You can see a bit more of Sako in action by checking out archived footage from Wednesday Night Fights on Justin.tv.
Not sure what factors you have to consider but overall I'd say people have a pretty good idea of where Sako stands now having fought people like Wong and Marn.
Kind of dissapointed he didn't do better to be honest, especially given the hype surrounding him. Now it's all about how Mago does in the Canadian Cup.
@#1
Wow, some serious hatered going down haha
Yes, he is garbage after a couple of casual fun matches. Are you guys insane? X) Just wait for the real thing man... stop trollin' so hard.
Lol 3 perfects in Wong's match. Amazing.
Can't wait to see SoCal Regionals!
Ya so garbage! 15 hour flight or whatever and casuals before a major event, what a loser not trying his best under his best conditions!
Get a clue. Biggest pet peeve is people being judgmental after 1 event or fight, it doesn't mean S***. Daigo went 10-1 or whatever in the godsgarden qualifier, and didnt even make the money in the ft10 matches. Does that make him godlike for finishing first in the qualifiers? Or garbage cuz he went 2-3 in the tournament?
Kindebu (debu means fat) plays Cammy in Super. Heck, he was even in GG2.
As far as nerfing Rufus goes... no... just no! They shouldn't nerf him. Why? Rufus is awesome against the majority of the cast, arguably OP. BUT he is at a noticeable disadvantage against shoto characters. He struggles against characters like Ryu (oh yeah Zangief despite obviously being not a shoto). What really matters is the fact the characters he struggles against are hands down the most popular.
I think the best course of action would be to give rufus something to help him against shoto characters, BUT nerf what makes him so damn good agianst the majority of the cast, namely Ex-Messiah + EX-Snake Strikes.
Man, all three of them were doing such awesome stuff. Wish I could pull off things like that.
And what's with all the nerds in these comments? If you guys are pros, go build your reputation.
NO is going to play their best in a casual when there's a tournament round the corner. They must be sandbagging.
f*cking cheapass rufus, stop whining that cammy's tk's should be removed/
just look at this, easy cheapass damage that rufus can deal without requiring skill.
just cheapass seriously, at least cammy has to work for it.
string from 1:42 sako vs marn, holy sh*t. his execution is so godlike
Sako looks maxican. He looks like a couple of my friends. Good freaking(hubs doesnt allow the f word) games btw.
Sako is trolling these guys I hate these exhibition matches esp. b4 a tournament. there is no way sako is going to let them sand bag him that is all this game was for Jwong & Marn
I DO not take these games seriously intill the real deal. Stupid Americans hating on Sako for two casual matches saying he is overrated & garbage is really ignorant
people saying sako's overrated are scrubs
they just look at his match against wong, check the whole stream
he first wins like 10-0, they just put 1 of his loses on eventhubs. but he won almost everything
I -love- the "haters gonna hate" messages from people like SAMURAI and WinstonChurchill. You guys would know a lot about hating--specifically when it involves anyone that isn't Japanese or is a threat to them. It's never just "great match!" with you two. It's always excuses after excuses and hate after hate.
@SAMURAI specifically: I'll translate your posts from Weeaboo. Basically, they amount to, "Waaaaaaaahhhhh". Seriously, you just can't take it that American players are competing against your prized Japanese. I take great delight in seeing the misery here--you try to pretend to be objective but when you are surprised at the outcomes, you lose it. For those of us that -just don't care- what their nationality is, we don't have these little fits that you do. In essence: Grow up & get outside more.
You are also just dead wrong much of the time. You think Rufus has an advantage against shoto characters? I always knew you were an armchair critic at the game--I just never knew you hadn't played it. Rufus does terrible against shoto characters because, when they play to their strengths, they can shut him down completely. His Ultra 2 is not easy to hit whatsoever; on account of him having his Ultra 2, he has only one actual means of actually comboing into his ultra (stR launcher). It is not nearly as effective at reversing fireballs as you like to think it is. Your timing has to be absolutely precise, especially against a character like Ryu.
Shoto characters against Rufus can punish messiah kicks that don't connect with uppercuts and can stop divekicks with uppercuts/trade with them. His galactic tornado is useless without his BnB, so if they don't allow him to dive kick (and if they're smart, they won't), he's practically lost the non-EX version of the move. The snake strike is still effective, but the thing is: Shoto characters never have to leave the ground against Rufus. Ryu, namely, given that he can trade with any dive kick or jump-in and then throw his Ultra 1 99% of the time.
