Yeah, My first two guesses would be either Urien or Elena. Just Look a bit above the japanese characters and you see a white undergarment line.
Just by the looks of the character crouching, I'm leaning towards Urien.

Ok Alex or Elena. Look at the torso area.The arms are quite small. Then again it could be a skirt of some sort like Karin. Ok i would go with Alex and Karin announced or Elena and Karin.
It's more likely Urien than Alex,but it's not clear, neither can anyone say it's clearly either. Alex arms are a bit bigger than Urien's, but the character feels a bit taller which feels a bit more like Urien. Don't care too much about Yun, Yang, Alex, Urien or any other characters that may appear on SSF4.I just hope Elena is in.
I wished Ono would just reveal the rest of the characters for this game, waiting for character reveals is just too old for a game that has already been out. Suspense is not there at all when the game already has a good balance of characters. He should just go ahead and tell us what characters will be in there, it want matter either way.

i think it might be alex and honestly i don't know why they didn't add him in the first place. they already have a model done for him in TvC, so it's not like they had to use up that much time having to remake one from scratch.
i also doubt it's yang or yun due to the fact that their sprites for blocking low looks nothing like that, that is if capcom recreated them like their old sprites.

Damn you guys are dumb. There is no reason to think that's Urien. First off that thing above Sim's head is not a hand or sleeve, its a bird. Its also not blocking anything. That's a hit (see, they're on fire). The only thing we have to work with is that its low to the ground and the STAGE is AFRICA. If I had to make a wager, I would say Elena, but really there is no way to know.
When the image is this vague, people will start to see what they want to see. :P

Don't think its Alex i think Urien because if you look at that glowing picture Sims skin is light blue and Urien might have the same skin color as him. If it was Alex i do not think he would be glowing light blue at his legs because of his pants. Just my guess.

So the thing that looks like a white thong in that picture doesn't actually mean much. I went into training mode and used Yoga Inferno while turbo pausing the game. That white thong thing appears on almost every character that eats yoga inferno for a few frames (namely Adon).

It's Elena, hence the Africa stage. Big legs... There's already two men, Yun & Yang. I'm putting ALL my money on Elena & Karin. Karin was a hard cut for SSFIV, fourth pick to be entered, actually. If not Elena, then it HAS to be Alex. SSFIV IS the prequel to SF3.
Literally the only part that is visible is the hand to the top right of the fire, and there is a light blue something that's on the arm. It could be a bracelet or a sleeve, but it's almost certainly not Urien. I don't think it's Alex because there isn't a glove on the hand, and for that same reason it's probably not Karin. Maybe it's the end of R. Mika's blue sleeve? Maybe Elena's bracelet? I'd be disappointed if either were true, as I'm hoping for Karin.
The legs aren't too big. They're are just about the same size as Dhalsim's if you look a little harder.

Alex is bigger in 3s but look how alot of the other character changed will makeing the transition to sf4. Blanka was alot more muscular, cammy had more "curvys", chun didnt have tree trunk thights(her character in mvc3 is spot on), dudley has also bigger.
The give anyway for me is that u can kind of make out alexs suspenders, it could be a totally new character but i guess we will wait and see. Ono will either give us a more definative hint next week or just go right ahead and reveal.

I believe it is Urien. I went to Youtube and looked up some of his videos. When he blocks low it is practically the same Image, same stance. You can almost make out the outline of limbs that match the video on youtube. I am hoping I am wrong and that it is INDEED Elena, but if I am wrong and it IS Urien............ It's NOT Urien in his guard pose - the character is on FIRE, which only happens if Dhalsim's super actually connects and doesn't get blocked.

You can "obviously" see an upper body (muscular), a golden bang on fire, and a silhouette of what looks to be baggy pants. The baggy pants+bang on fire looks to be Charlie/Alex. However....I was working with my laptop's monitor and noticed another interesting but obscure detail. I tilted my monitor backwards and of course the light dims and the screen gets darker.
The chest area of whoever is on fire has some type of marking rolling down, it becomes more obvious once I bend the monitor back.
If it's chun or anyone else I'll be surprised. But if not....Hypa Bomb!
It's amazing to me how some of you are so sure about details you think you see in this picture. It was taken from far away, has a small resolution, and there is fire EVERYWHERE. You're making up stuff from nothing. You're sharpening fire effects into shapes and thinking you see details. It's like thinking a picture you see on the moon or in the clouds is actually the real thing.
And how can you dispute the size? It's the EXACT same size as Chun-Li, with the exact same pose. Why in the hell would Alex be the same size as Chun-Li?

