Ok, that's the first and last time I'll ever do that.
Anyways, back on topic, what Japanese players should we expect at Evo? I'm sure Daigo is coming, but what others?

As much as I enjoy watching Justin and Marn play, I think it's kind of sad asking the community to pay for their tickets to France. These guys are at a "challenging financial time" because they decided not to get a job.
How much money did Justin make winning numerous tournaments at ECT and NCR?
Posted by powderedtoastman on June 4, 2010 at 6:57 a.m. #3
thought these top players have sponsors paying for their traveling expenses... It is pretty sad asking for donations to go to a game tourney instead of something more serious, but seeing that cash prize i cant blame them for trying to do anything to get there. too bad im broke myself or id help lol.
Posted by Nyoronoru on June 4, 2010 at 7 a.m. #4
I know this is going to sound mean, but... paying someone money to win money for themselves? I have a lot of uses for my finances and that's not one of them. I have respect for their gameplay, but I am not going to support their expenses.
Posted by Struggs on June 4, 2010 at 7:03 a.m. #5
Air fair from L.A. to France is like 2000-3000 dollars per person. I don't know how many of you can come up with that at the drop of a hat, but I know I couldn't.
The community looks out for its members where they can. This isn't the same thing, but when Chris Hu's place burned down, we helped him out.
If we can help get JWong and Marn to France to play, we should do it. IF WE CAN. No one is requiring you to donate, they're simply asking.
Posted by SabishiiRyuu on June 4, 2010 at 7:07 a.m. #6
If it was Inthul or someone else with a lil' bit of respect for his opponents, I'd pay a nickel or two. Bustin and EX Snorlax(Marn) are 2 of the biggest douchebags in the community. I respect their skill, but their personality is garbage.
Posted by CMAyhem on June 4, 2010 at 7:09 a.m. #7
@1
eita and fuudo are coming too
they were the winners of that tournament in cannes, that gave 2 passes to Evo, remenber!?
Posted by Nyoronoru on June 4, 2010 at 7:13 a.m. #8
@Struggs
Then they can just not go. Sometimes you can't afford or have time to go places. I guess if you're a big enough fan, I won't stop you, but I will never endorse this in the "should" and "have to" category.
The way this is set up just feels an awful lot like skimming fighting game players for a luxury, and not a need. Just my 2 cents, my last post too.

i can't believe u guys gonna give your money to 2 fatboys , to go to Fu*kin france, so they can play video games and have fun there!

@#5.... Seriously? you are comparing a burned house with flight tickets? I'm sure if JWong house caught fire we would all help out, but as #4 states, paying money for someone else to make money? yeah, I don't think so. Get a job, get sponsors, do a raffle, sell your undies, whatever, just don't beg for money.

be careful, ESWC is not held in Fleury-Les-Aubrais, France but apparently in Disneyland Paris.

C'mon guys, like someone said above, we're ALL facing financial difficulties, even top players like Wong. There not demanding Hundreds of dollars just asking if you can spare some change. I think if theyre THAT desperate to ask us, they must really want to attend. I mean how many other times have they asked for donations? Give em a break. If you cant give it, than dont bitch about it.
Posted by SethP on June 4, 2010 at 7:30 a.m. #13
I tossed in some cash. You guys may not have jobs or may be 12 or whatever, but if you aren't, and you care about the American fighting game scene, this is the kind of thing you can toss a few bucks to.
You definitely shouldn't be bashing them for asking for help when they need it.
Posted by CriticalManimal on June 4, 2010 at 7:31 a.m. #14
errrr... I thought I saw an interview with Justin telling the interviewer that he didn't need to get a job because he was making enough from tournaments... I got better things to do with my money... like to wipe my butt and set it on fire than to give it to some kids to goto France to play in a tourny for their enjoyment.
Chris Hu lost is friggin house. These chumps lost their damn mind. The audacity...
FADC into ULTRA LAME.
Posted by Lue on June 4, 2010 at 7:44 a.m. #15
These two have every right to ask for money, just as everyone else has a right to bitch about them asking. If you have the money to pay them and it is in your interest to see them succeed, then good on you.
Quite frankly, I don't see too many people with this kind of interest in mind. As one person above me mentioned, these gentlemen CHOSE not to get a job, so it is hard to pay them any sympathy.
Posted by tramps on June 4, 2010 at 7:54 a.m. #16
Why would I donate money to Marn, when all he's gonna do is random ultras and EX Jet Uppers like someone on Xbox Live?

Guaranteed $2,500 to top 8 players for SSF4.
that is very...generous!!
Posted by wongba on June 4, 2010 at 8:02 a.m. #18
a few points:
1. some say it's lame that jwong and marn are asking for money. but on the other hand, if they attend, some viewers (myself anyways) would pay closer attention to the tourney and possibly extract more enjoyment out of it rooting for them. for me, this is probably true of any tourney jwong attends. but this being an international tourney, the interest level might be even higher. i'm not saying this warrants paying their way, but it's true i'd enjoy it more. the same would be true of daigo. my interest level in a tourney would instantly go up if i knew daigo was competing.
2. jwong has actually done some things for the community. he helps run the ffa things on the weekends, he has answered some of the community's questions on his website and on gootecks' podcast, and he gave some previews of the new chars for ssf4. has he done as much as valle and gootecks to promote the game? maybe not. but he certainly hasn't horded his knowledge. he even gave tips to andyocr after beating him at ncr. he has certainly come across as arrogant in some interviews, but since moving away from triforce and the ny gang, he seems almost likable. perhaps the cali environment has kinda mellowed him out. thank freaking god he cut his hair a bit too. srsly wtf was up w/ that justin? yea, it's kinda his signature haircut, but man, real talk... he needs a stylist.
3. marn has not really done so much for the community. or at least i'm not aware of it. and he still acts like an ass. he's just not very likable. at all. perhaps intentions don't come across well on a stream thru the prism of game characters, but taunting ppl in a match when they've played a good game is just unnecessary. pawwing at someone like a madman while a match is going on should really have gotten him dq'd. when i watch him play, i can't help but root for him to lose. i'm very much disincentivized from paying him to play.
4. in my mind, justin really hurt his cause by not separating his fund raising from marn. i know marn's his friend, but this sort of thing really highlights how justin is a little tone deaf regarding pr. and maybe he doesn't want to go alone... i dunno. marn's inclusion just makes it that more difficult for me to contemplate donating, which was a difficult thought to begin with. donations require some goodwill (or political capital if u will). in my mind justin had a small amount of it built up from doing things for the community. in asking for donations, he is spending that capital. any whiff of negativity lessens that goodwill, and marn is a manure truck full of negativity. my guess is that there won't be many donations. i haven't made up my mind, but the easiest thing to do is nothing. a better argument should be forthcoming than simply, "please fund me and my rude compatriot."
Posted by wongba on June 4, 2010 at 8:07 a.m. #19
left something off: perhaps part of that better argument could be something like, "if we win, we'll donate part of the winnings back to the community in the form of fatter data pipes (or any such tech upgrades) for upcoming regional streams."
Posted by delirium on June 4, 2010 at 8:10 a.m. #20
LOL @ Justin/Marn ...
Yeah it's expensive to fly to France but come on.
If I'm not mistaken, Justin has won every SF4 tournament he's been to besides Evo '09. Tonamento alone says he's had almost $7k in tournament winnings. That's enough to fly him, his GF, and Marn over there. Where is that money? Where's EMP?