If Rufus's Ultra 2 is really that good, the matchup would be more in his favor, but it isn't. If the range on it were to be completely full screen, it would be a different story. Alas, it is not. To hit Ultra 2, your opponent has to literally make the mistake of not just throwing a fireball, but throwing a fireball in range. If both characters are at the full length of the screen (as is natural in this match when the shoto distances themselves), it's perfectly fine to throw fireballs.
I don't imagine you know any of this, but feel free to hit up training mode, champ.
Beyond that, very nice play by Sako. As a fellow Cammy player, it's nice to see her executed so well. What's most impressive is that he seems to be able to work the length of the screen very well and get in whenever he needs to. Looking forward to seeing him play the usuals at SCR.
To the dense people thinking they're actually holding anything back for the tournament: You have lost your minds to your weeaboo fantasies. There's no such thing for these guys anymore. The only thing they can do is have secret characters--when it comes to Justin with Rufus, Sako with Cammy, and Daigo with Ryu, there are videos of them using these characters to their limits that amount to the hundreds.
The bottom line: Stop making excuses. It only degrades the players, the matches, and the community in the end.
@39
I was not on the stream all night but form what I know only Wong and Tatsu beat him, the haters are funny they talk so much s*** but the would get r**** by Sako and Daigo.
Unless you can beat them yourself, no one has the right to say a certain individual is overrated. Yea I'm directing this comment to you #1.
@SAMURAI: My reason for posting is just to demonstrate that, as a community, we don't have to senselessly hate on everyone that isn't Japanese or GamerBee. You seem like an all right guy, but you have to admit you do kind of give them a bit of unnecessary hell for no real reason at all. Just relax some; these guys didn't burn down your family home or murder your wife and children and cause you to go underground and give yourself the moniker "The Punisher". (Even the Punisher isn't trying to exact this much vengeance on people, in all fairness)
The Japanese players, the American players, and the European players are all just playing Street Fighter. We don't have to always keep things so negative. These guys give us a lot of really great matches every week and show us the full extent of these characters. Appreciate them as Street Fighter players, not because of where they were born.
Yes, people often say it's a lost cause to battle with people here, but I don't think so. If it can even make one person reconsider, then it was time well spent. Fighting game popularity is through the roof right now--we shouldn't let this constant, senseless negativity be what drives it back to the ground. Remember the days when there were only VHS tapes and handheld camera footage of the top players playing? We should feel pretty fortunate that this calibur of matches is at our disposal so readily, for everyone to view and learn from.
To quote redmask a post or two up: "Good players are good. Hope they have a good tournament." This should be the motto for every one of these matches. Wish everyone the best, root for whoever you want to root for, but don't root -against- certain players or wish for them to fail--especially because of their nationality. That's just no way to go about things. Hating on them for beating your favorites or hating on them for using certain characters is just such a depressing way to press on, and I really wish we would see less of it and more actual, genuine commentary on the game itself.
@baller600: Everyone knows that Sako is a great player. They only linked to him playing Justin & Marn because, well, they're top players and those are the ones people want to see play him. Don't read into it so much--Catalyst is pretty straight down the line. Also: He uh... won the second match presented here. Did you watch the video?
@ Kaizy
I didn't insult anyone.
@ Mourne
Yes, I like like Japanese players like Daigo, Sako, Mago and a few others. But that doesn't mean that I hate on all American players. Like I've said before, I like almost every USA player. The only players I don't really like are Marn & Arturo. The rest is ok. If someone like Mike Ross, Alex Valle,.... wins the tournament, it's okay with me. But yes, I would prefer one of my favorite players to win this.
Even Justin Wong may win it, I ain't hating on him or anything. I just don't like his character (Rufus). But understand this, if Japanese player Kindevu was here and he used Rufus, my critic would still be the same. I don't like the character and in my opinion he is overpowered.
And I don't have a problem with you either. But it's not necessary to act so patronizing like you did in some of your previous posts.
Let us just enjoy the tournament and let the best man win. And lastbut not least, let everyone here express his opinion.
The reason why Marn showed off that Focus attack cross up reset is because next time he does it on Sako its going to be a fake cross up. Marn thinkin ahead.
That's a beastly Cammy, tkcs will be missed. Justin adapted pretty well and he punished Sako for playing too risky.
