Man, I love the way Capcom evened out the number of serious characters with their silly ones. Hakan straight up came on the ENTIRE SSF4 cast in the end, heheheh.

The Akumacopter is stupid because they gave a retarded move to a serious character, but Hakan is awesome. Dan was so likable because he's a total goof. Hakan is a goof AND is totally awesome.

Pause at 1:14 for the first trailer, where Guile is being owned by Hakan's ultra.
This confirms sunglasses as Guile's color 10. As you may or may not know, Capcom said something changes for every character when you select their color 10.
Also, in the second video, at 1:42. Surprise butt sex for Juri ^_^.

I completely agree with you to say that it's a thrill to chat in the same area Daigo's in. Anyways, my main criticism with Hakan is that the oil isn't manipulated for something fire related. Perhaps if Hakan breathed out fire after drenching his opponent in oil would this be amazing. Additionally, one of Hakan's ultras should involve himself splitting into three elemental Pandaran Warriors....

I think this is great. and he is reasonably funny. I mean apparently he's doing something for his daughters. so he has to make it look fun too keep them happy. I thought Zangeif was a bit goofy but this guy's officially the goofiest wrestler. I think its a great change of pace from all the serious characters even though I main Akuma.

Hakan is hilarious and I think he's just about the only character that could bring something different to Super Street Fighter IV. I like characters like Charlie and Sean too but let's face it, they'd add NOTHING new to the game. Elena, maybe. They should've revealed Hakan earlier on and the Street Fighter III characters last, I think there'd've been a lot less complaining.

In the Hakan vs Juri video, they reveal one color for Hakan. His default is black pants, the next half of the video is him with yellow pants. He still keeps his red skin and blue hair, unlike Blanka. Maybe something will change with his color 10. I wonder what his alt costume will be...

Okay now the initial shock is over and the fear has subsided, I think it's actually pretty funny. Actually I'd probablyy lol (except am in the Elab at University), seeing everyone hitting the wall like that and the *boing* sound was actually very funny.
What was also funny was when Hakan actually had sent Hakan into the wall and the fact how everyone had their tongues out etc and Vega had his mask on and thus and looked so Nonchalant. When Vega hit hit the wall it was like those old fashioned pie gag's in which they don't throw the pie at some bum who gets angry, they throw it at a respectable looking guy in a suit. Lol I MIGHT actually try him. I must say well done Capcom, shocking at first upon EXPECTING a more serious fighter but good afterwards.

I LOVE IT. Without a doubt, I'll be playing as Hakan a lot.
In the gameplay vid, you can tell that, after he oils up, he suddenly has a huge backdash. It must make him a lot more mobile, and maybe some of his moves are only possible in oil-mode. It looks like Juri's hit deactivates it.

Guys, why so much venom toward this new character? He is a parody of a Turkish oil wrestler. What's so outrageous about this? Zangief is a parody of a Soviet/Russian wrestler and I don't see the same hateful attitude toward him.
Is it because us older players grew up in the arcade playing the World Warriors and had no qualms playing as a guy who danced with Gorbachev? Did we pass this attitude to the younger generation and hence the lack of outrage? Or is it because Zangief is a long standing character so someone wrestling with bears and worrying about what kind of memorabilia he needs to collect after beating an evil mastermind seems sensible to most of you young guys?
It's a video game guys. A very important video game to the upbringing of many of us who now have wives and kids. We look at it as a respite from the pressures of everyday life. If we can obtain some sort of enjoyment and laughter from Street Fighter, we should all be satisfied.
Enjoy Hakan. Enjoy Street Fighter. Enjoy the lineage that has led to a world wide following where 30 year olds and teenagers alike come together for a good time. It's a game guys and enjoy it for what it is and for it brings.

I think it's olive oil, which is not very flammable, unless ryu can launch fires at 470 kelvin (270 celcius)

So from what I've read, the anti-air ultra Oil Combination is performed by pressing ↓,↓KKK. Word is the longer you hold it (either ↓KKK or just KKK, I'm not sure) the longer he stays on the ground, allowing a quick escape in the case of a miss, or a meatier duration pending unforeseen circumstances (Burning Kick, EX Tatsu, etc.).
Cross your fingers and hope for the ability catch whiffed dragon punch-type moves, or possibly even a short enough startup to throw it out right in the middle of random Tiger Knee.

I'm still trying to come to terms with all this. I keep watching the trailer and simply cannot beleive they would include such a clown in street fighter. I see this trailer and hope I'm having a bad dream but it's all too real unfortunately. Massive FAIL capcom.

