The Collector's edition will be in a metal tin, it will come with a the game, and a DVD movie for Xbox only, but the PS3 will get the soundtrack for all the character themes instead of the movie.

The game will be released on 4-28-2010 in Japan, no word on the USA date. The costumes will cost extra in Japan unless you buy the collector's edition.

Afro Samurai is not in the game, the studio that made Afro Samurai is producing the anime however.

KOTAKU MADE A MISTAKE!

Kotaku at first said Afro Samurai was gonna be exclusive in the 360 version. I'm guessing they translated wrong because they later changed it to say that the makers of afro samurai will be behind the anime, and the anime is 360 exclusive. That is what they meant.

That price better go down for the NA release. When we were told the game wouldn't be full price, I thought the discount would be at least $20, not $5. And the anime is 360 exclusive? WTF? I love Gonzo (Afro Samurai and Basilisk FTW) but why is Capcom shafting PS3 users? The japanese company isn't giving the japanese produced anime to the dominant japanese console? As for the new release date and markup price tag, I will save my final thoughts once the product is out and thoroughly tested/played.

Bottom line:
1) If the overall game is better (balanced) and the Tazmania Armagedon among other ridiculous 2nd Ultra is a "no show" then no probs on the delay.

2) If the alt customes, bonus stages, and most importantly online gaming experience (connectivity and options) run smoothly then the markup is warranted.

That said, if neither of these come through then to "hELF with" and "fAWk" CapcOMb.

(BTW - I have always liked SF out of all the fighting games made to date but sometimes the "stunt" they pull just rub me the wrong way. End of rant.)

Ugh! Who did Capcom consult for ideas? Kindergardners. Sheesh! So lame. And I have always thought SF was a bit more serious, at least in terms of its demographics - target audience/consumers. Am disappointed with the majority of alt. customes thus far. And don't get me started on some of the new ultras either.

I can understand a few of the "clown" cast - namely Dan. I will even overlook Blanka. But seriously, Dhalsim, Gen, Gief, Cammy, and who knows who else, that is getting a bit retarded. Maybe some of the developers and production staff are challenged. Who knows? Sure looks that way with this iteration and the things - most of the alt. customes and ultras - that has been shown.

It was all going along quite fine...
Arcade SF4 (and its consumer conversions) has a touch of class and refinement about it.
Things started going downhill when they turned their back on the Japanese, Asian & Ocenianic communities by bypassing the arcade version of Super (hence capcom isolating themselves from golden feedback/research & development they would normally get)
Now we will get xbox live fischer price products.
It's the way things are going to go unless people wake up soon.

A little dissapointed on the big release. I want Ibuki, but I can wait. I'm not really interested in flashy new ultras so much as I am worried about the balance of the game. Don't care about a soundtrack that should be on the game (I mean even brawl has the game soundtrack on the disc). Don't care about the DVD, really want them to take out the tazmanian devil, and somebody tell me why ryu has the metsu shoryu, that supposedly gave sagat the scar on his chest, yet he never touches their chest. Release date? cool now we know and was expected becasue of the fiscal report and all the other games coming out. GOW3, FFXII etc.

Now what I' frustrated about is that the big announcement was not the final 4 characters. i kind of anticipated this as well since release will not be until late april so capcom still have nearly 3 more months of hype to accomplish.

And the trailer swere sub par as well they showed off all the " returning " characters and that's probably it no different than when the first revelad Cody, Adon, and guy, same script almost.

to everyone complaining about price and content please STFU - We're lucky to be even gettin this game, cos let's face it, it's not a huge money spinner for Capcom (especially compared to their other games). About this News to SSFIV: New anime? Sure. I've seen the Afro Samurai, so this'll be cool. Perhaps they'll give SSFIV a storyline, rather than what SFIV had. Tho Japan only makes me sad. Costumes? Capcoms way of getting money. They know full well that they will get more money from them than they spent making them, so power to them. The exclusive thing gets me a tad, but most everyone will steal it. Capcom knows this and would rather not spend the money to produce it on both consoles just to have it be widely overlooked anyway, which is probably why it most likely wont be going elsewhere.

Personally, people should stop complaining about the little things. They make this for people who care, cause they're already taking a hit on this with its supposed cheapness. This game already has more characters being added to it than 2nd Impact and 3rd strike combined (8-10) You shouldn't judge the 2nd Ultras till you've used them. I thought Metsu Hadouken was friggen worthless until I saw it could be comboed into. Better online mode, lobbies for playing all my general peeps whilst conversating like I used to when I lived by em, new soundtrack, and a bunch of other little perks that are fun when you arent playing hardcore, which a lot of people dont. This is a noobs wetdream as well as a vet's update.