@341: Why does the cloth have to be hanging all the way down? There are clothing physics in this game. When you crouch, hanging pieces of cloth aren't magically moved all the way down to the ground. They slowly fall down. It's likely the Chun-Li had just crouched, or hell, it's also likely you can't tell because the picture is so small and it's being obscured by text at the bottom of the screen.
And why are you taking the shape of a burning person to be absolute? There's fire everywhere. The shoulders are more than consistent enough. What matters is that the same part of her body shows through in both pictures: the right breast and right shoulder, and the size and shape of the character matches up perfectly. How can you even dispute this? The only possible exception out there would be R. Mika, unless you're saying Alex, Urien, Charlie, etc are all the same size as Chun-Li.

BS about clothes physics. yes theyre are clothes physics, ryus head band and all that. but it doesnt take 3 seconds for chunlis garment to gracefully float to the floor after she crouches. (example)
its an animation, that takes a tenth of a second. a photo wouldn't capture the frames where the garment is gracefully falling to the floor. it snapped the crouch animation, and the garments don't match up.

One of the main reasons I believe it's Karin is because Karin didn't look very "sexual" in Alpha. She looked like Sakura body-wise. With this being said, Sakura now has a chest in SFIV and since Karin is supposed to be the babe of the schoolgirl genre; they're obviously going to make her even hotter and bustier. I know it's either Karin or Elena - that or Chun.. but then the hair wouldn't make sense. I just KNOW it's not a male character though. Pecks or not, that's not anything. By the way, look at the gloves near Dsalsim's body and look at Karin i this video. You can't see the texture of the gloves in the picture taken by Ono, but you can see a kinda "extension of cloth" from the hands. Also, that is clearly a skirt with a white rimming on the bottom.. I thought so originally too, but if you keep looking at it - it just doesn't match up. The hair in the picture is thin in the front, not thick and in one piece like Yang's.

i really hope after the AE characters come out (hopefully 6) to consoles that later a exspantion filled with balance changes and a few more characters for console gets released, because its looking like there is going to be quite a few god characters that wont make the cut..

It cannot be chun li because if you compare both images, the CROCHIAL REGION in the mysterious pic shows the character is wearing something bigger that just pantys. Don't kid yourselves you know its ALEX! besides you all know deep down inside you want to see his Super Stun Gun Headbutt, Ultra 1 Hyper Bomb and Ultra 2 Boomerang Raid. We're probably all wrong, but I'll throw my suspects into the mix, in the order most to least likely:
01: Alex (the evidence presented earlier is very compelling)
02: Elena (the stage might be a clue and they've been wanting to add her for a while. Plus, the chance that the update will get a female addition makes sense).
03: Urien (that crouching stance is pretty convincing too)
04: Charlie (a total long shot, but those Egon Spangler bangs might be the giveaway)
I guess we'll know the answer soon, since we're in November now. My biggest hope is that rumor about 6 new characters (including Yun & Yang) will become reality, and that it will be evenly split between SFIII & Alpha characters. Fingers crossed ^_^

So, There is a mild chance that Ono caught a really good frame where that hair was blurred out and it could be alex, but anything semblant of his boots aren't visible, nor is gauntlets/hair/headband.

So what i'm tired of all this character crap especially when most of you don't even play the new characters on ssf4 as it is. I believe karin won't be in because they still need popular characters for sf x tekken so its probably some characters like yun and yang that weren't asked for. Which is fine with me since its proven that because of tiers people won't play who they want anyway if they end up sucking so who cares.
Yup it is Alex...If you take the time to focus on the outline of the body, the stance, the red bandana, the topless shirt and there are other things that stand out as well.

No it's not Chun Li..If you have played enough Street Fighter 4. You would know thats not her. How bout this go in practice mode pick Dhalsim and then pick Chun Li and do your special and watch the hit animation and you will know thats not her and for the record point blank period it doesn't look like her at all.
Why do people keep saying that characters need to be saved for Sf x tekken? Aren't the big SF characters, like Ryu, Ken, Chun Li, etc... already in SSF4? That's not going to stop them from being in SF x tekken as well.
I have my preferences, but I will enjoy just about any addition to the SSF4 roster. More fighters = more match-ups and more longevity. Of course some are played more than others but that's ok with me. That just makes that rare match up against a really skilled Hakan player even more enjoyable.

There's no feet in Ono's image because the black banner covers it.
Also, the person shown in Ono's image has a much thinner torso than Alex, who has quite a bit more muscle (And would likely look even bigger in SSFIV, see also: Ryu) Also, his left knee (The one closer to Dhalsim in your overlay) is too high up and does not match up.
There is quite a few obstructions in Ono's shot which would make it a bit confusing-- "PRESS START", the black banner of text along the bottom, the Blanka figure, and of course the FIRE.