as an american soldier living in turkey i would honestly say dont give them a damn dime. only because i would hate to see those two idiots representing our country. we have plenty of other good players who might not win as much but are plenty capable of winning and representing us.
you shouldnt be that concerned about america getting recognized in the fighting game community. were second only to japan and were america the greatest country on the planet. you should be more concerned about getting fighting games more recognized in america so we can surpass japans fighters. and besides they dont want to go to for us they want to go for the money and its freakin disneyland in paris who wouldnt want to go. a holes shouldnt beg for anything.
buy a candy bar for your girl or kid if you got one. if you dont then buy one for your mom or your dad and tell them that you were thinking of them. itll make you feel better than spending it on something as stupid as this.

I will take the donations instead

Posted by doublef on June 4, 2010 at 8:48 a.m. #24
I don't think it was the best decision for Justin to live entirely off of tournament earnings. Without a real job, it would be very hard to stay above poverty level even if you're winning all the big tourneys.
But that $14,000 pot at ESWC pry has Wong and Marn frothing at the mouth. No wonder they've resorted to asking for money. If I was considered, arguably, one of the best players in the world, and I knew I had a very good shot at winning ESWC, I would beg borrow and steal to get my ass to France.
Unfortunately this is clearly a "want" rather than a "need", which is why most people will be reluctant to give. It also doesn't help that Marn wants to go too. Marn's been sucking it up at tournaments since Super came out.
If it was only Justin, I might consider donating (because it would be nice to see an American take out all those Frenchy's). But I can't rationalize donating for Marn. He just hasn't proven himself recently (although I've heard he plays well overseas).
Posted by Marn on June 4, 2010 at 8:54 a.m. #25
I made an account to answer some questions.
1. Justin and I are not begging for donations, we're just hoping to go to represent America. Actually, if we were to win, we would either 1. issue the money back to the donators, 2. give back to the community in some form.
2. People have all the reason to hate me. Because I taunt, dance, be stupid during tournaments, doesn't mean that I'm a douche. I've traveled not only to tournaments, but to teach new players. I sit down with people who want advice at tournaments and even at home when people message me. If you know anyone who doesn't hate me because of stupid reasons, you would know that I'm more than just the fat guy on teh stream.
3. Sponsors? Do you know how hard it is to even get sponsors? We don't have sponsors. Empire is NOT a sponsor in any way, shape, or form. We've already established that EMP has not flown us ANYWHERE EVER. We don't get sponsored, we have to pay out of our own pockets and on top of that, we have bills. I have side jobs. I work, it's just not enough to go to this invite event.
4. We're asking for help, sure. If we don't get enough, we'll refund back the donations and just not go. Justin isn't around to help me with this at all, so I'm doing this practically alone. Justin is out of contact for 3 weeks because of personal reasons. If you want to donate to just Justin, it's fine, if we raised $1400, we'd send Justin and not me. If we raised $2800, that's when I would go. It IS $1400 roundtrip per ticket. Do you really think I would choose myself to go over Justin?
We're ASKING not BEGGING or anything. If you're not donating because you hate me and not Justin, then you'd be donating for the wrong reasons anyway. It's fine if you hate me, but Justin hasn't done anything bad that's remotely close to what I've done. We simply do not have that kind of money just because we play and win Street Fighter 4.
Again, we wont go if we don't get enough it's as simple as that.
On top of everything, MarkMan from MadCatz will be giving away stuff to people who donate a certain amount ^_^
Posted by Hamza on June 4, 2010 at 8:58 a.m. #26
Lol. This is hilarious.
Seriously though, if it was Sanford instead of Marn, I would consider donating. Right now though, not a chance in hell.
Anyways on the airfrance site, a flight to france for 2 adults is about 1200 $. Jwong should be able to afford that easily. He should probably talk to top french players to see if anyone can accomodate him or sumthing like that.

Umm F-U-C-K that those 2 have been wining all those tourneys they can use all that money to get to the bigger ones...thats the whole point of wining right? I suggest that they hit up ALL the smaller ones if they want to go. And Also i feel like since chris hu problem i think they think they can "Cash in" on us im not biting nether should anyone else.

Blah this is for Justin first, not me -_-;. I'm 2nd :(.
And have you guys ever seen Justin's bank account? Cause I have and it's not as big as you guys think.
Posted by rodrico on June 4, 2010 at 9:03 a.m. #29
You guys should work it like a stake system on poker websites...
You stake them on hopes they make some return on your investment. So if it costs $1400 to go, for each person who invests, you could pay some profit, and still win money for yourselves. With such a huge payout, its almost worth paying back donations or doubling their payout if Jwong or Marn get first place.
Anyhow, good luck guys and hope you guys get to go and win something.
Posted by mcfizzle on June 4, 2010 at 9:04 a.m. #30
You guys should be going after Air France and Continental/United as sponsors. Least they can help you out by letting you fly places on standby. No real loss to them and access to domestic and international tournaments.
Posted by Marn on June 4, 2010 at 9:05 a.m. #31
I was thinking about giving back double the donations, that's part of the incentives that me and MarkMan were talking about.
And Chris Hu lol, cash in.. Really? Do you know how much we gave to Chris Hu? Did you know that Justin was the person who thought of teh idea for the Chris Hu donations?
Posted by SayaGam on June 4, 2010 at 9:22 a.m. #32

