Moyin sent in a heads up that he posted a Q&A with Capcom's Seth Killian concerning fighting games and the community.Do you use some kind of tier list when you're developing fighting games?
Seth: We don’t use “tiers” exactly, but we do use internal matchup grids to focus our thinking in terms of character balance. They can change very drastically over the course of development, and sometimes a small change can have a massive impact on the overall standings.
Does Capcom have more plans involving Final Fight in any way, shape or form?
Seth: No plans to announce right now, but I think it’s safe to say you haven't heard the last of your favorite Final Fight characters.
Do you guys have any plans for a Capcom vs. SNK 3?
Seth: At the moment, Capcom is focused on Marvel vs. Capcom 3, but the Capcom vs. SNK series was popular with the hardcore [players], and we’re always interested in new collaborations.
Back in the day you played as a competitive player, what do you enjoy most? Being an active player or being behind the scenes, like what you're doing with EVO?
Seth: Both had their good sides. Winning a tournament is an amazing feeling, but it’s mostly just satisfying to you. When you organize a good event, however, you’re a part of something that so many other people can enjoy. Overall I’d say the organizing is more rewarding, although I do miss the joys of crushing competition. I do still play in live events sometimes, but I don’t have the time to practice as much anymore. When I can find time to play, it’s usually very late at night, so I play online quite a bit. I’ve been successful there, but it’s a different experience.
Super Street Fighter 4 is big hit in Chile, do you think EVO will have tournaments there, like they ran in Brazil?
Seth: Street Fighter is a truly worldwide phenomenon, and I’d love to see more tournaments like EVO across South America and in Chile specifically. If there’s one thing I have learned in all my years as a player, it’s that there are amazing fighters from around all around the world with unique styles. Truly it’s just like the game itself: a real competition among world warriors.
CAPCOM, YOU NEED TO RE RELEASE STREET FIGHTER 3RD STRIKE FOR THE PS3 AND XBOX360...!!!!!
it can't be that hard, and i'm sure you would make a hell of a lot of money..
@#5
It wouldn't be hard to port the game. What WOULD be hard is developing an online mode and programming a net code. They would need to make sure the game ran properly online, with minimal lag possible.
@Moyin yes, chilean, don't use psn thought... i play sf4 on pc... GFWL, this is my tag.
you can add me to msn if you like... piccolo@decepticons.cl
"but I think it’s safe to say you haven't heard the last of your favorite Final Fight characters."
This sounds suspiciously like one or more Final Fight characters could be the added characters to the SSF4 arcade. (Rolento, Hugo, and/or Sodom). I could be looking into this too much, but I know with the recent rumor being damn near confirmed by Gootecks... who knows.
@14
I was thinking that too
I am doubting Sodom though, but "Hugo" along with our favorite transvestite "Poison"!
I am certain in my mind we will also get Ono's choice "Rolento" as another Final fight addition
Anything else would just be a guess.
I would love to see a fresh FF character brought in to fight as well (playable Poison for an example)
This was a cool read. Kudos to Seth for putting up with all the whining and bs from the community all the time, especially before a game even drops. Definitely looking forward to MvC3.
