Its clearly Alex and not charlie. the buring figure looks like he has a bare chest and you can see what looks like folded over dungaries.
Pretty sure all the Charlie hate is because it'd be pretty disappointing to bring a new character that has a fighting style similar to what's already in the game when there are so many other characters with unique fighting styles that people would like to see make a comeback.
This may very well be the last chance for new characters in the SSFIV series. Therefore, people don't want a returning character that has a style already in the game, they want a new character that has a style not yet in the game.
I'm sure people wouldn't care as much if he was originally in the game, like Dan, Ken, Sakura, Akuma, etc.
But he wasn't in the game from the start. If Akuma wasn't in the game and had a chance of being in as a new character, then I'm sure there'd be just as much hate for him.
It's not because he's a clone, it's because a new character slot would be wasted on a clone, rather than bringing something fresh to the game. I'm sure he will play differently than Guile, just like how Ken and Ryu play differently, but that's not the point. The point is that we have someone that fights like him in the game already.

Even though Alex was my favourite character in 3rd Strike I rather not see him or Charlie make the cut. They are too similar to Abel and Guile. I rather see some characters with different dynamics to the gameplay like Poison, Rolento, Elena, Urien or even Q.

you might have a point if dan and sakura were originally in SF4 but they werent. the game started with ryu, ken and akuma in the arcade. the home version had dan, sakura, and gouken.
so you're wrong. they added "clones" to home SF4 and they'll add charlie to SSF4AE.
Add elena. She is the only one with a really different fighting style. I would add Urien but I doubt Capcom would let him keep his unblockable setups, ect, so it would be a totally new character that we know nothing about(like new makoto). Add elena and make her good, lol!
Well whomever this mystery character is whether it is one or not, It is good that the AE will come to arcades soon. Now that my Playstaion has been repaired, I have a lot of catching up to do in terms of improving in SSFIV. Well thanks to that wonderful video posted earlier about being able to mod a fight stick to play on any of the consoles, I am more than likely going to buy the game for 360 as well. I will have two that works on ps3 for when guest comes over and now I will have one for the 360 so that I may learn more on the game with more players and hopefully you guys on Eventhubs. I understand I will lose a lot but I hope to learn a lot and hopefully be a pro player. Anyone interested on adding me on 360 my gamertag is Reimon Durbow.

Okay, Dan is not Ryu-like, Ryu is Dan-like. And from what I see, we need Charlie to get his ass back in here. Charlie is not like Guile, Guile is like Charlie, hell, Charlie only needs one hand to do his fireball (like a certain master of Ryu's, yes, Dan). So take that. Besides, Charlie does his soumersault backwards (that might be fixed due to the physics of someone actually being able to first turn around and then backflip kick you to hell, it just doesn't seem like there would be enoung time to to do it).
@54 I thought the term shoto originated from the fact that its the abbreviated term for the style that Ryu, Ken & Akuma used. But Gouken tought it to Ryu and Ken and trained in it with Akuma under their master. So technically, isn't Gouken a shoto?

Everyone knows that Ryu and Ken are stables of the SF series, so it's a lost cause to complain about them. Does that translate to people being okay with them being essentially clones? Ofcourse not, so it isn't a foreign concept to believe that some folks just don't want to see any MORE clones then what exist now and I'm in agreement with that.
I mean I would personally like to see Charlie's character model in SSF4 but I think his movesets need to be revamped so that he's different from Guile. Anyway, from a story prospective, I think now would be appropriate to reintroduce Charlie in a new light.
You guys must have learning deficiencies. Everything you want for Charlie, guile can do. The only difference is the look and damage apparently. I don't play shoto characters, but you must seriously be stupid if you think Gouken and Ryu play the same. Just because they play similar styles doesn't mean anything. The characters that play the most similar imo are Ken and Ryu, but their styles are absolutely different. What would Charlie have that would make him different from Guile? Nothing.

Gouken can be classified as a shoto (if you use the "Sagat is almost like a shoto" argument). Though imo he isn't really a "true shoto". Ryu, Ken, Akuma, Dan & Sakura are the shotos. He plays much too diffrently than say his younger brother (he's basically a defensive Akuma minus his power & dp). So imo, Gouken is not a true shoto.
Wouldn't mind seeing Charlie makin a comeback. I use Guile so it'll be interesting to see how they would tweak Charlie. Though imo he would be, at heart, defensive (maybe with a couple more offensive options than Guile). Would love to see Alex. Cool grapple type imo. We'll just wait for the time being. Let'em surprise us :)

I'm no hater but let's just hope that's someone new (Btw I recently picked up Akuma, and after studying Tokido, I learned that clones aren't as clone-like as I thought. The only time there were clone characters in SF was back in SF2. Even then Ken was changed pretty quickly. To say any character in SSF4 is a clone is a sign you have no idea what you're talking about.

