Joey had this to say about his project.
This is some huge rip off, this is what i dont like, the japanese work hard to do animes, games etc, then when the americans remake something, they ruin everything.
As a movie, The Legend of ChunLi was not at all that bad. However after you realize that it is based off of Capcom original content, you most likely begin to cry in remorse.
Two clips at roughly thirty seconds each, I believe, is not, enough time to give an opinion that swings one way or the other. So the actors are not as "ripped" to the point they are in the game or as depicted in most visual media. Unless you stroll down a Cali shoreline, I do not think you will find many martial arts actors who are.
I say: give it time and let us see more, as in actual story, before passing down judgement. Compared to other live action SF media, these thirty seconds alone beat everything else all to hell.
Oh no.. not this again.
Eventhubs posted about this retard before, and his "passion project" SF movie. It looked like garbage then, and it still looks like garbage now.
Please stop giving this giving this guy any more attention. Yeah he has a nice camera and pry knows some After Effects. But this movie is going to be AWFUL.

Sorry, but the Legend of Chun-Li WAS as bad as everyone claimed, regardless of it being a video game based movie. With the exception of a couple of actors, the acting was just awful, the fights were poorly choreographed and executed, and the few visual effects (the kikoukens) that were in the movie looked like they were done in the span of 5 minutes by amateurs. It wasn't bad because it was based off Capcom original content, it was bad because it was poorly made.
Anyway, as far as these two trailers go, I'd need to see more before I can tell if its just another failed attempt or if it may actually turn out decent. At the very least, Ryu and Ken look pretty accurate.
looks like its going to be great cant wait for the end product looks like this guy hit it on the button with accuracy so far with the trailers lets pray that the short film is as good
People are not giving this thing enough credit. This guy probably doesn't have access to equipment made to make visuals for movies like Avatar.
I think that if he can get the support he needs, he can make a live action street fighter movie that fans can be proud of seeing.
@#2 you are garbage. Street Fighter the animated movie was great, lots of action, true to storyline, and awesome animations and you call it garbage. STFU noob!
Btw this movie so far beats all realistic SF based movies from just this short trailers. Lets give it chance, huh?
@ #23 You're right about Ken, but in the coment #8 seems like you were satisfied cause Ken looks American...
Ken isn't Japanese cause let's see EVERYTHING BUT THE VIDEO GAMES(and the animation for Super 4) THEMSELVES IS NON-CANON and taking that into account:
Ryu, Ken and almost everyone else in street fighter has no known ethnic background for all we know since Ryu's parents (who have never been shown) could be Italian as Pizza just since he was raised as an orphan in japan he has no reason to doubt he's a Japanese man. Ken could be Norwegian but we don't know since there's no canonized version of his ethnic background
and for all of you saying "when American's make something"
Joey Ansah is British(not American
For those saying "They'll screw it up since they're not martial artist"
Joey is also an acompolished Martial artist who has trained in TKD, Ninjutsu(training with a reknonwed master in the field) and Capoeria, so these guys who are playing Ryu and Ken probably know Martial Arts
Looks like a complete waste of time.
@ #10 - You hit the nail on the head.
Jon Foo is Ryu(He's also playing Jin Kazama in the Tekken Film was in Batman Begins)
Christian Howard is playing Ken doesn't have much of a known back ground(beside modeling) He originally has green eyes but wears contacts(so don't worry no green eyed ken)
Malda wiki I can(and do) edit, I cut down the mess that was Kane and Lynch Dead Men(if you check it out it was about 2 times longer before).
again they don't follow the rule that CAPCOM(the people that make the game) posted on their site around the time of SF4's release that:
All movies, cartoons, anime, comics, manga, or other media adaptions outside the games are considered non-canon. For example the events of SF2: The Animated Movie and SFA: The Animation are non-canon and do not fit with and/or contradict the official Capcom SF storyline. It should also be noted that all the SF animes (and American cartoon) all contradict one another as well, ie they don't fit together.
The VS games (Marvel, SNK, Namco, etc) are also non-canon.
As stated here:
http://www.capcom-unity.com/street_fi...
hate these bunch of looosers on eventhubs crapping over anything b4 they even seen it.. the guy clearly is doing it for the love of sf, and has the connections to do something about it..
people on here are worst the scifi nerds.. stfu already
I'm a fan of CAPCOM, fan of SF.
I look forward and optimistically towards things connected to it.
Here's hoping.
Also Ken's not Japanese. The only time he was ever mentioned as being anything but wholly American was in the incredibly non-canon SFII V anime.
If you're looking for what CAPCOM is laying down as canon, read the UDON comic books.
It's cool that they have the super thick eyebrows like the video game at least. x3
All of you hating need to just shut up. This will be at least the best adaptation of SF on live screen to date. Give it a break, stop being damn nerds and support someone who actually has respect towards the canon of the SF franchise and taking the time to acknowledge something we all love through what he can.
Shiet ... get over youselves -.-
I'm hoping this batman begins the franchise if not batman beings at least batman 89
If you don't know what I mean Batman's Live action movie franchise has been officially rebooted 3 times first there was this horrid movie back in the 40's that is too bad to even remember, then theres the adam west reboot one based off the TV series which featured the shark replant, then of coruse there was Batman 89 which was a reboot and brought more of the gothic edge that the comics had but turned into a more post modern look until the horrid batman and robin("I'll pay with my batcard"). Then there was The Nolans'(John and Chris Nolan) Batman begins which brought it to the modern day very well
So either Legacy will be the Batman 89 bringing more of the feel of the source material(video games) into it or Beings bring a more modern feel into it while not ruining the characters
I personally consider the 90's SF movie equal to the 60's batman and Legend of Chun Li to the 30's movie
@ 25
Yeah that was my bad.. I actually didnt know until you pointed out he was some Japanese. I looked it up and found he was 3/4 Japanese. But as for anything "official" I never found anything . No in game stories or guides (that I know of ) show that Ken actually is Japanese. It also says he dyes his hair blonde @_@ but again nothing official.
Anyone know for sure with official information ?
Street Fighter never struck me as having a "Darker tone". Seems like there is this trend to think that everything that is cool has to be "dark" and also "gritty", because it is serious like a macho sweaty man in a leather jacket who doesn't take any crap. Street Fighter is pulpy insane action, with perhaps a couple moments of emo sprinkled in. Does anybody want to see a "dark" Blanka, Dan, Sakura, Dhalsim? My favorite Street Fighter movie will continue to be "Master of the Flying Guillotine", because clearly it has Dhalsim and Adon in it, a tournament, and its just awesome.
What Joey is doing is noble and worth encouraging. We will see whether it is good or not when it is completed but the SF community is fortunate to have a passionate fan like him.
Keep up the good work!
lol @ people judging it after seeing about 30 seconds of teaser footage.
Wow, so many haters. This stuff is looking badass.. cant wait
@bterry
I want to see a dark gritty Blanka story(He was left in the jungle and looks like a beast I can only imagine the story that could be made out of that) then Dhalsim and Dan have dark stories Dhalsim's is dark in that if he didn't win in SF4 his whole village would die of thrist and Dan's dad was killed and he's out for revenge
@EX_Ein
I can see how their stories can be dark, like you say. I guess personally I'd dig a "Big Trouble in Little China" or "The Princess Bride" style of light, witty atmosphere. Like, in the Princess Bride, the Spaniard is out for revenge after his father was killed and there is some pathos, but it never gets dark.
I wish this didn't look as bad as it does.
