A few new things have been announced concerning this year's Evolution Fighting Game Championship, which takes place from July 9 - 11, in Las Vegas, Nevada. To give you an idea of what to expect from the biggest fighting game tournament on the planet, here's a bulleted run down of notable stuff.
• Level|Up Series will be hosting the live stream this year, showing matches all three days. Things will get underway around 9 a.m. PDT each day, the full schedule is here. Expanded coverage will be provided on EventHubs.com, with notable match listings and other stuff not available on the live stream.
• $20,000+ in prize money will be on the line for Super Street Fighter 4.
• An early build of Marvel vs. Capcom 3 will be playable at the event.
• Special appearances by Street Fighter 4 series producer, Yoshinori Ono and vs. series producer, Ryota Niitsuma.
• Top players from 20 different countries are scheduled to compete, including Daigo Umehara, Justin Wong, Tokido, Marn, Alex Valle, etc.
• Special gold plated Mad Catz Tournament Edition FightSticks will be given to the top 8 SSF4 finishers.
• The games in this year's lineup are Super Street Fighter 4, Tekken 6, Tatsunoko vs. Capcom, Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix, Marvel vs Capcom 2 and Melty Blood.
• The top SSF4 Ken player will receive a Stetson cowboy hat, just like the one in his new alternative costume.
• The film about the fighting game scene, Bang the Machine, will be shown.
Yes, one of the things that ruined evo last year was the sell out to IGN and the stupid pay to see the archives system where they didn't even upload all the matches until half a year later.
@#8 Good point, I don't think IGN ever uploaded all the matches that was on the stream in HD, and yet they still expected us to pay for it. lols @ IGN.

Bang the Machine is a film created back in like 2000 or so and it shows the rise of the competitive street fighter scene, it has the greats, John Choi, Alex Valle, Mike Watson, and more It wasnt released because the only copy has music that isnt licensed and the original footage was lost I believe. Ive seen the film twice, its actually a great film, worth the watch... gives you a look into the lives of some of the players and their struggles.
also its funny to see such great names 10 years ago, especially Watson.
