VGChartz: TvC 6th best seller in America last week
Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars had a strong showing in America during its opening week, according to VGChartz.com. Capcom's latest vs. game secured the 6th overall sales spot in the U.S.A.
Also, we know from an earlier story that TvC was the 6th best selling Wii title in the United Kingdom.
Unfortunately, the game didn't reach the top 10 for Japan and Worldwide audiences, but it moved a collective 103,670 units around the globe.
All things considered, it sounds like TvC had a solid opening week. To give you an idea of how it stacked up with the other games, here are the top 10 video game sales in the U.S.A. through January 30th.
1. Mass Effect 2 — 701,698
2. MAG: Massive Action Game — 198,967
3. Wii Sports — 181,210
4. New Super Mario Bros. Wii — 125,893
5. Wii Fit Plus — 95,343
6. Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars — 83,813
7. XBox 360 Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 — 78,371
8. Wii Sports Resort — 76,911
9. PS3 Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 — 59,493
10. Just Dance — 53,175

Is that really a good number? It lost out to games that have been out for awhile now. I want it to do well, but if that's the release week's numbers, I'm not sure if that's a good thing. I doubt it'll have any legs.

I don't trust vgchartz first week stats. Anyways, i think it's not bad, 100k in 4 days.

VGChartz.com 's statistics = fake and wrong.
But the game must have sold a lot anyway.

IMO, great news. Either theirs alot of people in the community, or this is a game that got people interested.

As #4 pointed out, the game hadn't been out for a full week, so it's doing pretty well.
"It lost out to games that have been out for awhile now"
You mean the Nintendo casual stuff? Nearly everyone lost to them, so that's not a real worry. The other two games were on their first week too.

It's sorta sad how Wii Sports, a launch title is still Wii's top game.

It got as high as it pretty much could have. It was up against the 360 and the PS3's first big exclusives of 2010 and the usual slew of Wii sellers.
To put it in perspective: MVC2 on XBL/PSN has sold around 280,000 (around 140,000 per console) after 7 months. TVC has already sold 80,000 in less than a week.

It's unfair to compare a game that is almost ten years old, that got put for DL, to a game completely brand new to the American market.
Especially considering that MvC2 has been extremely popular in the Arcade scene, while TvC is released in a time where American arcade scenes are non-existent.

Not bad. No one expected it to beat Mario or Wii Fit, but these numbers probably have Capcom pretty pleased.

Hmm..not bad considering that most fighting game fans don't own a Wii. If the game had been available for the three major systems and PC, sales would have been better.
Posted by x on February 7, 2010 at 2:54 p.m. #24
No 21 it should stay on the Wii at Capcom's website it stated it sold between 120,000 to 100,000 it sold really well and 24 it would have not sold more if it was on all systems and PC due to Mass Effect 2

Bad Company 2 > MW2
EXTRAPOLATION:
PS3 Bad Company 2 > 360 Bad Company 2
SIMPLIFIED:
PS3 > 360
LOL

That extrapolation made no sense at all. Not that the retarded fanboyism above makes any sense either, but yours still managed to be worse.

Good results (assuming they're real), but the two things that concern me are that:
1) Wii fans were just really hungry for fighters.
2) 80% of the games were sold in the U.S.?
Wait, that doesn't sound right. TvC makes top 10 in the U.K, but the number is less than 20,000?
@Serial: I think Kenneth was defending TvC, not saying that it wasn't selling as well as MvC2.

80k for a video game is actually not that hot. Consider that video games make most of their money in the first month, and realize that 80k is probably the best they'll pull. After the first couple weeks, it'll drop to not many, just like any other game.

It is competing with Mass Effect 2 and MAG, 100,000 worldwide in one week isn't that bad. There are still a few people, me included, who still want to buy it but hasn't yet.
