If 3rd Strike succeeds, should Alpha 3 and CvS2 follow?
@2 yeah its insane how well its doing. back in the day when i was playing MVC2 in the arcades it didnt seem like to many people were into it besides the hardcore fighting game fans but now it seems like it has reached a wider audience. im pretty sure the release of all the superhero movies in the past decade have something to do with it as well. good report.
@Zeidust
nope
your forgetting they sell games in other genres though other titles fell short doesn't mean they failed completely and that SSF4 saved their whole business plan
@Clovr
Dead Rising 2 can do gangbusters and with how well it's shaping up it could be a sleeper hit
None? you forget Okami?
Lost Planet has a big impact in japan.
Dead Rising warranted a sequel and spin offs and an apperance by it's main character in TVC
Age of Booty did very well
Flock did very well
Veiwtiful Joe
Devil Kings
all new IP made in the last 10 years that stuck in one way or another
Adveristment on TV= Sales? NOPE
You're being racist....MAJORLY racisgt
FW was a funny character that allow of people do like
Age of Booty a popular Downloadable title, just because you haven't heard of it doesn't mean it's not doing well
Flock is a quirkly little game where you heard a flock of sheep using a UFO
Well you're still wrong I just gave 5 IPs that have caught on and there are only 2 that didn't since clover's demise.
Devil Kings AKA Sengoku Basara which since PS2 release has had 2 sequels an anime and manga
Around the time that MvC3 comes out, two Marvel Studios blockbusters (Thor & Captain America) will be also be on the verge of debuting, so Marvel will be deep in the public consciousness. That game has the potential to be the best selling Capcom fighting game since SFII (although those numbers will be hard to beat). As much as they hate to advertise, Capcom needs to find some way to tie their advertising into the Marvel hype that will be in full swing by then for the movies and make sure that the masses know that MvC3 is coming out.
I'm no big fan of the Marvel series, but I've enjoyed many Capcom games over the years and want them to keep the hits coming. Here's hoping for a better fiscal report next year.
So why even bring up ads? especially when you bring up a game that did very well enough to get a Wiimake(remake using Wiimote functionality and by that logical I'll probably be calling games ported for the Playstation Move "Removes") and a DS spin off?
while the Otaku culture might like it I can probably find a more booming fan base that probably like something more then gaint robots
He hasn't been, whens his last big apperance been? TVC has he appeared since? nope though they did do alittle funny cameo message in Left 4 Dead 2

Try those games you might like them
Sengoku Basara doesn't take it self seriously it is over the top in many ways and is more japanese based then Chinese based
and this is what gets me:
Sales of lost planet 2 were HIGHER than Super Street Fighter 4 though Super Street Fighter 4 came out Earlier(4/27 and LP2 came out 5/11) and had more PR
1.5 million units of LP2 sold
1.3(not Rounding up from 1.35) million units of SSF4 sold
@20
Well any gamer casual or hardcore who is a comic book fan knows about the Marvel vs. Capcom series and sales of the game has never been a problem with it, as a matter of fact it's stronger now since these games are plentful on the counsels where games like MvC could barley play on systems like PSOne for example. Who does'nt want to see their favorite comic book characters go toe to toe? take Tier rankings and Over-powered characters out of the equation and the game from a casual point of view is really fun.
Capcoms worry is not about advertisment, thats easy, they did a remarkable job advertising SF4 and SSF4 in the west and they can do the same with MvC3. The biggest push will be to make MvC3 accessable to both casual and hardcore players EQUALLY in which I think they have already done a great job of so far dispite nay sayers.
I promise you the people buying these games are not hardcore gamers (Yeah they are buying them but it's such a small market) the real buyers are the casual gamers, the parents, the old school gamers who remember street fighter. These are the gamers buying the game. And the same will be for MvC3. Advertisment won't be a problem and they will sell more than enough copies to please the Capcom suits.
Just do your part to promote the game if you want it to sell.
"MVC2 in the arcades it didnt seem like to many people were into it besides the hardcore fighting game fans but now it seems like it has reached a wider audience."
I disagree. When I played in the arcades, the top players would gather late night on the weekends. If I showed up any other time there would always be these random latino guys mashing their heart out with Spider Man or team shoto. MvC2 has always been the best compromise between casual and competitive. Ironically, it also has the biggest gap in skill between the two.
Hopefully if Street Fighter 3 third strike sales enough,(i hope it does),CvsSNK2 should follow,a severely undarrated fun and deep fighting game that was.MvC3 should be a big hit if capcom AND marvel advertise it well enough,especially with a marvel movie coming out around the same time it has alot of potential to be one of capcoms best sellers.
All I can say is WooHoo
