The Las Vegas Super Street Fighter 4 Majors tournament has ended. There wasn't a lot of great competition, although a few top players showed up.
Awesome that people can play there who touched the game the first time ... at this tournament.
This is more like low tier stream, and sync and quality suck..wheres the HD stream, its nationals!
I like using Abel's second ultra(Breathless), you can hold it to wait for the right timing to see if your opponent make any flaw.
YYeeahhh...can we keep the commentary Street Fighter-related and ditch all the gay/sexual inside-jokes that no one watching the stream cares about?
So many random Ultras I didn't see in my entire count of ~5000 SF4 matches.
There not even talking about the match, they only talk about porn.
Someone explain this Jeremy S thing? I only caught the end of the stream.
#33 I'll explain.
Jeremy S was a random Ken player until his game vs M.Ross where he show amazing sick skills, it was like seeing a tool assisted Ken. He got defeated tough, but people in the stream went crazy for him anyways and start to call him 'Jeremy Sexy', 'Jeremy S-Rank' and etc.
So after his defeat upon the cheater Bison of Vector, people demanded a match between Wong and Jeremy S.
He even say in an interview that he's looking to improve even more his sick Ken.
I appreciate the humor, but talk about the matches at least dude guys.
alot more variety in the characters this time. Very nice. Hopefully it stays that way. Im pretty sure people are at work looking for combos/setups/etc for the rest of the cast. I really wouldnt be surprised to see vega start puting on a show at tournaments(he looks pretty solid now). ANd there was NO reason to drop ryu and sagat, there still very good, so for the people that droped them it says alot about the type of player they are. Its still pretty early but this one is looking pretty solid balance wise, there are a few characters that look kinda on the weak side(hakan) but time will tell.
I missed it :( dose any one have a link for some videos of the event ?
One of the most pathetic excuses for a tournament I've ever seen. There was no point in having commentary because it was 2 guy's that had no charisma and just kept name dropping.
keke Jwong has already played MvC4
keek daigo this, daigo that
Hey guys, thanks for watching the stream. As for everyone hating, thank you very much. Exact reaction we were going for since we just wanted to have fun. People that we intended to make mad got mad or complained on the internet as usual and that puts us at ease.
Some things though, yes, commentary in the form of actually explaining what was going on in the match was very poor, first time this has happened. Honestly, I hate getting on the mic because I KNOW I suck at commentating, I usually leave it to the people that are better. Unfortunately, there was no one better to do it at the tourney. Also, the audio lag issue. I understand that this was a problem and again first time that I have run across this issue. I've used this equip for about 6 months so far and have little to no problems. I believe it was the length of the cords I was using. Next time the equipment will have to be much closer to the setup. Again sorry for that. All in all it seemed that the stream went very well everyone working on it had a great time and so did the people there just listening to commentary etc. Thanks for your views and support.
Also, just an FYI, we're not professional and we're not trying to be. We had some people complain in the beginning with some material that was being discussed and we did tone it down for them. We had people commending our commentary due to the nature that it was funny to listen to and that's what grabbed and held their attention. I mean no one's forcing them to stay. We're doing this just to help the venue. So again, thanks all and hope to see you tomorrow for the 2v2.

@55 If I was your boss or had any authority in managing this stream, you would have been fired. You failed in all due respect as commentators. You barely talked about the game. If you want to talk about that kind of stuff, don't include Street Fighter with it. It's even more embarrassing that you come on Eventhubs to try to justify your conversation.
Believe me, if this was some type of business you were running, you would be fired.
Links to video of this Jeremy S character everyone is raving about?
@56 (Bison)
Dude, the WHOLE POINT is that this is not being done by professionals. These are people that enjoy playing Street Fighter. He just admitted that he knows he isn't good at commentary.
@55
Haters gonna hate, man. But next time try to wrangle up UltraDavid, that guy rocks.
