Thanks to Xaznharryx for the tip.
man Gootecks and Mike are both so humble. Mike Ross always compliments people, so does Gootecks. one thing about Gootecks is that ive seen him in at least 3 vids now, and he keeps giving Mike props for coming 4th. respect right there!
@#5: A fair amount of his damage against Daigo was in the form of pinwheel-happy pinwheels that happened to land. He hit-confirmed very few of his attacks in general before launching into things like pinwheels. Juri takes a fair amount more spot-reaction than that guy was showing, in order to quickly follow-up on hit-confirmed pokes for extra damage, since pokes are the only thing she really does above-average.
@Jar/#7
That was the thing about it, the guy could time some of the pinwheels but a lot seemed like jumping the gun without a sign of even a bait from Daigo beside his spacing stutter step which anyone knows from watching Daigo doesn't mean he's open. He should have gone for the hit-confirms into Pins instead of random pins which if you do you can expect to get beat especially by daigo
Their explanation with Juri's counter lack some stuff. You can input a direction only if it's the EX version. For the normal counter, the direction depends on the button pressed.

I thought these videos were a good idea originally but I'm not sure they are commenting on the right things e.g. at 4:26 there is a crazy reset, and there is virtually no recognition of it!
Plus, I think they should stick to mid-level game play and suggest what people could have done better rather than showing daigo's games which have far too much depth to be analyzable in under 10 minutes.
I just don't know if I understand the intended audience or function of these videos. It seems like they're inconsistent with what they like to point out and what they don't. I have to say though the videos are a great idea, especially if ross and gootecks switch over to MvC3 when it comes out.
I just wish gootecks would go back to podcasting, and also get back on the horse in tourneys.
I'd hardly call that pinwheel happy but I did overuse them and the majority of them were poorly placed. I got psyched by Daigo and didn't stick to my game plan. Didn't use Fuhajin's for zoning and pressure until the last set and I didn't beat into my head at how Daigo was punishing a lot of my pinwheels. I'll break down my though process on the match.
2:24 I opt to start with Fuhajin's since I figured Daigo was going to do fireball zoning from farther away. At the distance he was that strategy wasn't going to work.
2:27 I tried to do instant dive kick to punish a fireball but I didn't get enough height.
2:28+ I'm trying to play the footsie game. Should have used c.Strong, s.Forward, and fuhajin to stuff c.Forward
3:16 Suppose to be instant dive kick
3:20 Bad jump in and I don't care if it worked. It was still bad.
3:22 I try to do footsies by walking back slightly to have Daigo do c.Forward so I could stuff it with my c.foward into short pinwheel. I had it at max distance and so its safe since it's -4 and his c.forward is 5 frames I was presing buttons and got hit.
3:26 I put Daigo on going for c.Forward after pinwheels so I take a risk and go for a frame trap with EX Pinwheel
3:33 I somehow get negative edge into Katsushi
3:35 The EX fireball was not thrown out for no reason. Juri recovers instantly after the fireball so I wanted to keep Daigo in the corner. I can dash in and if he jumps I can c.Strong if he blocks I'm at +frames for pressure
3:41 Shave Fuhajin stored instead
4:25 EX Pinwheel because I saw Daigo walk forward and I placed a read that he was going to do c.Forward. Daigo could have done Super at that point but opts to save meter.
4:27 My favorite mix up I use after AA c.Strong. Should have used EX Pinwheel to end the match.
4:29 I should have dashed in but I froze.
4:30+ I'm getting desperate and want chip damage.
4:33 I get lucky and Daigo whiffs his DP.
4:45 I go for a jump in but because I like to hold back when I do my jumping attack I get dive kick instead.
4:52 Bad jump in and even worse block string. Should have ended it in Fuhajin store and not pinwheel.
4:54 Daigo being Daigo and from there I get steam rolled.
5:43 Daigo is in my head at this point with his footsies and spacing. I can't get a feel for an opening.
5:53 That EX Katsushi was suppose to be upforward and not straight up. I would have landed the nj.RH, c.Forward, RH Pinwheel to put Daigo in the corner. Bad combo but because I wasn't expecting the straight up counter I psych myself out and do c.shortxxshort pinwheel
5:54 Another bad pinwheel block string and I think Daigo didn't do c.Forward punish because he was afraid I might do EX Pinwheel again.
6:16 I get momentum and confidence to start playing my footsie game.
6:24 I place Daigo on doing a Hadouken hence dive kick and I definitely did not want the 2nd impact to come out at that point.
6:35 EX Pinwheel here because Daigo did nothing but walk forward c.forward on me and I put a read that he was going to do it again.
7:00 I kick myself over this pinwheel. What I should have done is EX Fuhajin and then opt to pressure Daigo to build meter for EX Pinwheel for chip damage. I could have also gone for an overhead
but I think he would have DP'd on reaction and I don't know if I could have baited that DP.
Juri's strength is her zoning and footsies. She can do small bursts of damage but can't really rush down or mix up that much. Your basically relying on spacing and footsies. She has a couple of tricks and some good damage combos but I couldn't find the opportunity to use them on Daigo because he played a very solid ground game and rarely jumped at me.
#12 i agree. not very indepth. seems like a waste of time for whoever watches it and whoever made it. i understand wanting to create community content but this seems like self promotion. having the afterhours matches uploaded on youtube is more helpful. You dont need to see these Guy's faces every 30 seconds, especially if they dont have anything insightful to add.
I love this show by Gootecks and Mike Ross but I never understood why they had to sit so close. Can't they sit farther apart and have the camera zoom out? Whenever they face each other to talk, they always seem to pull their heads back to prevent spitting at each other.
Awesome