I am sorry, NO. I'll sit here and ignore the Hakan hate. Because I like Hakan and I can see where some of these comments are coming from. Street Fighter has never been serious until 3rd Strike, (except for necro)
But the second someone tries to justify the KumaCopter, get the f(_)CK out. His air tatsu supers were never funny in anyway, this new ultra is stupid. I would have been more than happy to get a Messatsu Gou Hadou, or Messatsu Gou Shoryu, or Tenma Gou Raisen, but this Sh!T? KumaCopter? No it's fail. I am not even going to bring up the KKZ because he hasn't learned or mastered the technique, Metsu Shoryuken (ryu) he did that to sagat so it's not SHIN it's Metsu, so the time frame arguments with that are over. Plus he had shin shoryuken in alpha anyway.
But more so, the Misogi would have been nice. (but it's not canon or w.e) Kumacopter has major start up, so an FADC is out of the question, unless this move has insane invincibility frames, or super armor for attack absorption, you might as well use the UltraDemon. I see this ultra as nothing more than a joke, it's like o wow, i got copter'd

This whole 'funny har har' attitude of Capcom's of late that is slowly pervading their character design is disappointing. I'm not just referring to Hakan, but also to the various second Ultras we've got on offer. A distinct cheesiness has found its way into their design ethic. Super has a very different tone to vanilla IV from what we've seen so far and to be honest, its beyond corny - in many respects its just plain lame.
I'm hoping the game itself plays great because obviously that is what matters, but its a shame Super couldn't share the same level of class that IV enjoys - particularly the arcade version.
SFIV has essentially been 'lightened up' by way of an overly cheesy comedic tone, which while a recognised design approach, isn't particularly fitting with the Street Fighter universe. At least not to me. And, evidently many others.

Hakan is, by far, the most original character in SSF4. I mean, is there any other Turkish oil wrestler in fighting games? NO! WHY? Because only Capcom can make a weird and creepy wrestler style looks so f**king awesome and make it work in a fighting game.

Well done, Capcom. When Hakan was rumored way back and described as an Arabic oil-wrestler, I was expecting a ho-hum design akin to Darun Mister from the horrific EX series. An unusual design, but I credit the originality of it. Looks like we needed another inexplicably inhuman being in the current roster.
However, perhaps his Ultras are a little too comical. Maybe it is because I'm into shock comedy rather than childish slapstick antics. Then again, Hakan's Ultras are not nearly as cringe-inducing as Akuma's Demon Armaeggeddon a.k.a. TazAkuma ROFLcopter.

Hakan looks crazy, He got that badass intro pose at the end,after he takes a shower from a bucket of beer.One of his Super Combos looks incredible,the part where he repeatedly slide tornado horizontal spin crashing both side of the wall while grabbing his opponent. Both of his ultras looks fantastic too, I think he's the best new character ever created!!!!!

I do not understand why you all are taking the Turkish Tornado as a joke. Yeah he may be covered from head to toe in fine oils (including El Fuerte's patented Super Dynamic Cooking Oil, which he stole), but don't let that fool you. He is as serious as they come. Once you get caught in that Oil Combination Hold, it is lights out for El Fuerte.

Best trailer yet by a great deal. I loved seeing 3rd strike, but this was just plain entertaining. I'm also gonna love watching the comments about how gross Hakan is. I'm sorry but this outlandish character is doing outlandish things that are funny. This kind of stuff happens in Street Fighter. The best thing about Hakan already is showing how uncomfortable some dudes get when a married man (to a woman) with children does a goofy version of a respected fighting style to a 3D model. It is amazing how upset people are getting already. I bet these are the same people who spoke up for Mass Effct when it recieved negative media attention for the sex scenes (with no major exposure). Nobody you know is being violated by the same goofy stuff we used to see in old cartoons.
I for one welcome this amusing character, but not as a joke character but a funny character. Dan is a joke character because he acts like he is great, but is really a pathetic knock off (kind of like some of the posters here. Oh snap), and overall he is really just not a good character as part of the joke. Hakan could end up being a good character that does funny things. Like Faust or Zappa in Guilty Gear. They aren't considered joke characters. So unless you are currently playing the final build at top level play (not even the pros are doing that yet)lets keep the hate controlled.

Even though I know what you mean did you notice Guile spins his body for his normal flash kick, super, and ultra? Also the much requested sonic hurricane is a big spinning energy attack.
To be fair I've never been a fan of JerseyFame's infamous complaining at a news site. I really wouldn't mind if he directed all of his crazy notes into letters to capcom, but it gets kind of old seeing it in places it will never make a difference. Kind of like your quality of play will never get better if you put your energy into asking to make your character better. You can make yourself better and try to be like the other "low tier heroes". If only I had an example. Like a rose player who did a great job against a really great Ryu player in recent history. Well you can't have everything.
I never seem to recall people complaining about this kind of stuff in past games (trust me if you look you will find a lot of spinning in old SF games)

I am from Turkey and as a Turkish, I would like to inform you about Hakan.
He is not an Arabic, adversely he is a Turkish fighter.
In turkish language "HAKAN" means "The Emperor or The Concerior"
Hakan is a Turkish fighter who is created based on traditional "kirkpinar wrestlers" (you can check on youtube).
In this traditional wrestling game, fighters put oil on their bodies and fight starts.

