Street Fighter 4 2 vs. 2 Tournament
1. Daigo (Ryu) / Eita (Akuma)

That's what you take for not playing in consoles! Daigo must be prepared for situations like this, the Rose player made it to the top three cause he was using Ryu I think (sad reality)

Teah, Luffy is one of the best french players, his Rose is fantastic and he has beaten Daigo in the tournament and Fuudo in freeplay.

Evans is one of the best french Fei Long (with Starnab), I'm happy for him.

And Renegad has beaten Fuudo in the tag tournament. He is the best french Boxer, the match is awesome, the video is on the net.

The japenese guy are impressive, there is a beautiful victory of Daigo on Luffy.
Watch the video if it's on the net.

Posted by Hooray for Lower tiers :P. on March 7, 2010 at 3:23 p.m. #17

Yeah I'm also interested in seeing Luffy086's matches.
And interested in Evans, who used Fei Long (my main).

Posted by AlPo on March 7, 2010 at 3:23 p.m. #18

Evans has a nice Fei. Fuudo is from Japan. Isn't Daigo going to EVO anyway. I'm glad to see another Japanese player get a chance to attend EVO. WHO GOT THE LUFFY VID?!

Posted by Justin Theass on March 7, 2010 at 3:25 p.m. #19

Take a lesson Justin Wong, the only character good enough to beat daigo is another Ryu.

Posted by Woah on March 7, 2010 at 3:27 p.m. #20

Holy CRAP, daigo got beat by a rose? What is going ON?

Posted by @ALpo on March 7, 2010 at 3:29 p.m. #22

@#18

Wait Fuudo is from Japan? So that means the best that Europe has to offer is a rose player that plays second fiddle to the only two Japanese players that attended.

I can't picture Rose making it the far in a tourney. What's going on here? Was there a lack of Sagat's and Gief's in the tourney or something.

Posted by @22 <- the insecure American on March 7, 2010 at 3:42 p.m. #26

The best that France has to offer yeah (Europe =/= France :P).

Daigo won Evo,so,in your words: the best that the US has to offer is a Rufus/Balrog player that plays second fiddle to the only Japanese player that attended.

See? not that hard to sound like a douchebag.

But I'm more amazed at a Rose player being 3rd place, gratz.

Posted by Iroh on March 7, 2010 at 3:42 p.m. #27

I shaked daigo's hands ^^ i was just in front of the players when luffy's kicks daigo's ass. but for the rematch when daigo knew the match-up well he had punished every move of luffy's rose.
very good tournament with good europeans players and the japanese section :-)

To anyone who has NOT played Luffy, believe the hype. He's a great player. I place him above Saqs as the best Rose in the world, but its tough to judge, and I'm quite biased.

Again, play luffy if you want, talk all the smack you want...you'll probably lose.

Concerning the 2vs2, Team Fuudo/Desora has been beaten by team Renegade/Evans : Renegade (boxer, the same who is butchered by Eita in the previous video) beat Fuudo, and Evans (Fei Long) literally destroyed Desora (Gouken).
Daigo/Eita won against Luffy/Jin to reach the finals (2-0). Eita beat Jin (Ryu) and Daigo beat Luffy (Rose) in a close game.
Daigo/Eita won the finals against LordDVD/Yamazaki (2-1). LordDVD (Honda) beat Eita, then Daigo won successively against Yamazaki (Ryu) and LordDVD to claim victory in this 2vs2.

Concerning the Master Series, which gathered the finalists of wednesday and thursday events and the semi-finalists of friday event, Ryan Harts (Sagat) beat Daigo, and Alioune (Sagat) beat Fuudo in quarters, Alioune then beat Ryan Harts in semi, and finaly lost to Eita in final.

Concerning the solo event, Fuudo and Luffy sent Eita and Daigo to the looser brackets, where Daigo beat Eita. Fuudo then beat Luffy, who was beaten by Daigo in looser brackets finals. Finally, Fuudo managed to overcome Daigo in the finals.

