You can find more money matches on Karaface's YouTube channel.
Only the biggest of lamos play Dhalsim. The lesser homos play Ryu,Ken,Akuma,Gouken.
ryan just shot right up the sf4 ranks. his sim is so god like.
hasnt it always been hard for ryu? if it got worse then how?or why
I wish people would learn to shut their holes when a money match is going on. Is it really that hard to not talk during the key points of a match and do the oohs and ahhs during the right points?
Can you really not STFU for 5 freaking minutes?
Good match BTW. Ryan proved SoCal Regs weren't a fluke and he's got the upperhand on Daigo.
i despise sim in every i do not respect this character existence whats so ever very lame character
I have to say this...... ANY player who can play Dhalsim like that deserves to be a top notch player. Dhalsim has great moves, but his slow speed makes him a very difficult character to master. BRAVO.... great match to both of them. I will never be a pro, but then again.... I don't care to. Thats just too much time to learn and fiddle with lol. I got research papers to turn in!! But, I DO love watching the pro giants go at it like this.... simply awesome!
Shouldn't Sako use Cammy instead since the match is 6:4 in Cammy's favor?
I'm kinda sick of D'ism matches. Were there other money matches?
wat is with the street fighter community and the "n" word...even the white dudes are sayin it....wtf is goin on lmao!! jus throwin that out like its just a regular word haha...silly ppl these days....neways great match but man is facing sim the most annoying match ever....such a yawnfest watching a "good" sim player play keep away...but big ups to Champ i guess...i just hate sim :/
I would have rather seen Daigo go up against Justin or Marn in the Grand Finals. It was tense and all, but yeah watching a Sim just play keep-away all day is kinda boring...
Dhalsim is a character that requires a lot of hard work and practice, yes he may be boring to watch in a tournament scene and he is literally dependent on keep aways, but you must all realize the pressure of playing a keep away character against such players like Daigo, with his aggressive in-your-face playstyle.
He is not a lame character, he is practically the only character in the game that has this unique playstyle, and if this game was full of shotos and less diversity among characters, we wouldn't enjoy Street Fighter as much as we do now.
@28 except sagat and akuma have about as many offensive tools as they have defensive tools, not to mention neither of them get destroyed in the corner or on wakeup because akuma's teleport is actually useful and they can both do shoryu fadc as a get out of jail free card. there's a difference between having a tool that allows you to zone and having 90% of your character's strengths built around needing to masterfully maintain it.
getting kind of tired of the dhalsim hate. sf isn't about combos. since when is impeccable spacing, timing, zoning, pressure and mindgames between two high level players boring?
Even though Daigo did take 2nd which is still phenomenal...He did show he can bounce back from a couple bad tournies, he is almost back out of his slump. Good Turtle play by F.Champ.
@struggs
no one is questioning FC's skill, but ryu vs sim is vastly in sim's favor, so to have to face a ryu user twice? and its the same one you beat to get in the finals? thats luck and fortunate for the sim user
@fegis
I like how you label Americans as smack talkers where there are plenty of us who don't do that at all, and are very respectful of others offering them hand shakes or even hugs when they beat us or we beat them.
Daigo doesn't represent every person in Japan. FiliChamp doesn't represent every person in America. Get over your ethnic stereotypes.
lol at all the people still butthurt cuz daigo lost.
WAHH WAHH the match is in sim's favor! WAHH WAHH!
all you kids need to go cry somewhere else. Daigo made too many mistakes and got smacked around a lot.
The real question is, why was Daigo so impatient?
Sorry to sound like a n00b, but what is a money match? I looked it up in reference to SF and fighting games and didn't find anything useful. Do the players each put up money and winner takes all? Or is it a single sponsored match?
I saw a post surprised about how people were paying to play Daigo in Kuwait saying it could be a way around money matches there.