i can see this is going to be some flame war right here. yo marn i admire your sf skills and all, but in all honesty i find it difficult to donate to anyone (don't matter who it is) to go to a video game tournament. sorry. good luck w/ the tournaments you go to though.
Posted by Cucaracho on June 4, 2010 at 9:52 a.m. #41
"Because I taunt, dance, be stupid during tournaments, doesn't mean that I'm a douche" That's like saying because I steal, I kill that doesn't mean I'm a criminal
Marn if you act like a douche, smell like a douche, speak like a douche, then guess what?, you are a douche, I feel that USA shoudn't be represented by you, or any country, in any way.
That TE stick contest now is lame btw. You are very lucky to have all the options you have, stop whinning, what about people who loves the game and lives in Chile, Colombia or Venezuela, you have any idea of how hard things are there to barely play at all?, and there are good playres on those countries who will never be in a tournament because bad luck, go find a real job and stop asking for donations to act like a douche on international tournaments.
Marn if you werent friend of Justin you would only be an annonymous loser.
Posted by doublef on June 4, 2010 at 9:55 a.m. #42
Marn, i gotta admit i respect you coming on here and explaining everything (the EventHubs comments section is known to be a hotbed of hating and trolling). You should pry get SRK to post about this too, people are a little less harsh over there.
Do u happen to know if there are any other American players going? Cause if not, I can see why you and Justin want to represent. I don't like seeing the French win at anything.
Also, what's going on with your Dudley? Are u dropping him completely? Over the last few tourney's, I've seen you use him brilliantly in a few matches, but then get rolled over in others. Do u think Dudz just isn't a viable tournament character yet? I'm asking this cause i love Dudley, and i was so happy when u first started using him (while everyone else was being lame and picking their old mains), but then you started struggling with him and switched back to Viper. Does Dudley still have a future with you?

I think random Marn hate is harsh, especially when it's people who haven't met him...A lot of the things Marn or Justin do may come across as egotistical or something but in a lot of the cases they're just having fun with people who understand it's all jokes and enjoying themselves...Most the time when I see people complain it's because they completely misunderstood their intentions.
Saying that, I thought donating for them to go win money was a bit silly...It's cool though if donations are returned, prizes given etc...The chance of Justin winning is...Well hell, it's pretty much a garauntee given his current form.
A better explanation should be put in the original article instead of having to read down to what Marn has said to understand.

I usually just spectate on this site but figured I would make an account for this occasion. Honestly, I get the feeling that most people who hate on Marn (but especially) Justin are just straight up jealous. It's easy to say they're cocky and arrogant, but they are respected by their actual competitors in the community for a reason. Random netizens hating on them means nothing so long as they can back it up, and judging by how much time you all spend commenting on this site and not practicing, I'd imagine none of you will be besting them anytime soon.
These guys are two great choices to represent the U.S. at the ESWC. There are only what, 7-8 people announced to be invited? For $14,000? Yeah, I like Justin's chances in that lineup. I'll see if I can't donate a bit tonight.
Assuming you two make it over there in time, good luck.

If the air fare from LA to France is 2-3k, then they should fly to london and get the eurostar (train) to paris. The train is 2 hours and will cost from £60-£180 return depending on how far in advance they book.

Kind of makes me wonder what those cats are doing with all those prize winnings. I understand that expenses come up in life, but they've recently been at the top of quite a few $1000+ tournaments.
Either way, offering to give the prize money back to the community is pretty good-spirited, and since they'd be doing the right thing with the money, I can't knock them for asking for donations.
Posted by Positronium on June 4, 2010 at 12:07 p.m. #62
Stop with the hate mail. FFS, this is just like Seb's FrameAdvantage streams. They're not BEGGING for any donations, they're simply asking if you would. It's not like Marn is here acting like a 5 year old for a new toy at Toys'R'Us.
Some of you are saying that the economy is in horrible shape right now, and uhh, no shxt? Why else do you think these guys aren't able to afford their tickets right now? Yeah they win big at tournaments, but you forgot about how they're living. You think they get free boarding? Free internet, tv, cable? Nope. They have to pay their dues just as much as we do.
I will admit that I first saw Marn at EVO last year with his floatie (which was hilarious by the way), but he did come off to me a little disrespectful. Every time he won he'd throw his hands up like Rufus would and dance around a bit. Yes, it is a big tournament with top and respectable people, but who says you had to be all work and no play? I don't know about Marn's past relationship with the previous EVO events, but while anyone is there, might as well have fun. Though his version of fun wasn't approved by everyone, to each their own. Hell, if you were there with a bunch, wouldn't you goof off a bit? In the end, Marn is just like Rufus; he's fat and jiggly (no offense) and he just wants to put on a good show and be funny.
"I don't feel like paying for people to go play video games to win more money? Pass!"
...Seriously, swap positions with them. If you were this good, I would sure as hell bet you wouldn't pass this opportunity up, look at the prize pot. Why wouldn't you want to go? And it's like what Marn just said, it's to get Justin to go first and foremost, with Marn's position as the latter if they can get enough money. And they're not saying "EVERY ONE! Please donate a total of X amount so Justin and I can go, so we don't have to pay out of our own pockets! Please and thank you very much!" They are paying their share to, so it's not like they aren't paying their dues as well.
As pissed as I was when reading the past 50+ comments, there's always more than one side to an argument.

interesting topic of conversation
we all wish we could donate, on the other hand we all wish we could attend these tournaments ourselves..
i'm sure if everyone put in as much time practicing and playing sf as much as these guys we'd do well in tournaments.. but instead, i'm working 60+ hours a week with very little time to play at all..
i guess thats the situation professional gamers put themselves into. you can be broke, but continue to do what you love to do.. or just work your ass off and be a casual gamer with aspirations of being better than everyone..

"We all wish we could donate"??
Uh no, I wish this loser would quit trolling the boards looking for handouts. Go find a streetcorner and a can. I hear 7th and Vermont is available.
Did this event just pop out of thin air this morning? Of course not, it's been known for a while, plenty long enough to start saving for it eh?
Any kid who gives money is getting took, point blank, and Marn will be laughing all the way to Paris.

#26 Marn: "1. Justin and I are not begging for donations, we're just hoping to go to represent America. Actually, if we were to win, we would either 1. issue the money back to the donators, 2. give back to the community in some form."
That's reasonable. I won't be donating, but good luck to you. And if you get over there...do your best.

After reading this announcement, I donated $50 to Haiti relief efforts instead. I like jwim's comment #23.
I don't think Justin and Marn have any concept of saving/investing their winnings and instead buy toys for themselves. Here's a clue: take your winnings and put them back into street fighter tournaments to win more $$.

