I'm guessing the female tourney will have maybe 30 to 50 people in it whereas a 3S or MvC2 tourney would have several hundred people in it each. idk what they're thinking by doing one tiny event instead of two huge events. Do they not have the space? Or do they not like money?

I think they're just trying to get more women into the tournament scene. Which is good in a way, but it comes at the expense of other (in my opinion) better tournaments.
Don't get me wrong, I'll still probably enjoy their tournament, but not as much as say, a 3s tournament.

If the turnout sucks you can bet Marvel will make a comeback. To all the fellow Marvel players of ten years: There are only so many functioning DCs to actually play Marvel on. Femme Fatale is stupid. Maybe watching girls do other stuff is fun, but what does it matter with gaming? Their actions on-screen aren't any different than a guy's. Disappointing EVO line-up. The Femme Fatal tournament is the worst part as they could participate in the main SF4 event instead of receiving special treatment. Third Strike would be a better replacement.

Good to see 3S eliminated from the scene, nobody plays that game anymore, last year like 60 people played it. MVC2 was doomed since TVC has been released. Tekken 6 replaces SC4.

For one I don't really understand the extreme hate against the Dreamcasts, mine's never crash ever and I've own it for many years, I know some have malfunctioned but I'll be glad to donate my DC for the evo finals.
I hate to say it but, I can't even imagine the possibility of waiting through all these random games, TVC, possibly melty blood to see the finals of SFIV(the main event)
A picture is appearing in my eyes and I don't like it. Evo used to be a tournament for the players by the players, but what I see right now is too much corporate booty smooching. TVC scene is very small, heck the game just came out like a week ago, and its being announced as an official game? Whereas MvC2 must be played on ps3 because otherwise capcom would get mad, give me a friggin break.
2 tourneys for SSFIV? possibility of melty blood (aka pedo fighter) just because a bunch of fat kids were real loud at a major tourney? (did any of you remember how loud the mvc2 pools were?) 3rd strike I can sort of understand but even that was more hype that BB if you put it that way.
To be honest G.A.M.M.E. tournament in Miami is actually a lot more hype than evo, those guys are doing everything right.
I love Evo and I was looking forward to attending but I'm just not feeling it, I'm really not.

What the hell? People seem to be forgetting that one of the most famous fighting game moments (if not THE most famous) happened in 3S at EVO. Full parry into 40% combo with a sliver of health left. That just can't be done in any other game. How bout the organizers actually ask some of the japanese 3S players to come this year, unlike the boring all american tourney last year. Get KO, KSK, and whoever else back here so they can whoop some ass. The 3S scene is alive and well in Japan, and it's still the most technical Street Fighter ever made.

I actually think the Femme Fatal Tourney for SF4 is a great idea. There are a lot of girl gamers out there that do play this game, and while maybe not at a high caliber as the pro players, still pretty well.

I'm all for female competitors in the tournament, but I believe every player should be bunched up together. Honestly I think that if I was a girl I'd be offended that the organizers think girls need special conditions to win.

In all seriousness, maybe the all-female tournament will encourage female players who feel weird about getting into fighting games. They shouldn't. These are competitive activities where girls have a fair shot.

Sf4 replacing 3rd Strike, TvC replacing MvC. is it me or are the good games with deep learning curves being replace by slow games or button mashers. SSF4 will be faster but it wont be a 3rd strike. TvC and BB are not direct sequels of MvC2 and GG, that type of sequels are called spiritual sequels; This means same gameplay, somewhat same setting and (often) made by the same developers.

You know unproven games have been added to evo before right? Evo dropped 3s one year, then the 3s community rallied up and demanded there game be put back in the line-up, which it was (cue daigo moment).
Virtua Fighter (small but dedicated scene) has been in evo for 3 years.
Mario Kart DS was in there for a year
GG was taken out for a year, then they did the same thing that the 3s players did.
Evo tries out new games from time to time, and with a bunch of new games out, why not try a different line up? (femme fatale street fighter is stupid, however). And, you have a chance to voice your opinion on the srk forums to choose the last game they'll have.