IYO ,ARTURO NOW FILIPINO CHAMP ,
daigo always had problems with dhalsim but daigo gave away a lot off those matches by being impatient when he had a sizeable lead. i would let dhalsim sit in the corner al he wanted when i'm the one with the big life lead.
Why is Daigo losing to a Sim that doesn't even know how to do any combos and only spams normals. Should have played a bit more patient and let him come to you when you are in a huge life lead already. I think more jump in spin kicks to avoid the knee would have been good move. Worked out for him a few times.
#3 what do you know about Gouken, GTFO with that BS.
#24 it is just another word it only has the power toward those it applies to and stupid people. Calm your self.
Filipino Champ probably doesn't want to play Fei Long MM now after Sako beated him with Fei.
(#4)their is nothing god - like about filipino champ dhal ,he's just another top level dhal who beat daigo just like arturo once did ,he hardly wins any tournaments or even places .
daigo must learn to sit on leads against dhal because trying to get in on dhal can easily cost you your lead ,theirs only so many times you can get through a top level dhal keep away game and if he gets away and you have a sizeable lead you need to play the patient game and let him come to you unless you see a risk free way of getting in.....
@41
yea, i think thats exactly what he should have done. Get the lead and turtle him back. That drives alot of sim players crazy but good, let them get a taste of the lameness.
@#48
Ryu Ultra 2 doesn't have the comboability of U1 but considering Dhalsim's keep-away game and constant retreat, the only time Ryu really gets a solid chance to land U1 is in the corner. So I figured; Ultra 2 is comboable in the corner anway.
Combos into Ultra 2:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xwzN5u...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kVOPB0...
This also works outside of the corner for a full animation if you're really close to your opponent after your fadc dash.
I would use it in this matchup specifically for the heightened damage vs. Dhalism's low life and to counter Dhalsim's ultra 1 mixups. I'm not sure but couldn't Ryu wakeup ultra right after Dhalsim's ultra flash and knock him out of Yoga Catastrophe. (Metsu shoryu has a really good startup range for a non projectile ultra.) Similar to this:
"daigo always had problems with dhalsim but daigo gave away a lot off those matches by being impatient when he had a sizeable lead. i would let dhalsim sit in the corner al he wanted when i'm the one with the big life lead."
You have to go in and KILL Dhalsim even when you have the lead because he can easily chip away your life until he has even a small lead and let the timer go down ftw.
I'm more impressed that Filipino Champ took out Ricky Ortiz's Rufus and Justin Wong's Cammy which are much harder match ups for Dhalsim than Daigo's Ryu.
even sako is free for flip champ...but sako didn't use cammy
@bananainsaneface
Yep, Ryu can't turtle against a good Dhalsim because as soon as he puts Ryu in the corner you're back to square one. Ryu either stays there and gets destroyed with limbs from 3/4 screen away or tries to work his way out, again, taking guesses and huge risks in the process (which defeats the whole point of turtling in the first place.) There's no way around it, Ryu has to get in to win the match.
@55:
sako BEAT filipino champ in the money match,go to that youtube page to watch the whole set.
filipino champ btw was to coward to go up against sako's cammy and agreed to mm only if sako did not choose to use cammy.In the end it was really funny to see champ getting blown up by sako's fei.
after beating champ,sako told him that he has only used fei 3 times before their set LMAO!
@ 58
"after beating champ,sako told him that he has only used fei 3 times before their set LMAO!"
Hahahaha that is gold
sf4 is the greatest game ever. hopefully we keep seeing mixed top 8 characters.
I like Capcom's plan on keeping fighters alive. Although I'd much rather see SF iterations that MvC or TxSF, hopefully those other games will get more players in the mix. They should also start making SF5, although I think SF4 will the epitome of the series forever.
Keep the ball rollin, like a sport - otherwise it'll turn into a "generation" only game.
