crunk.
so in order to get Jill and shuma you have to buy the collectors edition? I would assume then that Jill and Shuma can be DLC for those that don't want to order the CE at a price of course.
I think it's for certain that capcom will do more DLC when there is demand for it. Sure enough I would be eager to get my hands on Jill and Shuma when the game comes out. They are both fun characters to use.
Sheesh, can everyone shut up about those moronic leaked lists, please? It's getting old, & has been proven wrong time & time again.
Dormammu, Jill Valentine, & Modok: Never on the leaked roster.
Akuma, Emma Frost, Mr. Fantastic: Deconfirmed.
When will you people get it through your thick skulls? Stop believing everything that's unofficial when it first pops up.
@ #79 - how did they 'screw us up"? Did you see the price of the Special Edition? Just freaking go buy it and get the DLC characters! What's the big deal? Its not as if they are asking for $100 just to get the 2 characters. Anyone can opt to buy this AWESOME looking special edition and get the DLC characters as a bonus. Why get the regular version if you are such a hardcore fan anyways? BlazBlue pulled the same trick with Continuum Shift. DLC is used as an incentive from ALL companies nowadays. You can expect more DLC characters to be released during the course of the next year and perhaps beyond and that isn't a bad thing at all.
Special edition!Jill Valentine!!Shuma-Gorath!!!Hyped!But I have to pay extra for them!!!!Nooo!...Shuma-Gorath,Super Skrull,and Zero ma new team:)
@82 "how did they 'screw us up"?"
By adding DLC before the game is even out. Full Price game is no longer $60 its now $70. Its one thing to have DLC AFTER the game comes out. Like Few months later. Then its more optional. But what we have here is you got characters ready for DLC on game release well there is no excuse for them just to be in the regular roster.
TLDR: DLC on RELEASE Date should just be with full game. $60=unfinished game $70= finished game. Thats just bullsh!t.
@KenScrub
The whole idea of this promotion is to give people a reason to buy the Collector edition. If you think that Capcom would have spent time and money to develop Jill and Shuma Gorath if there wasn't going to be a collector's edition, that's just bulldroppings.
@#84
The DLC is a timed release, we still have no idea if and how much they will cost. What i am saying is, if you really want the game its best to pay $60 for a handsome Special Edition and get those for free. The Special Edition is well worth the $60 IMO, you get an exclusive comic book, a great steel case, 2 DLC characters for free plus more. So fans are probably going to get the SE while those who aren't really fans of the series and just buy it for a casual play-through won't probably care much for Jill and Shuma. Since Capcom is making the DLC available 4 months after the game's release it means that they never intended on having them as part of the core game.
On that note, Sven and Seth, when discussing aspects of SSF IV, they said they wouldn't charge for DLC which is essential and not pure cosmetic and that seemed to include gameplay additions.tweaks but also characters...? Maybe the DLC fighters won't go on sale. Maybe its how Namco had Darth Vader on PS3 and Yoda on 360 versions of Soul Calibur IV and then they offered both as paid DLC? So far we only have the GameStop deal. Maybe more deals with other stores will come up which may (or may not) include different characters - just as it was the case with, let's say, Need for Speed Hot Pursuit where depending on where you pre-order the game you get a different set of bonus cars.
And speaking of racing games, that's not all that different is it? Forza3, Need for Speed and various other games offer extra car packs all the time. So what stops fighting games from following a similar path?
i wonder which jill they will use. Old mvc2 jill or re5 body suit jill? SHe might be an all new character this time around, could be interesting.
OMG I use Shuma Gorath in Marvel Super Hero's vs Street Fighter and MvsC2. I hope he's still a charge based character. Mystic Stare FTW
Jill looks like a new character. I hope Excella or Sheva are in the the game.
@67
Yeah. Ever heard of gratitude? Wait this is Eventhubs. That doesn't exist here.
Well, let me break this down for you, Capcom didn't HAVE to make this game. They didn't even originally WANT to. But you and I begged and hoped a petitioned, and... What do you know? Due to FAN DEMAND, they decided to pull this project together. And unless I'm mistaken, that's a favor. They made this for US. They even shipped over TVC for the die hard fan base for that game.
So should we be glad? What the f@#k do YOU think?
WTF? why the f*** is everyone crying about the dlc characters ten more measly bucks you get almost 40 dollars or more worth of cool stuff which seems worth it and besides haven't you heard dlc is the way to go look at arc systems what they are doing with bbct alot of people said they were not buying any of the dlc characters yea...sure you would be very surprised to see valkenhayns and mokotos showing up online.
