Justin Wong vs. Daigo from Seasons Beatings 4
Justin Wong and Daigo Umehara's First to 10 Street Fighter IV set at Seasons Beatings 4 wasn't streamed and video of it hadn't surfaced until recently.
Rodney pointed out this clip which has a solid portion of the matches from a shaky camera setup.
In case you missed Seasons Beatings 4 back when it happened in October, you can find the results here.

Pretty good playing from both of them. Daigo still throws out those random dps though...

this chapter is over. final score 10 - 2 to daigo, naturally.
not much point doing usa vs japan anymore.
perhaps usa vs uk, usa vs korea etc
be more interesting =]

Justin should just stop playing with boxer. His boxer is like a scrub compared to guys like Maeda Taison and Aojiru Guile.
His Rufus on the other hand is much better and looks a lot better too.
also @#2: The final score is 6-2. It was best of 10 games.

That YouTube account has the rest of the videos there.
Looks like Daigo performs bukkake on the entire 'elite' usa players.
I think sandford got lucky once with cammy though.

Another situation of two people that say they can beat each other. As always, one of them is right and the other one is Justin Wong.
Posted by Yeah Fu on February 7, 2010 at 3:56 a.m. #16
I'm not going to crap on Wong. Sure, he's not as good as Daigo, but pretty much nobody in Japan is either. Go watch his SBO 09 match where he annihilates Cygnus Sagat with his second best character (i.e. Boxer), because he had to let Marn play Rufus. If Wong lived in Japan and consistently played Japanese competition, he could become a top-tier player there. Even now, he'd be solid against them.
Of course, with the SSF4 arcade release up in the air, it might be a moot point from now on. But make no mistake, Wong is good, even if he's not quite as good as he thinks he is. And the US needs a SF4 player who can play with the big boys. We had 'em in the ST era. Even Pyrolee could hang with the Japanese elite when he was at his 3S peak. But we're lagging in SF4 and shouldn't be.

@ Boxer:
No it wasn't best of 10 it was first to 10 and as can be read in the results page which is linked to Justin picked Rufus when the score was 2-6, then when it turned 2-8 he picked C.Viper but still lost the remaining 2 games and final score 10-2. It's just that the guy recording obviously stopped for some reason.
Not that it matters tho...

Daigo downloaded Justin in the second game. Also cut the cameraman some slack coz he was holding the camera 4 like 18 mins straight. I've done it before and trust me your arms get tired after like 7 mins so this guy did good.

shoto's can be annoying at times but it's what makes street fighter. We gots to live with it. There are gonna be people who are good with each character in the game so all shotos aren't gonna be scrubs and because the shotoken style is that specific characters craft it will be the hadokens and shoryukens that K.O you.

They fled him from Japan, just to challenge him. America's arcade scene>>Japan's Scene.
Posted by Reason on February 7, 2010 at 9:48 a.m. #30
Trust me Daigo is cool & all, but am I the only one tired of seeing him win every match by common/easy antics such as l.srk > ultra, srk FADC > ultra, or just a straight random EX/h. srk in the middle of someone's pressure links?
I know he's won a ton of tournaments like that for a reason but still it seems a bit redundant to watch him play anymore cause he does the same stuff in the given situation. I'm pretty sure when SSFIV comes out Daigo will leave the SF scene cause if he already refuses to play against console characters & Super is adding 10 characters, I'm pretty sure at least one of them is going to be good tier & popular among tournaments.
From what I see Daigo either embraces the console version along with SSFIV or get outdone like when Justin Wong chose Fei Long.
Posted by @BORING on February 7, 2010 at 9:50 a.m. #31
I think your forgetting daigo played Boxer in SF2 he just plays Shoto since 3rd strike and shotos sucked in 3rd strike they are more formidable in 4 but i hope in SSF4 that Juri or T.hawk can dominate Projectile throwers all day. And daigo does lose in japan not often but he does. and sagat is way better than ryu, tigeruppercut does godly damage.
Posted by @31 on February 7, 2010 at 9:57 a.m. #32
Ken was A tier in 3S. Daigo has never played a low tier character (then again, neither has Wong).

Ryu vs Rufus is a brutal match up for Rufus. Ryu's DP nullifies Rufus' dive kick pressure strength.

JUST AS LONG AS YOU IGNORE HIS KARA UPPERCUTS THAT TELEPORT HIM HALFWAY ACROSS THE SCREEN
Posted by @32 on February 7, 2010 at 11:26 a.m. #39
And why should he play a low tier character? So scrubs can hail him for losing with a low tier character? He plays to win, and uses characters he feels comfortable with. He uses a high tier so what? Go win tournaments with ryu and come open your mouth. It's not like people who spend money to enter tournaments are there to play low tier characters for internet scrubs. They play to win, and if something works, i don't see why he should change it because of some people who are bored of his play style. Nobody forces you to watch his matches. At the end of the day, he has the prize money and the rep, where as y'all have nothing... except the comfort of similar internet scrubs who make you think you're right.
Posted by @ Reason on February 7, 2010 at 11:32 a.m. #40
You may be fed up with ryu but that's how his combos/antics work. Justins EX messiah lk FADC ultra is a common pressure link punish among rufus also. Furthermore Daigo only refuses to do money matches against console characters and he didn't get outdone against JWong's fei-long, JWong did manage to perfect him which was good but Daigo won overall and took the whole thing.

man, u ppl bashing wong because he's fat? Wtf does that have to do with anything? Wong seems arrogant but so does Daigo and while Wong has gotten used to lose against him he still hasnt picked a fireballer which I respect. The day Daigo loses he'll just look like the biggest idiot of them all. + eventhubs is full of daigofanboys that most likely play shotos and think they are awesome just cuz they can srk FADC ultra.

No...I have this thing that many Japanese players don't care about, a thing Daigo clearly doesn't have as he repeats the same shoto BS to win at all costs, never picking another character, never innovating, never surprising anyone. That something is called "fun."
It's actually the point of video games.
Posted by lol on February 7, 2010 at 8:37 p.m. #63
and people on post #64 you can see a lively specimen of a typical scrub, this in one in particular still doesn't seem to get the difference between tournament matches and casual ones, hopefully this specie is going to be extinct some day...

If you play at Daigo's level, fun comes in second place. The most important thing is winning the game.
And playing with Ryu is fun, it's a great character to play with.
Anyway, what is more fun than winning?
Posted by Bustin Bong on February 7, 2010 at 9:17 p.m. #65
At first the shakey cam threw me off, but the i realised it was just the added effects of the horror film to americans that Daigo is such a beast.
Posted by YJDK on February 7, 2010 at 9:34 p.m. #66
The final score was 10-2 Daigo. That vid only shows a MOST of the matches, not all.
I just don't understand why Wong always says he has better footsies than Daigo. Every time I've seen them play, daigo prances around on the guy. Not taking anything away from Wong because his footsies are some of the best, but Daigo does seem to outclass him in that department.
Posted by hobohitman on February 7, 2010 at 9:40 p.m. #67

Everyone is criticizing that fan who is holding his camera. Do you have any idea how tiresome it is to hold a camera for that long? He's holding it upward manually. After about 5 minutes, your arms will be overloaded because they aren't meant to be in that position for so long. Not to mention 18 minutes.

(Unless Seth counts as his own little, pathetic world). It's Ree-yu, or Rye-yu. Pick one, Seth. Don't make up your own little name and then proceed to commentate.