I still believe it's Urien. He's got the Urien underwear. As far as it looks.. 'He' also crouches with his back straight, like Urien, and not like Alex or Charlie. And the the "curl of hair" is probably Urien's hand, simple as that. The blonde hair looks like it's because it's Urien's alternate color. Which makes sense, he has blonde hair, and red skin in one of his alternate colors. The red skin to better camo with Dhalsim's super, maybe? I'm just guessing.

I use to be a guile player in then charlie came on the scene in alpha in tho they were simular charlie felt different. I can wait for another game for charlie. But I've played with all the shotos in I can say one thing they are all different ken in sakura to me are combo mixup beasts ryu is combo king... But charlie would probably have some nice ex moves I'm guess in wouldn't have any difficult links guiles a thinking mans character in in charlie would be more offensive my guess have to wait in see.

no way is that charlie. The muscles on the legs are way too big to be him. Charlie also died so I am pretty sure capcom isn't going to screw up the story. The only moves I can see different from him and guile is the sonic boom and his ultra sonic boom.

Ryu has hardcore combos? Seriously now, he has the easiest stuff in the game.
129 ryu does have some hard hitting combos.... Who else on the game can link almost every normal he has together into his even stronger specail moves and fadc combos. Example jumpinn fierce punch crounching medium punch crouching fierce punch hadouken fadc crounhing medium punch again.. You can sweep after that to create a untechable knockdown in make a crossup situation for a combo or blockstring into a grab... Or from the crounching medium punch go to another crounching fierce to to fierce shoruken fadc ultra.

I'm sorry for being a grammar hoar, and I had to point this out, but @rell1989, the word you're looking for is "and" not "in." It became frustrating to read most of your posts.
And just my two cents: NO ONE will ever be truely happy with a fighting game. You might say you're content with everything in the current roster, but you'll still wish there was a character like this, or like that. Then when a game with a deep history like Street Fighter does, you start bashing the company because they don't listen to your idea, like yours is the only opinion that mattered, and no one elses.
"Don't add Charlie, he's a Guile clone!" vs "Put Charlie in, at least change one or two things about him to make him different from Guile!"
You see where I'm going with this? Same goes with the costume packs. I read during the early releases of costume packs of Ken's big reveal. "Yay Alpha hair! Boo the outfit! They should've given Ken his signature red Gi with the long hair!" Think of how many ways that can go wrong. While one party would want his red gi, others would bash Capcom for being lazy with Ken by only changing his hair.
And don't even get me started on the rage quitters who are going to throw this game away if their character won't be announced or this character will be in while the one they wanted didn't make the cut, then bashing the hell out of Capcom and how much they suck, then say "MvC3 is just around the corner, and soon SF3:3S! :D"
But on topic: why hasn't anyone mentioned Charlie's Crossfire Blitz as a potential ultra? If he gets a Double Flash Kick super, a beefed up Flash Kick ultra and Sonic Break, then he'll truely be too similar to Guile. I wanna Charlie rush forward and beat the shxt out of his opponent instead of the old triple Flash Kick gig.

1. The dangling thing is not hair, it's the cloth that dangles behind his hair. He was hit so he's looking away from Dhalsim which points the cloth in front.
2. Those are shorts, Adon's shorts because they're cut above the knee and the calves aren't covered with pants because of the curvature which resembles the human calf muscles.
Somebody should take a snapshot of a yoga flame on a crouching Adon to confirm this.

I would REALLY like Charlie in the game, he's my absolute favourite of all time... Sure, Guile is similar and also fun to play, but he's too... Edgy? Like someone else said, if Charlie's included in the game then he wouldn't be exactly like he was i Alpha, he would be somewhat changed to make him a more individual character (hopefully)... And, if he would get to be just like in Alpha, think about his Ultra's and Supers; one of his ultras could be his rushdown super from alpha(don't know the name of it), which feels to me quite individual... then his arcs of his somersaults would be unsimilar to Guile's, strengthening the individuality even more... + lots of other stuff that could make him really interesting, like his normals and stuff. Also, I like Charlie better than Guile since Guile always has to be so manly and dramatic, totally uninteresting that is... I'm not 100 % sure of what Charlie's personality is like but what I've seen so far he's much cooler.
And, like someone else said, why's the game allowed to have tons of shotos but only one of the other types? Their excuses is "because they are still SOMEWHAT different from each other!"... well, that goes for any fighting style. Because of that I think the idea of including Charlie, and also R. Mika who's my second favourite of all time (if not Dan =]), is not actually such a bad idea. I would really like a more agile Zangief with a rump attack instead of fockin' Lariat! And the ultras and supers of her, rawr... =] Pure awesomeness.
Personally i would be happy with just about any new character included in SSF IV.

