So much for Japanese people being the most humble people in the world.
Tokido is embracing the American attitude. I guess he's learning from J Wong :)
@4
There's a major difference between what Tokido does and what Justin Wong and Marn do.
Tokido does it to entertain and be funny.
Justin Wong and Marn do it to make themselves feel better about themselves because they think they have something to prove.
Some people are jealous they are not Scott Popular and can't hang with Japanese boys.
Why must there always be a reason to hate? Kids these days...
Tokido gets up and walks off and.....speaking a little of english!
Tokido has won a few events at past evos, just hasn't came to evo since 2k7 i believe. He's always acted this way, but his incredible game play, and swagger entitles him to do whatever he wants.
@ SpaniardSRK
Past Evo results here: http://shoryuken.com/f8/evo-results-2...
Evo 2k9 seems to be one of the only Evos Tokido didn't go to.
@ yode
According to the description on youtube, the interview is from last year but they only just uploaded it now. So it's from before Super was released.
mago stopped using sagat way back. he mains fei now
Lol @jasonlee
I see what you did there. But remember it only works if you favor Japan. Hypocrisy is required.
When the guy has a nickname like "Dirty Tokido", "Iceman" and "Murderface", you don't exactly expect the most humble and kindest man in the world. Lol.
When the guy has a nickname like "Dirty Tokido", "Iceman" and "Murderface", you don't exactly expect the most humble and kindest man in the world. Lol.
Exactly! With all the political correctness BS these days it's hard for people to say stuff as it is! I would rather have Tokido openly admit he's good (because let's face it he is darn good) than that phony, fake, humble, condescending farcade that the likes of Mike Ross who is not quite in Tokido's league put on. Firstly, it's phony, secondly it's a sign of insecurity-a champion must exude confidence in and out of his arena and when you see the likes of Tokido and Daigo play, their games oozes with confidence and purpose more so than Ross!
In a nutsell if you're good at something and you're asked about it, there's nothing wrong in admitting it, it's only when maybe you start blowing your own trumpet and ridiculing others for not being qite as good as you then it become a different matter altogether!
Geez, dark lol. Tokido makes some jokes about being super good, but is obviously joking when he says so, even if we all know he IS actually a complete beast. If these other guys can't see that Tokido is joking then they must be looking for something.
I disagree about Mike Ross though. So he has a self-deprecating sense of humor? There is nothing wrong or fake about that to me. Maybe he's disgusted with egotistical people more than you are with humble ones. Personally, that's the kind of person I am (if I had to choose between the two). I mean you have to also imagine his position, people have started to think a lot more highly of him but he's not that much different than what everyone thought was just some random B/C-list player. So of course he's going to try to diffuse the praise, if he toots his own horn there's a good chance he'll look stupid. Because it's as you said, he's risen quite a bit but he isn't quite a champion, and he knows that too.
When you are one of the top players in the world, feel free to "exude" all you want Dark. Being a good sport, having fun and joking around is just fine with me. Having confidence is different from being a dick. You don't have to be a douche to be confident. He clearly is confident in the way that he plays and he's very lighthearted when he's not playing. Nothing wrong with that. Keep it classy.
"Wow you must be the first person to ever hate on mike ross LOL"
Slow down!!!!!! Mike Ross seems like a nice enough person. I just said I am not keen on that self-depreciating quality in a person, it comes across as insecurity, a trait I don't think highly of and a trait he exhibits, that's all, barring that he seems like an ok guy!
"When you are one of the top players in the world, feel free to "exude" all you want Dark."
Believe me, If I ever get there I will. Exuding confidence means oozing confidence and not blowing your trumpet by the way. And as stated I just believe in saying it as it is. Take for instance when there was this whole debacle about whether the x-box live account, Gameinn, was Daigo or his friend, Daigo confirmed he played on the account his response was along the lines of "If play against gameinn and you're having a tough time you'll know it's me because I'm pretty good" To me, that's not being arrogant, hell, with all he's achieved in SF if he hasn't earned the right to say he's good who has?
As long as you're not blowing your own trumpet to and ridiculing others not as gamely as yourself then it's all good for me. As you said, keep it classy!
It's amazing to me that Tokido and other Japanese folk can understand English when it's spoken by someone like Scott Popular who can barely speak it himself.
scott popular is so annoying, nobody knows you, he talks too much, acts like he knows a lot, but really he is stupid. i mean look at his hat and his atl braves jersey, u already know... omg man he shows no professionalism either, interrupting the flow of the interview with his own wack questions. man... thats what happens when you dont have a higher education.
f1ip is so annoying, nobody knows you, he hates too much, acts like he is god-like, but really he is a scrub. i mean look his words, you already know... omg etc etc
Ruffles
poongko is execution wise a god but maturity wise a child.
even in korea the most known players are laugh ;a daigo like player with very decent ryu and infiltration ,probably on the three best gouki in the worlg along with tokido and momochi.
That interview was very disorganized imo. Is that how Kenzo usually do his interviews? no rhythm and flow whatsoever. And why include two no-name players in the interview? If you're going to do an interview with Tokido, then for heaven's sake please just do it with him alone and not with annoying no-name players who think they know what they're talking about just to look smart in front of the camera; but in reality is a scrub. I'm talking about you Scott popular.
@ 41 Jinzo.
This interview did NOT come out before Supe SFIV was made. They clearly mentioned YUN and YANG in the interview! And who the F*** is Scott Popular anyways? We don't care about him. Reason we watched the video is because of Tokido. Scott Popular is just a scrub who wants to be popular by hanging out with the big boys.
Murderface has charisma! He has a deeper voice then I thought, makes him sound like an evil mastermind.
