Nakky blog details new Super Street Fighter 4 match video DVD On the Japanese Super Street Fighter 4 Nakky blog, Shiozawa-san hyped up a new Super Street Fighter 4 DVD that's going to feature matches from some of the top players in Japan.

Daigo Umehara, Momochi, Iyo and others are going to have a set of their matches available through the Japanese e-Capcom site. No word yet on if this will be a pack in with one of the collector's editions, be available as a separate purchase or by some other means.

Kudos again go out to Azrael for the translation.

Hello everyone!

Thanks for the massive amount of comments on last week's blog!

You know how in Ibuki's part on the new character trailer her pet racoon Don made some appearances? I had to do the checking of Don's images, and it was really strict - we did more retakes for Don than Ibuki.

Well then, first off the details for the Last Chance entry for the Street Fighter IV National Tournament have been decided on, so I'd like to tell you all about it! (You can also find this info on the official site's special page)

For teams who would like to enter, please fill out the "Last Chance Sign-Up" between 9 and 10 a.m. within the event hall. (Team priority will not be given)

There are 2 Last Chance spots. To decide these spots, we'll have a tournament! However, the tournament won't be held on VEWLIX cabinets, but on the Xbox 360 with Mad Catz arcade sticks. Of course, you will only be allowed to use arcade characters.

We will announce the tournament brackets at 10:30, and the tourney starts at 11! There will be two blocks, and the winner from each block will get the Last Chance entry spot in the National Tournament!

So now we have 8 teams that have been decided on through qualifiers, as well as the Dream Team! There are still 3 qualifiers left (you still can enter!). With 2 Last Chance spots, that makes for 13 spots so far. We haven't revealed the 14th and final spot yet, so look forward to it!

Today, there's one other bit of news I'd like to present to you all! ... I say that, but this was already announced yesterday on the Mini Capcom! blog that I'm sure many of you keep up with. As part of the SSFIV Special Features from the e-Capcom website, there will be an "e-Capcom Special DVD" featuring match videos from top players! And our Mini Capcom! staff Ms. Maka and Mr. Minisuke were able to get the scoop on these top players!

Entry No.1, Umehara!
Well known as the God of Capcom fighting games, in SFIV he uses Ryu. He is a member of the Dream Team for the National Tournament. Also, I saw him the other day at Shinjuku station... sorry for staring. Of course, he will be using Ryu in all the matches.

Entry No. 2, Iyo!
He took home the championship at the first National Tournament, and is the man who brought out Dhalsim's true potential. He uses Dhalsim in SFIV. This character and player duo has the highest synch ratio of anyone else (I think at least). He hasn't been appearing in many big tournaments lately, but it seems that he still keeps his play up! Of course, he will be using Dhalsim in all the matches.

Entry No. 3, Shiro!
He took 2nd at SBO together with Iyo, and having won the first Kanto Qualifier his place in the National Tournament is all set. He uses Abel in SFIV. To me, he's the most sparkling player (you don't care...). Of course, he will be using Abel in all the matches.

Entry No. 4, Kindevu!
He secured his place in Nationals at Kyushu Qualifiers, and his joy at doing so left a big impression. In SFIV he uses Rufus. He has the 2nd best player/character synch ratio (just what I think). He has the title of "Person To Look Out For in 2010" title on his Viper card. Of course, he will be using Rufus in all the matches!

Entry No. 5, Tokido!
He's a student at Tokyo University, and the best Akuma player... two God-given gifts. He earned his place in the National tournament at the Tohoku Qualifiers. He was at SBO for both SFIV and SFIII, and for SFIV he lost to Makoto. Will he be able to get his revenge on Makoto who is on the Dream Team?!

Entry No. 6, Momochi!
As part of Kindevu's team at the Kyushu Qualifiers, he was also thrilled to earn his spot! He has Grandmaster status for Akuma and Ryu, and Master status for Viper and Ken. He took the title at SBO 09 in SFIII using Makoto. So of course, the character he'll be using on the e-Capcom DVD is Makoto! He is the second best Akuma player right behind Tokido.

Entry No. 7, Tokidoki Nukinkusu!
A famous player who often teams up with Umehara to form the team Umenuki. He hasn't been playing very much recently, but he's still boasts the No. 1 BP out of all Chun users! It will be good to see his level-headed play again on the e-Capcom DVD. He will be using Chun for all matches.