Third strike is gonna win the poll...SFIV tourney is gonna rule. MVC2 should be kept out since there is no longer anything competetive about it. Its either u start an infinite combo with magneto, sentinel, or storm or u lose the match. Not fun to watch at all.
TVC will def make things more interesting because we wont be seein the same 4 characters, which pisses me off.
I wish they would put Accent core in there however. No offense to BlazBlue, I mean ni own the game, but I would much rather see slayer, jam, baiken, Venom then Tao, Litchi, Jin and ragna

because hdr had more entrants than both of those games, and because the sf2 series is a fast tournament game to run.
Last year, evo had 1000 for sf4, and the second amount of entrants was hdr with 300

Know who the f*ck you are talking to before talking sh*t. I only play MvC, the original and thus far it's the only fighter of its kind that I enjoy. I have not once even played TvC, but that doesn't mean I will try to cry and b*tch when I don't get my way. Video Games like 3S and MvC2 are great to most gamers. The proof is shown with how long they've remained in the fighting scene. Obviously as shown with my previous comment, I personally hate MvC2 but I Love 3S as much as I Love every Street Fighter game. As I also stated previously though, it's time to let go and let new competition in, no matter what style. This style of EVO never happened yet but you want to shut it down or change it back without even giving it a try? Grow up. Oh, and one last thing, if I were to ever play TvC I'd make sure to use a Classic Controller. I pretty much loath the standard Wiimote mainly for the issue of it feeling broken, especially with a fighting game. No more stupid comments, kthnxbai.

I personally think it's due to the amount on entrants last year, as well as character variety , which is why 3s is out (if you ignore how their lineup is all current gen titles). For MVC2, They got rid of all their dreamcasts, and the port isn't 100 accurate. Still, up to the players to vote one of those games in.

Well, the way to end the whole "My game is getting left out of EVO" debate is to have the smaller tournies feature all the fighting games being "left out" leading up to EVO and have the grand finals for those games at EVO. Best five out of seven to determine who will wear the championship belt. That way, the smaller tournies get some hype, EVO gets some hype and no game gets left out in the cold..

Most major tournies have a big game as it is. NEC (Philly) is the Melty blood major event, Final Round (GA) is the KOF and Tekken showcase, NorCal Regionals is big for Tekken and CVS2, and Seasons Beatings (OH) is the big Marvel tourney

sports is different because there are more physical requirements for sports (imagine the nhl with female players or the nfl... wouldn't be fun to watch). Video games, poker, and card games are more mental, where there is no difference between the sexes.

The difference being that gaming isn't a real physical sport.
It's more in the same category as chess.
Males don't have an advantage over females with gaming.
If anything,females have an edge over mals,lol,because they can process more things at a time.

You people DO realize that Tatsunoko Vs Capcom is the replacement for Marvel right? It's technically the sequel to Marvel, and looking at the line up, EVO wants the most recent games to be played for the tournaments.

SC4 should come back it had one year...andmade a nice impression on ppl new to it and ppl who had forgot about it.
Marvel and 3S are classics that should still be in as well.
Same with GuiltyGear but i guess they based it on the amount of ppl who participated and watched(via the stream) even so they could make space for them.
And for the ppl saying what about SSB's. Kill the request for Brawl, it was a fail most of the competitive edge was taken out. So if they bring back SSB's it should be melee

Why the hell are they hosting Calamity Trigger? CS in all likelihood will be out by then. Most of the good players live near arcades and will not want to play CT again any time soon. Most of the rest of the good players will be willing to play the pirated arcade version on the PC. And then the rest who rely on consoles will probably get to play CS a month prior to Evo, if not more. I highly doubt that many people would be willing to play CT again.
Put in another player's choice tournament instead if you're not going to do CS.
Also, I heard that last year there was a BB set up off of a Windows XP laptop. Sounds a lot like...

3s is fun, matchups can be so very one sided but fun.
both of those have been out for 10 plus years. time to move on.
TvC is fun, 2v2 like MvC1. balancing and new mechanics. Tyr it before you hate.

Sales don't mean a game is not broken. Even after so many milking it out to every system, even Gameboy Color. Calling things Double Upper or Hyper by the end of it, they didn't fix the balance and all kinds of nonsense.

SoulCal4 is shiet at tournament-level because of ivy-bs
MvsC2 is shiet because less than 8 characters are useful.
ThirdStrike is shiet at tournament-level because of all the american players making the matches boring.
GG is shiet because BB is better.(hehe i don't really know why it's out, probably because of it's small following compared to the other known games)

I don't give sh*t about what any other dumb a*s is saying even on my side as there are a lot of them acting as idiotic as these butt hurt clowns. It's not about who plays what still or if 3S is a good game. It's a Superb game in my opinion and obviously since it still has a very solid fanbase. However, it doesn't make SFIV a bad game nor will it bring down the success that SSFIV will most likely have. The point is that 3S had its fame and for a damn good long time. EVO wants to bring the newer stuff in now. Is it that big of a deal? Really? Over a video game? Just chill, alright? 3S will win the game vote and be at EVO anyway and TvC players will use TE Sticks as will most of the SSFIV players so again, enough heckling, and jeez stop turning video games against eachother! They were all made at different times in the best ways possible during that time and are meant for entertainment, not silly flame wars.
