Wow I guess when you're as old as Gen an Alpha Counter is as bad as breaking your hip o_O
if Gen is hit during his counter move (crouching HP in Crane) he takes more damage. same thing happens in SSF4, but not quite on this scale
if you started SF with (S)SF4 and you want to play something else on the side, Alpha2 is the most recommended imho.
it's the perfect balance of classic SF with modern features, without going overboard full crazy like A3. plus it's more balanced.
might want to try it on GGPO. works like a charm
The parry is also known as Zero-Counter (or Alpha-Counter to Americans). In SFZ2 it consumes one meter bar, to execute it is easier than the SSF4 Focus Attack, just do B-BD-D motion with P or K, while blocking any attack.
IMO, SFZ is far more nicer and entertaining to play rather than SSF4:
1. Stages are well designed, more dramatic, and closely related to SF background and story. The Stormy Open Ground, is the scene where Sagat vs Ryu in SF2 The Animated Movie; The hovering aircraft of Shadowloo when Ken is being Kidnapped; Sakura's Stage is in her house backyard with her young brother playing Sega Saturn and he will throw away the controller everytime he lost the game (Ending for every round)
SSF4 stages are purely rubbish and meaningless, and does not tie with any of the character.
2. Winning pose are awesome and fun. Over 7 selectable winning pose by pressing LK, MK, HK, LP, MP, HP, or START after you win the round. Memorable Winning Poses such as Sakura including kick her shoe up in the air and land it on her own head; Rolento's granade popping is awesome.
SF4 Winning pose is totally uncool, and selectable only before tha game begin.
3. Round Winning Icon covers all range of possibility or combination of ending including Perfect, Super Level 1 2 & 3, Cheese (Chip Finish), "Heaven" for Akuma Super, etc.
SF4 has only C, P, V, or U. Boring.
SFA2 was my favorite of the Alpha games, and I personally like the Alpha games more than 3S or SF4.
Ken is probably the most combo friendly character in A2, very easy to combo into his supers.
Comparing Alpha 2 to SF4 is pointless. They're generations apart.
Man, the good ol' days huh?... Nostalgia kicking in... :(... :)
@RoggingCampo. i'm not talking about the game play mechanic, but the defensive mechanic... not just in alpha 2 but 3. do you think think the Alpha-Counter would be better or what we got now? i'm just not asking this question because i'm a alpha fan, but just wanted to know what SF community thinks.
man i remember this game first when my cousin took me and my bros to a bowling place, and after we were done bowling it was late so we played a few rounds of SFA1 on the arcades. it was my first time seeing this game, i was like 7 i think. anyways just bought the game 3 years ago and i lost it, hope i find it. this is easily one of the best SF games out there.
Can you imagine that Dark grassy level with the lighting back ground on SSFIV??? That'll just be SiCk!!!
Alpha 2 was awesome i use o play it in the pizzeria by my house back when i was in 6th grade when it dropped. I personally i enjoyed alpha 3 more though and still think its better than 3rd and iv. come on capcom one more alpha wouldnt hurt or hell 3 with online play down the line!
great game but sorry boring video seems to show way to my=uch of the same thing
Awesome stuff.
