Thanks to Ex Ein for sending this over.
This guy know's what he's talking about. I hope they do make it into a TV series, i think that would be best imo. I just wish they got a younger/bit bigger Ryu. I'm still happy about it. I think the guy's who made that other street fighter: begginings end, had better martial arts, but it seems like these guy's have won, so i'm going to keep watching there youtube video to get the views up.
If you watched the movie, his accent is alright. He's not the best actor, but if they did something more substantial, hopefully they'd have more rehearsal and possibly better directing. I can't help but point out the overwhelmingly negative opinions of the short when it came out, in contrast to everyone excited about them doing a new project.
If they can pull it together, I'd watch it.
@ 13
it's (American) the easiest accent in the world put on, any brit can do an accurate american accent but it don't work the other way round lol listening to an american try and talk british is cringe worthy and embaressing.
this is the best looking SF film so far, but still nowhere near perfect.
#18 I agree, Ken is perfect but Ryu (especially compared to ken) is not buff enough.
I think the Ryu actor looks a lot like the character ( facially ). And there's nothing a couple of hours at the gym won't fix. So I think they've got the Ryu/Ken thing down.. I just hope that they don't make a big deal out of EVERY hadouken in the movie, and instead make it more like the game. for example if Ken misses the Shoryuken, he gets punished or something like that. I think every SF player would appreciate that kind of thing.
Everyone bashing the Legacy short are just idiots. What did you expect with a small budget and a very short time to film? Its got to be tough to train/coordinate a fight scene with such a small amount of time. The dude that played Ryu was great, yeah he looked small but its not like he had a year to prepare and put on some muscle.Of course it could have been better but its still better than any other SF film(fan made or not,10x better than that Chun Li movie)
Hopefully,Capcom and some production company will give these guys the go ahead to make a tv series. Would like to see how they would do Blanka and Dhalsim and who would play Zangief?
I think they have the right mind set and the passion to do it, it could be great. If it sucks, well,I think Street Fighter fans are used to failed Street Fighter movies/series by now, that it wont even matter.
The Moral of the story here is that REAL is BETTER. These guys kept to the concept of what street fighter is about and just look, It's already better than the first SF movie and Chun Legends. I respect those movies but I must hold these guys in high regards.
So far, I feel it is a great attempt to bring the game to life. Better than anything live action that has been done before. Little changes can make it better, like get rid of the eyebrows. The actor who plays Ken brow's are great naturally and put a little more muscle on them(not too much). The costumes could be better too, like Ryu belt with the Japanese lettering on it or the hand guards to be more substantial. But the feeling this movie invokes is great and for the budget hats off to these guys.
Very low budget and such a small amount of time to film and yet the video looks more accurate than what we have seen live action wise. Good job, looking foward to a tv-series or movie.
It's nice that Joey Ansah is giving fan service to other characters and thinking about them but truthfully I think I speak for the rest of the community when I say that we just want at least a whole episode or a movie FAITHFULLY done right even IF some characters we love are nothing BUT cameos.
As for #24 (al2k)
Given that the costuming etc. were done on short time and favors like Joey said, I'm sure details can be done even more on a bigger scale once they're on a bigger budget.
What's this about not having much time? Didn't they originally say it took almost a year?
why are complainging about ryu he looks pretty dam good for a ryu, if u artistically challenged people haven't notice ryu isn't drawn like an asian hes more caucausian drawn. so its really hard to find an asian that looks like that.
the eyebrows are iconic and should stay, any sf fan should know that, i can appreciate it alot more now that i know how much work was put into it. and the flame was real! thats amazing.
that being said i still think that SF beginings end was done better.. the double hadouken the way they blocked it.. the normal moves was there.. the focus attack.. and the epic metsu shoryu cancelled.. plus the choregraphy was alot better cuz they were stunt people!
i look forward to more from these guys.. oh btw, if they want a sagat they need brandon vera.. he is spot on as a sagat
Now, I just watch street fighter beginnings end. It is also was pretty damn good, the fighting was great a bit sped up. effects were good but legacy is better, Ken hair was terrible. No chessy eyebrows and the costumes were poorer than Legacy, the hand guards were good compared to legecy but the slippers got to go except if you are akuma. They both are great(better than Hollywood) if only they could work together somehow
Ok, just watch the behind the scene videos on Legacy and I have an appreciation for the movie. I see now that costumes for the most part are pretty good. The director went to the trouble of dirting up Ryu gi while keeping ken's sharp and the hand guards are not that bad. Even the brow's in some shots look good but ridiculous in others but it's growing on me. Hopefully, this guy could get some more funds and make it better. This is an excellent start. Kinda getting excited over both Legacy and Beginnings, going to play SSF4 now. Hadoken!
Making a live action series with each character's story fleshed out looks like it's a pretty cool idea! If this keeps up, we should all be in for a treat.
If ever they need to pick an actress suitable to play Cammy, I sure hope it's not Kylie Minogue (Austrailian singer/actress who depicted Cammy in the 1994 SF movie). Who should play her instead? I dunno, someone with defined muscle tone but not manly, and she needs to have a backside worthy of Cammy's character.
Personally, I would love to see it as a series as they mentioned. The reason why movie-game adaptations of these kinds of games are difficult to approach as a movie is because there's way too many things to cover, even for a trilogy with each film being 3 hours each. In addition, a series organizes plots that focus on specific characters and blends well with the intro to end unlike what it can do in a movie.
The Beginnings End was great for what they are able to do. Both fighting scenes were great, but I do prefer the more cleaner special effects in Legacy.
Hopefully, if the series goes well, it would be similar to how Mortal Kombat was: Two crappy movies, but redeemed itself with Conquest, though sadly they canceled the series due to budget issues. Hopefully, if they do a series, it doesn't end up like an unfinished cliffhanger like Conquest did.
I think they should get the guy from the 94 movie to play Zang he did a great job especially with the humor and there was no scene he was in that was unintentionally funny which is funny cause that and Raul Julia's over all performance were the only good things to come from the 94 movie.
AND BE HOLD SATAN AS HE FELL FROM HEAVEN....LIKE LIGHTING!
Quick change the channel
While the cast may not be perfect from a visual point of view, I like it. I think it is pretty awesome with the low budget they had, 30+ persons, and all the planning in a year. This is done like professional in the end. Too bad Akuma didn't really fight at the end, but with all that makeup, maybe it may fall out if he did. By far the best SF movie I seen so far.
Ryu is Jon Foo
I'm his biggest fan.
If you like to watch them
