Mueti has come through with a translation of a recent Japanese Super Street Fighter 4 blog posting which discusses how Makoto plays in the new title.#20: About Makoto
It's gotten quite warm lately. Seems like soon we're going to have to watch out for hay fever too, eh.
Good day everyone. This is Tsukamoto.
I'd like to continue the introduction of the 3rd Strike characters we began last week.
This time we're going to talk to the Okada, the director and the 'battle-planner', Tamamura about Makoto.
Please tell us about the reasoning for including Makoto.
Okada:
Although Makoto was only introduced in Third Strike, her unique fighting style made her an interesting character that had quite a following. Even in tournaments there wasn't a shortage of Makoto players. When we decided on how many characters from 3rd Strike we wanted to include in Super Street Fighter 4 that played into the decision.
How did the development team react when it was decided that Makoto was going to be included?
Okada:
She was quite popular in the development department as well, so they welcomed the decision. Third Strike was a game the team originally played a lot anway, they played both the console as well as the arcade version endlessly.
Oh, for research purposes, of course!
Even then there were quite a few people on the staff who used Makoto so we thought about how things would turn out if we she were to be included in Super Street Fighter 4 even before we made the decision. The programmers also already thought of things they'd have to add for her to work properly at that time.

So Makoto vs Akuma would be a good match huh? It seems they gave back her strength from 3rd strike, cool. I would love to see Makoto destroy charge characters.
Posted by Jaf on March 2, 2010 at 12:59 p.m. #16
So the matchup will be more in Akuma's favor because fireballs are a viable tool in Super than in 3rd Strike

Makoto sucks. they are so deep in her a$$ that they hardly focus on enyone else. besides, sf already has enough characters that look like ryu. one more is not wanted. and yes, her feet are too big

she is a good addition to the roster, but her game style does suck indeed
Posted by @ #10 on March 2, 2010 at 1:03 p.m. #20
Here's my question--Juri's feet are just as big because she focuses on kicks. Does that mean if Chun-Li were to fight barefoot, her feet would be just as big?
I know it's a style choice, but when you step back and look at it, it's a little confusing. Like if Gouken were to ever put on a pair of boots, would they be super huge to go around his foot model or would they "cheat" and shrink it down to look normal?
Posted by baz on March 2, 2010 at 1:06 p.m. #21

I heart Makoto!
Posted by @21 on March 2, 2010 at 1:06 p.m. #23
It's very simple: barefoot characters have big feet.
So yes, if Gouken were to wear boots his feet would shrink, most probably making the boot the exact same size as his feet.

What's the point of two different ultras if they connect the same way?
Posted by Hmm... on March 2, 2010 at 1:10 p.m. #25
From how they described Makoto's playstyle:
-vs Abel will probably be an interesting battle of who gets the momentum first...it'll probably roll in her favor.
-vs Seth will be ridiculously hard, both in getting in and dealing with his pressure.
-vs Fuerte, I can imagine that being in Makoto's favor. His closeup game is ass...

Stop complaining about useless things like aesthetics. She may look like Ryu, but she is actually more similar to a martial artist than he is. They have NOTHING in common play wise. Aggressive characters is just what this game needs to change it from the turtlefest it is. So STFU!
Posted by bob on March 2, 2010 at 1:25 p.m. #29
Mokoto gets the power boost and she can block? she should at least take guard damage on normal attacks like punches and kicks
Posted by Blazingsoldier2002 on March 2, 2010 at 1:27 p.m. #30
I'm definitely more of an aggressive rushdown type. I'm going to be using Ibuki, Guy, and Fei Long. I love that they are adding more offensive characters to stop the turtling madness.

I would not count out Abel yet as his Tornado Throw has throw immunity which could screw with her kara game. It will be in interesting match-up to say the least.
Posted by Good on March 2, 2010 at 1:51 p.m. #39
I like the fact that scrubs and noons won't be able to pic her up and use easily. I never played 3s but I want to learn makoto and be a good makoto player.
It's gonna be so funny. Scrubs will try n use her but then realise how difficult she is to use and drop her.

