Many people use turbo, it doesnt increase their skill level, and this dude was just bad.
Even the pro juicebox said many times in his podcasts, turbo doesnt help and can even make you worse, so who cares if people use it or not. Skill will beat turbo every time.

i noticed the same thing on Guy's standing Hp. the hit box on it is in the elbow region while the punch itself goes much higher. and thats not the only place he has weird boxes, I did a run stop and got SRK'ed nearly a quarter screen away... thanks capcom

Damn I knew the range on her command throw was bad but...wow. I doesn't even make sense since the hitbox doesn't even reach her hands you know the part of the body you usually grab things with.

Before people complain about makatos throw u have to understand that it isnt like ochio or tornado throw. She combos off of it(ultra included). So when u take that into consideration u can kinda see why capcom did this to the range. At most u can prob extend the outbox to cover her arms, giving her a throw range like abel/honda would be too much, unless they adjusted the proirties of it, ie the jab verison would have the most range but the hitstun would be to short to combo an ultra(but u would be able to combo still).
Except makotos range is ridiculous if its canceled from her f+lk.
Everyone just wants to cry because they're terrible at the game. I've been saying the same damn thing since release as Justin Wong said recently, if you speed up her recovery and increase startup on her other specials she'll be fine.
Her offense DOES center around the threat of it because if it connects she can potentially do a tremendous amount of damage with absolutely no difficulty of execution.
The normal versions do extend through her arms, the range is not crap and when you cancel it the range is tremendous, more than probably any other grab in the game.
This isn't 3S, Makoto's character theme does not work nearly as well in SSF4.
In addition for everyone who has no idea, the ex version of karakusa can absorb a hit. The reason the ex is so short is because if someone sticks out a leg to stop you, you will grab that leg. 95% of the people who play Makoto are terrible, my self included but at least I don't whine about the character being the reason. Christ. Go into training, go play new people, play the damn game and stop staring at threads and frame data. So go ahead, complain about the character, whine to Capcom, do everything else EXCEPT playing the game and learning how it works.
People wonder why the Japanese are better? Because they don't bitch and moan. The accept what the game is and work to become good. Americans are lazy and stupid, myself (mostly) included.
If you believe that Japanese do not complain about the flaws of their characters, you are wrong. The only reason you don't see it is because most of them will after awhile just choose to play another character. You are being very rude by generalizing that all Americans are lazy and stupid merely because they believe Makoto to be a flawed, underpowered character. Surely, as she is bottom tier both in American and Japanese tier lists, there is weight to these concerns.
Yes, Makoto's offense places a large emphasis on Karakusa, but in a game with 6 frame reversal DPs, throw-invincible reversal ultras with armor break, and extremely powerful fireball zoning, and a huge emphasis on pokes and footsies, Makoto is not going to do well. She has one great move(st. MP) and her entire offense actually revolves around THAT. It is her best meaty, one of her best anti-airs, her best poke, and best hit-confirm. Otherwise, Makoto is a 950 Stamina character trying to footsie in a game where she has a dash so long that it can actually hurt her as much as it helps and a walk speed so slow that it's like trying to play Seth with none of the options, and the best she can do is try to trade advantageously, catch pokes with a sweep, and land a 5-9 frame command grab while being assailed by fireballs with fewer ways around them than any other characters except T.Hawk and Hakan.
Yes, her "theme" does not work in SSF4. She was made for an entirely different system of mechanics, and all of her moves really are worse on top of that than they were in 3S.
She is a character so disadvantaged that she is broken on a fundamental level. People are perfectly apt to complain when a character they like is crippled so hard. Most of the time they offer real arguments, whereas people who think Makoto is "mostly fine" just say "stop complaining, the Japanese never complain, you all just suck."
honestly what is that makoto image supposed to prove? show that hitbox in relation to her position 5 frames earlier when she is just standing there and then tell me the reach isn't enough. Do you whiners have ANY idea how OP that move would be if the hitbox extended all the way to her fists??
As a person who mains makoto and will always main her, mndy is completely right in his explanations of her flaws. Not only are her grabs gimped because of exactly what justin wong said because of her bad recovery on whiffs which = full punish, her ex version is garbage too. You know how many times I've tricked opponents to taking it but since they were holding back they walked slightly backwards in my dash animation and it whiffed. Oh GUESS WHAT I ate a full punish for guessing right by the way.
I'm glad they are actually buffing her in AE, but I really hope they buff her properly, if she doesn't have any footsie game or ex hayate absorbing a single move or being invincible to projectiles (and other characters that are higher tier have this by the way, so don't say it's broken) she will always be horrible and have horrible match ups. To the people thinking she's fine try playing against any shoto or characters like Bison or Rufus and see what happens, you'll cry.
It's so obvious how bad she is, stop being ignorant fools and consider that tiers are pretty important as well.