Turkish oil wrestling is an established fighting style but this hakan guy makes a mockery of it.
I mean his moves include squeezing people till the slip out of his grasp and sliding and squeezing people all over his body till they slip out of his arms, are those even attack?

This kind of characters are good for relaxing in a fighting game with a lot of tension and rage in the air. As far as I've seen, he's a very mobile grappler with a unique oil up move, seems pretty competitive and not a second dan.
2nd ultra looks ridiculous at first, but it seemed funny (and not that gay) after watching it a few times, not to mention it seems a very decent anti air.
His costume and model looks pretty good, except for his hair. It cannot be a cap, Since it connects with a blue moustache, but what kind of hairstyle is that?. He has an appealing image regardless.
I personally don't like grapplers, but I think I will give this one a try :)

Wow...I still can't believe it. I have been playing this game since my childhood and I recall I made jokes like "what if there was a Turkish character on SF". It came true in strange fashion.Hakan (not pronounced like Swedish name Haa-kon or something like that) is pretty decent character for sure, but I hope it's some sort of a blue cap he wore on his head..if it's his hair it looks...awkward. Yet, judging by his acts and his obsession with oil, this guy is way way too hilarious! :))
I have this feeling that he won't make it to top tier like Gief, but assuming he's slightly faster than him,not like Abel or Alex though, this would cover his handicap.His slide seems it can be used effectively.
Oh yeah, one more thing.HE'S NOT AN ARAB! I've seen so many things that he was mentioned as an "Arabic Grappler". That's a total bullsh*t and it just reveals some peeps' ignorance and biased thoughts.

Real talk though, not to be negative but we must be brutally honest for a sec. When you raised up playing SF and see the transition from what it was to where its at. You can clearly say SF aint like it use to be. It doesn't take a rocket science to see that. If you have been a faithful follower since the beginning playing in arcades, tourneys, and on the console. You can clearly see that its not the same like it use to be. Change is good but to much can leave fans happy or leave them disappointed. We all have heard that saying that says "If it aint broke don't fix" well this one of them times on some of the things Capcom has been doing on the game. By no means this doesn't mean the game won't be good and roster as well but honestly some of the things they doing with the game as far as buffs, nerfs, balance, gameplay and roster how has it been for you? I have read more complaints than good comments and more of what fans want versus what they get. Alot of surprises and super suspension that are really surprising disappointments. It seems like they change the team up who use to make SF and the gameplay feels different. Not different as in bad but different as in "ok that was a nice addition" and "ok what the hell were 'they thinking" and "really! you really wanna do that!" Im noticing alot of comical, cartoonish attributes being added to the game. This makes me believe that they are trying to draw in a different audience. We really don't wanna judge a book by its cover but Capcom making it hard not to do that with this SSF4 update. Not complaining just stating facts, am I wrong? You can look back at the old games from SF to SF2 etc. etc. and notice the difference. They took some things out that should have been kept and kept some things that they could have taken. Some characters where better in the old games and now some characters seem like a former shadow of themselves. That's why people are writing all these comments most of them disappointments because they don't want this game to end up being something other than SF. (read next post)

SF don't need the wheel reinvented its just needs to be tweaked. I'm afraid to ask for anything else for the game because hell I might get barney or spongebob next. The new guy Hakan not my style and he diffenently don't fit SF. He more for the new people who just started playing SF4 and don't know SF terminology. I can't knockem till I try him and then I can see for myself whats all this mystery over this baby oil wearing, Edd, Ed and Eddy shower cap wearing turkish guy. If the game aint balance then more complaints and demands will be posted on how good it is or how horrible the game is. Capcom just need to make the game how the fans like it then that way you can ensure a victory every time. They just need a suggestion box for changes, character design, new moves, what should be in the game and what should not be in the game and what should be taken from old games and use them - and use the ideas. There not going to be able to please everybody but still it would be more beneficial for them. 1 million plus heads is better than how many heads are at Capcom. Don't try to do to much on the game keep it simple and to the point. Simplicity is always a good thing. Write back and let me know what ya think once again this aint no complaint is more of a tighten up and think before we leap type thing. Overall the game will still be decent and playable. It better be more balanced. Unless I will just skip over the dumb characters and they will just collect dust on the character select screen because I am left with no option but to do so.

According to Ono, Hakan was designed to be in the same vein as Dalsim and Blanka, which going back to the roots of the first POPULAR Street fighter (SFII) made up 1/4th of the original playable cast.
I think Hakan fits SFII's roots perfectly.

@ Blanks, how does Hakan fit in? The cast for SFII was not gay oil moves with 69 ultras or anything resembling. SFII too got a 10 out of 10 for a reason back then. I can assure you it wasn't because of people like the turkish oil guy. Just play the old SFII and see then look at this new update and tell me where he fits in. We did not have cartoonish looney tune guys back then. The transition of audience has change and it seems to be about making money more so. If they would have showed us Hakan before they put him in the game and ask us our opinion what do you think we would have said? :D