Note that, during freeplay games, Renegade beat Daigo, Luffy beasted Fuudo, Alioune won against Fuudo 2-1 and lost to Eita (0-2) and Daigo (0-2 and 1-2). Japanese proved during this event they're the best, still Euro players managed to display a good overall performance against them. Hope will see good quality videos soon, because the coverage of this event, the biggest ever in Europe for the versus fighting scene, was pure sh*t (people are quite angry here), because of the total blackout imposed by the main sponsor who invited the Japanese players and wanted to keep the exclusive rights for videos and pics.

Oh yeah, Daigo, Eita and Fuudo tested SSF4 (not the final release, no Hakan there), and for those who are interested in this, Eita managed to land Gouki's Ultra 2 during a Demon Slide.

Rose is really underestimated, I hope Daigo and japanese players have learnt some bit about console characters and give some impressions to Capcom, since Fuudo has totally overlooked about Rose's capacities (he had written a guide on console characters, though luffy said he clearly didn't know a bit about Rose).

BTW, I'm the one who gave the information of fonkimasta's channel and who posted results, though Krabe gave his thoughts as soon as he could since he was there.

There was two Japanese players that went to EVO and they placed 1st and 9th (with daigo being 1st). A least some americans can beat another Japanese player even if it isn't Daigo. Europe on the other hand was totally free to all Japanese players.

And yes, the overall point was everybody plays second fiddle to Japan, cause I from Japan you insecure european.

Could you guys drop the nationalism BS? It's not "Japan versus France" or whatever, it's just individuals playing. I don't see the point of saying that one country is better than another based on outcomes of games between individual players. It leads to soccer hooliganism-like crap.

Posted by Eile on March 7, 2010 at 5:40 p.m. #63

We know Japanese is better at SF4. They just take the Euro fight money. If they also send all those guys at godsgarden, i don't see Fuudo is winning it.

Now I want to see Euro vs Americans without Justin wong. Justin Wong probably rape them.

Posted by mezzedupdream on March 7, 2010 at 5:46 p.m. #64

So well be seeing Fuudo and Eita at evo? I'm sure Daigo will still be there.

Posted by Ffs on March 7, 2010 at 5:46 p.m. #65

That ryu v ryu match was very annoying. Non stop Hadoken spamming, makes you wish there was a parry system in sf4. I never played 3s but at least I know that the parry system made people deter from such disgusting gameplay.

and well... rufus, and blankas and some sagats.

All these "skill > tier" comments are just as bad as the "Sagat is OP" comments. Sense & sensibility is dead.

Being top tier is useless if no one plays you.

If you look at the result of Gods Garden 2 though, it does look like the top Akuma players have surpassed the top Sagat players. IMHO, Akuma is the real top tier.

I've heard from several people who attended the event that the japanese players deliberately lost certain matches and were planning to split the prize money. The final matches between Daigo and Fuudo were apparently mostly for show with the players taking turns winning rounds.

Posted by You don't know Ryu on March 7, 2010 at 6:56 p.m. #86

What are you talking about. Just check out Godsgarden 2... how many Ryu placed in top 10? Ryu is solid, couse' Valle and Daigo plays him on an extremely high level. You can't do sh!t with an average Ryu. Look at any random tourney streams... all the Ryus are bleeding out, couse' they got moped up by random players. Ryu takes skill... just deal with it.

Posted by chickenwings on March 7, 2010 at 7:01 p.m. #87

LOL if ryu takes skill then what does it take to play with characters like abel guile or bison? A doctrine? Ryu is right up there with sagat, stop lieing to urself. Look at his moves, combos and setups. What does it really take? But before u answer this why is he SO much better then ken? Ken has basicly the same crap so how come he never wins?

Posted by xnj on March 7, 2010 at 7:11 p.m. #88

Daigo lost because he was coming from the losers bracket. Even though Daigo won the first set, he lost the 2nd set with 3-2. It was still pretty close though.

if you have no skill, you will not win with Ryu.
Most of his matchups are 5-5. You have to out play other people to win with Ryu. The good thing about Ryu is he has no bad matchup.

