Capcom's Christian Svensson made a few posts about general topics recently on the Unity Boards. Why are there no Capcom arcade classics on the Xbox Live Game Room?
Svensson: The online group in Tokyo has been responsible for that side of the business. It has been in, "wait and see," mode to see how Game Room was going to work out/what the quality of the emulation was going to be and what features were going to be added over time. Last I'd heard, we're still in that mode.
And while that may work itself out someday, in the mean time when you look at Marvel vs. Capcom 3, Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo HD Remix, Super Puzzle Fighter 2 Turbo HD Remix, Final Fight/Magic Sword, Bionic Commando Rearmed I/II (and when you see what we're doing with Street Fighter 3: Online Edition), we've been greatly enhancing our arcade efforts rather than just straight emulation.
Tell me what you're doing with Street Fighter 3 Third Strike Online Edition!
Svensson: Not a chance... this is one of the projects I'm most excited about and we're keeping things under wraps until we're much closer to release. :-X
I am interesting in created a short film with Capcom characters in it. Can I do this?
Svensson: If your short is good and receives positive feedback, I'll put you in touch with licensing and from there, discussions can be had.
Will characters like Dean or Lucia from Final Fight 3 be added into a future Street Fighter game?
Svensson: Final Fight 3 characters? I suppose if there were ever to be new content or a new SFIV, that could be theoretically possible but I'd have to admit, that'd be pretty low down the priority list as compared to many other candidates.
For those looking for more than is actually there in the prior statement, to set expectations it's worth saying that there is nothing on the front of new content for SF beyond SFIII Online Edition and Street Fighter X Tekken to talk about.
I'd like to know from Sven if Characters were picked for the Capcom side based on future potential or fan/company favorites?
If it was just on favoritism then why cant they have had more variety than just a few per franchise.
Does Haggar/Final Fight really have future potential at Capcom?
1.Capcom, we have been there and done that. How are you going to be excited when SF3 is already online? So, what you gonna add? a ranking system, some different playability that includes 2 or more online users, pictures from previous games...heck, you might pull a SF anniversary involving the mechanics of NG and 2I in this online edition. And you could get ALL of the following for free via internet.

You cant eat or sleep w/o bison? There are MANY games with him in it. get over yourself and play those games
yeah... I'm beginning to think that 3rd strike online will possibly have a few surprises and extras like new characters and stages. As well as future DLC plans. Yet again another win/win situation for Capcom and the fans.
@Him
A good netcode is probably something they can offer that GGPO and Superarcade can't. That alone is something that would bring me to buy it.
#4 I think if you don't plan on making money you don't have to pay for a license but you still have to talk to the department because there maybe things you are allowed or not allowed to do. Licensing is not just the money but to protect their investment, they want to make sure some joker does'nt go in and talk crap about capcom and their characters, it's got to have some positive feed back just as Sven said.
He better just be talking about graphical changes and stuff for 3s. There better not be any new characters...
But I would LOVE to see 2i stages/music.
I dunno about new characters. I mean, it would be awesome for sure but that seems unrealistic. (Unless they REALLY have something up their sleeve.)
Maybe he's just excited for the wealth of options and updates they are adding. This needs to be the premier version of SF3 for old fans and new alike. Expect an HD facelift. Expect a nice variety of online options. I would even go so far as to expect SF4 shortcut commands to be added. Stages, music and costumes are all possible for sure.
Thats my best guess at least.
/shrug
They should've went with Hyper Street Fighter III: New Giant Fight for the Future Generation Attack. lol jk.
I'm guessing just graphical updates...
@#13
Its gonna be near the same sense how that sfa anniversary was set up and i think hsf2, where you can choose the older versions of the characters. So people can use there 2i sean and ibuki against the 3s cast along with stages and music from the series in general. And if they decide to add anyone it would be to tie the story together from sf4 seeing the small effort they tried to get sf4 to tie in with 3s.
Capcom doing just that will add alot to the game without pissing of the sf3 fans and bring more people to it at the same time. OOOO and IIRC the shin akuma in 3s was blue colored but incomplete, i forsee a possible tie in with that oni akuma mess.
New stream event happening now, featuring players like PR-Balrog, Gandido, and others from the puertorican scene. We have salty cams! We'll be hosting SSF4, Tekken 6, BBCS and hopefully get some 3S in it.

is that gonna be embedded here? My laptop has an odd thing of going to 100% cpu when i go to watching streams on the main sites, but the embedded players it stays calm at around 5%. Whether its justintv or ustream doesnt matter :/
@#16
Nu uh. 3rd strike is way better than alpha 3....maybe not alpha 3 max, but still...
but im looking forward for this one....NO MO CHIP N RUN FO THOSE SSF4 ASS HOLes...IMA GET THAt ASS in THIS You Sons biches!!
and back to the topic.
im thinking that a lot of wat ive read above is coming...maybe not alt costumes, but music and stages...hell yea
i dunno, i believe that guy with the twitter account leaking mvc3 info than sven(who is not exactly telling us anything).
They sure add online training mode that would be dope
NO GAMEPLAY CHANGES TO 3RD STRIKE. I don't want lenient inputs for sf4 noobs. I don't want any rebalances for all the whiners. I don't want new characters. If you want any of those things, then play a different game. This rerelease is meant for the 3rd Strike FANS, and NOT for people who wish it played like a different game. The only thing I want are an HD facelift and a more robust training mode that shows inputs like sf4. If they really were going all out, 2I stages and music would be really cool too. But NO GAMEPLAY CHANGES.
i became a fighting game fan because of 3S. please don't screw it up capcom
I hope they don't add anything with SF3 other than just build good servers and accurate game play. I don't think any new characters would ever be necessary.
(especially because with my luck, and Capcom's fondness for shafting good characters...it would only be characters I loathe)
Folks need to demand a better netcode and stop whinging about characters not being in.