Thinking about it, I guess "southerner" might be a better description. I'm not from the US, but I believe "redneck" has a stronger, worse connotation for you.
Posted by @43 on March 2, 2010 at 2:03 p.m. #46
Yes, it is a form of country dialect, so in America we would probably equate it with a Southern accent.
I would assume it carries the same kind of assumptions with it, about down-home values and simpler times. Heck, Makoto's alt costume is a farmer's outfit, apparently.

Unfortunately, in SFIV, the best characters are ones that can throw a lot of fireballs very fast.
Posted by werewolfgold on March 2, 2010 at 2:34 p.m. #53
I don't know...
It just seems like Tanden Renki would fit more as an Ultra with the Abare Tosanami as the Super. As of now, she's the only character in the game with a super that does nothing on its own. I thought most of the fun with Supers was being able to combo into them...
Juri and Rose also have power-up ultras, and I just think it would make more sense...
But, whatever. It's not like it's going to change at this point...
Posted by Blazingsoldier2002 @55 on March 2, 2010 at 2:43 p.m. #54
Don't you ever get tired of making a fool of yourself? Makoto will have a hard time with Hadouken spam, sure, but you're done once she gets in, and spam only works so long. You'll have an easier time with Makoto than Ibuki though.

Posted by Satsui No Hado on March 2, 2010 at 2:55 p.m. #57
Well Makoto vs Akuma will be a interesting match up BUT Akuma will beat her cause not only can he match up offensively(actually Akuma has more offensive ways to beat you) but also Akuma can zoned her out easily. What I wanna know is how well is Akuma's vortex will be against Makoto.
Posted by Satsui No Hado on March 2, 2010 at 2:58 p.m. #58
@ Blazinsoldier2002
Well your wrong especially when it comes to Akuma cause he can simply get out of the way with his ashura zenkku and now since you can use Akuma's U2 with his teleport(ashura zenkku) it is gonna be way easier get away and if you pursue Akuma you will get caught by his U2.
Posted by @Satsui no Hado on March 2, 2010 at 3:06 p.m. #59
Wait, so now you don't hate Akuma's Ultra 2 anymore?
Posted by Blazingsoldier2002 @61 on March 2, 2010 at 3:09 p.m. #60
I was responding to the guy named Ryu, because he believes that Ryu will easily destroy any and all SF3 cast members. Akuma, and other characters, are another story and have different matchups.
Posted by Ryu (The Greatest Ever) on March 2, 2010 at 3:09 p.m. #61
Blazingsoldier2002 / #57,
There will be absolutely zero chance of undesirable rednecks breaking through this defence.
Makoto will share the same fate as everyone else who has dared to oppose the metsu shoryuken.
Posted by Blazingsoldier2002 @64 on March 2, 2010 at 3:16 p.m. #62
You mean the one you haven't gotten the chance to use ever? That one? The one you know nothing about and assume it will be god-like, when it can be blocked and punish like most any other Ultra?
Makoto will have a harder time than my Ibuki will, but you're still going to be taken out by both. Ibuki can navigate your Hadouken spam all day, and your wake-up Metsu Shoryuken will be blocked. Then when you come down, you'll be eating some moves from Ibuki. You don't stand nearly as much of a chance as you think you do. You must just only face Ken scrubs online and assume that Ryu will always win. You probably didn't even play SF3, you just heard "Hadouken spam is gone" and boycotted the game.