Look at justin and marn for a moment...
You see all the extra fat on them? Yeah, they need at least 3000-4000 calories per day in order to maintain that weight.
Marn in the only one with a job but we all know where that money is going(nom nom nom nom)
And where did justin's money go? OH wait, NOM NOM NOM NOM
i'm sorry, but i don't want these guys to represent the US, even though they do(physically).

I'll donate if i have the money, but i dont loll...but wait, doesnt marn suck at sf? (relative to top tourney players, not relative to the public) I mean, im not tryna defame or what not, but i've only seen videos where marn loses

what's wrong with asking people for money? do you guys have any idea how hard it is to ask people for money? they have pride and would rather use their own money to take the trip, but obviously they can't because it's ridiculously expensive.

Evolution 2010 is my best tournament for the summer
because it has all the major players(Daigo, Justin, etc.)
in one place. Second of all there many non-Evo
tournaments such as SNCR. I've seen have the top 2
or the winners of these games get a free opportunity
to compete in the big one is Las Vegas. Everyone
is getting a better way in to this year's Evolution
Tournament.

Its pretty easy to hate others because your behind a computer screen and judging them by streams is like judging a person like brad pitt because of a movie he was in, your not there to know exactly how everything goes on with marn and wong, so unless they treated you like douches in a tournament then you can rightfully say as such but if you haven't your no better than an 11 year old kid who needs to grow up. Also Wong's Rufus is damn good and daigo is not the almighty street fighter player he is very beatable. IF wong and marn go i wish luck to both of them.(but marn should play his C.viper)

Lol at the scrubs at this site. I know at least a couple of you on this site are at least over the age of 16 or 17. You guys should understand that in reality Justin in around 2 months has really only won $3,000 if even that. You guys should understand that is not enough money to go out and buy a $1,400 plain ticket to paris when you have bills and daily expenses.
Real talk Marn is coming on here asking nicely when this is probably the worst site to do it on cus it is filled with nothing scrubs that arent even part of the community. All most of yall do is play online scrubbing it and not contributing to the community at all. Many of yall scrubs on here really dont do nothing but try to hate on the top players cus you have nothing better to do. If it makes you feel important then its pretty sad to hear. Yall are living up to the moniker Eventscrubs pretty well.
But whatever sooner or later maybe this will get posted on SRK were there is actual community members.
P.S. Sanford should go instead of Marn

If they cant afford the travel now, how were they always able to afford it in the past? What about their winning money they keep winning at other tourneys? what bout independent MM? id suggest they should just set up a booth somewhere you know like a lemonade stand but at a busy crowded area, offering MM to ppl. that would get them money real fast.

YOU DO KNOW ITS VANILLA NOT SUPER RIGHT? Honestly, I would donate if either of you guys would like play 3-5 games over Xbox Live/PSN.
This may be a way to get a lot of $5 donations. You two are my favorite players to watch (following Justin throughout Marvel seemingly forever now) and I hope you win if you make it.
If Ryan Hart's ass wins one round I will demand a refund almost immediately -.-;

Posted by SteadiestShark on June 4, 2010 at 2:33 p.m. #85
As far as I'm concerned - everyone that joins any tournament that Wong is in - has already contributed. It's like free money for him...
Posted by Axefresh on June 4, 2010 at 2:39 p.m. #86
I don't understand why this tournament, it's important to represent the USA. There were many other tournaments in France. I can only guess why. This is much like how I hear Justin is taking priority over EVO with WCG Ultimate Gamer, because of the bigger possible winnings.
Also for having unfortunate finances, out of the top players in the USA, the only people who had the capability to attend Super Norcal Regionals, Final Round, East Coast Throwdown and West Coast Warzone were Justin and Marn. There are bunch of talented players that can only stick to their state, or even city, where their growth is somewhat stunted by lack of player variety.
The sentiment isn't "lolz i hate u guyz for winning so much". It's more like "undisputed champ, what have you done for the average scrub like me, that didn't amount to $100/hr personal sf4 lessons?"
Overall, someone will win a lot of money playing SF4 in this tourney. I'm just not sure why it should be my concern that it has to be J.Wong, with a vague promise about giving back to the community with the earnings.
Posted by TheMasterPlayer on June 4, 2010 at 2:56 p.m. #87
Paying for people to go to tournaments is kind of ludicrous imo. Like many people mentioned here, where did you guys (Justin and Marn) spend all your tournament winnings at? Justin just about won/wins every single tourney he attended/ attends since SFIV came out last year. I honestly hope you guys can go, only so far as it is from your own HARD EARNED MONEY!
And like others mentioned, if this was a community member losing a house (like Chris Hu) then I see the point in donating. But paying for you two just so you can hoard some more money for yourselves just shows how greedy and selfish you two are.
Go get yourselves a real JOB. Especially Justin! YOu've got to work for money pal! Money doesn't fall on trees you know!

@ 89 Deadds. I know their pros son! don't you think I dont know? J-Wong is the SFIV US Champion! I know my facts so just keep quiet! Your argument that these two DESERVE everything they want and need is so ridiculous! Just because these two are top players doesn't mean they get to cruise along with other people's hard earned money. next time show some intelligence in your arguments before you open your mouth. it just shows how ignorant you really are. I don't see the point in paying for someone (champion, well known, or not) to go to tourneys! I've got better things to do with my money. got it? good.

Hey Marn I'm know you're reading this but #84 has a great suggestion!
You guys should take on the challenge of playing online Scrubs for $$$. Matches like let's say FT5 for $10, Ft10 $20 or some price range that suits everyone. The person playing doesnt get anything in return since the money is going to help you and Justin, but MANY would prob want to jump at the chance just to play you guys. I know I would be one of the scrubs LOL.
Good Idea!

