Sven: SF1 HDR interesting, but other stuff more in demand
Capcom V.P., Christian Svensson, had a few ideas pitched to him on the Unity Boards, which he responded to. Here's everything.
Is there any chance of making a Street Fighter 1 HD Remix?
Like a total overhaul. Not to be able to just use Ryu and Ken, but also to be able to use other characters as well, like Retsu.
Sven: Interesting idea but I think there would be other more "in demand" opportunities for us to try first.
The first Street Fighter was a) really, really hard b) not that solid a design and c) not terribly popular. To change what you'd need to change to actually be reasonably well accepted, it probably wouldn't be Street Fighter anymore.
Will Capcom make a Hanna Barbera fighting game? This studio did The Flintstones, Yogi Bear, Scooby-Doo, The Jetsons, Jonny Quest, Space Ghost and The Smurfs, it could make for an awesome fighting game.
Sven: Agreed, that would be cool actually. I'm not sure how it would resonate with today's 14-22 [age] set though. Mind you, we picked even older, more obscure Japanese anime characters for a versus game so who knows. :)

By the time they finish making a Hanna Barbera VS game (say, in 3 years) it'll probably be common practice to lock all the best characters in the game as "premium content" and have you pay $99 bucks for the retail game + full rooster.

I've got to wonder what the plot of a Hanna-Barbera fighting game would be, let alone how a Smurf could possibly hope to take on, say, Space Ghost. :)

Just give us 3rd Strike with online. Capcom don't even have to bother with HD sh*t. Just release it as it is, and with online support. That's all we need to see on the PSN store & XBLA.

I think they should really think of a Street Fighter 1 redo. A prequel would be awesome for this series imo. Seeing Ryu and Ken as teens and putting some missing pieces in the story would be really cool.

Capcom vs Bandai. Bandai owns Sunrise, so the roster contains: Gundam, Cowboy Bebop, Escaflowne, Outlaw Star, Dirty Pair, Code Geass, Eureka SeveN, Witch Hunter Robin, etc. Characters from these franchises would resonate extremely well with the demographic they're interested in (14-22). Also, I'd like to see Spike destroy Ryu without weapons.

First things first, I wanna know who's been bitin' my Hanna-Barbara vs. Capcom. That s**t was MY baby, and I will SUE. No, seriously. If ANYBODY floated this idea before I did in FGD, I wanna hear about it so I can kick their ass.
j/k it's just nice to know that other people realized what an awesome idea HBvC is.
It would have to be a Versus game, obviously, so that Space Ghost can be Magneto.
Other must-haves in there:
Thundarr the Barbarian (Not technically Hanna-Barbara, but Ruby-Spears and that's close enough. Besides, Thundarr was AWESOME)
Apache Chief (with possible Giant Apache Chief EX character a la Gold Lightan)
Birdman (BIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIRDMAAAAAAAN)
Race Bannon (barrel chuck/uppercut gogo)
Rosie from the Jetsons (because every Japanese fighting game needs a robot maid!)
Quick Draw McGraw (EL MOTHERF**KIN' KABONG)
Hadji (get that magic carpet s**t rolling, I'm really not sure what ethnicity they were going for with Hadji besides "brown" but the point is, that kid could fly)
Shaggy and Scooby (all kinds of stance attacks with Scooby leaping into Shaggy's arms, their goofy run, something involving a ludicrously tall sandwich and Scooby Snacks)
The Wonder Twins (Sentinel fastfly with the girl turning into an eagle to carry her brother in a bucket...seriously the Wonder Twins were so lame they HAVE to make it in)
But no, seriously. It warms my heart to see Capcom semi-officially address this awesome game that will never get made. Thank you, Sven.

And for anybody who thinks HBvC is a stupid idea that wasn't even worth (gently) shooting down...for the love of God, get a better sense of humor. The whole point of stupid ideas like HBvC is that they're so stupid they're AWESOME. Their absurdity is so dense that it's like a black hole, it warps in on itself and becomes amazingly sensible.
Fighting games aren't high art. If they can make a fighting game out of Tsukihime, one of the most offensively awful "visual novels" ever conceived, it's hardly a stretch to envision a fighting game (that will never exist) based on stupid cartoons from the '60s-'80s that shared Capcom's love of goofy poses, weird proportions, and most importantly, reused animation. I always wanted to make a MUGEN character out of Scooby-Doo screencaps, and the scary thing is that it probably could be done...

no need for HD remix. 3rd strike's characters look good as is. Just throw some filters in there, maybe up the backgrounds to HD like MvC2, give it widescreen option and we're set.

I'm all for a "Street Fighter 1 HD Remix" and "Hyper Street Fighter 3: 3rd Strike" titles myself. Hope this sort of thing will appeal to other SF fans also. There are some real good ideas being discussed on those pages, and i certainly hope it'll develop into something further.