why makoto. we already have a preppy lookin dorky girl like sakura. their voices are practically the same, their attitudes too. jumping into a fight without thinking about it. we dont fuking need another sakura. and makotos style and character does in no way keep the feel of street fighter. 3S characters should not have been in the game. Alpha, hell yes but 3S is too new to have the classic street fighter feel. not only that but makoto, ibuki, and dudley all suck. and fuk you if you give me an attitude about my point. fair discussion i'll accept but FUK you if you come at me the wrong way
Posted by Blazingsoldier2002 @66 on March 2, 2010 at 3:21 p.m. #67
I don't foresee Ryu being a problem at all. Most online Ryus just spam Hadouken, and Ibuki destroys that kind of player. And I can actually use Ibuki well in SF3, so, transferring that to SSF4, the crappy Ryus won't stand a chance.
Ok, look, I currently main Fei Long. FEI. LONG. And Ryu's not much of a threat to me. Ibuki will only have it easier.
Posted by Blazingsoldier2002 @69 (lol) on March 2, 2010 at 3:31 p.m. #68
You're wrong on many points.
For one thing, Makoto is a country girl, not preppy at all. She's blunt and has a "kick ass now, ask questions never" attitude. Sakura is preppy and ditsy and has a crush on Ryu, whereas Makoto just fights to gain fame for her dojo and to prove herself as a fighter.
Makoto's style isn't supposed to keep rehashing the SF2 cast with minor differences, she's SUPPOSED to be something completely new and unique all her own. She's a powerhouse, close combat character.
As for SF3 being "too new to have that classic feel", I think I speak for most SF3 fans when I say I enjoyed SF3 because it was a departure from the stagnant SF2 formula. It wasn't about hiding back and spamming fireballs, it was about unique, technical, interesting combat.
Ibuki, Dudley, and Makoto don't suck in the least either. Makoto is a close range, rushdown, powerhouse. I love those kind of characters, and having more offensive characters in this game is good.
Dudley is fast and has a lot of combos, and has a little bit of mindgame work as well. He can get in quick, get his hits in, interrupt you, and get out.
And Ibuki (best of the 3 imo) is more mobility based, but she has the versatility to do many roles. She can destroy shoto scrubs with ease, as she has many moves that dodge projectiles completely. She's more about getting in fast and doing your damage, then staying on top of you. Makoto and Ibuki are similar in that they specialize in close range and are meant for locking down the opponent, but Makoto does this with more damage, whereas Ibuki does this with more options.

@ 67
Did you say most pro's don't play Akuma perfectly? Wow Also you don't have to play Akuma perfectly to beat Makoto...see Makot has problems against any character that zones. Hell you can be a noob zonner and beat a good Makoto player simply because now Akuma has too many options to get away from Makoto and if she fallows him she would be a easy target for a BnB from Akuma or a U2 if she tries to timed the teleport. Remember this isn't 3rd strike its SSFIV and it's easier for Akuma to beat Makoto than the other way around. Also Akuma can beat her 2 ways..being offensively aggressive or zoning..while Makoto has only one way to defeat an opponent and that's being aggressive and you forget...how is Makoto gonna handle Akuma's vortex? or his cross ups with the Air FB( which even if you miss ur hit the air FB hit's and it's a 50/50 split) or the jumping MK or the tatsu cross up?
Posted by Whoa on March 2, 2010 at 3:42 p.m. #70
Only thing that worries me a bit is fireballs are much better in this game compared to SF3, and this will surely hurt Makoto. Still very much looking forward to kicking ass with her. Tanden Renki as a super should be amazing.
Posted by @68 on March 2, 2010 at 3:43 p.m. #71
When I think of new, I don't think of 10+ years. First, Makoto has completely different gameplay and isn't simply a shoto clone. She is completely unique in almost all of her moves. Second, she is nothing like Sakura. Sakura is very happy and optimistic, while Makoto is very very serious. She is like Ryu arguably, only female. Third, you have a biased opinion on what is street fighter. When I hear street figher, I think of the complexity that is 3S, not the hadouken spam of 2. Just because your personal agenda isn't met, doesn't mean others aren't jumping at joy for the adding of these 3 characters, such as myself.