@oohlookamonster Yeah Americans are weak into counter picking in tourney i think that is really good indication of the lack of trust and skill in there own abilities as a player esp. there for there understanding of there main imo this counter picking business i never was a fan of that ...
I never thought I'd see a match where the OTHER person had the nickname 'Daigo killer' instead of him. :D Good matches though, if this is any indication, the tournament's going to be a close one. :)
@oohlookamonster
Didn't Daigo try to counterpick Ryan Hart and get his ass kicked for it?
It's not just Americans.
Did we show all our cards before SCR? SAVE IT for the tourney!
@OptimusPrimeBot he did already do the fake crossup in those matches.
anyway, looking forward to seing Sako vs. GamerBee if they play either in the tourney or casuals. Sako destroyed that Adon on the stream, reacted to all his jaguar kicks with uppercut
marn tries to hard to mess with people.. well maybe not too hard.. but he's definitely tries to get in peoples head..
you can love him or hate him for that.. i know if he did that **** to me i'd probably lose my cool.. playing into his hands.. course he'd probably would have wooped my ass convincingly already so i don't really need my cool..
Sako is pretty good. But the people he was playing against either didn't know what they were doing or just didn't stick with it long enough.. If you gotta lame it out to win then by all means, lame it out
Mad Marn respect. That was some dope dudley. BTW you know he plays these matches not to win but to see what people will do in situations right? He even explained that was why he was able to beat daigo. lol @ people happy to see marn "lose".
One day it's Gamerbee, the next day it's Sako and after that Mago.
Man, the US really needs to start propping up their own players if they ever want to compete on the world stage. Justin can't do it all on his lonesome self.
@ 76
Most of the Respected player in US cant make it out to the professional scene. I love to see Lizardheart or Yanucerda out there, they'd probably tear it up.
Other than tat, you people NEED to quit cockmunching. He's a good player, respect it, leave it at that. Besides, Crispy Links everywhere. 8)
haters will always hate. haters think whenever someone lost 1 round or couple games. they suck and they shouldn't play the game anymore.
Catalyst can you please ban oohlookamonster from EventHubs. seriously his trolling is really getting on my nerves.
@52
very funny how he criticizes EventHubs, when he actually has an account here lol.
@90
actually i gave up Bison due to the fact that hes "top-teir" but i dont go around crying how i get my *** whooped by him everyday online. either learn the match-up or shut up. we get you suck at the game, we heard you the first time, everybody here wants you to just shut up about it. and he sais im crying lol. people who complain about how "cheap" a character is, are scrubs. theres no such thing as cheap. you play to win, and you do whatever it takes to win.
@92
Lol at your name and reason for giving up bison.
You shouldn't drop a character because they're good, play who you like and who fits your style best.
No hate!
Wow, there is some hate on this board. You guys are ridiculous.
It's casuals. There is no reason to play super cereal in casual matches because there is no money on the line. Very few players (including the best players) play the same way in casuals that they do in the actual brackets. Even in these matches, these guys made decisions that they never would have in tournament matches (burning excess meter, gimmicky mix ups instead of guaranteed damage, etc.) which is exactly what casuals is used for... doing the fun, crazy things that are too dangerous in real matches.
These games are somewhat indicative of their actual skill, but shouldn't be looked on as the deciding factor in the "who is better" debate.
Why don't you all wait and see who places higher in the tournament they are all about to attend? That would probably be the best way to settle it. ;)
so...i just wanna say i kinda liked the commentators in these matches. couldn't really see them hyping up a big tourney but they said non-annoying stuff and felt pretty chill. perfect for casual fight nights. so good job, cuz i felt they were overlooked.
SSFIV: Sakonoko (CA) vs. Tatsujinken (VE) 11-03-10
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FelzWG...
sako dickriders that say its just casuals so he isnt playing his best are stupid as f*ck. Even though its casuals, ofcourse he is gonna play his best cuz hes traveled all over to america to show how good he is and show that he is better than US best players
why people care so much about 2 matches of casuals, I remember sako losing to a lot of players in the early matches, then all of sudden he would do a big streak and pretty much not lose anymore, if people really wanna say they are better than him just do a ft10 big money match and prove it....but no, 2 matches of casuals says it all, right?