That aside, Where the *bleep* are my Makoto, Dud and Ibuki?

I don't understand the complaining. Why are people acting surprised that they'd have to pay for new costumes? Why would you expect them for free?

There are a lot of people saying "THE EXTRAS ARE ONLY TO GET MONEY" and "DON'T BUY THEM." @183 they care because 1) Seth Killian said it would be hella easy to convert existing SFIV Cabs into Super IV cabs and 2) The US (and the rest of the world) has a fairly good amount of SFIV cabs for an arcade game that was only officially released in Japan.

Cool: April's sooner than I expected, so I'm happy on that front. I also don't really see what everyone's problems with the alt costumes are. It seems like it'd take a more mature mindset to to be able to laugh at these characters, who are inherently kind of silly to begin with. It seems like people have on their nostalgia glasses, and are perceiving these characters as being 'cooler' than they actually are. Look at Guile's hair. He's got got a small American flag tattooed on BOTH biceps. One of his moves has him hover a small distance above the ground and kick at you UPSIDE DOWN. Lighten up.

Bitch: The American cover art is kind of slapdash. Maybe ten minutes in Photoshop? Don't know why they couldn't give us a modified Japanese version.

1 - xbox sold more because it was released like 2 years earlier and people hopped the 'next-gen' train (and price is also factor).

2 - you pay for online service dumbass,if xbox's service is worse than ps3's then that would be illogical.
Besides,I'm playing all my games lag-free so I don't really care about those xbox live features.

3 - just a matter of preference.

And for some reason I have the feeling that you'd wish you had a ps3 but you're one of those people who hopped the next-gen train back in 2005.

it's funny i bought a ps3 late last year so i could play my fighting games with a proper controller (blazblu ssf4 etc)as well as ps3 exclusives only to have it stolen 2 weeks before Christmas leaving me with only a xbox 360 which they didn't see fit to steal or the games i had and not even the ps3 controller ,but anyway I'm planning on getting another ps3 around early April so it sucks for me because i don't intend on buying it for my xbox

Paying for a service isn't always better.
For example Xbox Live! is no longer secure as it claims to be.
For the last few months they have had nothing but trouble with Modern Warfare 2 hacks. This is because the console is insecure and has been hacked to run backups. Same with the Wii.

The PS3 does not suffer from this issue. Zero revenue leakage.
Sony just needs to revoke Capcom's publishing license. :)

Let me state that I have always loved the SF series, but so far I'm disappointed in a few things.

First of all some of the costumes are a bit uninspired. Capcom could have put a little more effort IMO into making the costumes a bit less corny for some characters.

The Ultra's I can forgive because we don't yet know how they work within the fighting engine, and some of them may have great setups. Though you have to admit, a few of them do look lame.

As for the special edition stuff, this may just be me but I think including stuff like anime/soundtracks in a game should be standard. But why waste the effort to put SSF4 promo videos on disk when everyone has already seen them on youtube? Why would anyone want to watch promo vids for a game they already own anyway?

How about a vid/pics of some 3-way cammy/juri/chun action for bonus content?

It'll be closer to $50 on amazon anyways... keeping the exlusive to systems just keeps it cheaper since yes most people will just download them anyways. Maybe Capcom is unwittingly doing us a favor then. Just can't wait for the revamp... No matter what it is a new Street Fighter 4 only about a year later. No, it is not a foregone conclusion to buy this.
Capcom have already annoyed several market segments by not producing an arcade version of super sf4, as well as pulling those bait-and-switch dlc tricks with the replays/rating system.
Now they are attempting to do it again with a Japan exclusive anime add on. Have they lost the plot?!

MvC2 reused old character sprites for the most part. This is why they were able to have so many characters. SFIV and SSFIV have to build new character models and wire up new animations for every new addition to the roster.
This doesn't take as long to do as hand drawing new sprites, but as I said, most of MvC2's sprites were already being used from older games.

And that up there is NOT the official US box art. I'm SURE of it. Look at the difference in pixels on the ESRB rating (it's all smudgy and pixelated) and the crisp lines on the characters. The logo is also a bit lower res than the character.

The reason for Capcom joining forces with M$ is easy. Recently, the new super mario bros. sold 11 million copies 4.5 million of those were U.S. alone out selling Japan by 1-1.5 mil (approx 50% more). Here we see US being a bigger market than Japan.