First of all makoto and sakura are completely different. The only things they have in common is that they are Japanese females. They both have very different attitudes and they both play very differently.
3rd Strike is new? WTF? Alpha3 came out in 1998 and 3rd strike came out in 1999. 3rd strike isn't new.
pls Get a clue before coming on here and making comments and making a fool out of yourself. Your opinions are rubbish.

A BnB Akuma wont beat a good makoto..... The vortex effects all characters.... but a BnB Akuma will get predictable with the vortex.... wait... a BnB Akuma wont know what the vortex is lol.

What u forget to realize is if we trade you will get hit by either a hp shoryu or if you block the air Fb you will get hit by a f.mp either way you lose and if we trade it will knock me down to where I can teleport away so either way you look at it Akuma has an advantage over Makoto. Also BnB doesn't make a Akuma player predictable..do you know what a BnB means? hell the vortex is a mix up of knockdowns and BnB can't be predictable if you slip or whiff a move I can BnB(breadnbutter) which a example is c.lp>lk tatsy>hp shoryu thats a Akuma BnB....

Makoto is a very different kind of character, and I loved her in 3S. Her mindgame is very daunting, and makes her a very dangerous character. I love the mindgame (hence why I play Rose) and I love doing it. Nothing hurts more than your mind getting raped. It's not about Hadokens, Shoryukens, or brute force, it's all about getting in your opponent's head, killing them from the inside out.
Makoto is a perfect example of that.

It's gonna be so funny. Scrubs will try n use her but then realise how difficult she is to use and drop her."
Yeah, and so we'll have ten new characters and I'll still almost never fight anyone other than Ken, Ryu, Akuma, and Sagat. "Funny" isn't the word I'd use.
Capcom clearly would have to shake things up significantly to get people away from the popular characters and their advantages...and it's equally clear they aren't interested in doing that. Makoto will be little-chosen, and will be easily whooped by all the characters who are currently at the top of the rankings, for the same reasons they are there now.
"E. HONDA ,CODY AND MAKOTO ARE MY PERMANENT CHOICES. TO THE IDIOTS BELOW WHATS YOUR THREE CHOICES."
I don't really know what "permanent choices" are supposed to be, but it sounds like they'd be FOR idiots. If I spend money for a game with 35 characters in it, I want to learn as many as I can, and choose different characters often so I don't get bored or stuck in a rut. Picking the same character every single time is for autistic people and Japanese d-bags who turn Street Fighter into a job instead of a game.

I thought you meant if we traded hits.... if Akuma trades hit with anyone he loses.... if I punish the air FB with a well timed ex Hayate your losing. I know what BnB means (I havent been playing for 2 days) I a person who is BnB knows all their basic combos. And most people who play the game wont even try the vortex. What I meant by someone being predictable if someone is doing the same combo over and over again.... if read something.... and I see it coming again... I WILL punish it. The match-up will probably be 6-4 Akuma.... but from the way your talking about it.... you make it seem un-winnable.

@ Crono
If it trades then Akuma gets the losing end but on a timely well executed air FB its gonna hit even if it trades Akuma would be on the ground before you will perform any combo. Now not saying it's a unwinnable fight for Makoto but it surely will be very difficult for her to win is what I'm saying also its very hard to punish a BnB if the links are well put together no if I whiff a link in a BnB then I know it will be punish but once a BnB is in place it doesn't matter if you read it before if I catch you the BnB will happen and nothing will stop it. With me is not much you reading it if you mess up or if you whiff any move and I get the first hit believe me the link of the BnB will fallow and unless lag mess up my BnB nothing will stop it.

This Ryu guy is about as annoying as the character he plays. Yeah, great, you can combo into Ryu's Ultra, but not only are you BRAGGING about something a vegitable could do consistantly, you're proud of the fact that you use someone OP?
Destroying shoto scrubs online will be SO amazing. Even though I had to work for it, I eat shotos alive just with Fei Long, so now that I will be using someone who can deal with fireballs, i'll probably be perfecting shotos.