In unrelated news, we finally identified one of the xbl players that raped mago at gods garden 2.

Here are some more notes about the event:
※ Mago faced off against Ryukichikun, the 13 year old Ryu player that I posted about a month ago, in an online match. It was the first match Mago played online at the event, and he lost to the kid. The entire venue blew up when Mago lost, and he got a lot of smack talk from Kokujin afterwards.

Apparently this 13 year old kid is the next big thing in sf4. Kid's usually an arcade player though.

To cut short all these "Amercia/EU rulz Eu/America sucks", Daigo has been interviewed about it yesterday ... He said the level was pretty much equivalent except for one player far better than all the rest on each side (J.Wong and Alioune [best French/European Sagat]). The other japanese felt the same apparently.

Yes, he got bested by a Rose then the next time he faced her he destroyed her eliminating her from the competition.

You people need to go to school or something. The dumb is mind numbing.

He's certainly not unbeatable but any single loss get's touted as the most amazing thing in a world. Why do you think that is? Idiots.

I know Diago is an amazing player, but I absolutely hate Ryu. He's boring, the most boring of the shotos, and ppl always play him on-line. It's like saying that vanilla ice cream is the greatest flavor. I might actually like watching Diago if he EVER played SF4 as anyone else. But he doesn't. So, I'll always root against him, unless maybe it's against another Ryu.

I was hoping DSP would go to this tournament, I think he could of won but DSP said he was having too much fun with Heavy Rain, a PS3 exclusive.

In Heavy Rain, a girl chainsaws a guy in the dick.

daigo lost to a console character big deal. he prob hasnt played against a rose before. after his lose, he knew how to beat rose the second time. fuudo surprised me though. his style is a bit awkward but i guess it worked on daigo. gratz to him. i luv how elita used ryu for fun in 2v2 that kinda disrepects other players though when you dont use your main but haha good job

@ ShenronDragonBallZ DSP is not a pro SF4 player and would get mauled in any serious tournament. I heard WonderWaffle407 was at this one so DSP would just get DOUBLE PERFECT'd again and blame LAG in an offline match lol anyway f*ck DSP, the no life loser who's life is going to work then home to play games so he can upload to youtube lol 7000 uploads on youtube is the definition of no life

congrats to the french community for this.

the fact that 4 of the greatest players attended the wcg tournament is extremely impressive.

it also shows that the french / europe players can definately hold their own against the best in the world.

it's a shame more of the so called greats from the usa didnt show up. xenophobia perhaps?

MJ,

And that is why the usa community repeatedly fails to win.
It needs to be more inclusive.
And it needs to realise it is not number 1, nowhere near it.

Posted by lol on March 8, 2010 at 12:01 a.m. #131

US players don't care about EU players.

As far as i can see Jp players won all 3 SF4 events over there.

Posted by @ 130 <- on March 8, 2010 at 12:03 a.m. #132

What's with the chauvinistic Amercians on this site?

''it's a shame more of the so called greats from the usa didnt show up. xenophobia perhaps?''

- 1) Like the fact that there are no(or almost none)European players are EVO?
- 2) Pretty sure noone in France really cares.

But I can ask you the same question.
-It's a shame more of the so called greats from Japan didnt show up at EVO. xenophobia perhaps?

Everytime something European gets posted, some Amercian must post crap against Europe like some jealous child, insecure much?

O btw it's DEFINITELY and not ''definately''.
Seriously,if you're so PRO-USA then atleast master your own language.

Japanese didn't even send all their best players there. think what would happen if they send all those Gods Garden players there also? I bet the winner would be different.

Same could be said if Japan would've sent their best to EVO.
So what's your point?

man, listen to you guys "the japanese did this" "the french did that"

it's not a war, you spazzes

"japan" didn't do anything, a player did

each man fights alone in the video game to win for himself

there's a lot of street fighter players in japan because they have a lot of video game nerds and it came out first in the arcades there so they've been playing it longer. simple as that

Justin Wong was invited but he wanted to his ticket be payed for free and the organizers refused so...
It's too bad he missed a such great event.