We mighr have maybe 4 more (excluding Yun and Yang) characters inlcuded in SSF IV A.E.
Then there is Street Fighter X Tekken which will be using the same engine and many similar gameplay mechanics to IV and, apart from the usual mains, it will most probably include a couple of characters which did not make the cut in SSF IV A.E.
After that we have Street Fighter V to look forward to and for sure Capcom will follow up on more character requests.
In the meantime lets not forget MVC 3 and Tekken X Street Fighter.
So i ask: why the heck do people complain? If some characters don't make it into SSF IV A.E. they might be used in one of the other games. No loss whatsoever and if anything it seems Capcom is very keen on using all of their back catalogue of fighters spread out in the aforementioned 3 games which use pure SF mechanics.

Yeah people are so bias towards their own opinions. IF it's charlie then koo... Like Gouken differs to his STUDENTS, Ken n Ryu. Charlie (the man who TAUGHT guile) will definitely differ from Guile. Especially with his connection to Abel. Possibly even taught Adel (a grappler) a thing or 2. And that's a BIG hint with Abel that Charlie WILL be coming into SF again. And Charlie won't be the same man we all knew, trust me.
Alex would be good 2, he was crucial to the story at one point. He'll also be like a different version of Abel. Just like the shoto's differ from one another, or Hakan/Gief. People got excited with Yun+Yang but disappointed in Charlie cuz guile's in the game? Weird.. lol

Scrubs who turtle can turtle with any1 in the game dogg. It's the experts or opponent to overcome that. I've seen many turtling shoto's, guiles, vegas, blankas, bisons, balrogs, vipers, seths, etc... A scrub is a scrub, doesnt matter on the character.
I'm telling ya'll #1 Charlie WILL be coming at some point. Knew that from SF4. #2 He'll be way different since he faked his death, traveled the world learning new stuff, and obviously fought/trained or trained WITH Abel.

I've watched a lot of III strike videos, Alex doesn't play anything like Abel. rflmao
Also, I've watched some Charlie gameplay. He seems to be more rush down....I'm sure he would be a welcomed addition once they got over themselves. If Capcom is dealing with timing/budget restrictions, then there is a high chance of that being Charlie (since he would be easy to make).
I love all the people in here who have obviously have never played SF3 trying to say that Alex is an Abel clone. Why? Because they both have blond hair and throw people? LOL
Alex and Abel are pretty different from one another, certainly a lot more different than Ryu/Ken/Akuma and Guile/Charlie. All you're doing by saying "HURR DURR ALEX IS JUST AN ABEL CLONE" is revealing that you've never played Street Fighter 3.
If the Shotos can have five reps at a time the Sonic boom crew should return ( Nash, Guile, and Remy).
Alex should have been there from SSF4. it'll set him up for his limelight in SF3