@#97 Shareware
Mr. or Ms. Shareware,
¿Gratitude? Sure, let's thank them for making up a game that will be sold to us with download content that will most likely be in the disc in the first place (so you might probably pay to unlock them, actually, so the word "downloadable" is redundant, happened with Versus Mode in RE5 ¿Remember? People went crazy against that one).
It's business, not a favor. Don't be delusional, in this case you are mistaken, they are the ones making money, unless you become a pro and start winning tournaments or giving out expensive lessons.
A favor would be to take every request into consideration and to add DLC for free, that would be a favor. But since this is a business, they won't.
And yes, it's annoying they have to release Jill and Shumie as "DLC", because the game has not been released yet. It would be understandable that they decided to put them in -after- the release, and to actually download the characters, not just unlock them.
If Resi has a trio now maybe, hopefully we will get Virgil as well. If we do that would be a nice bonus considering last night my team was completed after they announced Zero who will be joining Dante and Magneto.
Come on Vergil!
Also I would say £2 maybe £3 (thats $3/$4 for my American friends out there) be a decent asking price for new DLC, maybe £5 or £6 ($8 $9) at the most if they decide to release DLC as a double pack (of both Capcom and Marvel). I would never expect a free character but they are more than welcome to make them free if they really feel like it lol
I just hope they don't punt them out at a price like £5/$8 a pop for one character like with BlazBlue's DLC characters
the only villain Capcom has is Wesker(Tron Bonne?),its a little strange...no Willy,Sigma,Seth,Gill,Bison,Pyron,Jedah.
relax people, they are giving you the dlc, but we dont know when that dlc will be out, maybe they will start working on them little before the game is finished.
yup i have a little too much hope in humanity
my only problem with this is that they picked the uglyest jill possible, i love her but with that aweful suit and dyed hair is just meh.
I can't believe the people who are rejoicing over this news. Yeah sure, more characters are great! Us finding out that there are going to be DLC chars months and months before the game is even finished yet? Very bad. I'm sorry. Anytime a company has content ready pre-release and then tacks it on as DLC, that is just shameful.
Unfortunately Capcom has shown us with Resident Evil and Street Fighter that it has no clue how to do DLC right in a way that is pleasing to fans. Charging us for costumes in a genre that generally has multiple costumes for each char already in the game/vs. mode in RE, etc.
I know there are a lot of people that just have the extra money to blow, so it's no big deal for them. For others though, paying more money on top of the game for extra characters who are ready in time for the game's initial release is appalling.
I doubt Capcom will do anything about it though. They will continue with their plan. Too bad it's yet another Capcom DLC plan that makes my eyes rain.
They both will probably have the same move sets from MvC2.
Hey guys, you all realize that having these characters as DLC probably wasn't part of Capcom's original plan, right?
Gamestop is probably throwing sh*t tons of money at Capcom in order to be able to offer some sort of pre-order exclusive. They do it all the time. I don't like it, but that's the way things work.
Thank god Jill! I was afraid that they weren't going to include her because Whesker and Chris got in..
Tho shame it's RE5 Jill,I like her old look alot more..
Even in the RE5 DLC mission she's wearing a baseball cap instead of a baret..
I know i'm nitpicking but still :P.
Stop the QQ people. DLC is great news, it means we're getting a shipload of new characters. Can't wait to see where CAPCOM is headed with that. I'd love me some Hayato, but he isn't the most popular fellow around, so we'll probably get some more crazy dudes to fight with.
@#111
More characters is great news. Shelling out extra $$$ for them is not.
Getting this... 'nuff said. I only wished that her alternate costume would be Jill from the older RE games.
@#119
I own a business myself, of course I don't expect them to work for free. I do expect them to not take work already done during the normal production cycle, take them out and sell them as DLC to make extra $$$ off of me.
watch them make a children of the atom pack with storm cyclops and psylocke. idc ill pay for every dlc even for characters i don't care about.
@110 I don't know man Res5 jill is pretty sexy.. but original jill would be nice but only as an alt costume. I like Res5 jill
Wonder if you are able to fight people with the dlc characters if you didnt buy it yourself. Wouldnt that make it a nightmare for 360 users?
And agreed with @121 trying to make extra money already when still on the normal working cycle is pretty messed up unless they have another external team working on it which would lead to balancing issues.
