There's a new guide on the site for those of you wondering how many points it takes to get a better grade in Super Street Fighter 4's online ranked mode.
The fact that there is a guide for this makes me lol.
I thought it was really simple.
Then again, in the world we live in, there's a guide for everything!
I think people should also list if they play on XBL or PSN... just to see what most people are playing on. (Pretty sure its XBL though.

I don't have that much points because I always play endless instead of ranked...
I'm not too far behind you with Rose, Catalyst. I'm just shy of A rank at around 13k. It can be pretty hard to get the higher ranks, especially when I only play about 30 mins of ranked at a time. Endless battles are just too addicting, lol.
How do you get 'more BP'?
I'mat about 3300PP and 5700BP for Sagat and yet I can never get over 6000 BP. Lol it's not like it matters to me I just wonder why I've been stuck at under 6000 for so long. I see so many people with about 2400PP(or less) with 10,000+ BP, a lot of Ryu's to say the least :p
last i checked i was ranked 70 in the xbl leaderboards for DeeJay (64XX BP lol) and it doesn't make a bit of difference guys........
i still get beat by really ****ty dudes... I beat some really good dudes.. But hey, i'm in the top 100.. which makes me kinda happy..

In my opinion I think the PP's shows how the good the player actually is because you lose a lot more of those than BP whenever losing in a battle. Its like going up against a Ryu with a BP of 7000 and his PP 1500
...you know he has lost a lot of times haha

Because your rank doesn't go down when you lose point. Once you reach a rank it is that characters rank forever, even if they go back down to 0 BP.

Sure seems like it? I got my Adon up to 6k, then I started screwing around trying out new combos and junk, and experimenting with Instant Air Jaguar Kicks; so obviously I started to lose a bunch 'cus I was horsing around, and I went back down to 3K... Now I'm a hell of a lot better than I was when I had 6k BP, and I win a lot more, but I can't get past 3.5k again hahaha. It's painful. It must be harder to gain points once you rank up, and easier to go down...

My Guy is a C+ with I think around 3300-3400BP. It's tough but just going with it. Toughest part is learning the bad matchups, but that's just part of the game. Short term goal is 5000BP in maybe another month or so hopefully.
@MisguidedAngel actually, you can lose a rank.
I believe you down rank if your points go down to two grades below your current rank, so if you get B rank (5000BP) and you go down below 2500BP into C point range, you will down rank. I know this from personal experience :P
Based on that, I suppose if a Grand Master loses enough points to go below 30000BP, he would down rank also.
I think the time of day you play also plays a big role. Its like the old castlevania games, the real monsters come out at night, so its harder to get points then. ;)

I just got a fight stick so I'm learning how to play again, but my goal is to reach rank B with Dan.
But things got a little hard because of bad matchups like blanka, I win with Dan, play with the same guy again and he gets blanka -_-.

yeah... i'm pretty sure i have losing records with each of my alts... and on top of that, the occasional loss to a low ranked scrub (idk why i blow matches against them sometimes... seriously) and the low ranked but highly skilled people - some of which are skilled people who have started over with a new user, know this is true because some of my friends have beaten under different usernames and then be like "hey shadow it's me _____" lol.
as for "in the next 3 months" idk if i have any major ambitions for the next 3 months, but i guess it would be nice to get my vega to A rank... it's tough though due to my cold streaks and inconsistencies...
i'd also like to get all my alts better too. oh yeah... i forgot one...

I wonder how long and often people that are Grand Masters have to play to get that high up. I checked the leaderboards a while ago and only saw 1 Grand Master and 1 Master.

I don't know if vgchartz is accurate, but according to sales ps3 sold more copies of both SF4 and SSF4. Whether or not those sales = online players I'm not sure, I think ps3 might have more players, who knows. Anyway:

as far as player points go... up and down all the time, since I try out different characters all the time, and usually lose miserably with them hehe.
i was looking at PSN ranked boards the other day, and ive seen some guys with 35 000pp. someone please tell me they hacked lol.

maybe i didnt see it.. But what i dont understand about the points is if you are playing someone that has 500bp and you have 5500bp and lose they get 35bp whatever you get the idea but you win you get like 2bp points...... now if you fight a player that has 11000bp and you have 5500. so now you see the difference in points are the same between the two fights. but this time you lose you still lose 35 points from a player who's main is way higher than you are should they not get 2 for winning. thats what i get for winning against someone that has 500. they need to fix this