SO Japan and capcom see US being the better market.. GUESS WHAT!!! Regardless of the fanboys more people own Xbox360 in the US its just numbers can't refute them. So Golden Rule of Business GO WHERE THE MONEY IS!!!!

The anime hasn't even been announced for the USA for either system as of yet. Only 360 in Japan. Since their is a english dub already made, it is obvious it will be coming to the US as well. But probably not a 360 exclusive, since they would have went ahead and announced that today too if that was the case.

Everything is cheaper (than just a straight monetary conversion) in the US than in Japan. It will still probably be less than $50 here in the US.

First off clear the whole PS3><360 bull, because even the SFIV CE came with the soundtrack & a movie... I downloaded the soundtrack from FFShrine the same week & saw the movie on youtube in high quality.

As for the price.

The normal price for a Japanese new game (PS3/360) = $70-$80 roughly & they're getting it at the price of $55. Not bad.
Also everyone keep in mind that this is the JAPANESE SSFIV blog, not the American one, people check the jap blog & translate it for us to see new updates. But when they announce a certain edition & a certain price, it doesn't take a detective to see that they are talking to their JAPANESE audience for now. So unless you live in Japan right now, you don't have any reason to piss yourself over the "current price".

Last but not least, if you really, truly, dreadfull, despise the alt. costumes. 3 words, DON'T BUY THEM.
Why are people bitching & automatically calculating the alt. costumes into the game "price" i.e. "$55 SSFIV + $24 Alts. = $70+ :'(". No one is forcing you to buy the costumes in any way of form.

And if you really hate the game that much, don't buy it either.

This isn't the real US box art. Few reasons.

1. The source of the big announcement did not reveal the box art at all.
2. The ESRB icon on the box arts here are all blurry and badly edited. Most likely fake.
3. The japanese cover art is http://www.famitsu.com/blog/jamzy/R10... which is most likely going to be the US art as well, since the original SF4 cover art was the same for US and Japanese.

Ugh, I'm kinda worried. Capcom is putting out an awful lot of publicity for a game that is character driven but incomplete.

However with the xbox 360 being an insecure console thanks to poor storage design choices, it should be relatively easy to 'find' it.

I doubt there will be a pc version at all. and if, then most likely with the end of 2010. sf4 was the 3rd most pirated game of the last year. tho, it's include xbox aswell, the pc version was literally raped.

As for arcade release, I'm on a twisted edge. On the first hand, an arcade release would be cool due to get some hype and footage from japanese players, but on the other (stronger) hand, NO arcade version means that they CAN patch street fighter further with new balancing tweaks. They dont have the "we dont want different versions between aracde and consoles" statement witht he release of ssf4 anymore. Would be nice imo, as we can see a change in tierlist and probably it affects capcom to release a tweak for some chars.

also, i really hope the covers ARE fake, the look fandmade. nothing to be worth as an offical cover. I hope the japan ones will be used world wide. i dont see why it wont happen anyway.

As far as the box art goes, the US versions look like TRASH compared to the Japanese cover. That artwork of Deejay on the cover looks queer. Not to say I'm not buying the game, but why can't the Japanese/US versions look the same? It will make for an international icon for each of Capcom's fighting games.

Can't wait for the 3S characters to show up and just beat the fucc out of the other characters in the lineup. Personally, Dudley/Urien/Yun defined 3S and should have been the characters brought onto SSF4.

I think the next SF game should be Street Fighter Universe where every character ever made for the SF series should be on it, 2.5d, with focus/parries/redparries/alpha counters/etc applied to the respective characters from that game. Now there's an idea!

Regional differences in boxart is old localization practice. Because of varying aesthetic taste between cultures/regions, changes to accommodate the target audience.

Granted, it doesn't mean the people who handle the localizations always get it right. I too prefer the Japanese SSFIV cover.

The anime is 360 only in Japan, to boost the games sales on 360 in Japan. Just like Rocksteady did with the PS3 only Joker content on Batman AA. I think a lot of people are misinterpreting it...The PS3 version has the soundtrack and the book. The Xbox 360 version has the soundtrack, the book, and the anime.

I can't wait to know what ignorant fools people will be silently feeling like once legit NA/PAL deets get released, because they just had to spout off now over Japanese release info. I'll be content if even one of you publicly admit to being an impatient pric when that happens. Also, anyone who is bitching about expecting final character release info has no one but themselves to blame. Capcom knows damn well that it's that info that's keeping us hyped. Why would they give that info now instead of using it as a final pre-sale push closer to the actual release? Even if it appears to be common knowledge now, they know we'll stay interested because it's not FACT until they confirm it.