@ 94 I know they are just asking. But c'mon, it really offends me that they have the nerves to even ask. They should man up and pay for their own fare if they want to go so badly. And justin wong should have more than enough money to pay since he's just won every single tourney he's been to for the past year and a half of joining sfiv tourneys don't you think? tough luck if he didn't save up.
Posted by whinerhubs_com on June 4, 2010 at 4:45 p.m. #103
LOL at Justin and Marn asking for donations. Good luck for 2 of the biggest a-holes in the community getting the donation. How about I'll paypal them a TAUNT instead.
If either of them actually win something, instead of thanking you, you bet they'll shove a pic of $14000 in front of your face everytime they taunt, to remind youself how big of a sucker you're donating to them.
Seriously, US has its own share of image problems already. We don't need to be embarrassed ourselves further by having these 2 overweight A_holes representing USA.
Posted by Hitstick on June 4, 2010 at 5:03 p.m. #104
I can't believe people are taking this video game thing seriously. Two people asked for donations and they get insulted because they aren't liked for what they [attitude] do in video game tournaments? lulz at the lameness here, either yes you will donate or don't respond at all people. And I do have to lol at the two gamers asking for donations just so they could go lol "represent America," not in a War as a soldier, not in a meeting for world peace or anything important but in a VIDEO GAME tournament like it is serious business, lol. America is broke as it is people are barely holding on to their own by the Grace of God.
Posted by wongba on June 4, 2010 at 5:10 p.m. #105
@marn if u guys are willing to stakes, this could make sense as an investment regardless of what our personal opinions are of them.
justin's chances of winning look pretty decent atm b/c i don't see japanese players on the invited list. do u know of this is still true?
if u guys take a stake at double the initial input, that's looking like a pretty decent bet. i might even put in a hundred or two if the roster stays the same.
Posted by Marn on June 4, 2010 at 5:14 p.m. #106
@People saying they'd donate to Justin and not me. If you want, if we even get to $1400, I'll tell you guys to stop donating so I won't go. It's as simple as that. Justin will be only one going and not me. So I don't understand why everyone keeps saying they don't want me to go. It doesn't really offend me or matter to me. Justin isn't here to set up his own donation thing. I'm doing this out of MY kindness. Justin went to the hospital for 3 weeks. He informed ESWC he would be there, and they told him he could buy a ticket when he gets out. Turns out right after he left, they told Slasher that there are NO EXCEPTIONS and he MUST have his tickets by June 11th. Justin doesn't know I'm doing this to help him. You guys can bash on me and continue to bash on me all you want but I'm going to try my hardest to get Justin over there.
@People telling us to use our tournament winnings... I'm going to tell you what we use our tournament winnings for. And break it down a little bit more so you guys will understand. Only in May has there been more than 1 MAJOR tournament. Justin usually walks away with a good amount of money. But let's break it down. Let's say.. ECT2:
ECT2 Justin walked away with almost $2500. Plane ticket to ECT for him was $450, hotel rooms for 3 nights was $300, food for 3 days was $50. So that's already $800. So he has $1700 left. His rent in California is $800. And on top of that he gave his grandmother in NY $500 to help her out with her late bill payments (he does this a lot with a lot of his tournament winnings).
So he has $400 left, which he uses to go to SNCR where he pays for 3 days of hotel room which is about another $300. so he has $100 left, SNCR registration was $40+10 each game, he played in CvS2/3S/MVC2/SSF4. He won SSF4 but he also gave $1000 to Ricky Ortiz because of old debts. All this money you guys talk about... It hurts even more to just throw down $1400.
@#67 Stop ... Honestly, this event was not known to us until about a week before. On top of that, we didn't know we were 'invited' til 2 days ago. So they're giving us a week to 'save' up.
@Assassin_Mist my email is marn@sdtekken.com

Hahaha, I don't care if they're douche bags or not, I just think donating money to something like this is beyond stupid. I would love to know the final amount they get. Losing your home in a fire is one thing, getting tickets to go play a video game in France is another.

we are in america! people donate to the most random things. 2 weeks ago I was in San Francisco and I saw a street beggar holding a sign "Every dollar goes to weed, please help". It was the greatest thing I have ever seen, so I gave 5 bucks and other people did too.
I've seen elementary kids ask for money to take field trips, and there is nothing wrong with that.

A lot of homeless people move to SF because of how easy it is. And San Francisco is looked at as one of the worst towns in the US because of the overun homeless. It is not a good thing.
Posted by Marn on June 4, 2010 at 5:58 p.m. #113
@NJCU Or maybe they're not reading and it's actually meant for only Justin to go and not me.
Posted by tmfan on June 4, 2010 at 6:01 p.m. #114
I also want Justin to go. Honestly, he's pretty much the best player in the states and I like watching his matches (although most of them end up being one-sided beatdowns). It's obvious unless you're twelve or living in your mom's basement that tournament earnings can hardly support a living. I guess this is another argument for MLG supporting SSF4. What's the point of being the best if you make less than minimum wage workers?
This question comes up again: can we spend money on better things? Yeah. Did I donate money to Haiti? No. Did I donate to Chris Hu and Justin? Yeah. The reason is that I really don't give a sh*t about some people I don't know suffering in a place I really don't care about. But, I like SF4, so I'll donate to players I like.
@Marn, this site may seem like it's just full of haters, but that's mostly because haters are the loudest of the bunch.
Posted by Axefresh on June 4, 2010 at 6:06 p.m. #115

But I like how you say i'm twisting your words, when youre trying to turn away from your glorious celebration of "i donated to justin cause i'm a moron and don't give a sh*t" post.

I can understand where people are coming from in the sense that you should do everything you can b4 asking 4 dough. Alot of people have full time jobs and in my case kids and still find time after a hard days work to play SF competively and I dont know your and Wongs situation but when word is you niether of you are working its hard to want to donate. Yet im not without compassion and can understand your situation this is a great opportunity n maybe once in a life. IDK I think I will donate but please take this opportunity 2 learn from feedback and you and Wong ever want true respect as players and people ur gunna have to compose yourselves as US SF CHAMPIONS. Unfortunatly most of the SF community are angry selfish noob hating immature people.

Based on Marn's comment @ 107, it sounds to me that being a professional gamer involves a lot of financial stress. It's obvious that sustaining a living based off of these tournaments is not feasible. I don't know about other gaming genres, but it seems like the competitive fighting game scene can't and won't amount to any sustainable livelihood with the exception of some sort of sponsorship. And I seriously don't see that happening unless you can beat the top world players (ie Daigo) on a consistent basis, who is one of the few examples I know that's officially sponsored.
To all of those defending the request for donations, when does it become reasonable for the community to expect the top players to find decent careers that earn $30-$40k to sustain their lives as well as their competitive gaming hobbies? The rest of us work in jobs we don't like or study in schools for careers we won't fully like to support our hobbies, competitive or not. I don't think it's fair for Justin and/or Marn to have the ability to NOT work their assess off in schools or careers that they won't fully enjoy while at the same time asking donations from those who DO work our asses off in schools or careers that we won't fully enjoy. They made that choice to be professional gamers and avoid what we endure on a daily basis. If that's not a feasible way to sustain a livelihood, they better reconsider their career choices instead of begging for donations for one tournament that probably won't even sustain them for a year even if they win.