I don't like this at all. This is the kind of nonsense people talk about with DLC being used to sell a game for more than the current $60 with content that should be on the disc in the first place. What happens to the people who don't buy them, especially in online play and the tournament scene? Are they even going to be available outside of the collector's edition? This is going to be a disaster unless people are paying for the rest of the stuff in the collector's edition, they're just going the DLC characters earlier than everyone else gets them free, and they can't use them in ranked matches until then.
Hey i'm a little tired of people saying that they want old looks back from characters. Theres one thing you have to realize is that this is a new version of marvel vs capcom. Of coarse you going to have new looks in a highly cell shaded game. Bringing back the 2003 old looks is not new like you know. What i'm trying to say is people bitch about the little things. Its repetitive -_-
One thing i notice is that you not paying for the characters!!!!!!!!!!! you paying for the collectors addition
@Creeper,
if you read the details about the DLC, you would have noticed that it says they will be "available 4 weeks post-launch." Which means that buying the collector's edition will give you a code for downloading Shuma-Gorath and Jill Valentine when they become available, 4 weeks after the game comes out. So, nobody will have any "advantage" of any kind.
Besides, it's freaking Shuma-Gorath and Jill, two not-so-popular characters (when it comes to MvC), so those two characters won't drastically change anything by not being available right away. I'd be more concerned if they made someone like Storm as DLC.
On top of that, you should already know that they'll have a compatibility patch for those who choose not to purchase them. I think it's a bit of an overreaction to declare this a disaster. The tournament scene will simply either disregard DLC characters or make them fair game, and either option won't hurt tourneys one way or the other.
You have valid and understandable concerns, but I wouldn't really worry too much.
Shuma Gorath. A character who averages less than 1 comic appearance a year and doesn't even have a stable character design... I still love that he's included though.
@ Capcom
Wow! 2 more characters that have never been a Vs. Game...oh wait...
GOOD JOB SHAKING THINGS UP CAPCOM!?
When Okami was announced it was a Shocker...then everything else was..."about time"
This is more of a w/e kinda thing. Shuma has been in other fighting games and his design is Basic so it was an EASY decision. And Jill...well I'm sure her moves will be different.
Ignoring GodHand or Power Stone or a NEW Rival school character for now is kinda sad.
We all await the "big news" with Haggar and Frank "Yawn" West.
-Marvel Vs. Capcom 3- "YUP Marvel is still way cooler!"
http://www.capcom-europe.com/blog/201...
So bigger artwork pics for Jill and Shuma are out and confirmed release date by capcom to be February 18th. Boxart confirmed too. Hype?
I just hope this version of MvsC3 will be the final version.
I spent £60 on the collectors edtion for SF4, then they released SSF4 to correct the issues with SF4. NOW they're releasing SSF4 AE and I am pissed off!!
If I end up buying this Collectors Edtion and they decide to release Super Marvel vs Capcom 3, I will never trust Capcom again. I just hope they take their time with development so we don't have to fork out more money in the future.
Having said that, the game is looking fun so far and will be buying the standard version.
@134
I don't have a problem with a compatibility patch for, say, costumes in Super Street Fighter IV. They're cosmetic and don't effect the core gameplay. My main concern is segregating the community when they don't have to. I shouldn't sit down to an online match and have to say "well damn, they have characters I don't have, I have to pay for them or deal with it." Regardless of how bad or unpopular they are, fighting games are the one genre where some people shouldn't have an edge over others from the get-go. The collector's edition should include a few exclusive costumes or something, not characters.
I just hope its worth it, hope it doesnt turn out crap like it is now.
if you are buying this you are buying it for the trinkets, not the DLC. The characters were just lumped in there to get ppl who think that they can get extra characters other people won't to buy it. This discussion should be about the amount of goodies we get.
1.Tin box
2.decals
3."trading cards"
4.1 month subscription to marvel digital comics
5.prequel comic
i mean that's a a lot of stuff for ten more dollars
I am a little confused. Does this mean that you need to purchase the CE in order to have access to these characters?
Or that you can choose to "pre-pay" for them now by purchasing the CE and that anyone who did not can buy them when they go on sale 4 weeks after the release?
Soul Calibur 4 was the first fighting game to have this DLC character stuff. PS3 owners got to use Darth Vader before the 360 users and 360 owners had the chance to use Yoda before PS3 owners. Til this day, I never bought the DLC characters because I never used them.