So.... what if I play perfectly.... I don't make a single mistake in a match... your saying I'm going to win? Street fight 4 was a game where you wait and punish... from what they are saying this game will be faster.... so instead of waiting for an opportunity... you have to create one (like how it was in 3rd strike) either way I will be using her in some way shape or form

I agree completely. I don't agree with easy characters at all. Except for 2 exceptions (Jin in Blazblue, Zero in Tatsunoko vs Capcom), i've always stuck to someone requiring sense and skill to use. Ryu just has so much going for him because Capcom worships him. And the Ryu losers see this and feel that anyone that isn't Ryu is useless or bad because Capcom puts Ryu up on a pedestal.
It makes destroying Ryu scrubs online all the sweeter, since I use Fei Long, someone low tier who lacks a fireball.

First round, spam fireballs, build up meter, look for base patterns in opponents gameplay.

Second round, change tactics slightly, whiff a couple of specials and watch how opponent reacts and monitor execution standard.
Third round... etc etc.
And thats just a basic gameplan.

Them putting her tanden renki has really turned me off makoto.
Think about this scenario which would happen if the tanden renki ended up being one of her ultra's.
Your ass is getting kicked in a round, your opponent has taken little if any damage, now you have your ultra built up. You can use it and have the chance of quickly turning the round and perhaps the game itself around, On the flipside of the coin you could lose even more quickly then you were before.
But this won't happen because they thought it best to put in her two other crappy super arts as her ultra's and her best one as her super.

A little creativity and fireballs wont be a problem at all. Makoto looks like she is going to be very powerful. FA paired with her extra fast dash is going to be scary since she will gain ultra meter and get closer. If the fireballer isn't careful she will focus dash in and harakusa. Depending on the situation that is basically game. I can't wait ^^

Makoto part of the three evils and arashi(devastating/rush-down)I love the sound of that
Many players complain about fireballs but I find the biggest problem is that Goddamn Shoryuken cuz after you finally reach your opponent a lovely DP is waiting for you is all to easy for Shotos this is a move that hits crouching standing and airborne opponents it can be use in betwen blockstrings and links if it trade you'll be at a worse postion then the Shoto you can throw a very simple C.LK and the DP will hit you anyway and if they do a LP DP they can easily do another LP DP or an Ultea to avoid being punish Capcom turn this move into the ultimate weapon the DP wasn't that powerful on SF3

Posted by Blazingsoldier2002 on March 2, 2010 at 7:46 p.m. #138
Tanden Renki lets her block, and adds damage to her Ultras. So, I don't see anything wrong with it.
Posted by @137 on March 2, 2010 at 7:48 p.m. #139
You never made an argument. You described a scenario that is not unique to the situation. every ultra carries with it the opportunity to turn the entire match around. That is, in fact, the entire purpose of the system. Tanden Renki would actually make that harder to do, what with NOT being a single attack you can combo into.
Posted by @140 on March 2, 2010 at 7:49 p.m. #140
You can use it to quickly turn the round. Okay, so? All ultras do that, they were designed for that purpose. And just because it's a super doesn't mean that it doesn't have the potential to change the round. In fact, it has even more power to change the game since it is a super, as ultras don't carry through rounds while super meter does.
"On the flipside of the coin you could lose even more quickly then you were before." Yeah, that happens when you whiff an ultra, too. Probably the equivalent of not landing any blows with Juri's Feng-Shui Engine or your theoretical Tanden Renki Ultra.
and about Tanden Renki from SF3. I think the risks outweighed the rewards. Yes, you can parry, but your opponent could too. as long as your opponent has a good keep-away defense game he can put up consistently, Tanden Renki was basically moot.
What is your main argument?
Posted by Reason4U on March 2, 2010 at 7:56 p.m. #141
MAKOTO is pretty freaking awesome with her close game dominance she a nice break from my KEN game in Third Strike. But you guys with your I'm gonna OWN shotos with Ibuki are just an embarrassment to yourselves. The same goes for the guy going "RYU rulez all lolz". I don't know whats worse the PRO-shoto troll or the ANTI-shoto dumbass that's feeding him.
Posted by SFness on March 2, 2010 at 8:11 p.m. #142
so glad my main made it into this version and based off what they say, her feel should remain the same. I'm quite happy with this review so far. I'm just wondering how they'll balance her out seeing how she probably will no longer be able to combo or mix up after her kick ultra in the air.
Posted by @139 on March 2, 2010 at 8:11 p.m. #143
"You never made an argument. You described a scenario that is not unique to the situation."
Even if that was the case, It still is an argument.
"every ultra carries with it the opportunity to turn the entire match around."
I see how it is.
Every move in the ******* game has an opportunity to turn the entire match around, I was obviously referencing the specific mechanic of the super art.
"Tanden Renki would actually make that harder to do, what with NOT being a single attack you can combo into."
Your right it's not a single attack, It's every move she has.
"Yeah, that happens when you whiff an ultra, too". No
If you wiff an ultra you might eat a combo or maybe even an ultra yourself, It's not the same as eating multiple combo's over the duration tenden renki is active which is potentially more damaging then any ultra and combo in the game. It just isn't the same thing.
"as long as your opponent has a good keep-away defense game he can put up consistently"
The exact same thing can be said for the other two super arts she has.

