Seth Killian jumped on the Unity Boards to shoot down one of the rumors floating around about Marvel vs. Capcom 3, and Christian Svensson clarified again what they're looking for in the fighters they pick to add to the title.
It's been said that Seth Killian mentioned that Chris Redfield was indicative of the kind of characters you'll see from Capcom's side for Marvel vs. Capcom 3. Does this mean characters like Viewtiful Joe, Phoenix Wright, Tron Bonne etc. have no hope? — Chabiko
Seth: Not really sure what you're referring to (there's a lot of "Seth said that..." that never has any actual quotes or links :P) but regardless, it doesn't mean anything about the chances of the characters you mentioned either way.
Capcom characters for MvC3 are based on a number of considerations, including playstyle, popularity with fans/randomness, how they fit into the game overall with the Marvel side, and just who everyone on the team happens to like.
Bottom line: I don't think you'll get very far trying to use the currently revealed characters as a basis for speculation about other characters, so don't worry based on what you've seen so far.
How are the characters that get in MvC3 decided on? Is it by developer preference, or is it the characters most often requested by fans? — Wolfe Mann
Sven: Yes. (it's both).
That first question is stupid. I've never heard Seth say anything like that, and even if he did, it doesn't make any sense.
All characters are similar to Chris? What? If so, how do you jump to Phoenix Wright from Chris? This is stupid. People need to settle down and just wait until more characters are revealed.
Black Panther would be awesome, I'd like to personally nominate Daredevil, Iron Fist, and Luke Cage.
i just really want them to put protoman in .. he would be sooo cooll
And yet again Capcom twists the knife in the Talbain fanbase's backs. I mean, they already pretend that Darkstalkers doesn't exist, and the only males they ever use are Jedah, Anakaris, or Demitri. Every time they say that it's based on both fans and developers, it's a double whammy of why Talbain will never be in, because the developers would rather fap to Felicia and Morrigan in a new game than put someone cool like Talbain, and most of Capcom's fans either don't know what Darkstalkers is, or hate on Talbain for myriad stupid reasons, calling him unoriginal and uninteresting despite being very original and interesting
tldr: I want Talbain, but he'll never get in because the devs hate him, and the Japanese hate him, and those 2 will always take precedence on American fans (which, most Darkstalkers fans worldwide hate him for fake reasons).
@12 Mega Man 7 had Mega Man's armor literally launch his fist. I still think Phoenix Wright should make the cut since the demand is high and he's colorful.
@15 You know Capcom want to show off eye candy for his suit lol. He'll probably make the cut. Personally I want to see everyone's 2nd favorite psychopath Carnage make it in as well Mega Man X with armor swapping instead of weapon changes. Giga Armor (X2), Hyper armor (X3), Shadow armor (X6), and Ultimate Armor (X4) gets my votes
@10
I don't dislike the way he looks (in fact I think he looks pretty cool) but I think the way Talbain plays really doesn't fit the look at all. I would prefer he be left out than be included as is. He needs to have claw and bite attacks, not stupid "energy ball around him while he dashes" attacks.
Am I the only one who is a bit fed up with all this doubt in a game nearly a year before it's actuall release? It's early days yet so all will change anyway.
