@ScytheWP
I think he was just pointing out that your comment makes no sense. How can you have a launcher button and the same 4 button layout? Assuming that there will still be two Assists. Unless you suggest there to be 7 buttons. Or maybe that it became 2 vs 2 and then it can have just 5 buttons.
Yeah, you need to be a little clearer with what you meant.
@Smorgasboard
I'm pretty sure that ScytheWP was saying that they should have used the MvC 2 setup instead of having the weak, medium, strong, partner/exchange setup TvC has. MvC2 had Weak Punch, Strong Punch, Weak Kick, Strong Kick, setup plus the two assists. jamheald misinterpreted what SytheWP meant thinking he just wanted a 4 button setup which minus the assist buttons MvC3 had.
I think it is nice that you can get a medium attack when you want it now instead of having to go through your light attack first. That always made MvC 2 seem too friendly to people starting out. Makes dial-a-comos even easier to pull off. But really the exchange button simply makes all launchers the same and adds a new mechanic it isn't anything to wet your bed about. you can still do 4 attacks followed by a spike for an air combo because if you watch the videos you'll see Ryu does the same thing he could in TvC to air lights and two air mediums. In short the game will be extremely similar but requires maybe one less minute of learning. Way too early to speculate balance but it isn't too hard to be more balanced than MvC2 so this game has a lot of good potential.
@liel
TvC has a Weak, Medium, Strong, and Assist button; 4 buttons: 3 attacks and an assist.
MvC2 has LP, LK, HP, HK, Assist 1, and Assist 2; 4 attacks and 2 assists
MvC3 has Wek, Medium, Strong, Air Launcher/Exchange, Assist 1, and Assist 2; 6 buttons: 3 attacks, 1 "unique" attacks, 2 assists.
So basically with the control scheme they made it so one button is dedicated to the launcher attack...big whoop. It's not dumbed down at all. Now for Magneto it is just one button instead of down and one button. Get over it. The impressions say it is a lot faster than TvC and the controls are super tight. And on top of that, the devs say they want to make it even more like MvC2 by release.
Just because Ryu is similar to TvC Ryu isn't a bad thing either. Remember how good Ryu was in MvC2? Oh wait he wasn't, he was terrible. God forbid they make him effective. Get over yourselves.
I'm well aware of the button layouts for TvC, MvC2, and MvC3 I just left out the two assist buttons for MvC3 the rest was right though for all the games I mentioned.
That being said, however, I do like that we have 3 levels of attack strength (weak, medium, strong or whatever) now to play with though I do wish I could have punches and kicks separated since that's what I'm more or less used to. Ah well though I'll try to get used to the new layout though...
the more i see this the more i hate the models in sf4. They look so much better here.
Game looks incredible, over at 1up they even featured it first among the best looking games on E3. Can't believe some people in here complain about the styling of this game, wtf? Really looking forward to both this and Mortal Kombat next Spring!!!!!!