Hi guys! That pic looks like Charlie, but unless his moves have been changed then we don't actually need him. He really doesn't play that differently from Guile...then again Ken, Ryu, and Akuma have similarities so it wouldn't be that much of a wasted spot. I need to go play SFA3 and see how Charlie plays again.
OH, almost forgot, if anyone on here has a Capcom-unity account, could you ask the mods in the MvC3 forum why "Torrie (Megaman baby)" can't log into her account? My account is still active, but I can't get thru. I left after some stalker guy named Marvin started harassing me and now I see that he's been banned and for some reason I can't get into my account either. Which leads me to believe that Marvin may actually be under the same roof as me (but I haven't asked or mentioned it yet). Yeah no, Alex is definitely not an Abel clone. They're just 2 grapplers. They differ like Zangief n Hakan differs in wrestling. Same TYPE of moves but also totally different moves n strategies. I think BOTH charlie n alex would be great additions to ssf4. Like them or not..
Alex can't possibly be an Abel clone because Abel was created after Alex, Alex has about a decade over Abel. Even Abel's guide on this site says he has a little bit a Alex in him. How can people be wrong about them being overly similar and the number 3 coming before 4.
WHY DO PPL hate on charlie hes she one who trained guile he save him from being kil lots of times. gameplay terms the pay similar in the flash kicks and sonic booms but they do them totally different like ken and ryu do theres different. but in terms of fighting like low med high punches and kicks they fight different like ken and ryu. charlie fights much better than guile in my opinion , he has a medium poke kick like ken plus he a much faster fighter like ken, give him like a air flash kick like off marvel vs capcom 2, and a ex sonic boom he does like how dj does his with his left and his right hand and hed bee way better than guile i like charlie way better. ppl want certain characters lik ELENA AND HUGO AND URINE BUT CAPCOM KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING, ask yourself this was any of those three tournament quality characters not really thats why they added yun and yang because they were used in tournaments ppl ASKED FOR THE 3RD STRIKE CHARACTERS and they cant even be used in tournmanents except dudly well they took so much stuff away from mokoto it doesent make since just add her stuff som3rd strike then she wil be great

Those ppl saying Abel clone are prolly just saying that becuz he's alrdy in ssf4 and they think by adding Alex, it'll be a waste. In actuality, it'll be much different. And they would know that if they played 3rd strike.

Redstormer has a point. Unless they make it so Alex is done wit gill n urien. They can make him fit in ssf4 that way. But it is already implied that Abel has seen the sonic boom already b4. Implying Charlie is still alive. So their (capcom) are already planning on bringing Charlie back. So it's only right to bring him back now. Or in TekkenXstreetfighter. Either way, Charlie is guaranteed to come back whether you like it or not. Common sense..

who really care about the story gouken died when ryu was like 6 years old but he here in the timeline i dont think it matters the game story like is not the same as the actuay story line. from what i heard alpha was supposed to be before sf2
Very true Supermaster. In no way shape or form did they give ANY clue that Gouken was a live. Actually... who says Goutetsu (Akuma+Gouken's Master) is dead? They SAY Akuma killed him, but he might have survived SOMEhow. Anyway, with all this being said... CHARLIE's body was never found. Abel saw the sonic boom somewhere else when seeing it from Guile. Abel's adopted father was ex-military. Hmmm.... It cant be Remy. Only ONE other person... Unless they bring a new character. The man who taught Charlie (unknown). But that'll be too much lol. So it HAS to be Charlie... if not in that imagine, he's definitely returning 100% in the next game. Period.

Charlie will make some appearance soon. If it's not AESSFIV, then he might appear as Shadow in MvC3, or SFxT. He's been in as much or more in-game appearance's then Guile. You just know the development team at Capcom has some type of admiration for Charlie. And since AE has time restraints, it's always seemed pausable to include him, based off of his design.
I mean, I love the character, but if he's not in, then no big deal. We already got 35(or 37 now)characters to choose and love. But whoever "that" character being burned is, we'll find out soon.

At jakulagi, not disagreeing with u. I alrdy stated charlie taught guile. And u just informed me that charlie is the researching type. Most likely taught abel. Which will make me assume he's been developing much more since his time away. Grappling moves, sonic booms, flash kicks, and we'll find out what else he brings to the table soon. Can't wait..
I have a theory that capcom will try to make most if not all ssf4 fans (hardcore) pay a certain reasonable price for a XBL or PSN DLC update by adding characters that seconds everyones mains by being similar in a way to everybody's main for example:
yun and yang can be seconds to those who main for example rufus (dive kick similarity rush style) or feis or gens (kunfu feel) or maybe juris (speed and combo ultra).... charlie can be guile players secondary, alex for grabler players like abels hakans and giefs.
so my guess is that capcom will add quite a few new charechters to spice things up.

Sounds like a good theory. Personally I'm not a guile player. Never touched abel at all. I play with gen but don't wanna touch yun yang. But I do play charlie and alex. Always was a ken/cody player. Never touched ryu like that. But it makes sense. I can see epic battles between guile vs charlies. Alex vs the abels. I like that kiler.
both alex and charlie would be great additions to the cast of ssf4...

Guile is a Charlie Clone.
Charlie came BEFORE Guile, so THEREFORE!... Charlie is the Main "Sonic Boom" Character. Lets not forget that Charlie taught Guile, and Guile can only do his SB with two hands. Charlie is so Badass, he does it with one.
Only Chuck Norris (Or Dan) could be Charlie. Guile is just a turtle.