Entry No. 8, Itabashi Zangief!
His title is "Fair Maiden". He's well known as a Virtua Fighter player, but he's also making his name known in SFIV as a top player! As expected from a Gief player, he has a firm grip on the grapplers characters in the e-Capcom DVD. Naturally, he will be using Zangief for all matches.

We had these 8 warriors slug it out! And who came out on top? Heh heh heh, of course I can't say anything more than that! Everyone, be sure to pick up this DVD and check out these high-level matches for yourself!

Well, I didn't really have any big news for today, but I did give you some good info that SFIV players can't miss out on... right? (... I'd like to think so!)

And finally, one announcement. We had a Chu/Shikoku Qualifier scheduled for 3/7 (Sun) at the IKUSA Kochi arcade, but due to circumstances on the arcade operator's end we are no longer able to hold the qualifier there. Currently, we are looking for a new location at which to hold the qualifier, so please wait for updates as they become available. (The date of the qualifier may end up changing as well.) We are very sorry for the inconvenience! We are running out of time, so I'd like to get this decided on as quickly as possible.

Well then, the day after tomorrow, 2/28 (Sun) is the 2nd Kansai Qualifier! See you all in Kyoto!

"The God of Capcom fighting games" maaan please...id love to see him beast in some fate unlimited codes, tvc, or mvc2. Hell hes not even the god of street fighter...anyone who watches his playstyle knows he isn't god of anything 'cept scrubbin it up

Posted by Really? on February 25, 2010 at 9:01 p.m. #4

No Mago?

Posted by #3 on February 25, 2010 at 9:03 p.m. #5

Not to defend Umehara or anything, but you're no better.

Posted by #5 on February 25, 2010 at 9:06 p.m. #6

Youd do know Daigo has gone on record saying he will not fight certain console SFrs, right? What kind of god says, i dont wanna fight you!

Posted by PeteTheBohemian on February 25, 2010 at 9:08 p.m. #7

@#3 a.k.a. "really"

I respect that you're not riding Daigo's dick like every one else, but to call him a "scrub" might be worse. It is asinine to ignore his accomplishments. If you don't think he'd be good at TvC or MvC2, then you've never seen him play Alpha 3 or Dark Stalkers a.k.a. Vampire Hunter.

Posted by @5 on February 25, 2010 at 9:09 p.m. #8

yeah, I'm mixed on that( slightly leaning towards your opinion ) but he is still an amazing player and people calling him scrubs would be destroyed if they played him

Posted by Eile on February 25, 2010 at 9:11 p.m. #9

yes he is "The God of Capcom fighting games" You can play the Capcom fighters and be great on all of them, but not on the top at any of them, it's still no good.

Posted by Meta on February 25, 2010 at 9:12 p.m. #10

Lmao at daigo scrubin it out lmao I'm no d sucker of his or any player but no one in this forum could beat him while he was drunk with the flu.. He's prolly the god of iv n st imo

Posted by Meta on February 25, 2010 at 9:14 p.m. #11

That's like saying mj(Jordan or Jackson) was a bench warmer or one hit wonder lmao u buggin dude

Posted by Meh on February 25, 2010 at 9:15 p.m. #12

Even though i hate ryu sooo fkng much for how easy and how retardedley safe he is Daigo is always either the first or one of the first to know how to win every match up. Umehara uses ryu but in the end he does deserve credit for discovering what ways to exploit all of ryus options. Although i do consider Tokido and Momochi better players bcz they can't get away with more than two mistakes b4 theyre KOd and the fluidness of theyre chars any person who uses execution to win is better than mago and umehara in my book*who mostly depend on punishing instead of building offense* cuz of theyre stupid Shoryu FADC ultra.

Posted by PeteTheBohemian on February 25, 2010 at 9:19 p.m. #13

Also, Daigo not only destroyed in pretty much every Capcom fighting game he's played, he also had an iron grip on the Guilty Gear scene, where most players said that, when fighting him, "it's like he's psychic. He knows everything you're going to do."

Again, I'm not dick riding. I really agree with Arturo Sanchez's perspective on not putting the Japanese on a pedestal. Yet, at the same time, you have to respect them and, in turn, respect Daigo.

Posted by haha on February 25, 2010 at 9:28 p.m. #14

it's just funny
because yeah we are all the tournament scene
but are we known?
and if we are
known like him?
No
I don't think so
he is the Ken, the founder of Super Smash Bros. Metagame
he is that of Street Fighter. He was the first that was the best, and even if people beat him, he will always be known for being the first of the best. THE FIRST

Posted by Kinderovu on February 25, 2010 at 9:31 p.m. #15

Wait. What game are these matches on? Both SF4 and SF3? Or are they actually giving SSF4 for these players for them to prepare and fight each other?