@55
i understand the approach you guys took, it was different. What im saying is, for a "national tournament" i expected a far better quality video and commentary, especially if someone is dropping 2 stacks on a tourney.
i didnt here the commentary but tbh, how hard could it really be? Unless u really dont understand the game i dont see how it could have been that bad but o well. As long as the gameplay was good i dont see the problem.
What is with this community feeling they are owed everything nowadays? It was never like this before... Unless the footage and commentary are sold to the public and are intended to represent a company, there is no obligation to be "professional" in this kind of tournament. Would some of you prefer for there to not have been any commentators? If so, you might as well have just muted your stream and saved yourself some grief.
I would have preferred for there to have been some play-by-play commentary, but there's no way I'm going to hate on these guys like a douchebag just because I didn't get what I expected. With that said, I actually liked some of the nonsense that was mentioned, and the Jeremy stuff was entertaining. If I were them, I wouldn't give a damn about the haters because they went through the trouble of setting things up while nobody else did.
@62
that basicly somes it up right there. There not geting paid to do commentary so if u dont like it stfu and have fun with it or ignore it.
the characters that were added to super sf4 cant really do much to ryu sagat akuma rufus.
dudley is to slow and if your gonna go for a overhead with dudley people will just mash jab
makoto is good but her damage output isnt great and her air axe kick was really messed up by capcom it use to help get past fireballs.her uppercut is worse than it was on 3rd strike
ibuki is the only decent one out of the 3 its a shame dudley and makoto were my favorites :(

They dont call Jeremy godlike for nothing as you can see from second match.
I don't think I have ever seen or heard such a lack of class or intelligence displayed in such a concentrated area.
Also, you don't see the Japanese streams stoop down to such appaling levels with personal insults and disparaging remarks as they are playing and commentating, yet it is still entertaining to watch due to the PLAYER QUALITY AND SKILL.
Anyone associated with these 'events' or encourages this type of behavior (drug use etc.) needs to be looked at a little more closely, especially with Capcom trying to capture a broader audience.
Use the media responsibly or lose the priviledge.
Disgusting.
Heres my take. Why bother with a stream and a 2k tourney if your gonna do that with it. the tourney seemed badly run and the stream itself with desynched with audio I could have watched it if it werent for the huge amounts of deadspace being filled by idiots. So i stopped watching and so did allot of others.
End of the day people were dying to see some pro's use super and see what they did with it. Its a real shame that we never got the chance. You can until your blue in the face try and defend these guys but as far as im concerned they wasted there chance they could have done so much better. I doubt event hubs will be embeding another one of these streams from the creators
I'm a little surprised at the reaction to the commentators. I personally thought it was funny, but yes it could have definitely been more informative. Maybe I expected that going in. This type of language on streams isn't new. Have you watched a Norcal stream? Overall I do agree about them not commentating on the actual match though. We all like jokes, but please keep in in the context of the match.
@74" Completely agree. A lot of the commentary was childish but funny as hell. However, there were loooong stretches where they didn't even acknowledge what was going on screen. It's quite possible to joke and comment at the same time, so I'd like to see that next time.
@72: uh, the east coast commentary is a sh*t ton more informative than this was. Only one guy does the scoops/pringles nonsense; the rest actually know what they're talking about.
@55
"As for everyone hating, thank you very much. Exact reaction we were going for since we just wanted to have fun."
You actually INTENDED to make a poor commentary? Commentary is not about the guys making the commentary, it is about the event you know? If you have no interest in showing and commenting the actual event there is NO reason to make the commentary. Make youtube videos by yourself, but dont rape a tournament by having fun making the audience mad. Stupid child.
@55, The commentary was so bad, that I stopped watching the stream. There is a point where commentary could be bad, but don't hinder the experience, but this commentary was highly distracting and completely took away from it's purpose.
It would have been better if the guys had not said anything as I enjoy the sound effects of the game anyway. Chris Hu on the other hand is really good and I look forward to his comments in more tournaments in the future.
