It appears that Ryu is a playable character in this game and also a Darkstalkers cabinet is shown too, so it's possible some of the fighters from that series will be selectable as well.
its this going to be something like the http://supermariobroscrossover.com/ ????
i doubt this is the big announcement. but the guy from ghouls and ghost or watevr its called is in this. more exciting than ryu to tell you the truth.
Reminded me of "Bump in the Night" - not sure if that's a good or a bad thing.
I wonder if it'll play like a mix of Little Big Planet and, uhh... more? Hahaha, I'unno, Capcom's been doing great work as of late, so I'm happy to see a new game incoming.
As for the SDCC announcement... Darkstalkers has been denied, CvS3 denied... Tekken vs Street Fighter would be terribad. Hoping for a Capcom Fighting Jam follow-up, with fighters from all (or at least many) of Capcom's games.
...or Rival Schools. :D
@SmoothJK
This may seem like it's aimed towards "10-year-olds," but if you take a closer look you'll see that it's probably otherwise.
1. Most little kids don't have the mental capacity to beat any Mega Man games (at least that's how I feel). This said, the appearance of Cut Man and showing that Mega Man could use his ability (you have to beat the level to obtain his ability, which isn't easy for younger kids) could only be appealing to the older demographic. Also, Cut Man's most popular game is Mega Man 1 which is obviously the "oldest" Mega Man game.
2. Pretty much the same story with Arthur from Ghosts n' Goblins.
capcom keep on dissapointing me over and over again, yes this make me mad, megaman universe sounds like a cool idea, but really, this have to stop, no more dumm updates for super street fighter 4, that thing have gone to far let the money go just for once, give your fans what they really want, give of the MEGAMAN X9 FOR HEAVEN SAKE!, i want to see the elf war at its peak, 80% of reploid wipe out and 60% of humanity oblitarated on the most bloody war of the entire megaman franchise, make it happen capcom, we got enough of street 4, you fail at Mvc3 character design, make something right just this once
@19
You don't represent all their fans... and you don't seem like a very loyal one, at that. While X9 would be cool, they've got their current projects. Appreciate the ones you can, and go be a hater about the rest somewhere else. :P
++++++++
I wonder if they'll be utilizing the PS Eye, so you can show an item, or maybe even drawing, and somehow get an ability or equipment from it. Kinda like Monster Rancher with the discs.
I still think it'll be interesting, whatever it ends up being.
This is more interesting too me than ssf4 atm , shoot idc if this is the game announcement , anytihng new that i can get into.
Although i was expecting gameplay , not some dumb 1980's commercial.
I geeked out so hard, Bionic Commando Arcade stand up, Cutsman, Arthur, then Ryu's theme,Megaman 1's american box art apperance and megman 9's sprite appearance, and of course the death sounds even the Hadouken midi
and I think the minibosses did the music I can't really tell
I'm waiting for actual gameplay before I judge but if nathan spencer in it I'm going to play.
I'm hype because of being a big Megaman fan. I wonder what this is, having Ryu, Arthur, etc. in it but being a Megaman game? HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!
And cool, stop-motion instead of CGI (even though it might still be, given stuff like Avatar or TF nowadays)
@20, stfu, you old ass bastard! that comment pissed me off! when i was ten, i played every thing (i'm 17 now) from final fantasy to megaman to halo! i beat the crap out of every RPG i've ever touched since i was 9 (Starting with Chrono Trigger on my dads super nintendo, then final fantasy xi), and i was beating the megaman x games for fun since x4 came out on the playstation. AND the original 1-8 on that megaman collection for the gamecube when i was 11. people asked me for help with their games since i was 10, too. seriously, old people like to talk that smack when they're with other old people, but hand me the controler, watch what happens. halo, streetfighter, tekken, mortal kombat, random sports games, any fighter i get 2 minutes to learn the controls for, anything, and i make people quit playing the game. literally quit. my dad, neighbors, uncles, my mom, my aunts; no one can play halo, tekken, or street fighter when i'm around. they won't let me play magic with them, or any of their other card games neither cause they need to keep some dignity. no lie. i hate it when old people assume kids can't play because they watch some 9 yr old who's never touched a controller try to play something like megaman. that's like me assuming all old people are ornery, smell like they just crapped themselves, and can't remember who their family members are because i saw an old dude in the hospital like that. dammit, i'm pissed. i'm gonna get my dad to come play street fighter now, need to work off some aggression. consider yourself lucky you're don't live nearby, you would have no dignity as a gamer since i turned 10.
@39 You're pretty cool because you're.. really not.
I need to see more of this megaman game before I can assume anything. I love how the guy from ghosts and ghouls is in though. that game was tight.
You know Zidiane I used to know a lot of people in that age group who acted and said the same stuff (I to a less arrogant degree was one myself). Fact is usually people like you are reasonably skilled and may even do ok in a local tournament, but once you step out of your personal area you start to see people who make you feel helpless. Overcoming that is where the super talented are born.
Ranting aside making large sweeping statements about any demographic is foolish as it will never be 100% true. But, to say "most" (keyword: not all) people (and very often young children) are less likely to be able to finish a megaman game nowadays is fairly accurate.
Everyone of us who actually puts a lot of time into games could probably finish any megaman game. Heck every place has people that will put time into a hobby.
Stupid riff raff aside this has a lot of components for a good sounding game and I don't even know how it plays yet! Gey Hype!