And for those calling Capcom teases and dicks and what not, stop and look at yourselves. Why should they want to cater to every beck and call of such ungrateful and flat out whiney "fans" such as yourselves? I read a fair amount of gaming blogs and forums, and Capcom has to have the most fickle and bitching group of followers I've ever seen. Much respect to all of you holding your judgements until all of the info is out.

Wow. So this is the big news we've been waiting for? Fcuk-a-doodle-do.
So, the new anime is exclusive to Japan X-box 360 owners? Pffft. Big deal. A quick search on any torrent site will fix that. (It's not like most of us didn't just use a torrent to get the last one).
I guess it's safe to say we won't get any news on the new characters till say mid february. Oh well...Thanks Capcom & Nakky for getting my hopes.

allow me to answer your question. i dont know about everyone else, but i want to see the gameplay of the last 4 cast, cause capcom is known for making glitches in their games. without any outside eyes, we wont know what we'll end up with til it too late. just bought another game with a buttload of glitches on only these 4 characters and i dont wanna cheat a victory with karin. its already bad enough that the cast are gonna be equal strength instead of them having their own strength and weakness. it takes the fun out of a challenge.

So let me get this straight, you think that potentially unbalanced characters could ruin the game, yet balanced characters will take out some sort of challenge? You're contradicting yourself. Also, you're making it sound like everyone is going to be completely equal, which not only isn't the case, it isn't possible. Have been playing fighting games very long?

It's a moot point anyway. Us knowing who the characters are and attempting to disect their game play from a 15 second clip in a trailer or a few minutes of solid game footage doesn't have a thing to do with Capcom's testers and the development of the game. Capcom isn't known for making games with glitches, all game companies are. It's just a fact of the business. Once again, until you're at a loc test, or you're check gets signed by Capcom, what you've seen, or want to see of the game doesn't mean a thing.

Xbox 360 version is a priority as usual. Just try to find at least one video of screenshot of SSFIV for PS3.
So the best version not only will get anime movie but also better graphics, resolution, AA, loading time and etc.
Online community isn't the last thing too. You know Xbox Live is the best place to play SFIV now.

Capcom really knows how to use the technology and knows who's the king.

Xbox 360 may be outdated, but in this case PS3 is from the last century. Everybody knows how PS3 version of SFIV is inferior among all versions.

Xbox360 + Good Arcade Stick (if you don't like default controller) + SSFIV = the best solution for home SF players.

A friend of mine has an xbox360 and he says he never has lag since championship mode came out. I was considering to sell my PS3 for xbox360 because SFIV is the only reason I have a PS3. I think my router may be a bad influence as well. Since yesterday I started playing directly on the modem and it had noticeably less lag.

It's not disrespect, I'm just saying that you're wrong. It simply appears to me that you don't know what you're talking about. Maybe I just don't really get what you're trying to say. There are still going to be tiers. Certain characters will match up better against others, and some will be considered better in general. Capcom's been at this for years, and their history (though not perfect), speaks volumes more than anything you or I have to say about this.

I don't know what your history with gaming or the industry is, but I'm sure you realize that there are people who get paid to test these games for hours on end right? People whose entire job is to play the game solely to find problems. Why is it that you think you or whoever else sitting in front of their computer screen is going to make a difference in this? I just can't even comprehend that. The only people who will realistically effect the game are the team behind the game and those they seek input from. Guess who that doesn't include? Interweb-super-detective-game-analysts, that's who.

Damn I can't believe were talking about servers the PS3 don't have a server they use independent servers from other companies and supposedly it will be optional to pay to play. The 360 has their own servers and that's y it has maintainence which is a good thing and less lil kids play the 360 version so no weird trash talk after they lose cuz they can't afford to play. Incorrect. The xbox live service is no different than that of PSN due to using the same transmission method (the internet). It also does not have the best games out there, most are just stolen from the PS3.

in PSN there are only kids throwing hatemails after every game. And you're lucky if you can play at least once. Because all these featherbrains are disconnecting in a middle of the game. There's no gaming culture in PSN. Get used to it.