Posted by Mister Masters on February 25, 2010 at 9:31 p.m. #16

Daigo is FREE versus my OTG DPM+FP!

Set your alarm clocks to WAKE UP SHORYUKEN!

Sagat matches are lame.

Posted by @14 on February 25, 2010 at 9:35 p.m. #18

what the heck are you even talking about?
who's "he"? I know who ken hoang is, but I don't see anyone mentioning him, or any context for what you just said.

Posted by rabbit on February 25, 2010 at 9:37 p.m. #19

#15 it's SSFIV (see below)

"He took the title at SBO 09 in SFIII using Makoto. So of course, the character he'll be using on the e-Capcom DVD is Makoto! He is the second best Akuma player right behind Tokido."

Posted by rabbit on February 25, 2010 at 9:39 p.m. #20

oh granted it could be 3rd strike from the text but from the article title "Nakky blog details new SSF4 match video DVD", it's SSFIV.

Posted by SSJ3X on February 25, 2010 at 9:44 p.m. #21

Wait... so Momochi is using Makoto in the SSF4 DVD? Pretty cool to be honest. It should be an interesting DVD overall.

Posted by sere on February 25, 2010 at 9:47 p.m. #22

So does this mean SSFIV will hit arcades then?

Posted by were on February 25, 2010 at 9:50 p.m. #23

@#21

It's a bit confusing, but no they are packing videos of his Third Strike matches.

Posted by hrm on February 25, 2010 at 9:52 p.m. #24

I do hope that all of the players featured in the DVD are earning a small percentage from every copy sold..

Especially with no arcade version of Super.

It's just business after all. :]

Posted by skysonic on February 25, 2010 at 10:12 p.m. #25

the japanese are leagues a head of the americans in fighting games

Posted by No Mago on February 25, 2010 at 10:22 p.m. #26

No Mago?!?! If Mago is right now the #1 japanese player he should be there. Mago mains sagat!! maybe the don't want to show us that sagat still overpowered.

God of Capcom yeah Kuroda is a better player than diago let diago win sbo with Q.Also Kuroda is a beast in Guilty Gear which is also a complicated fighting game. SF4 is just to simple for kuroda.

Posted by ddd on February 25, 2010 at 10:25 p.m. #28

@#27
Guilty Gear is not a complicated game.

Arturo needs to have a first to 10 with Daigo instead of winning 1 money match against him and thinking he's king sh*t.

Interesting list of players. Too bad they couldn't round up a few more of the top SFIV players for the DVD (Mago, Shinya [chun], and the #1 Vega player [forgot name]). As for Daigo... he's a great player, but in every game that he's played there has always been someone better or equal (CvS2, 3S, A3, and SFIV). What sets him apart is his popularity in America and his very solid play style. Nevertheless, there are many players at Daigo's level and above that deserve credit as well.

Posted by WorstGiefEVER on February 26, 2010 at 12:48 a.m. #36

Tear them up Itabashi, let's GO!

Posted by anon on February 26, 2010 at 12:52 a.m. #37

Apart from Mago (best sagat) the entire list is comprised of the best of the best.

Kindevu - best rufus in the world
Shiro - best abel in the world
Daigo - Best ryu in the world
Iyo - Best Dhal in the world
Tokido&Momochi - Best/tied for best Akuma in the world
Nuki - Best chunli in the world now that Nemo is gone
Itabashi - Best Zangief in the world

Only one were really missing is Maeda taison (best boxer), Uyro (best cviper), Kyabetsu (godly c.viper that took out SBO).

if anything Momochi playing Makato in ssf4 should be very interesting. He played a pretty godly Makoto last year, OCVing most of the SBO team (including 3s god Kuroda's team) to eventually win it.

What is up with the Daigo hate? He has proven now for over a decade that he is one of the best and most consistent players in the world. Some of the things he pulls off are'godlike' for sure.

Can't wait to see this DVD

There are 2 Last Chance spots. To decide these spots, we'll have a tournament! However, the tournament won't be held on VEWLIX cabinets, but on the Xbox 360 with Mad Catz arcade sticks. Of course, you will only be allowed to use arcade characters.

It's SFIV never mind