Anyone know how to contact Shoryuken.com administrators? I registered but they did not send me an activation e-mail and I tried clicking on their contact link but it has been disabled by the administrators?
Is there anyone a member over there can tell them to activate Hitstick [username]account?
Thanks.

As far as many are concern, playing in a tournament Justin participated means donation to Justin Wong. If he never cares to show respect and appreciation to all those opponents who donated money to him in the past.
Marn's math at #107 was plain fraud. Plane ticket and hotel fee should be calculated before the tournament earning, assuming from earning of previous tournament (which it has to be). Hotel room in SNCR costs $69 a night not $100, which means hotel room costs $210, NOT $300, not unless you include the hotel room porns you ordered. SNCR registration is $20+10 NOT $40+10. (Do you believe Justin register on site?). Don't know why $1000 to Ricky Ortiz is included but let's include that. After all the spending and with the earning from MVC2, SSF4, SF3 in SNCR, since ECT2 Justin Wong should have a net gain of little less than $3000 right now. And that's not including all the money matches donation to Justin Wong.
As Marn put it, "It hurts even more to just throw down $1400" That's the reason for the donation. They want their travel expense paid so that it doesn't hurt if they lose. They just want to be TAIL THEY WIN, HEAD YOU LOSE.
Only as if all the suckers/participants doesn't really hurt when they put down $400 ticket to Vegas flying to EVO and pay for the $50+10 donation.
Not that they can't afford it. Justin will go with or without your donation. With no Japanese players in it, he has realistic chances of winning $8000.
Not to mention it doesn't really costs $1400. ESWC will provide complimentary accommodation (bed and breakfast) from June 30th to July 5th. Ticket from West coast to paris should cost around $1000. ~$900 if shop around. You suckers are paying for it anyway.
And if Justin and Marn win something, they HAVE TO PAY BACK DOUBLE to the suckers who've already donated to them, which I don't see that happening either way.
Posted by Marn on June 4, 2010 at 9:41 p.m. #138
Please find me tickets for $900. June 29th to July 5th. I hope you find it because I could only find $1350 round trip. If you find me $900 tickets I'd much appreciate it. I'm pretty sure you won't be able to .
Posted by Marn on June 4, 2010 at 9:46 p.m. #139
Justin will go without people's donations? Think again, he's gone for 2 weeks at the minimum. With no way to contact him and with him having no access to a phone or a computer, and with ESWC wanting itineraries by the 11th, I'm sure he's still going to go. I mean the 11th is only 7 days away. I love how you truly believe Justin is just around doing nothing.
Actually, would you be willing to put down a $5000 bet that Justin won't go to ESWC if he doesnt have his tickets by the 11th? In fact why don't you try to call Justin I'm sure it'll go straight to voice mail. Please don't act like you know Justin more than you really do.

All this talk about donating the money to someone else for another cause is dumb. How many of you will actually do that right now instead of sponsoring wong? This is a fighting game website and not an ethics website. If you want to rant about jobs and stuff in life go join some other website where people talk about this crap.

Maybe if Justin Wong actually acknowledged his fans and didn't ignore them like a complete douchebag. A shy dude like Daigo even has the balls to greet his fans.

Straight up Marn is making all the little whiny babies out there look even less mature then when they cry after they get scrubbed online.
If I had any money at all I would donate, but my job ended in april and the job market, she's not good. what little I have is necessary right now.
Marn, you prove all the haters wrong every time I see you post anywhere, and I hope all these whiny 13 year olds get cancer.
Posted by Axefresh on June 5, 2010 at 12:16 a.m. #147
If I get cancer, I'll feel sad because less people will donate for my chemo than the amount that donates to get J.wong to disneyland to win 10k. but that's the power of dickriding for you.

Justin Wong should get off his ass and get a job.
Posted by liukangstoupee on June 5, 2010 at 1:01 a.m. #149
This is how I see it, in an objective point of view.
It's anyone's right to donate money to charity, or give money to the homeless, or sending some cash to Jwong and Marn so they can attend ESWC. What they do with their money is their own business. If you don't want to give money, it's within your right to do so.
Hating on Marn and Jwong is just pointless. I've never met either of them in real life but some of my friends who met Jwong have good things to say about him. Frankly, it doesn't matter. However, it's perfectly within their right to ask for some help, free country after all.
Now personally, I won't be giving them a dime, not because i have anything against them but because I think they are grown adults and they ought to understand the importance of earning their money, saving their money and prioritize their spending. If Jwong thinks he can get through life playing street fighter, then good luck to him and he should understand the ramifications to go with that decision. But don't expect anyone to feel sympathy when he hits 50 and realizes the cash pools in tournaments won't provide him with the funds to satisfy mortgage payments, his medical expenses, his kids college tuition, etc. Then again, who knows Street fighter can gain popularity much like MMA and he can be raking in half a million bucks to play a match, I doubt that will ever happen though. I'm sure between Empire Arcadia, his buddies on the west coast, and the charity he generates from people he can make it work. Lets hope he doesn't have to take a shot in the mouth in a public bathroom to pay his way.

@ 147 you talk about maturity like you are more mature than the other posters...yet at the end of your post you wish that people who dont support the idea of donating for Justin and Marn to go to france...to get cancer? That makes sense -_-' Cancer is a serious thing not to be joked about tbh you sick fuk.
On the main topic of the donation...its simple. Donate if you feel its important for them to come to france to represent "America", win the money and "give back to the "community"...donate. If you dont agree, dont donate. No one is holding a gun to your head.
Posted by ur3shii on June 5, 2010 at 1:24 a.m. #151
asking for donation when you are still healthy with both hands and feet is a sad thing. i am not rich, but i work my @$$ off for things i have or place i wanted to go. even daigo have a career of some sort; male nurse???. so yeah, play less and go back to school or something. *shrug*

Gotta question some of the folks here talking about Sanford. Dude's just as big a douche as anyone, plus he failed miserably at counter-picking Inthul. Wasn't cool, man. And I'm no fan of Justin's usual demeanor myself. I thought it was real disrespectful the way he looked after Andy OCR beat him. As for Marn I'm told (No idea if true) that he smoked a joint before his match with Valle. Also something that's incredibly disrespectful. I don't particularly want moping dopers repping us in Europe.
My first pick to send over and represent the country would definitely be Valle. A true class act and a pleasure to watch. Maybe send Ross with him. But it's not up to us who goes or anything. I don't know, I still might donate. We all know that Daigo will win the cup, and if he doesn't it'll be that amazing French player whose name escapes me. But if I do donate I just hope Justin and Marn will conduct themselves as respectfully as possible.
Remember guys, you're representing a nation that's paying for you. That's all I ask. I don't care if you're eliminated early, just don't pull that "I'm better than this." look Justin had against Ortiz and in his rematch with Andy, and for Christ's sake don't show up to a big match high off your ass.
Just be respectful.
Posted by Marn on June 5, 2010 at 2:14 a.m. #153
I didn't smoke a joint, I was throwing up from the stress I had before playing FilipinoChamp because he beat me in a money match the day before.
And I am respectful overseas =P.

