IF diago does not place high in this tournament i believe he will no longer be the "best" in japan. he is very skilled and will be knows as a great, but he better step aside there are other great players in japan

Tekken Ball? I'm not mad, its actually a cool inclusion. I want to hear more about how this got in, whose playing, is there a "scene" for Tekken Ball. Tell me!

Tekken 3 was the pinnacle of Tekken lore.

I love watching Mike Ross play, but dear god does he have the best luck I've ever seen. Seems like Gamerbee doesn't want to pick Adon against Honda anymore lol, his Akuma seems solid but not on the level of his main.

Ultra David is a very objective commentator, usually focusing on the mistakes in a match. He's a goldmine of info too.

It boggles my mind anyone would hate on him.

I ike Skisonic's energetic commentary. He loves the game so much and doesn't try to be hipster-cool about it. He just lets it out. Also, I have respect for the speed with which he makes accurate comments.

PzychoNimz: "Gah. Zangief is so retarded."

Weeaboo alert.

As I have predicted many, many times: It doesn't matter who wins with what character--so long as they're American and beat one of the overseas favorites, the character's suddenly the devil. It's happened every single time now and it's going to happen again.

#62

@VegaBisonAbel: Try closing out some programs on your comp. The stream has run very smooth practically the entire day. You may also want to try popping out the window.

#66
PzychoNimz said on November 6, 2010 at 5:34 p.m.

@ Mourne

Not at all. I only care for great games. Heck, I'm not American nor Asian, so the whole American/Asian "war" is outside my thing. :P

I just personally feel Zangief is a retarded character, and I definitely feel this match showed it at great effect. I've felt like this about Zangief and Blanka since vanilla. xD

#67
Beehol said on November 6, 2010 at 5:42 p.m.

#68

@67: Zangief is a retarded character? really? let me guess.. you started fighting games with SF4?

#73
Mourne said on November 6, 2010 at 6:08 p.m.

@SAMURAI: "I don't like Zangief as a character, but I'm glad that he eliminated that counterpicking Marn."

What about counterpicking Tokido and counterpicking GamerBee?

#74
Beehol said on November 6, 2010 at 6:14 p.m.

Nevermind... but he definitely made top 21.

#75
PzychoNimz said on November 6, 2010 at 6:15 p.m.

@ 73

Not at all. But Zangief is retarded for several reasons:

His command graps have way too much range.

Lariat totally negates crossups/okizeme, removing a big factor of a game like SF.

His okizeme game, on the other hand, is way too good - which is silly considering you can't really okizeme him.

Whether or not you agree is your choice.

#76
Mourne said on November 6, 2010 at 6:16 p.m.

@SAMURAI: And now it's counterpicking Sako.

#77
SAMURAI said on November 6, 2010 at 6:17 p.m.

@ Mourne

I don't care about them. And I really don't understand why they make such stupid decisions. I like GamerBee's Adon, nothing more. Tokido? Good player, but I don't consider him one of Japan's top 10 players. I always liked Momochi's Akuma better.

And now Sako going with Rose. Don't like that either.

@SAMURAI: I know you don't now, given that I've put you in a position where you would be forced to admit your general bias as hypocrisy. I mean no offense, just pointing it out.

Kaizy said on November 6, 2010 at 6:27 p.m.

@jok3rfrmbk
AMEN.
I'm sick of the excuses. Tokido, GamerBee, and Sako all counterpicked.

sakagaminl said on November 6, 2010 at 6:28 p.m.

@80 any moron knows Rufus is too good and cheap as hell

Kaizy said on November 6, 2010 at 6:28 p.m.

@sakagamini
How?

#85
Mourne said on November 6, 2010 at 6:29 p.m.

@Kaizy: Remember all the weeaboos saying that counterpicking was terrible and how it was something only the scrubby Americans did?

In this one tournament, we've had GamerBee, Tokido, and Sako do exactly the same thing and now all of a sudden it's OK. I mean, I wonder if like... they're biased or something...

Hmmm...

Wow, looked like Sako didn't cope with the dive kick pressure too good.

Ah well, most matches were good, looking forwards to the stream tomorrow. ^^

Fishsauce said on November 6, 2010 at 6:32 p.m.

lol Mourne let it go man, the weeaboo in them is too strong. Congrats to the top 8...this tourney is sick.

SAMURAI said on November 6, 2010 at 6:32 p.m.

@ Mourne

WTF are you talking about this time? It has nothing to do with hypocrisie. I've said that I honestly don't care about them, I like GamerBee's Adon, nothing more.
It's a shame that Sako is eliminated, but if he wants to counterpick, f**k him.

@87 People will be how people will be. Not like anyone can do anything about it.

sakagaminl said on November 6, 2010 at 6:34 p.m.

@86 too safe, easy ultra setups, above average health

nerf that sh*t, as well as bison and Honda.

@85 Sako is still the best of this competition, thats a fact. everybody loses sometimees. if he didnt fight justin he would win this.

now probably daigo wins or whoever. someone that Sako would beat. thats just truth

Wait, is Mike Ross eliminated?

#92
SAMURAI said on November 6, 2010 at 6:35 p.m.

@ Mourne

Why are you lying man? No one said that counterpicking is ok.

#93
jok3rfrmbk said on November 6, 2010 at 6:36 p.m.

@sakagaminl

And what makes rufus so cheap?

#94
CageBreaker said on November 6, 2010 at 6:37 p.m.

LMAO at all these scrubby counter-picking Japanese players.

Hmmm sound familiar?

#95
chickenwings said on November 6, 2010 at 6:37 p.m.

@89

How can u argue there op? out of all the characters u listed the only one that doesnt have terrible matchs is maybe chun, everyone else has bad matchs(bison and honda have alot of them for so called "top tier").

#96
Mourne said on November 6, 2010 at 6:37 p.m.

@Fishsauce: It is strong in them indeed.

@SAMURAI: They betrayed you. Your own flesh and blood betrayed you! To aarrmmmsss! Are you disappointed that they suddenly counterpicked after you claimed that only American players counterpicked due to a lack of skill?

@Dumpling: I only try to turn around at least one reasonable person that's caught up in the weeaboo web. There must be at least one of them capable of realizing how irrational their behavior is, and if that person turns around, it's mission accomplished. Unlikely, but one can dream.

Think we'll see Sako at another US tourney again? EVO 2011?

#98
PzychoNimz said on November 6, 2010 at 6:38 p.m.

@ mark_morrison

Imo, it's more about being defensive atm pays out, while playing aggresively doesn't. Charge characters are more inclined to play defensively, since the charge motions are 'easier' that way.

Hopefully, SSF4 AE will have a better balance between defense and offense, since they should both be aspects of the game and should be rewarded when timed well.

@ Counter-picking.

Again, guess it's all about personal preference. Imo, if someone is good with more than 1 character, good for him. If he chooses to play with more than 1 character in a tournament, why not? Like saying that a football team should only play with the same line-up in every game regardless of what happens.

yes4me said on November 6, 2010 at 6:40 p.m.

imo, the difference between top japanese and american was never really that far off anyhow. It is just that in Japan, you have more japanese participants, and therefore more chance for a japanese player to win. Same here. More US players, more chance a US player may win.