As I was saying before, if you guys goal was to attract audiences, I can guarantee that you guys ran more people away than you drawn. Justin Wong and Mike Ross names alone is what drawn people, and after hearing you guys over the top stuff, many people chose to leave the stream.
If I was your boss, I would know you are hurting my business. I would have to fire you guys and issue an apology to the Street Fighter Community.
I never said criticism isn't allowed. Please show me where I said criticism isn't allowed? I like how you say my "argument" makes no sense but you basically pulled an ad hoc fallacy.
There is no argument lol. What I'm saying is that all of your crying is fruitless because the majority of you guys don't contribute to the scene. You just sit at home and hate behind computer screens.
Thats stupid suggesting people dont contribute cause they dont attend allot of people donate, play or contribute in some way or another.
We are all part of the community at large from the flow charts up to Diago. Yeah we should all be thankful for the streams guy provide but if your gonna provide em advertise em and go to the trouble of putting up cash prizes to attract good players then im gonna invest my time to watch if its ass im gonna tell you though.
Cause i also care about the growing the scene how is getting on the mic and acting like the way you guys did encouraging for any would be tourney attendees? its not is it?
I attended my first live tourney this past week and had an absolute blast at it cause it was well run and the guys all want to grow our countries scene if any of our guys acted like you lot id have been discouraged.
That commentary was bad and you should feel bad.
seriously, I only watched that Jeremy rematch thing linked by #66 and it was terrible. I really don't care about professionalism in SSF4 commentary, but you should try to avoid putting fu--ing animated gifs on the screen while I'm trying to watch people play, to quote christian bale "it's fu--ing distracting."
@Drewby
If someone does something that sucks, people have the right to say that. Even if they couldnt do it better. For example what about you get an operation and lose your eyesight because of the failure of the doctor. You go to court, but the judge says "well could you do it better?" - That is because if you cant do something you just dont do it, and if you do it even when you know you suck, people have every right to complain.
And even if that stupid child would have been able to do a good commentary, he said he did a bad commentary ON PUPRPOSE.
@56
Well guess what, they're not working for a business.
Shut up and deal with it or get out.
@69
Welcome to the Internet.
If you're not satisfied with the quality of anything being provided to you, don't watch it. That's all there is to it. You're the ones who need to learn to grow up and deal with the fact that you're not always going to get what you expect.
hey Strider #48 thats very nice to hear, all those lowlife worms who used to pick sagat for his broken power deserve to be pissed, im glad they wont be able to ruin the game again, and in japan i hope that skill starts getting spread on all the cast, sagat mirror matches were common and boring as hell in japanese tournaments
JamKiske,
I see you are a rookie so let's give you business 101. Someone invest 2k in a tournament. They want a profit in return. This is how business work.
These two idiots hurts the investor of the tournament by causing many people to become offended and cutting the stream.
The investor may have made some money now because of Justin Wong and Mike Ross showing up, but their reputation is tarnished due to these guys who hurt rather than helped the venue.
I see you are clearly staying at home with your mother and have absolutely no understanding about economics. You are better off keeping your mouth shut when grown people are talking.
easy bison that will just start a flame war.
Truth be told i have no idea how that particular tourney was run and how the 2K came about and tbh i dont give a rats ass but as a part of the sf community at large im pissed cause any first timers who watched that stream would have been put off watching more streams or even going to a tourney.
Eventhubs own rep took a bit of a dip as they embedded it and invited the members to the irc and cat has already said how he will need to think hard on whether to support another event or not from the same guys. which will mean less viewers and less of a community ultimately.
Bison: Yes, insulting people is so incredibly mature and shows off just how business knowledgeable you are. Really?
You do bring up a good point about money being put into the tournament, but don't you think the people putting money into the tourney would have had the opportunity to state any sort of dislike they had for the way the stream was going? Has anyone heard any sort of statement from them?
Also... if you're watching a stream and you don't want to hear the commentating because you don't like it, hit the MUTE BUTTON. This is what it was invented for people.