Capcom haven't told us whether there will be any more DLC characters to pay for in the future. I doubt these are the only 2. Even if you buy the Collectors Edition you may still have to buy more characters.
Best thing to do is wait little til we get more info.
@chrisbreezy2
Hmm I think the Decal is the only thing that's decent in that list because it will make your console look nice.
"1 month subscription to marvel digital comics" should have been, "1 months free subscription to Xbox Live"
Yeh that's true. I suppose that's good compromise.
Ha this is funny. I remember them saying that for SF4 they didnt want to have pay to download characters(DJ and T Hawk) because it would give unfair advantages to those who bought the characters since the none purchasers could not practice or really learn their moves/style.
I duno another 10-20 bucks for 2 characters? I hope those are the only DLC ones since i'm not a fan of either.
Sorry bout putting leaked list up, just a curiosity thing. Anyways i hope that the DLC with collectors edition is more of a timed DLC, where people who get the collectors get the DLC for those characters first? Idk, hoping by the end all players can get Jill and Shuma, but i like the non-DLC list anyway so im in no rush to buy collectors
Sigh, if Jill and Shuma Gorath aren't going to be available as DLC characters, they would have never existed at all. Is that so hard to understand?
Screw project cycles and DLC before release dates. If you really know what projects are, you would also know what is a project scope and these two characters were never in that scope. They are in the DLC project scope. Live with it.
A better point is the one of fragmented community. It is still possible for you to play agasint the DLC characters and even maybe use them as training dummies. Maybe you just can't use them in any real matches. We'll have to wait for Capcom's announcement.
@54
I thought they were saying that for characters that were going to be in the official roster, thus they would be on the disc. Seeing as how the game is on two different consoles, one using blu-ray, The PS3 version could most likely hold both Jill and Shuma but the 360's disc cannot hold that much on it (FFXIII for example... On PS3 it all fits on one disc while on 360, 3 disc I believe?)
I think with DLC characters, they may have a little bit of freedom on the animation of what they can do. So maybe the same goes for more darkstalkers characters making the game later.
But this is all just my assumption. :)
wait wait wait......so are jill and shuma only DLC for the collectors edition?
The way it seems it most likely will not matter if you spend your ten extra dollars on launch or a few weeks after
Since on Blazblue, the dlc characters were about $4.99 anyway (plus tax puts them a little over five dollars)
So when you buy these characters as dlc, they will most likely be around the same price so chances are, You will spend ten bucks no matter how you choose to get them. I just see it like this... With the collector's you get a flashy case, and decals out of the whole deal... Oh and the digital comic one month subscription.. If you are into that sort of thing.
@ #164
I doubt it'll be just only for collectors edition. Probably collectors edition you'll receive the characters quicker.
@ 169
I really wanted Shuma-Gorath back as well as Jill. Also wanted Amingo but don't see that happening.
Okay, so fans actually did want Shuma-Gorath, but barely any. At this point, I'm beginning to think it's just pointless to do any requests for Capcom. "If fans want it, we'll give it." Yeah, right. When does Capcom ever listen to the fans or give them what they want? Every once in a blue moon. This right here is proof. Revealing DLC characters before the final roster is even revealed. What a load of bull. Sure, fans may have requested DLC characters, but did they actually requested Shuma-Gorath? They're just doing the DLC to try to "ful-fill fan requests" for DLC characters. Don't understand the point of that if it's just characters barely anyone requested.
I dont think i will get the special edition, id rather just play the game, but i am really hoping you can still BUY shuma gorath and jill valentine after the game is released if you didnt buy the special edition, cause then i got a resi team for capcom and an avengers team for marvel, does anyone on the site know if thats possible??
@derpsauce
I am not trying to start an argument or whatnot but, Is that not similar to what Capcom did with Street Fighter IV Collector's edition? You get a free costume pack free with it? So with your theory, didn't people just pay for dlc that was "already" on the disc as well?
@ 180 Yeah im from europe also so and if capcom are smart im sure they will sell the collectors here, and ahhh my worry has gone down now, i will be using jill thats for sure, jill and wesker and chris, 3 on 3 rather than 2 on 2, ooooh yeah ;)
Jill's dual-wielding Klobbs. She's gonna be garbage tier.