@56
If ryu, or anyone else gets a lead on sim and they choose to lame him back and runaway and turtle sim doesnt have many options. Seriously just dont do anything, down back him, there aint no guard meter to worry about and as long as u block the yoga sniper(or counter hit it) there aint nothing he can really do. Just think about it, say ur up 25% bar on sim, just block and runaway, now he either comes in close to do something(exactly what u want) or u win on time. Its really lame but o well, thats the type of gameplay sim has anyway.
@60
ur kidding? he refused to fight cammy? wow, sako should have just ;aughed in his face and walked away
^Trust me that does not work against a GOOD Sim. I'm not talking about scrubby XBLA Sims.
@66
Cause if u have a lead and sit there, what exactly is he gonna do?
FC is obviously a very solid Sim, but that's it. Face it, he has nothing genius, his game is very basic and you never see any clear wins by him, every matches are either always close or clear victories by daigo. He would have been DESTROYED by Tokido's akuma in the finals.
@67 I'm sorry but you obviously have no idea why this is considered a bad matchup for ryu..
if u do that and just down back, thats exactly why this is a bad matchup and dhalsim wins it easy, cuz all dhalsim have to do is do a yoga fire and chip you to death, if you did a hadoken to counter the yoga fire he can get a free cr.hp, and all he have to do is walk after the yoga fire, if u jump it he can anti air u.. now you realise why this is a bad match not only for ryu but for all fireball characters in the game
Yeah I also felt that Tokido would have crushed FChamp in the grandfinals. When Daigo won I guessed already that he would lose against FChamp.
Sako vs Fchamp is fun though. Not very convincing play from Fchamp but it's always hard when you play somethign you arent expecting I guess?
Another great match between Filipino Champ and Daigo Umehara! Really a tough match up for Ryu, no doubt about it.
On another note. Why can't people learn to SHUT their BIG mouths up when two people are playing seriously! Just shut up when the match is going on because I can imagine it is so distracting for the players that are playing hearing all the gibberish going on in the background! Sheesh! Save the trash talking until AFTER every match. It's a good thing Daigo does not understand a lot of English, otherwise he'd be really distracted and pissed off with all the disrespectful SOB'S in the background!
*Ranting over!* peace!
edit
I meant yoga fire, wtf is yoga free lol. And u say about sim doin fire and walking forward, hes not guile, he doesnt recover that fast and he walks slow as hell(never mind his dash). And still, with a big lead sim isnt gonna come back on chip only so thats not as threating as u think.
@79
its kinda hard but u can counter hit it with maybe low fierce or low strong or stand jab(yoga sniper). and still, just block it, yoga sniper doesnt chip u and unless sim is on top of chiping with yoga flame chip isnt an issue. the only real mixup i seen is the flame teleport thing and daigo got caught by that alot, but there daigo should been more patient.
@80 Donchillo
That's what I thought as well, thanks. It's not like Art owns Daigo in their matchups.
As we know, Daigo is very good at adapting to people's games. I think he knows what to expect from Mochi and Art now, FChamp brought a few new wrinkles to the mix. He used Dhalsim's slide a ton to go under Ryu's fireballs instead of bloacking and used the Yoga Tower to great effectiveness. Daigo looked like he wasn't sure what to do, even up close, when FChamp pulled that out. Good job to him!
@82
yea he got alot of mileage out of the yoga tower and he even used the drills at times.
@81
Not saying its impossible but if you can react and block correctly to moves that come out in 1/6th of a second then go ahead and hold down back. But in the valle vs daigo match, daigo got tagged by a couple of ryu's overhead attacks which comes out slower so then sim's sniper or down strong. That tells me that daigo doesn't have the ability to react to sim's mixup. Sure he can try to counter poke but as the second set of the finals showed, where champ countered daigo's low forward counter poke, counter poking isn't free.
@84
I have no freakin clue LOL. Like as soon as u see it ur natural reaction is to throw/sweep but then u eat a throw. Thats something i have to check out myself. I think the top portion of him might be hitable(i think diago hits it on a jump in) but i would have to get into the danger room to check it out.