Posted by @143 on March 2, 2010 at 8:30 p.m. #145
This is what your main point consisted of:
" You can use it and have the chance of quickly turning the round and perhaps the game itself around, On the flipside of the coin you could lose even more quickly then you were before."
That does not, in any way, describe the specific use of Tanden Renki. It is literally how every single ultra works. Every ultra is s omething you build up over the round, and is stronng enough to turn the ENTIRE MATCH in your favor. I didn't mean every move could potentially change the match, I meant hitting with a character's ultra can change the entire match. And that's because it can.
It is not unique to Tanden Renki as a power-up move. I understand what you mean, I understand that it adds power to every attack. But every ultra works in the manner that you describe Tanden Renki specifically working.
Posted by @145 on March 2, 2010 at 9:04 p.m. #146
"That does not, in any way, describe the specific use of Tanden Renki"
Why would i need to describe the specific use of tanden renki? Anyway it still is an argument even if it's a bad one.
"I didn't mean every move could potentially change the match"
But every move CAN change the match that is why your point on ultra's is moot because you know that i was referring to the specific mechanic of tanden renki. I only used the counter example because you want to consider tanden renki in the same terms as other ultra's and i know why you did that but that argument is just as erroneous.

I think Makoto was so good in 3S because fireballs sucked, dragon punches were ok at best, and so were tatsumakis. All of which are better in this. Any match with a non shoto would be awesome. But for someone like Ryu it would be tough for Makoto to compare. So few recovery frames would be tough. Hopefully he gets some added

Nope not as long as you combo it, but you would know that wouldn't you lol
It's because the parry system made it possible to parry hadoukens, sonic booms , Oro's snot ball lol and etc
Parry helped made it easier for others to parry those projectiles, but than again it all depends on whose playing
I've seen some good players who parry and some who don't even parry at all
But since it is SSF4 without the parry system, it may be hard for makoto to get in, unless some of her moves can through a fireball or the ex version of it
, but then again we didn't see an actual gameplay of her fighting a projectile using character so we have no saying till we see what happens

I think that she has things to use against fireball barrage and to catch running away enemies (her dash was very fast in 3.3). At least she can change hits with her hayates. EX hayate is slower but hits through whole screen, if enemy charges a fireball (so was in 3.3, i dont know what will be in ssfIV).
And her jumping ultra. It was hard to land even in 3.3. But it was able to chain abare tosanami after HP (in your corner - easier, middle of the screen - harder), or qcb+MP (up to middle of the screen). And launching opponent into the air letting you do all you want (hello to 100% stun combos, which i was never able to do). I hope this will remain the same in ssfIV.

