More SF4 WGC videos of the Masters Finals

WorstGiefEver recorded some good matches from the World Game Cup in France. Even though these are shaky cam clips, the quality isn't too bad.

The first clip starts off with Ryan Hart's Sagat against Daigo Umehara's Ryu and follows up with a very talented Fei Long player by the name of Evans. The last video is the Grand Finals between Eita's Akuma and Alioune's Sagat.

There's a playlist available of the Master Finals and another one of the 2 vs. 2 competition here.

Wow @ Lvl3 FA working on Daigo. Good stuff Ryan!

Posted by Rose on March 9, 2010 at 7:25 a.m. #3

Most of the viewers seemed to be rooting for Fei Long in the second video. It is good to see the enthusiasm of the European community for Street Fighter. After all, I am European myself.

I have to go style my hair; I'll be back in two and a half hours.

Sexily yours,
Rose

Ryan hart was pretty good but I didn't understand the jump-in @ 3.32(probably nerves).
I felt bad for Daigo losing lol, especially with that crowd against him XD.

And Evans' Fei Long is good!
I like the way he played Fei,but Elta finished it painfully.

Posted by toshi on March 9, 2010 at 7:31 a.m. #5

Seems like Ryan usually wins his matches against Daigo, good stuff.

Why was I banned from this tournament? It's not like I'm a top tier character...*looks at Sagat, Ryu, Akuma, Rufus and Balrog* FOOLISHNESS *shakes head*

Posted by Sagat on March 9, 2010 at 8:18 a.m. #15

Look at me, I'm the best! I can beat Daigo!

Good stuff from Ryan Hart <3

Posted by Saikobooru on March 9, 2010 at 8:33 a.m. #16

Eita with that risky play!
I still do prefer Momochi and Tokido however.

Translation of a part of the Ken Bogard's article about the WGC (he was the french commentator)

"What you should remember about this event is that all of our french players made results even against japaneses. All of japaneses have lost one time at least during this competition. Their own opinions were that the general european level is better than the US, and the french level is clearly the top of Europe because all europeans were here and only our french players made impressive results in the tournaments. Alioune (2nd Master Series), LordDVD/Yamazaki93 (2nd 2vs2), Luffy (3rd solo) with a total of 256 players from the whole world."

Sorry for the inaccurate translation.

I would destroy these guys in a lag-free environment.

Posted by LC on March 9, 2010 at 11:41 a.m. #25

@22

it was ok but Daigo wasn't playing his best. He just kept falling into the same patters and the end focus into ultra was a fluek. I saw that coming from a mile away and he could have dashed back or ultra that scrubs ass... i think he just paniced.

Posted by FOOLS on March 9, 2010 at 12:01 p.m. #26

@24
I don't for one second believe that Eita, nor Daigo thought this competition was better than the competition in the US. The Europeans played pretty good, I'll say that, but come on.
Has Eita even played here in the US?

Posted by RodneyT on March 9, 2010 at 12:15 p.m. #27

I'm confused... is this a separate tournament from the main WGC singles tourney? I thought daigo lost to the rose player and then lost to the Fuudo to get second in the singles tourney?

LOL DSP wtf

Posted by ricefarmer on March 9, 2010 at 1:03 p.m. #29

wow these europeans are even more disrespectful then america, they keep taunting him for no reason, even making japanese jokes saying they are ntohing.. when they made the dam game

i dont like these euros, in america people are huge fans of daigo

Posted by WorstGiefEVER on March 9, 2010 at 1:24 p.m. #30

@ricefarmer

we are HUGE fans of the Japanese as well, they set the standard. We had great fun with them in casuals and lots of photos etc. What you need to understand about Europe is we have tons of countries here, in America you are one big country and two coasts. People in europe will primarily root for people from their country because they are flying the flag, they are representing. So they will cheer for their boys (or girls). If Daigo had lots of Japanese with him they would cheer for him.

Nice to see a fei long player for once. In all the previous tournaments it's been all ryu/akuma/sagat

Posted by Umivalkyrion on March 9, 2010 at 2:05 p.m. #32

There were several SF4 tournament at WGC :
- 3 called Master Series (solo tournament) : Wednesday, Thursday and Friday respectively.
- A 2vs2 team tournament : Saturday
- The main event : Sunday a huge solo tournament

There was also a short preview of SSF4 some players had luck to play.
Some comments :

Daigo said : More negative stuns than on SF4 (??)
Fuudo said : Differents specials throws of THawk are not bad
Eita said : Juri is really strong, easily confusing the opponent and he will play on Xbox he loves Juri he called her "Strong Beauty" and think Ibuki is really strong.
Desora said : Makoto doesn't have the same 3.3 combos like Ex Hayate link

Posted by OG on March 9, 2010 at 2:06 p.m. #33

Love it when Sagats lose.

Posted by Kikimaru on March 9, 2010 at 2:13 p.m. #34

LOL @ the butthurt from US commenters.
Face it, it's just the OPINION of these visiting Japanese players that Europe is stronger than US was last time they visited.

nice analysis femzy lol

Posted by Jerm on March 9, 2010 at 2:43 p.m. #36

Such an amateur mistake by Daigo...wow...But still, good match though

Posted by PhinnyCupcakes on March 9, 2010 at 2:59 p.m. #37

wait a second.... 4:10... is that a JURI cosplay? or some pokemon?

Posted by Thunderthighs on March 9, 2010 at 4:34 p.m. #38

Good Fei Long. Poor Daigo, it was him vs the whole crowd being anti him lol. But very silly mistake, not avoiding the FA.
Eita's Akuma has very good offensive play.

Posted by Rose on March 9, 2010 at 4:35 p.m. #39

@14

Seth: "Why was I banned from this tournament? It's not like I'm a top tier character...*looks at Sagat, Ryu, Akuma, Rufus and Balrog* FOOLISHNESS *shakes head*"

It's due to your insufficient level of sexiness.

Posted by juxtapose on March 9, 2010 at 4:46 p.m. #40

That Akuma was pretty reckless. He made a number of risky moves that could have been easily punished. He seems like the kind of player that absolutely wrecks you the first couple times he plays you, but then you learn his patterns and bad habits and he can't keep up.

Daigo for president!

Posted by darksydephil on March 10, 2010 at 11:46 a.m. #48

If I lost in this tournament, I would blame jet lag.

Posted by Awesome_Dhalsim on March 10, 2010 at 6:14 p.m. #49

wow to the first vid... what a choke match.

Ryan hart needs to learn how to block lol (second set, he gets completely destroyed by about five of the same cross over)... and the ending- completely priceless. Daigo fails to avoid a level 3 focus. Boring turtle fireball spam on ryan harts part, and same old same old 4 hit collarbone into crouching fierce into fierce shoryuken from daigo. Bleh... IMO