I just dont understand why some people dont like Elena. Is it because they just dont know how to use her? or is it because she has all kicks and not punches? Judging from the stance and size of the character, it looks to be Yang. But it probably is a new character; my guess is Urien?
It's not Chun Li, no matter how much the few are trying to force this on people. I checked. When standing and caught in Dhalsim's Super, her head is at a higher altitude than what's been shown here; the same applies to her crouch positioning. Also no clear details are shown in the crouch area when she's engulfed in flames.
I can't come to any conclusions as to who it is, but I added some color filters and such to get better views of the figure, check 'em out...

That is R. Mika period. What other character in SF do you know with blue bracelets with the possible exception of maybe Hugo and Karin. It can't be Karin though for the simple fact that the character being hit is a lot bigger than a small Sakura-like frame of Karin. It could be Hugo but I doubt they would put him in any other color other than his purple outfit. So I conclude it is Mika and I am 98% sure of this.

The picture sucks too much for you to even be able to tell. Either it's not falling that far because she crouched right before getting hit, or you just plain can't see it because the picture is tiny and there's text from the game obscuring it.
I can understand still hoping for it to be another character, but atleast admit that it looks more like Chun-Li than ANY OF THESE SUGGESTIONS. Especially the big huge dudes like Alex. Ono is telling the truth. That is in fact a new character, being Ono himself. His ability is to dress up as any of the cast members, but only in joke form (ala dan) Like when he is claw, he will hit his face on the floor when going for a off the wall, and his srk's only make him go off the ground by a few inches.
It kinda looks like Iori Yagami from King of Fighters series.
That white cloth part knees up, and the reddish pants under, the shape of the body also fits, and you can kinda make out the hair.
Many are saying Alex, some are saying Karin, others Urien, and even Elena. I have been looking at the picture several times and comparing this with the characters' photos (Elena, Alex, Urien, Karin). This is only my thoughts. The evidence that's present is

I looked closely and I see bands around the shin and ankle which leads me to believe this could be Elena =^D. Although it's a ways to say, this is my hypothesis.
Facts for support
-A character resembling Elena makes a cameo in Street Fighter Alpha 2, in Dhalsim's stage lying on an elephant; this is interesting
-It's in Africa and why would it be in Africa versus any other stage?
-waist is small with a curve possibly leading to a female
-I looked at Urien and believe it was him until I saw bands around the leg and ankle.

SF4 has hard links and easy links, it's just that the engine is tailored to a "easy to start, hard to master" philosophy. III strike is more like "hard to start, impossible to master," rflmao.

all i see is yang. i see his hair, his body frame, his baggy pants, his clothes outline. if this is a new character i would hope urien.i've been eagerly awaiting for them to announce karin but it seems as if that wont be happening. street fighter 3rd strike scared away too many fans of the franchise and it was capcoms failed shot at past glory. the cast was bland, parrying does take a lot of skill but can often be very cheap, it rendered a vast majority of things you do useless such as anti air, specials and fireballs. the hardcore crowd wants it back as for the huge amount of ppl that play street fighter 4 would pass on it. i for one only liked a few characters from 3rd strike like ibuki,urien,alex,dudley and makoto because they were the only characters in the cast that stood out and had that key element that it took to define themselves out of the crappy roster non classic characters that ppl longed to see back. i miss the alpha series alot....sigh. great roster, fun gamplay and an overall great fighting experience.
I feel like either it's Chun Li, otherwise we can't say for sure. However, I was a little bored yesterday and MS Painted some outlines of Rolento and Yang over the flamed silhouette. :P Even though I don't necessarily think it's either of those two.

At first I thought it was Alex. Not only because of all the evidence but because I think I saw one of his green suspenders under the information bar at the bottom near the leg but that is probably just the grass. I now think that it is Chun Li not only because of the pics that guy took because when asked who was getting burned Ono replied "It's me"
If I am not mistaken didn't Ono cosplay as Chun Li before? It could be someone new. I have no proof if it is or not but if it IS a new character I would go with Alex but for now I am sticking with the Chun Li theory.

Obviously, if you look at the hand in the top right, it's a white complexion, leaving urien out since he has darker hands, but with the flame, it is still a possibility. Alex and Mika left.
On the bottom of the pic you can bearly make out what seems to be boot or that goes up to about the knee, which gives it another chance of being mika, and as multiple people have pointed out, there seems to be something around the crotch, like the thing that Urien wears, but if you look closely, you can see it comes from the rest of the body like R. Mikas costume.
Therefore, I think that it's most likely Mika. Also, Ono has talked about how he wants her in it whenever anyone talks about a character.
Plus. It would be cool to see her ass attack in high definition, but that's just me.:3