Did you seriously think they were gonna take 3S Makoto and put it in SSf4 without any tempering?
True, she needs buffs and she WILL GET THEM in the Arcade Edition.
However, don't expect to have the old 3S Makoto back. She was great in 3S, but it doesn't mean she needs to be THAT great in SSF4.
Nelaelu do you think even if they copied in 3rd strike makoto she would be as godlike as she was? She was so good because of parry and because you couldn't spam things out easy like you can in ssf4, she wouldn't be top tier for sure against the likes of some of these characters now. She would do well but she would still have to work for the wins

Please do not misinterpret my words. I did not expect them to put Makoto into SSF4 unchanged from her 3S incarnation. In fact, I was nervous when I heard Makoto would be included in SSF4, as she was designed to work with 3S's mechanics and since SSF4 has entirely different mechanics I knew she would transition very poorly. Higher scaling, weaker juggles, lack of parry, and a greater emphasis on poking, footsies, and zoning/spacing meant that even before she was out, any Makoto player could tell she would be disadvantaged.
That said I do not understand what the point of your reply is. Is it to criticize me for expecting Makoto to be just as effective in SSF4 as she was in 3S? If so, I never said that was what I wanted. I do not wish for her to be overpowered, either. What I would like is if she were an effective character with the ability to compete on even footing with the rest of the cast. Right now, she is arguably the most disadvantaged character in the game, tied with Hakan.

As for the post, I am not sure why someone using turbo is front-page news at EventHubs. :) Odd to think that we're all supposed to buy TE Fightsticks and carefully NOT use the turbo in order to earn some sort of cred. Button-mashing cred, I guess. That guy in the video certainly didn't find a good use for it, though.

She is getting some for the Arcade Edition though. I hope you will be satisfied (don't be disappointed if she STILL won't be as good as in 3S)
The range on EX karakusa is shorter than HK-Karakusa. just throwing that out there.
As a Makoto main, i dont even want half the changes she has been reported to have in AE. But they are all welcome.
I would of been happy with just EX-Karakusa being throw invincible and for her to have at least 1000 health.
For someone who is bound to take a few hits from fireball characters to have 950 health, isnt really fair.
Any GOOD/half decent guile, sagat, ryu, etc, can get free damage essentially, with well timed fireballs.
And having to carefully time a EX-Oroshi through an EX-Sonic Boom as an option to advance forward, but with a chance of getting a flash kick or another sonic boom in my face, is just laughable.
I can understand Karakusa being the only command throw in the game that is not throw invincible, but i'd at least like to do an EX-Kara Karakusa and not get grabbed out of it by accident -_-
yee, yee. Ok to be fair to Seth, he said that on March 25th, I bet the grab HAD more range in that version of the game, and the final product ended up nerfing it.
@ 27, if you played her a bit you would know the range on her ex-grab is absolutely terrible. Everyone knew it was terrible even before the hitbox data came out. The reason for the range is that it leads to an ultra and has super armor. The problem comes in when anyone who holds back can simply avoid the grab due to its horrible range.
Seth was most likely taking about kara-karakusa or the light k version which has decent range even when you just 632146 it.
Eventhubs is becoming more like srk now, most people can't talk here without insulting other characters or players..!

Sure, you can play with them in a boring way, but I don't believe they are fundamentally boring. Actually, besides maybe Dhalsim, Guile and Zangief, I can't see any characters with boring tendencies.
If anything, shotos are cool because of the abundant tools they have, and make for characters that are not one-track-characters. At least, they can be played like that.
People just hate shotos because they fight them everytime,rufus and bison are way much high in so called tier list but they dont hate them much just because they dont fight them often,that the only pure reason but people make stupid excuses like look a dp that stuffs everything(without thinking how risky it is or how many others charac have this like fei,cammy) or look a fireball how can i past that broken..!or so many tools(without thinking the tools others have).! Broken..!..so haters please stop hating and play the damn game if u dont like shotos dont play them just dont call them something like easy mode char or scrubs fav etc..! PEACE..!

Yes EX Kara range is atrocious. The worst part is that it doesn't even grab limbs when people stick them out like some other command throws, so you absorb the hit, whiff and then get punished twice as hard. Characters like Cody and Rog can even jabmash safely through it because their cr.jabs have long enough range that they're safe. In short, the move is pretty much exclusively for when you're positive that someone is going to hit buttons right next to you.
All of that being said, it still has it's occasional uses in mixups and such and Makoto is far better than people give her credit for. She's somewhere low-mid IMO, most people just don't know how to play her in SSF4/don't have the patience.
@ 9 remember that a "mis-quote" is when you don't appropriatly quote a person from a video, article or whatever. These were his exact words im afraid so it's not a mis-quote.
But keep in mind that Seth plays these games during development and characters go through a whole number of changes. The dev blogs stated a good example was Abel. He was not intended to be so strong but due to development time they did'nt have time to test so his moves and Ultra 2 became extreamly strong. The opposite happened with Makoto who was thought to be too strong but ended up nerfing her too much.
To support this it should be noted that Abels Ultra 2 has a longer recovery time and Makoto's hayate is now Armor breaking, no word on the karakusa though but im sure it's fixed.
The japanese players complain yes, but they also just get the f--k over it and play the damn game. Where as here for some reason everyone just wants to moan on srk about how terrible Makoto is and shame on Capcom, shame on everyone, blah blah blah blah.
Just get over it. If you were practicing instead of whining when/if she does change you'll just be that much stronger. And if she doesn't you won't have wasted time.

I just looked at it. U think thats the real deal? I cant make out all of them, but i see bison(DELICIOUS), viper, mega man, zero, storm, venom, i think ms marvel? I wish i could see a clearly shot. The rest of the cast looks pretty nice.

Strider, she hulk, HOWARD THE DUCK(i cant wait to see if that ones true). THe rest are blurry. The cast looks pretty interesting. Of course there are some favorites that people will miss but lets see how it will play.