shut up already
Posted by CHARGE-E.HONDA on March 3, 2010 at 6:47 a.m. #168
Drop speed iz essential in a 2d fighter so i hope she has fantastic drop speed and a great cross-up,does any one have any ideas what her reversal and get-off-me options as well as her waking up from a throw options ,might be.
Posted by @168 on March 3, 2010 at 6:50 a.m. #169
Unfortunately, I'm fairly sure she doesn't really have any decent reversal options to speak of.
Posted by MAKOTO'S HUSBAND on March 3, 2010 at 6:50 a.m. #170
MAKOTO'S VAGINA IZ TOO DEEP I LIKE TIGHT VAGINA'S BUT HERS IZ JUST QUEEN SIZE AND TOO BEEFY
Posted by CHARGE-E.HONDA on March 3, 2010 at 6:57 a.m. #171
@169
If that is true lets hope the new move she is getting has great reversal properties 'cause if she don't have good options then if the opponent attacks you first your screwed over unless you can get in the command grab.
I'm afraid capcom will give her c.viper's life but c.viper has many options of getting in and staying in but what the hell i am going to do with her if it's so hard to get in and then she has poor health and a super that might make it poorer.
I HOPE CAPCOM GIVES HER AVERAGE HEALTH.
Posted by CHARGE-E.HONDA on March 3, 2010 at 7:04 a.m. #172
I think she does have poor health 'cause when the guty talked abut akuma he gave me the impression that she can die in two of his combos

makoto for president
Posted by AKIMO'S-STUDENT on March 3, 2010 at 7:13 a.m. #174
I doubt makoto ultra's would whiff easily as the first hit for both puts you into the demo.
Posted by @169 on March 3, 2010 at 9:33 a.m. #175
Doesn't her hayate and fukiage reverse? I remember seeing reversal on the screen when it was ibuki vs makoto when she was spaming hayate.
Posted by @196 on March 3, 2010 at 9:51 a.m. #176
Once again, I'm fairly sure that is not the case. It is a little confusing because the players switch sides during different clips, but all reverals are attributed to Ibuki.
At least, that's the impression I get. In the scene you are talking about Makoto hayates as Ibuki is going for what appears to be her neckbreaker. I assume the neckbreaker is being considered a reversal here? The reversal notice only pops up on Ibuki's side of the screen, so that means it is attributed to her, right?

I hope a Guy player wins the national tournament, or at least places top 5. :)
Posted by Blazingsoldier2002 on March 3, 2010 at 10:54 a.m. #178
I agree, Guy is an amazing character. That's why i'm going to be using Ibuki and Guy, and keeping Fei Long. This game has all of my SF series mains in 1 game now!

Cant you see that this game is pretty balanced, even though
U might say sagat is overpowered.
Not to mention ryu/akuma are pretty strong in this game aswell
Though not as much as sagat.
Anyway I g2g, See You Next Tuesday.
Posted by WilliAm NiKe on March 3, 2010 at 11:19 a.m. #180
Why are people complaining about this?
All the charachters have strengths and weakness.
None of them seem to overpowered to me, but its nice to
Know they are rebalancing the charachters.
Anyway I g2g, I need a W***

Makoto is a great addition in my opinion, but I don't like how they already say she's going to have trouble with Ryu, Sagat, and others with good projectiles... SF4's mechanics already make it relatively easy to zone with those chars. Nothing wrong with zoning, but...I just have a bad feeling about this.
Oh, and I don't think SF4 is balanced...It is balanced for Capcom's standards...and let's be honest, Capcom's balance standards are not that high....

Why are you guys so jealous? You wouldn't be so jealous when I cr.mk -> EX fireball fadc cancel you into ultra #1.