I stand by what I said about Capcom just adding in random characters to make the game interesting. I understand he was in MvC2, but outta Cable, Gambit, Thanos, BlackHeart, Bison, Son-Son, Strider, etc., they put in SHUMA GORATH? And from charadcters that haven't been in there, outta Bishop, Dr. Strange, Silver Surfer, X, etc., they put in SHE-HULK? Seriously, eff Capcom!
I'm really hyped!! Im really curious now what other chars they are gonna announce.. in the normal game and as dlc. I really hope chars like BB. hood, Apocalypse, Gambit and dr. Wily for instance.
The official artwork is so awesome.
Now I'm pretty sure this DLC will be available to everybody after 4 weeks. Just the people who shelled out for the damn $70 version will have a free download code or something. I don't care about all those extras, I'll save 16 dollars and get the normal game at my work.
No clarification yet on DLC available if you don't get the CE/Limited collection? There are many here wondering the same thing. I know $10 dollars more for extra stuff etc why not get it anyway.
About DLC - There are many that want Gambit and strider even Mega man, if those are available for DLC would you buy it? This DLC nonsense is really getting annoying. Even exclusives are sort of pissing me off. You become loyal to a retail store, getting games from them yet they don't have the characters/items you would like.
Any I have only done DLC to get new alts and even Darth/Yoda from SC4, It was well worth it. Personally I wouldn't mind getting DLC for one of the best games coming out in 2011. Again, There are many that want Gambit and strider even Mega man, if those are available for DLC wold you buy it? I think you will. Of course licensing agreements may not allow Capcom to have certain Marvel characters available to them.
I for one will get every character because MVC3 looks to be too much fun.
I'm so torn here. On one hand I hate the fact that there's DLC already mentioned before the game is even out. Don't want to buy. On the other hand, Jill is the character I most wanted in this game. So I gotta buy this for her. *sigh*
She better top tier for this. Or at least as fun to play with in this as she was in MvC2.
I'm sure Capcom will get asked about the DLC a lot very soon, but I really REALLY doubt they would make this DLC only available to the people who shelled out 70 bucks to Gamestop. I'm thinking those people will just get some sort of code (that probably won't work because Gamestop sucks) for a free download. The rest of us will have to drop a couple bucks for the DLC when it comes out. I'm fine with that. Obviously you won't be if you hate DLC, but that's your decision.
Not that you can tell by looking, but Shuma-Gorath is female, which technically makes her a woman in the Marvel line-up. Uncanny.
Man, toooo many ungrateful people, should of been glad they actually decided to make the game and has demonstrated down-loadable content. At least that gives you hope that more DLC would be coming, otherwise you will not have anything to expect for DLC and it would take much longer if they decided to. Well you don't have to buy the Collectors Edition for an extra 10 bucks you know. NO matter what people think, even if their characters are not in, the game is still AWESOME!!!
@197
How many people requested Shuma-Gorath, exactly? I mean, yeah, they promised DLC characters and they're releasing DLC characters, but that'd be pointless if they're characters barely anyone actually requested. If they're gonna do that, they might as well just throw them into the original roster. It's just like they're saying, "Oh, we're receiving criticism. Why not just put these characters in as DLC instead of the original roster so we'll look good since fans asked for DLC characters, anyway?"
Really, are people bitching about DLC? Christ...I expect those people weren't around back in the day where they would have to purchase a whole new game just for a few updates. $50 bucks for a whole new game versus $5-10 bucks for a DLC update, let me see...who wouldn't go for DLC?
I used to feel like you. "What's the deal with all this DLC? Why don't they put it in the game in the first place? They are milking us for all they can!" And in some truths, you're right. However, when SF4 came out and they revealed that the game didn't have the infrastructure to be updated. Even the costumes were already on the disc when the DLC was released.
Ever since online play became a reality on consoles and DLC became more relevant, I'd wondered if our favorite fighting games would be able to receive updates like Halo, COD, Mass Effect, Fallout 3, Red Dead and other numerous games get far after their original release date. The fact that fighting games took this long to start doing this amazes me, since (outside of sports games), it would benefit plenty from utilizing this medium to tweak and expand these games. Fighting games constantly endure balance issues and game-breaking glitches from their point of release, regardless of how many hours of beta-testing is logged before it hits shelves, so why not continue to improve upon the game by regular updates that we can download throughout the year. Instead of a game becoming stale over time, those DLC updates will continue to breathe new life into it long after it's release.