@45, if he had said it like you did, i wouldn't have been offended in the least. younger kids (8-13) still have trouble with reflexes and whatnot. maybe it was the word 'shiitheads', but it really rubbed me the wrong way. i actually live nowhere near any type of arcade anything, and i can't find many peple in my city who are always able to play anything. my uncle and my father went to tournaments and stuff, always getting around 5th and 9th respectively, when i was around 13, but not anymore since i got good. they also refuse to bring me, "Why should i pay for gas so that you can go pay more of my money to possibly win some money?" is his excuse. but, yeah, i tried to go to a street fighter tournament last month, and i got so nervous i got perfected twice in a row. i righted myself, then won a match and a half, before he finished me off. he ended up wining, so yeah.
Mega Man haters need to GTFO. Remember that Easy Mode BS on Mega Man 10? I swear noobs these days...
why cant capcom just remake megaman x4-x6 keep everything the same except the grapichs and no 3d bullcrap. x4-x6 were what megaman needed to be but later series werent so good just hope they remake it pretty sure alot of people would buy it
@39 Oh you young whipper snappers and your flagrant disregard of proper punctuation and conversational writing style. Obviously my comment was meant to be taken in jest, because to accuse such a large demographic of "having heads filled with fecal matter" would be foolhardy. Please let me apologize for my earlier hyperbolic pejorative assertion. Clearly I had imbibed one too many elixirs I had procured at the apothecary. It has become clear to me now that children of the current time period are not excrement heads. They are merely goat wankers.
"why cant capcom just remake megaman x4-x6 keep everything the same except the grapichs and no 3d bullcrap." <-- You are the cancer killing videogames. Stop asking for the same crap all the time. This generation has been 50% remakes and 40% sequels anyway (10% for new IPs). The Zero-series was the true continuation anyway. You can try a remade MMX with Maverick Hunter X for the PSP and tell me if you REALLY like it. I dare you to say it's better than the original!
As for the video, I'm just glad the game won't look like the trailer. Looks way too Ctrl+Alt+Del for my tastes.
What is it? Is it a new saga in the Megaman series like Megaman Zero or Megaman X or the old 8-bit series? I hope it is it's own fighter series. The Megaman brand has way over 100 + characters ranging from bosses to characters. I can see them developing a fighting game called Megaman Universe.
@41
Its so obvious you were trying to sound cool =P
@52, thank you. 'goat wankers' is insulting, but 'shiitheads' was offensive. it still bothers me that you're judging the entire age group, but old people tend to have cemented mindsets. i am glad that hearing my story upgraded your view on all 10 yr olds. like adding my grade drastically brought up the class. and anyway, i write how i write. i'll defecate on any writing style if it's boring. i actually learned most of my words and writing style from RPG's. i've always thought english class was boring, so i ignored it.
@55, i honestly wasn't trying to sound cool at all. i had to make a point, and i used my life as an example. i'm sorry if you thought my gamer life story was me being cool, but that's just what my younger life was like... not that i'm much older. you see, when all the gaming adults around you, from the time you can hold a controller, proceed to kick the living shiit out of you in every video game you want to play, and if you have a high IQ (Not insanely high, just around above average) coupled with extreme patience, you get someone like me. well, it might also have something to do with the fact i was playing sonic since i was 3. and i think the moment my dad quit street fighter was when i beat him with only one hand. it wasn't an overwhelming victory, it was pretty much even. his best tactic now is some old trick called "smack the controller out your opponents hand"
Wooow, this is a pretty hot circus of comments, most of which not even discussing the post itself. Way to fly off-topic!
The more I think about what this game -could- be, the more excited I get... and scared, haha. Here's hoping Capcom blows us all away!
PS - Zidiane is a doodoohead. :(
As a fan of Megaman, this is pretty interesting. They haven't really done much with Megaman as of late. Not counting the Zero collection and Megaman 9 and 10, which really are just for nostalgia, there hasn't been anything new. Hopefully, Megaman Universe will do something completely different to reinvent the series.
Or, just release a Megaman game with every boss and every level for them, play them in any order, and have every weapon available upon beating a Robot Master to use anytime. Add some more Capcom characters to play as. Keep it 8 bit if they want, I'm cool with that. That would be awesome.
This is cool and all, but i have a question, where the @#%$ is megaman legends 3?
@19
You do realize that they announced that Super is the last in the SF4 series? Why are you complaining like they're up to the fourth part in the SF4 series? And the punk type of view you're taking on this really says, do you really deserve Megaman X9?
@61
seem like you dont know how to read right? did i say stop doing remakes of SF4 i say no more updates, that means, no more dlc, no more special costumes, no more chances to try and fix certain things so the game get more balance when in fact is pretty unbalanced, as for the megaman x9, think for a moment, doing something the audience has been waiting for years will get them a huge income of money, the fact capcom focus so hard on super 4 is because it got to much attention due to been the firts fighting game, now is more of a fanaticism, there better fighting games out there, but street fighter got the attention for the wrong reasons.
Anyway megaman universe still look like a cool idea, but a dissapoint at the same time, since people would rather see the continuation of other games rather than something that will pretty much be a cool game but not a memorable one, the publicuty made on this teaser is in fact directed to the casual public, is a smart move do, we see what capcom do with this maybe they give us a something of interest.
@62, about megaman x9, that won't happen without a lot more platform megaman attention from the younger generations. they killed it wit x7. the only people who got x8 after that were true fans. so they need to pull the younger generations and some lost low-level fans back before x9 is possible.
money makes the world go round.
@52 stfu u bum u have no heart to gaming if u did ur dumass wouldve agreed so fuk up and let people say what they want this commenting aint for dicks like u to mock peoples comments u fuking bum
What a bit of a let down ;<
But still pretty cool I guess