I run into a Makoto player thinking "Oh Crap she's God Tier accoring to some people on eventhubs" I pick Dan as a way of giving up.
3 minutes later...
Now clouded with false hope:
"Aw yeah! I beat a God Tier character with the Hoah Gadoken! Saikyo Fighting style the greatest! I'm awesome!"
Posted by @183 on March 3, 2010 at 1:14 p.m. #184
The only people who use the term "God Tier" are those who wish their favorite characters were at the very top. People on forums like this will always talk up their favorites.
ESPECIALLY before they have any info on where they will actually be on the list.
Posted by Dash on March 3, 2010 at 2:20 p.m. #185
We are the biggest beta testers for the game. Theres always away around something for the most part. So as far as projectiles go. She may have issues with them but like all characters we the fans always find a way to get past projectiles because we would ultimately spend more time playing the game and perfecting the character than the developers. We always bring new info. to the table on what should be done and what works and what does not not work.
Posted by Ahem. on March 3, 2010 at 2:42 p.m. #186
God Tier is SF4 E. Honda with a ex headbutt that goes thru projectiles and an U2 720 Butt Smash that has frame advantage like SF4 Zangief's Spinning Piledriver.
Now that's god-tier.

I am glad that they have decided to add a cross generation of fighters in SSF4, but they could have at least added 4 Street Fighter 3rd Strike characters instead of 3. Me personally I think Alex would have made a excellent choice in the roster as well. Who else thinks so? Then you would have had Alex, Zangife, Able, El Furte, and Hakan.
Posted by Melbester9 on March 3, 2010 at 2:54 p.m. #188
I agree at 187 even though he isnt in the game, you can play tatsunoko vs capcom, hes in that game. Im sure hes gonna be in next sequel, because of his his appearance in the game.
Posted by THE GODDAMN MASTER on March 3, 2010 at 3:06 p.m. #189
They really couldn't have made Makoto just a smidgen more attractive?
I mean, look at that constipated grimace...
Posted by @187 on March 3, 2010 at 3:30 p.m. #190
I doubt Capcom would want to put Alex in SSF4 cos he's already in TvC.

HOW DEAR YOU INSULT MY SEX DOLL IT'S NOT HER FAULT SHE WAS CREATED FROM THE SAME INK AS RYU ,BUT HER VAGINA KNOWS NO BOUNDS .

MAKOTO HAS MEATY PUSSY FLAPS ,
Posted by @189 on March 3, 2010 at 3:42 p.m. #193
Makoto is a country girl from a not so rich background. Those lot don't exactly care too much about their physical appearance, besides makoto cares more about her martial arts than her looks.
Posted by MAKOTO'S HUSBAND on March 3, 2010 at 3:47 p.m. #194
MAKOTO CARES ABOUT HER LOOKS FOOL,U WANT PROOF WELL SHE CUT OFF HER CLITORIS 'CAUSE IT LOOKED LIKE A BABY DICK.

hopefully Makoto will be able to have the same stun rate as she did in 3rd Strike :D. it'd be pretty broken :D
Posted by Random_Guy on March 3, 2010 at 5:36 p.m. #197
Cant wait to play makoto in ssf4, she was my main in third strike
Her Fukiage seems better now thank God.
The way she moves, they way she dashes, the intensity of her attacks.....her cool winning poses & taunts.
Man MAKOTO is the BEST.

I am always amazed at the frequency of angry, aggressive, insulting comments at these places. We're all people who like Street Fighter (well, most of us.) That puts us in a minority compared to most gamers. Why can't we all just enjoy the game together, instead of playing theory fighter and calling each other names?
Posted by AKIMO'S-STUDENT on March 3, 2010 at 6:42 p.m. #199
I want to have sex with makoto ,
Posted by @Bob on March 3, 2010 at 11:12 p.m. #200
A lot of people play competitive games to feel superior to others when they win. And get really angry when they lose (or refuse to acknowledge the loss).
There are a lot of jerks out there, unfortunately.

Majorly happy about the Fukiage change.