I've come to terms with DLC. As much as I hate paying extra for additional features, I have a choice whether to buy it or not. The continued release and purchase of DLC allows companies to gauge how much interest people have in the game and how to expand a game into a franchise if it proves popular enough.
Personally, I'm a fighting game nut and will probably end up buying every character on the roster that gets released, but that doesn't mean you have to - whether it's right away or at all. I'm certain after Capcom maxes out all the players they are going to release for MvC3, they'll drop a combo pack for folks to buy all the characters in one-fell-swoop - and at a lower rate than what it would cost to buy them individually. If you're patient, you stand to benefit when that happens, or you can even wait for a "Game-Of-The-Year-Edition" and buy the game all over again with all the bells-and-whistles. If you do, you're a far more patient than I am. If you don't care about the DLC or plan to protest MvC3 due to it, no one's going to miss you when we're playing it a few months from now.
Like it or not, DLC is here to stay. In the long-run, it's very beneficial to the fighting game genre and I can't wait to see how it works for MvC3 and SSF4. Many thanks to Arc System Works for encouraging other companies to take this approach when they did it for BlazBlue: Continuum Shift.
Shuma-Gorath I think is unique charter something that's seems to be a staple in the MVC universe. I liked him/her when he/she/it was in his/her/it's first one Game. forgot what that was.
Anyways I would like to see more Marvel characters like Spiral and Silver samurai. Even Ice Man, Omega red, Venom. It seems these characters weren't popular because they weren't in the top tiers. i'd like to seem them as DLC. I wold certainly pay for them.
@190
No he isn't.
@192
He's basically a Cthulhu-like Ancient being in the Marvel universe. Check it out: http://marvel.wikia.com/Shuma-Gorath_...
http://marvel.wikia.com/Shuma_Gorath
i had no idea, shuma gorath is one seriously evil dude
Some of u guys are looking to hard. That is not Psylocke in the back, it is Wolverine's shoulder. You clearly see the color of the BLUE stripes and the yellow behind them and the hairy arm under them. Psylocke's outfit is purple.
I think that it's kind of early to do DLC, but whatever. These 2 should def. be in the game. I personally don't like DLC. Hopefully they make it on a disc later on down the line. I pray that none of my requested characters get cut from the final disk.
DLC characters? For a game like this? That sux 4 people who don't have online access 4 their consoles.
Now, I could be dead wrong, but I beleive what they mean is that when you buy the collectors edition, you get all the extra stuff ALONG with the codes to get the DLC characters 4 weeks later when they are available. meaning that you will get the characters the same time everyone else does if you buy the CE. No one would be getting an advantage over others, only those who chose not to by the characters EVER. Why capcom would anounce DLC before the roster is even revealed is beyond me, but I would like to beleive that if we were to wait for them to include everyone on the disk, we'd be waiting till march before we could even play the game.
Blazblue characters cost $8 each character... Marvel vs Capcom characters are going to cost the same or even more... so don't be so happy. The option to always have more characters is something really good and hopefully we can eventually get as much characters as MvC2 but our wallets are going to suffer without any doubts.
Yes Jill is in the game. My cousin will be happy to hear this news.
im finally happy with the game now, that jills in it....and yes, i bet there will be more dlc to come, if they already showing them 2
damn I'm so happy Shuma Gorath is in the game. he's been my favorite since Marvel Super Heroes on saturn but what a bitch that i have to pay an extra 20 bucks for him
Just came back from EB Games and it doesn't appear to be available in Canada yet.. sadface..
having dlc characters as optional would greatly reduce the game's competitive scene.
ok cool sweet i just have on thing to ask you plzzzzzz put storm in plzzzz she would be awsome
I love some idiots on this site are whining about dlc when just a short time ago they were whining that Capcom better have (deconfirmed character) as dlc. It's also funny how many people act like the current dlc is already on the disc when it clearly says that it won't be released until a month after the launch of the game(and this includes people who pre-order it)which tells me that the characters are still in development and because of time constraints won't be available on disc. It's really sad that a company tries to give it's fans everything they ask for and yet no matter what they do their "fans" are never happy.
Im just happy ma boy Shuma-Gorath is in.like it or not dlc is here to stay,id would seriously prefer all of them on the disc already when i buy it,but oh well the ancient one Shuma-Gorath is in!!!!
but seriously paying extra cash for Shuma Gorath plus i dont have my ps3 online at the moment sucks,hopefuly by that time il have online and snag that ancient octupus god like demon creature thing for my team.