That's good to hear. You looked dazed and kept facepalming and rubbing your eyes before the Valle match. Gave off a huge stoner-vibe. I'll take your word in good faith though. Might donate tomorrow. And about giving back to the community, have you ever thought about doing technique tutorial videos for advanced play?
I'm sure even the harshest critics would be interested in seeing those.

Donating because I want USA to win. I met Justin, and he seemed nice enough.. Marn, I'm challenging you to RPS next time I see you at a major.
Good luck getting the funds.
Everyone else, if you don't want to donate - don't donate? A little reason why you're not donating is fine, but don't turn it into a huge ethical debate.

I gotta give huge respect to Marn for coming out here and trying to set the record straight. I'll admit; if I saw all those comments, I don't know if I'd bother. 'Hubs Comment Monsters are almost as bad as Stream Monsters.
I don't see what they're supposed doing wrong here; they're not even really asking for the money outright, it's like a loan, or a bet. ONLY if Justin goes and wins no money will it be a charity case. I'd throw you a few bucks but I can't afford to go to my own Evo qualifiers in Ireland, having no job ATM so I'll just wish you all the best with that.
Finally, I don't get why people hate on Marn so much. You say arrogance, I say honesty (and trying to be entertaining while doing it, usually) but either way, the guy can seriously play and he usually puts on some kinda show, especially in Guilty Gear... Marn vs HellMonkey = guaranteed hype. Plus, he's the only pro player I know of who's picked up Dudley and as a Dudley main myself, I can't help but be grateful for that.
Posted by HukGuay on June 5, 2010 at 3:12 a.m. #158
A lot of people think Marn and Wong are cocky but what would happen if everyone at tournaments had daigo's personality. There would be no hype and just head nodding after you win. Sure sometimes Marn and Wong go overboard, but it makes it fun to watch as well.

You people are full of it. This is our biggest problem, instead of helping each other, we down one another. Growing up in my neighborhood, if someone in the community had ANY type of skill; the neighborhood (black hood) would bust its ass trying to help them proceed at it. Is this a community or a website where little girls discuss their problems? If this is a community show it by helping people instead of trash talking them.
On a more personal note. I'd rather see that $14,000 on US soil than anywhere else. Love them or hate them, they're the best chance the US has right now as far as winning that prize money. So stop acting like a bunch of bitches and help these boys.
P.S. Marn stop these folks on this website yours and Justin's business.

@ Marn: Dude you are a bit mean. But it doesnt matter. Charm is not a responsibility for an individual that engages in ultra competitive activities. Bobby Fisher for example was a true douche. Half the players in the American Soccer team are super @zzholes. Kobe Bryant represented the Americans at the Olympics and he even (allegedly) raped a woman once. The community just needs to understand and separate personality and the activity one performs, in your case, SSF4.

I think it's kinda stupid to ask strangers to donate for them to go play in France. Regardless if they're treating gaming as their main source of income, they need to fund their own expenses or find a sponsor to do so. Justin Wong is known to be the U.S. champ for so long. Why can't he go out and find some company to sponsor him? Has he even try? Daigo has Madcat. Why can't Wong get one? Better yet, why can't they save up money to go? Do these people even have jobs? Asking strangers to donate and only to get a refund only if they win the whole thing is stupid. We're basically funding them to play and win prize money for themselves. If they're in a finanical situation like someone stated, then video gaming is something they need to stop and go find a real job to support / save up.

Why do people keep calling Marn a douche?
I've been a stream monster since SSIV was released, and based on what I've seen he doesn't seem like a douche. He may have a tendency to rest on good momentum, but I haven't seen anything to indicate that he's a douche. Has he stolen anyone's girlfriend? Has he kicked a dog? Has he handed an empty water bottle to a vanquished opponent? Does he go around icing bros?
But, here this guy is, asking to help his friend, first and foremost. A douche wouldn't do that. To all of you calling Marn a douche, I urge you to look up the meaning of the word -- and start by looking in the mirror.
Sadly, I have not to give. If I did, you bet I'd donate. All I can offer is encouragement. Good luck!

Hey made a account just for this. God this too funny watching how everyone is getting so mad over a video game donation. Ok first, I work at a Chinese Restaurant and get minimum wage and work 11 hours a day . It is almost always 90 degrees or higher in the resturant because they don't have ac. So should I quit? No in this economy you have to settle for whatever job that is there abd cannot have such high demands. And Marn and Justin, I don't know too much about them but it is time to get a job. One more thing, you guys do not even have one dollar that you have to ask for the whole 1400 fare? I would donate if you say that we are short like a few hundred dollars but you are asking people for the full amount which I don't think is right. My hard warn money will not go towards something like this. Also I miss the days when video game is just a game where people have fun and not be sooo competitive about it. And remember a video game is still just a game and you cannot make a living just playing a game.

@ Marn if this really is you I would donate cuz I love the scene and I think we need to show the rest of the world we got game and we can compete at the top level in stf but I can't right now man good luck to you and jwong and to everyone that hate why? Its a simple yay or naw you don't owe them no reason if they are on a high horse they sure did humble themselves to ask us fellow players for help
And if Justin or Marn win who knows what they will do for the community as a whole. I'am not trying to sound rightious but don't attack Marn for no reason
Posted by Emperor on June 5, 2010 at 10:32 a.m. #170
Yeah I don't attack them for a reason either but what gets me is that they sound like they need us to fianance every penny for this trip which I don't think is reasonable. Come on they got to at least pay some for themselves. I know when I ask for something that cot money, I would at least have some money already and not ask for the full amount to be pay by us HARD WORKING people.