@kaizy I was talking in general, not about those matches in particular, he seems to play better the more he plays against someone, probably trying to figure how the other guy plays in the first matches, though this is bad for standard tournaments, since you lose 2 matches to 2 players and that's it.
I have a strange feeling he was sandbagging but if not then i give it up to the Americans.
@ konachin
Exactly! And if Sako isn't that impressive, why didn't that big-mouthed wake up ultra spamming Marn beat him?
And FlashMetroid? I'd bet my life on it that Sako destroys his Viper any day. We've all seen what he did with Uryo's Viper.
Anyway, we'll see what happens at the tournament. Personally I don't think that Sako is going to win this because there is very little time here to adapt. I hope that i'm wrong, but i think that Sako is better in a first to ten tournament like Godsgarden. Almost no one can beat him in a first to ten.
@samurai yeah, I don't think is going to win too, cammy has bad matches with very popular chars, it's not that hard to lose 2 matches to a decent honda, balrog and some other chars, and there's a lot of big names in this tourney too, even though he's a beast, people are expecting too much from him, like he couldn't even lose this tourney, if it was a ft10 tourney a would bet a lot of money he would ate least get top3, but in a random best of 3 anything can happen in this game.
Its random when you see Daigo losing to Marn, I would bet my life on Daigo if it was in a ft10, but in a best of 3 this kinda sh*t happen. Another example, Daigo was wining 2-1 against Mago in godsgarden, but the result in the end was 10-3 to Mago, Mago would've been randomned out by Daigo if it was only best of 3, sorry if you don't understand, but it's that simple, the less games you play, the more random it is.
Sako might lose because I'm pretty sure he hasnt been to an offline tournament in a while much less fly to the US and compete here. Foreigners get thrown off their game by all the hype in here. But the crazy ass Marvel crowd probably wont be at SCR so who knows.
And Sako was probably sand bagging so was Justin and Marn (maybe not marn). Theres $10,000 on the line you really think he is gonna pull out all his tricks in casuals?!
Dickriding in general needs to stop. Sako is good, Marn is good, Justin is good, Hart is good, Daigo is good. End of story. As a Dudley player, even though the commentators were talking about Marn being flashy, which he unnecessarily was a couple of times, the resets are actually incredibly smart. A lot of the resets were done after long combos that stunned Sako. Marn was trying to bypass the ridiculous damage scaling and it was doubly effective since Sako likes to not dp. Finally, Sako clearly doesn't know that st. roundhouse xx short ducking is -3 for Dudley.
I think Daigo, Sako and Mago are the best players at the time
@120
Cause sako cant say no right? Cause he doesnt know there sizing him up right?
Seriously get her head out of ur ass.
You can't really evaluate one players skill over another in a few games. A character lock and a FT10 however, well, I'm sure Sako would beat most of them, if not all of them convincingly.
It may be that i'm just ignorant, but I don't feel marn deserves the nickname "daigo killer". I just don't feel that one win justifies it. Maybe something like "beat daigo once guy". That sounds about right. Or we could give gamerbee the "american champ killer" nickname. at least that happened more than once. But then again, I don't feel justin deserves that title....oh well
being an original american playstyle haters i got to say:
hell to sakos cammy justin wong owns him not one perfect but two .and i start to prefer american tournament because of the rush in games even if wong is known to be a camper(turtle player).
"There's nothing special about Sako. he is overrated"
overrated yeah but i think his combo are impossible to do.i didnt play cammy too much in ssf4 but i dont remember any of this combo possible in vanilla.
if it exist along ago than sakko is along with momochi and daigo the most accurate player in the world...i mean a 2:49 WTF is that combo? fierces to meduims to lights...
Mago is not "The Daigo Killer", he already crowned himself "2D God"
nobody ive seen beated daigo on regular basis.
not mago not sako not even kindevu the player that daigo fear most.
off topic since ssf4 daigo playstyle seems regressed or i dont know ,that online japanese thing is a chame on his palmares.maybe im dickrider4s to daigo but he seems......in fatigue.....
He beat Marn and barely lost to a match from Justin Wong. You act like he was just supposed to blow some of the best American players out of the water. The only two people, of all the SoCal challengers, that he lost to were Tatsu and Justin Wong. You guys are never satisfied. IMO Sako>J.Wong. He lost a best out of 3 set, get over it.
lol, Justin beats Sako twice in SoCal.
we have a winner.
There's nothing special about Sako. he is overrated.