Posted by mo on March 8, 2010 at 2:33 a.m. #148

Fuudo is JAP he's fairly good seen him play daigo a few times but this was about 8 months ago seems like fuudo is getting better have yet to see the final between him and daigo

Saw the 2 on 2 games watched daigo fight the rose player very good fight. rose kept playing fireball games with daigo reflecting his fireballs and send out ex fireballs caught daigo a few times the rose player played very well but daigo kept his cool and took it 2 rounds straight last round was real nice both players had no life left daigo had super meter and rose was tryna chip daigo down daigo would not use an ex fireball for chip instead he waited and then cross up air hurricane kick then linked with super to finish was pretty sick!

saw daigo after the tourney and he seemed happy with 2nd and fuudo with 1st he said the tounry was real good with strong players he was just happy to be there

Posted by eMRaistlin on March 8, 2010 at 2:37 a.m. #149

@#49 : Dan is nowhere the same level as Fuu~ : Fuu~would probbly get a better ranking then 9th, but it doesn't really matter, is it ?

@#52 : Luffy's got an xBox because Europe top players (From Spain to Norway, Uk to Ita, etc)
PSN users on SF4 are mainly Japanese

Yet, there are great players on Europe PSN, don't get me wrong. But most best PSN euro switched to xBox to train with Alioune / zak / Ryan and people like that

@#125 (and other people really thinking they don't play the console chars) :
Japan is the country where Fighting Games and home Fighting Games systems were born and raised.
Do you really genuily believe Diago and others didn't train the matchup at all ? You are very mistaken.

As said Saunic, Fuu~ even wrote a book about console chars. They just didn't get how Rose was to be played. And on top of that, Luffy is just not the random Rose player.

That said, Daigo's victory ratio is not 100% : like every one, he just happen to loose, here and there. Daigo is clearly stronger than Luffy086, but you should NOT think Luffy86 got is victory only out of sheer surprise effect, because he beat Fuu~ also, and they then worked the Rose matchup a lot to learn the new tricks they saw (once again, they really didn't think rose was to be played like that. The same way Japanese Boxers are so different from US Boxers).

@#75 & #87 : Yeah, the main sponsor gave money for the event in exchange for exclusivity. French ppl, as you despise them, were mad about that too.
But business is business, in France as in USA...

Posted by hu on March 8, 2010 at 2:54 a.m. #150

Erm? When did daigo lose to a rose? I know he lost to luffy BUT that was when he was using akuma.

Daigo didn't use Akuma

Posted by Here on March 8, 2010 at 3:34 a.m. #153

Fuu~ is Ryu, not Akuma.

Eita is Akuma, not Ryu.

If the facts are so wrong, I believe Luffy is a Ryu player as well. Rose is EH's imagination.

Posted by wowzers on March 8, 2010 at 3:35 a.m. #154

Hold up I noticed some confusion. Fuudo is not European he is Japanese. Are some of you people stupid?

Posted by @152 on March 8, 2010 at 3:36 a.m. #155

->"Justin Wong was invited but he wanted to his ticket be payed for free and the organizers refused so..."

He also ask for a different "young boy" each night.
That's why the organizers refused

No one ? LOL.
Stick your eyes out of your -XXXX- and don't think you're the center of the world.

You know, across the sea, there is Europe.

In Europe, many SF4 great players.

Tsss... what a shame. "no one".

Posted by @ 158 on March 8, 2010 at 1:13 p.m. #174

WHAT? lol post 174 is correct. Ryan Hart aint a no one. He is one of the top players in the UK, he beat Justin Wong in 3S and Parried him just like Daigo did (You should know the famous Ken vs Chun-li parry im talking about) and he beat Daigo in 3s and in SF4 before. As for the Rose player, I personally didn't know him but lots of people knew who he was.

One more thing, lets be more open minded here. If you never heard of someone doesn't mean their crap because fact is you have never seen them play. Why would a country put him of all people into a team to rep the country. Did you ever consider that?
