Capcom's Seth Killian and Christian Svensson hit up the Unity Boards recently to dish a few more details about Marvel vs. Capcom 3.Will Marvel vs. Capcom 3 be playable at this year's E3?
Seth: I'm pushing very hard to make sure people get a chance to play MvC3, whether that be at E3 or otherwise. Part of the issue is that (as has been repeatedly mentioned), there are many non-final aspects about the game. This should be obvious given where it is in the development cycle, but the concern is that if we show something that isn't 100% done, everyone will still treat it like this was the final product rather than a game that's not coming out until 2011.
At any rate, trying to get MvC3 into your hands soon, and as usual, regardless of MvC3, we WILL be getting a bunch of Unity members into the show :D
What's the top priority for MvC3 character selection? Is it popularity or how well the characters will fit into a fighting game?
Sven: It's a combination of those things.
Sure we have to have some of the fan favorites (e.g. popular characters). Then there are some characters that were selected just because they would have cool abilities that fit the gameplay well (which are often a bit more obscure or at least lesser known).
With as many popular characters as both companies have, inevitably, some people will be disappointed that character X, Y or Z isn't in it, but as Niitsuma-san has said, we're trying to get as many in as we can in the development time we've had.
Will MvC3 use GGPO for its online play?
Seth: Nothing has been decided yet regarding MVC3 online. ♥ GGPO.
How come we haven't heard about more new characters for MvC3 yet? You guys need to hurry up and put out more information, I need to know!
Sven: There's a set schedule for which we'll be showing/announcing new characters that leads all the way up to launch. Totally appreciate the passion though.
What are some of the details concerning your agreement with Marvel? Also, since you guys are working on MvC3, can you release your older Marvel titles too and create more games based on that franchise?
Sven: I negotiated both the MvC3 and MvC2 contracts and I'm really not at liberty to share details of significance in those agreements.
But in the name of setting your expectations I will say, both are separate agreements that were negotiated at different times. In the MvC3 contract's case, it only grants us the rights to create MvC3. It does not grant any rights to release older titles from past agreements.
So just more sitting and waiting for more characters to be confirmed
Phoenix Wright is quite far from being an obscure character. Not to mention he's had lots of fan support since TvC:UAS was announced, so he really doesn't fit the bill here.
I sure hope he's in this time, I'm just saying he's not the character they're talking about.
@#4 Yeah u may be right. The way i see it since that whole TvC fiasco Phoenix is almost a shoe-in.
@#5 ID be fine if they just announced a character every week or 2 instead of making us wait for 3 weeks then the big announcement is either "wait longer" or "this is how this game came to be"
Can we get some Illuminati members in here? Black Bolt and Namor would be sweet! Screw Wolvy and Cyclops, Black Bolt solos CELESTIALS, and obliterates Apocalypse after he wiped out half of Marvel with JUST THE SOUND OF HIS LIPS PARTING.
Also this game needs is Protoman. We had Megaman(Megaman series), Roll(Megaman Series), Megaman Volnutt(Megaman Legends), Tronne Bonne(Megaman Legends),Servbot(Megaman Legends) Zero(Megaman X)
The only megaman characters they could add are X, Axl, Protoman, Tiesal,Bass. Out of all of those who would be cooler than Protoman. HE'S PROTO-man, HE'S THE FIRST! He wears a scarf and a shaded visor!! COME ONNNNNNNNNNN
C´mon CAPCOM, let´s talk seriously.
Just say if the PC version will be released or not!
what i want is kurow kirishima 2 be mvc3 and 2 pair off with death strike.
what i want is kurow kirishima 2 be in mvc3 and 2 pair off with death strike. (srry bout that)
Make more SF Games and less combo filled combo fests, some people dont want to memorize 30 button presses in a row and would much rather use strategy and not die because they got ultra mega combo'd. Make them friendly, like SFIV is.
Gene from God Hand is an obscure character and would obviously work well in a FIGHTING game. Make it happen, Capcom
hey capcom, you guys should add akira or hayato from rival schools. s**t would be serious.
@24
if u make sf4 any more easier it will become smash bros. Out of all the sf's 4 is the only game were total morons can still get some wins and that says enough.
@13 X and Bass(maybe Protoman) are the only megaman characters that deserve a spot in this one, I think.
@13 X is more powerful than any of his other prototypes...by far.
@13 they could let him utilize his armors and dig a lot more into his ability to assimilate other techniques and make them his own....for a limited of time only, of course. lol
@13 but hell....I wouldnt complain if they did bring back the original megaman prototype and allow him utilize Rush and Beat a little more.....Maybe even allow him to use the Rush Armor...
@42
The only Megaman should be X, Protoman, or Bass.
MMZ Zero and EXE were featured in Onimusha Blade Warriors, and MMZ Zero was featured in SvC Chaos, so no more MMZ Zero. Also, EXE sucks really badly, and is hardly a good representation for the glorious Megaman series.
The REAL Zero FINALLY shined in TvC, and I'm happy with that.
As for Sigma and Vile, they don't really give the vibe of a playable character in a crossover game. If ANYthing, Dr. Wily should be a playable character, like he was in the Arcade game: Mega Man 2 The Power Fighters.
FIRST!
and sweet!