Posted by OmegaZero on June 5, 2010 at 2:02 p.m. #175
@Marn
i got to be honest here, there are 2 things you guys have to understand, first asking for money to go to a tournament in france to try and win money is bad, as legal as it may be, is still a damm abuse, i believe...no i know that you guys will get a lot more than just 2800 buck for putting that paypal account, is a fact that people will donate to you there are hundreds of people that will put this post on any forum they find, simply because is kind of stupid to ask money to people you never get to know, as a joke, or any reason they may have, a mean just look at the comments here they either hate or make fun of you which help you to get this thing on other sites, also a few fanboys take this as a serius thing something like "omg is marn and justin they represent USA they most go there at any cost", by that logic many fools will pay you your little trip, let me get this straight you 2 have been in this for quite a while, and as far as i know getting sponsorship for this kind of tournaments is quite easy on USA been top player that wouldnt be that difficult.
Now for the second point, and the prime reason for doing this whole post, whether your a douche or not, i believe this is no reason to hate you or justin, in fact i think this is the best way to get notice in this kind of industry so i wont go into a nerdrage like some did here, now we know that in the case you people win the big prize there is no guarantee you will give back double every donation, a mean thats just plain stupid, seriusly dont you people have problems already looking for a way to get there in the first place, how exactly do you plan to return that back, that whole comment there just put you into a extremely unreal situation, normal people will never fall for that, now if you want to make and excuse of how justin is sick or something that you have side job's of anything, dont try to back up your reason with problem that anyone in the world have to deal with.
Now for the gamming community do you want proof that this a complete waste of money, then think for a moment, if justin is really that bad and therefore can get in contact with anyone for whatever reason, shouldnt his so call friend marn be there with him giving him support instead of worrying to get to a tournament that will demand them to be at full heal just in case something happen, you people should stop thinking about them representing USA is not a valid reason to be dumm enough and pay a round trip vacations for someone who's not mature enough to see the whole picture and the problem he put on his on self

See alot of the people hating on her are alot of the people who are hating on MLG and not alloying super to get on MLG. You might say I'm wrong but Capcom of Japan is paying more attention to stupid scrubs on this site then actual community members.
Many of you are saying they need to get a job cus Street Fighter wont pay the bills, but alot of other competitive e-sports are making bank for there players. Many of them dont need/have a job and there living very comfortably.
But anyways back to the point...
Alot of yall really looking bad and making this site look bad. Everyone calls the people on this site Eventscrubs for a reason, cus many of you are scrubs. I'm not saying you should donate to these people, what ever you do with your money is not of my business. I would understand if you ask your friends or family for money but random people in the community, kind of strange and om top of it you will not get notice even if you donated like 1000 dollars are Marn and Justin going to mention your name whn they win and say it was all because of this certain person that I was here today. Most likely not because they will be too into their pride at that moment to even know about you. Simply the only thing you get out of this donation is a thanks from Marn and Justin for one second and then when you ask them next time, you remember I was the one that donated a huge portion of your trip to France, they would most likely be like, WHO ARE YOU?
Posted by jwim on June 5, 2010 at 10:16 p.m. #183
first of all.... this thread is dead
second.... if youre gonna give them money then give them money... stupid decision in my opinion
third..... giving people refunds if you win=lamer than asking for money... what about if you lose can they still get a refund....and by you saying that it really means you are begging whichever way you wanna look at it
fourth.... i think if you told people you guys would wear suits to the tournament then they would feel better about giving you money at least this way if you managed to go dressed up if you lost people could be like you remember when marn and wong wore that suit so he wouldnt make all of america look bad

I think I figured out what happened.
1. Justin and Marn got invited to ESWC
2. Justin and Marn can't afford the money required in time
3. Justin has to go into the hospital for 3 weeks
4. Marn wants to help out his friend so try to gather some money
5. Marn though the community would like help too so he asked the community for donation
6. Community disapproves donating money like this
7. Marn realizes the community is not that generous so figures figures out an alternative
8. Alas, it is too late as the forums and threads have already erupted
In conclusion:
1. Marn's original intention were noble although the results didn't seem that way
2. Marn just don't understand people enough to know how they would react
3. Getting a job doesn't solve the problem as the money is required in a week's time
For the future:
1. Don't ask for donation unless it's an emergency.
2. Get a loan or only borrow from friends and family.

How come you guys don't ask your 20+ close tourney friends? If each one gave at least 100 dollars, then Justin will be able to go. Or is it that you take us for stupid asses? I guess you got some already.

Games can be a stable job. Look at pro korean starcraft players. $100k/year if your near the tops. That is insane.

ok 1st off y'all need to chill with all that childish hate. it wont make you look any better. you can say no w/o all that crap. 2nd i gotta give props to Marn for postin comments here. sure its the internet but it does show he may have some character. now that i've said the obvious i'm gonna speak my mind. it would be cool that you & jwong participate in that tourney in france. hell i would love to go to france. also it would be sweet that you & wong win it for USA (obviously the prize money may be in y'all head more often than representin imo) however i just cant donate to that. i got bills to pay. if jwong actually has a job then there would have been a chance that he & you (marn) pooled togeter your finances & go. as its stands...sorry but my answer is no. deadline or not it doesnt excuse the fact why you dont have some kind of job. on a positive note i wish the both of you good luck gettin the money y'all need & also in that tourney. peace :)

i agree with mr. e there is no reason to bash wong and marn for asking the community. if you can't or don't want to then thats all you have to say. tbh im not donating for the fact that i don't help others i really don't know like that unless it's a crisis or emergency ie. house burning ect. so i wish you both luck and it did take a lot of character to come here and post marn so for that i commend you. wish the best of luck to you and wong.

LISTEN!!!
If you guys can't pay your expenses with the money you're making then maybe something is wrong. Justin chose that that lifestyle. No one forced him to do it. Being a professional gamer is HARD WORK. I bet he works his ass off to barely make ends meet. So as his friend Marn, why don't you respect that? You're just degrading him by asking all the people who look up to Justin for loans. Justin is an icon in the street fighter community and as soon as he starts taking money from his fans he starts to become a burden... And that applies if he's taking the money personally or if you are doing it for him.

"Why do people keep calling Marn a douche?
Good luck!"

This site is full of whining internet-brave douchebags. If i could donate without wondering if i'd still be able to afford gas for the week, I would. People around here ask other members of the local community for help getting to tournaments all of the time. Its really common, and not a big deal. I love how people act like the best Street Fighter players drive Bentleys, roll around in mountains of cocaine, and date Victoria's Secret models... They are the best at.. street fighter. They make less than you. You watch the streams, you learn from their videos... help them out, its time to give back. Stop complaining, you f*cking whiners.

Why is the fighting game community so far behind in E-Sports? Looking at sponsorships and prize money I'd almost think this was 2001 not 2010.
