von me too i cant use her in rank she gets sh*tted on lol
I also favor Makoto.. I've been trying to main her and put up with so many losses that I shouldn't. Its such a struggle to get a win. And when I play with another alt I don't even have to try that hard.
@1
Makoto is harder to use, theres no way they will make a vid about her lol. Think about it, how many strat vids did u see for gen or vega vs how many they come out with for freakin ryu.
@12
I thought Makoto was a relatively popular character, especially since she kicked ass in 3rd Strike.
Anyways, that video is awesome. It helped me understand frame advantages and what they mean in the game as well as show me how badass Cody is.
Though I picked Guy to main, I love Cody.
@chickenwings uhh, these guys aren't exactly scrubs and learning any character isn't exactly rocket science so why wouldn't they?
@14
U assumed i called them scrubs? LOL. But seriously, after 2 seconds with cody i figured out low strong was really freakin good, no frame data required. But there are other characters that are more unique, like hakan for example, that has wierd normals and throw ranges. So a tuturial for him would not only make more sense, but would help the community more. And i doubt u can disagree with that.
Bonus Footage was so nice. Bad Spray is such a fun move, but I usually remember to charge EX Zonk instead of this. Maybe I should use my third finger to do this :D
Nice strategy vid, thanks.
Makoto is meant to be a freewheeling character with a lot of options. Concentrate less on landing the Karakusa and more on Hayate and Tsurugi pressure.
While I love Makoto as much as the next person, she was a tad too strong in Third Strike, where you needed only "two guesses". This game she is a bit more fair, so it will be harder to win, but more rewarding when you do.
They can't.
They'd rather complain about Ryu and Sagat, get capcom to nerf them to hell and then find something else to complain about.
Im not doing bad with Mak, maybe i should make a video? lol.
its all about tricks, resets, and karakusa setups. Also, tick (d.lk) karakusa works pretty well against non-dp-spamming players. I'm also using U1&U2 50/50 based on how easy it is to trick specific characters into getting karakusa'd.
IA Tsurugi is also key; as is getting your Fukiage reaction time down. As always, resets, trickery, and big stun is the core of playing Makoto.
Strider,
I don't even main Ryu or Sagat.
But what they have done is gone WAY TO FAR.
I'm fine with the trades being removed, but they need to put back the invincibility frames so that well timed (not mashed) SRK's anti air as intended.
It's not Street Fighter without it, it starting to seriously feel like trailer trash.
@strider
there still really good characters and i dont see there nerfs giving them any bad match ups either. People are just crying to cry. The only real noticeable different with them is that trade ultra is gone and that sagat doesnt win the match with 2 tiger upper cuts.
@#18 (Psycho)
What you state is soo true, I catch so manys scrubs with it since I just back away and wait for them to throw it out.
@#22 (Nyoronoru)
"Concentrate less on landing the Karakusa and more on Hayate and Tsurugi pressure."
1.) You should NOT be landing Hayate on it's own unless you have 2 Super bars to FADC out of it or you're on the last end of your BnB. The only other time you'll be using Hayate is EX version to dupe your opponent that you're distancing yourself from them. With that said Mak is ALL about Karakusa ... You need to get in there with it so you can do everything over safely.
2.) As for Tsurugi, while its a nice option at times, jump in FP works better. Very miniscule damage difference. Jump in FP is safer and has less start up time to get punished. Considering that its not armor breaking, this move at best, is optional from time to time.
I love how its a Cody video tutorial, and most of the conversation is about Makoto. The vid was nice, but in all honest Cody is straight foward, he's my favorite out of the new characters. If anything I agree with #15, having a video on Hakan or Guy would probably benefit the community better. As for Makoto, I just wait for an opening even if I have to turtle with her (I know turtle Makoto is a super idea, but it works), eventually a scrub will mash a DP (I wish it wasn't so good at times) and thats the punish lol
yeah i do good against characters that dont have shoruyken cuz they can just mash em out but agaainst characters that dont i shut them down completely especiialy deejay always get perfects on him when i use makoto and i always use u2 and i use guile cuz makoto gets raped on ranked maatch lol
I am such a sh1tty Makoto player that no practice can't help that... I have trouble utilizing her karakusa, her fukiage is to sensitive for and I end up playing her defensively...
Good thing I have Dan
you know, i appreciate the effort to produce strategey guides, but no one ever learns to play on their own anymore. i used him in alpha 3 and i was pretty good with him, and i was very excited when they said he was in, but i dont like oversaturated-user characters. i dont hate ryu, i just hate seeing him all the time. same for sagat. and i worry for cody, i dont want him to end up like ryu.
i DO hate balrog though! lol that goddamn turtle can link from ANYTHING! cr. lp = half health... idk maybe it was HE who should've gotten looked at, and not ryu. btw while im bitching here lol does anyone have any cody-balrog help? i cant find a hole in his moveset, and cant cross with j.mk, headbutt beats it, and if it dont, cr. hp does lol. idk maybe i just need to be a little more careful against him...
YES finally a new main for me to learn. i mastered all the original characters that were in older sf games and now im about to master cody. thanks to this vid and eventhubs i have a headstart on the n00bs that are learning cody at the same time which is good that all players start at the same place with him in his first sf game (i know he was in final fight but that wasnt really the same)
RedEther your a badass lol, now go make more ryu scrubs rage quit lol
@ AxlRed, I against Balrog I suggest learning how to do some option select jump ins, if not safe jump alot more. Makoto can't really jump in on the majority of the characters, so I would build meter from a safe distance by spamming Tsurugi (lk version), keep in mind Balrog's punches can all be grappled, just watch out for the lp, since he can shutdown makoto the same way he shuts down abel. If anything bait out punches and punish with karakusa, and try to get him in the corner. There he barely has any options on your wake up game (he can only FA back or headbutt), just make sure your out of throwing range. He's my secondary, so I hope this helps fighting against him lol.
Make on for Makoto! She get's owned hardcore by projectile characters that I'm just losing faith in using her at all!
:(