@85
THe overhead thing is true but consider this. In that situation how many options does valle have? He can walk up throw, he can tick throw with a low short, he can do the classic low forward fireball, he can do NOTHING, he can go for an other head, etc. ALot of times u land overheads its more of a surprise then anything, i guess daigo didnt think he would go for it.
But in sims situation with him across the screen how many options does he have? He has the sniper, random pokes, and yoga flame and also that yoga flame teleport mix up(which is the only real danger here). I have no doubt that if diago sat there and was more patient with the teleport mixups(he should have waited until he saw the flash on his side before reacting) he would have done alittle better(im not a daigo fan, i just dont like dhalsim).
And of course the counter hits arent free, but if u can counter hit with some consistance the dhalsim has to repesct ur space and watch how hes throwing his arms around giving u more room to advance.
Wow.
Seriously?
To all of the Negative Dhalsim comments: "Hey Rage Quitters and Lag Switchers!"...this is where you've run to?...
Entry level characters are fine. Dhalsim is not one of them.
Yoshinori Ono gave Famitsu this interview back in March of 2010 where he describes Juri (for an example) as being a good character for beginners:
http://www.andriasang.com/e/blog/2010...
Juri is flashy, has lots of offense, and easy to execute moves and strategies. Much of the same could be said of the Shoto cast. Neat. There is NOTHING wrong with that.
Many people who try Dhalsim become easily frustrated by his low damage output, and minimal health. He is not a Mash and Flash fighter.
The way that Filipino Champ, and YHC Mochi play Dhalsim is EXACTLY the way he was designed to be at his strongest.
Not all Street Fighter cast members are Combo heavy predators. Just win. Though I'm sure to shock some by saying this, "you DO NOT have to use combos or flashy play to Win." Seriously, I wonder sometimes if some of these posers/er "posters" actually play SSF4? A Win equals Win. Duh.
Based off some of the logic seen here anyone could pickup Dhalsim and crush any Shoto they should come across. Try it guys. Clearly Filipino Champ had some easy magical matchup advantage that allowed him to just make his way through all of the competition! Yeah. You should tap into this too.
To those who think Dhalsim is ready to be nerfed, or that he somehow is a cheap and easy to use, easy to win with character.... Practice your matchups. Seriously. There is no ALMIGHTY character. If someone, anyone, spams anything, with any character it's because YOU ARE ALLOWING THEM TO.
Reading this thread is ALOT like listening to people whine about Ground Fighting in Mixed Martial Arts. They complain because they have NO IDEA what is going on.
lol @ 24
havent you every heard the "n word" (i hate saying that) used outside of the sf community? hispanics say it, asians say it, white dudes say it. everybody says it
God that sim guy and his merry band of homos need to shut up. Every dog has his day you won the tournament and beat daigo at a money match, good for you. For god sakes you
wouldnt be so impressed with yourself if you didnt know daigo was as good as he is. You just made yourself look as stupid as that fat homo marn did when he spazzed out, got lucky and beat Daigo. Drop the America vs Japan crap all the stupid people are feeding you and play the god damn game. Jesus. You know this sim guy will never win as many tournaments as Daigo anyway. He's a one trick pony somebody will figure out his stupid strategy and he will choke. Watch the videos again he just lets up a lil and daigo crushes him. Everyones attitude is completely retarded, marn saying a bunch of dumb stuff then apologizing later, ha! trying to tell everyone he knew daigo was gonna do this and daigo was gonna do that, shut up! you didnt know anything, quit trying to hype yourself up, you already won. Just do the honorable thing and shut the hell up. Nobody believes you anyway. Listen i love the game and i give props to the people who know how to play but you gotta know how to lose and you gotta know how to win. Tell the team of gay cheerleaders to shut up and stop riding your coat tails after all youre the one winning and losing not them.