This has nothing to do with cars.

Yeah Arc System truly "cares" about the fans. That's why their DLC fighters cost 7.99 and they re-released the first game and only added 2 or 3 characters you don't have to pay for :> yeah they truly care. Not money grubbing at ALL ;/
people are crying about the cover and dlc damn, we shouldn't care, the game is coming out in mid february we should all be happy. we all wanted dlc and now that we are getting it. what happened to the people on this site that wanted dlc? this character is a wasted slot, people think mega man might be dlc, oh well if he is they are going to bank off of him. marvel and capcom have to eat also they have done so many promotions for this game,they have to make money back. people complained about mvc2 that had a lot of xmen but this game has a lot of avengers and you want ms marvel? some people on here are kinda crazy. im not interested in jill or shuma but ill get them because who knows i might like there moves. for those who don't have internet i understand you guys. i wonder how capcom will resolve that problem. also, for those who dont have the extra money i understand that also, as for dlc, it would be cool if they sold like little usb sticks that had the character and you can transfer them for those who don't have online. idk if that's even possible to do, they have to be able to reach the offline market some how.
@#245
Blazblue actually has a storyline to it though. The 2nd game was more than just game mechanic tweaks and character additions. If it was just "traveling across the world fucking people up and OH NO, EVIL DUDE AT THE END MUST BEAT!" for the story, like the Street Fighter series, then I'd understand how you'd feel it's the same game re-released. However, Blazblue actually has a plot.
id pay 20 more bucks capcom if you add bb hood and Demetri =>
#247 The story can be as nice as it once but when I feel I could get the same thing for less with more characters in guilty gear it doesn't work. Also The original argument had nothing to do with it's story. Since I didn't play far the story could be awesome but the point was arguing capcom having dlc and saying it's a rip but Blazblu also does it but that is ok. In other words it's a logic falsie. Not to mention we don't even know how much they are going to cost in MVC3. Also before you say but we know about them before release..we knew about Makoto before release. So that argument doesn't work either. Now you may bring up the price and why I mention it as a negative. Soul Calibur 4 had one DLC fighter for me it was Yoda. He cost me 4.99 and I actually was fine with that. Wasn't TOO much but not cheap and I had the last fighter. While Makoto costs 7.99 and I believe there are 3-4 other dlc fighters all priced 7.99. Oh one thing I want to make fun of....so every other fighter has no plot ;>
for the record I am happy to dlc and like dlc in games :>
#245 I actually do like anime. Then again I also like western animation. i am just a comic video game and animation fan. To be fair though I do as of late prefer American comics over Japanese
@#34
I don't know, maybe... they don't really show the back so it could be. It does look like Psylocke's leg though.
@249 yeah lets not forget that not only do you get the dlc blazblue characters, but you also get a tutorial mode, challenge mode, the color pack, and the unlimited form of said characters. I find it crappy that you have to paid for colors and unlimited forms that you might not even use, but in the end. There is a reason they cost 7.99. With that being said people should just wait to see how much the MvC3 dlc cost, who knows. It could be a reasonable price.
#254 agreed. I am expecting if they are two packs they will be 7.99...don't quote me though
I was right ,proof

All I was saying was that the comparison between the two wasn't so accurate. SSFIV kept the same story, adding a few new bits to it, but updating the cast list. Blazblue was the opposite, it updated the story and added a bit of new characters.
And yeah, most fighting games don't have great plots. Blazblue's plot is elaborate enough to fit in a comic on it's own, with out improvising and relying on just fight scenes to keep the reader's entertained.
#257
I originally wrote the plots of all the games but then I decided to do this instead quote...you
"SSFIV kept the same story, adding a few new bits to it, but updating the cast list "
"Blazblue was the opposite, it updated the story and added a bit of new characters."
So in other words they both changed the story a bit...that's the same thing :/. The only difference....The amount of characters added. Updating and adding bits are the same thing. Sorry you may want to proof read to keep from making errors like this. The comparison was also based on how much gameplay you get out of the two. Though to insult Blazblue's story and characters over all. I liked them better when it was called Guilty Gear.
#260
I know :> I just liked how he said the same thing twice with different wording
Hope the pack is free as T6 & not even limited time offer T6 & the Activision's MUA, X-Men & Spider-Man series. According to the MvC popularity: Cyclops & Ken Master are the only top character & might be the key as DLC.