So at the end Xbox 360 version of SSF4 will get all PS3 will but with better graphics (technically), online, much more skilled populated and gentle community, and with this exclusive anime.

psn and 360 rely on two things YOUR connection and the other guys connection.

whoevers experienced lag on psn its cause you've played when either your connection was not 100% or the other guys connection was not 100% or it was same for XBL just look at DSP play MW2 YOU SEE PPL TELEPORTING without hax and DSP has gone on record saying there's something off with his connection(Newegg online turny where his friend not only lost at phil's, only using phil's 360 but his own stick and button set up, but went home and swept the turny beating the guy who sent him to losers bracket 2-0)

neither system has better online play(actually playing) cause both depends on your connection and the other guys connection. if you have evidence of you playing someone on both XBL and PSN in the same game yet you only experience lag when playing one post it in video for. both PSN and XBL have whiners, little kids and griefers(the guys who just yell random racist slurs before a match and stuff like that)

proof is the thing i look for and before you say it most multiplatFORM games are ported by the original teams except Bayonetta which platinum games was stupid enough to hand to Sega for conversion (you notice unlike Bayonetta most games don't have the "converted by") and there have been exceptions to the porting such as bioshock 1, star ocean 4, eternal sonata and tales of Vesperia which get alot more things that the 360 version won't get such as DLC for bioshock , voice acting for Vesperia, new characters in Vesperia and Star Ocean. I've never heard of a franchise that was PS3 only doing the same thing, Metal Gear Solid Peace walker is still psp only, Rising is not even a MGS just a metal gear. 360 is getting FF13 (36/40 famitsu) but not VS13 or 13 agito

I have both versions and I play them both regularly so let me point it out.

PS3:
+The level is much higher than 360.
+More mature players that can get raped without crying over it.
+Faster load times once installed
+The controller is much easier to use(not that it matters when I use the stick)
-Finds 7 japanese players with crappy connection, 2 from US(I live in Europe) and occasionally 1 European.
-I remember once winning a G1 championship(5 matches) and it took me over 70 minutes to complete it. My point: NO European players!

Xbox 360:

+More players... LOTS of more players! Probably the only reason I keep playing this version
+/-Much easier competetion. Could be good and bad.
+/-It costs you to play, but at least you don't have to wait for an hour to complete a Championship run.
+A lot less turtling...
-...but a lot more whining
--I don't have the stick for 360, so I have to put up with its hideous pad!

Personally I prefer playing the PS3 version because of the controller(and stick) and where you'll also find tougher competition.
All in all, they both have their pros and cons, and I think it depends on the player's preference.
It's pointless to argue unless you're mindless bots...
I do hope they fix the netcode in SSFIV so I wouldn't have to play against Japanese players with lag all the time.

Too many Ken/Sagat scrubs.

PS3
Pros:
Significantly better players (skill wise)
Free online play

Cons:

Kinda expensive, but perhaps worth it in the long-run.

PC:
Pros:
Good online play
Free online
Only people who play the game are actually good.
Quality is as good as your PC.
You can mod costumes.

Cons:
Many people play console instead.
Many people dont have a good enough PC to run SFIV.

Probably won't buy it now. I have a PS3, and I want a blu-ray anime. Torrenting can't help here; that's 25+ gigs. Screw Capcom for leaving us behind and lying to us. We already know who the remaining characters are. The rumors have been 100% true. there is no reason to pay attention to ss4 anymore. All they have left to reveal are costumes. That's just dull. (And more disappointments.) Capcom's just attempting to screw its most hardcore fans into buying two collector's editions. Bullsh1t.

If I do buy the game, I will do it second hand so that no money goes to them. Also, telling my friends to do so as well. They follow my lead, so you are out at least 6 copies, Capcom. I will speak with my pocketbook.

#491 this cant be true skullomania, in my opinion, is one of the worst characters ever in a streetfighter game and it looks photoshopped too. What next garuda, obama? I have done nothing but look forward to this game this gimp would ruin it for me and for capcom to enter such a crap character into its flagship title would annoy a lot of fans when we could have yun, or any of the vastly better charas from the roster.
#448 not all x box players are scrubs and that fan boy mentality wont make you play any better. at the end of the day were all players of the same game and regardless of platform you will find scrubs or your definition of scrubs anywhere you play be it console arcade or even tourmament.
Anyway ill be getting this game day one, but is anyone else concerned that adding so much, as cool as it seems, may be too much and the balance of characters might get out of hand.

I think it's complete horse $hit that only Xbox 360 gets the Juri anime trailer maybe PS3 users who didn't feel like buying a $hitty system would like to see it too.
