Enjoy not playing against Yuns while you can.. once this shlt drops, Yun will probably be played almost as much as shotos. :/
@TheGodofpez
I know I'm gonna play yun, but i don't think he will be as popular as shotos are. Shotos are popular because they are easy to learn and somewhat easy to win with, you don't as good excution as if you were playing as a more advanced character like seth, or possibly and i'm judging this just from the videos, yang
anything other than reversal shoryuken spammers. Atleast their dive kicks arent gonna be followed up with a powerful throw or messiah kick with decent chunk of health to boot. I will welcome these low health dudes, cause once they mess up that life bar is going DOWN.
I don't think that Yun is that strong..
As for Rufus for example, not many people are playing him and I don't know if it's his design, but hes pretty strong, even in SSF4.
In the right hand Yun is probably going to be a beast, but I don't think that anyone is going to drop the shotos for him.
In fact Capcom never said there will be DLC for console version
would be a poor decision to not allow the street fighters fans outside of japan to not have access to play it seeing how exposed we got to AE edition. Also them putting in alot of work into is not gonna pay off for them and we all know how capcom is with putting money on the table, If its not gonna make alot we aint gonna do it.
@14
just like people thought there will be new characters in AE?
shiit, once yun has super, all you can do is run away,lol
he builds meter faster than rose!
@#15 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yTBOLI... Tokido and Zangitan from yesterday AE.
also the new EX-greenhand looks fine imo.
I felt bad for laughing when I saw that Seth in the first video jump back fierce punch twice at 0:48. He must have forgotten they had taken away his arms ;_;
How long is it going to be before we see Evil Ryu and his buddy in action? I figured there would already be footage when I woke up this morning.
@ 14
It's OBVIOUS people dont play Rufus as much online because he is difficult for noobs to understand and to win with.
But Rufus is brainless to win with with a slight advanced player.
The Shotos are BRAINLESS in terms of strategy. 236 until they 8, then 623 when close. If trapped? 623 again. 623 works with offense and defense with shoto.
Not to mention the combos are easy and damage dealt with shotos are high
seriously, yun with full ultra and seth has about 30% health left, still yun couldn't finish him? i guess he has like 800 health now instead of 650??
Hahaha, its always the same old bs with you lot
@3: As much as shotos? They gain meter faster, they do more damage, they have 'flashier' combos, better Ultras, better rushdown tools...
They ARE the new shotos. And you have to PAY for them.
I hope this comes out for consoles sooner rather than later. Hopefully, before evo2k11.
@#22
doesnt look useless, but as you see with the juri vs gief video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1I0QtO... she back dashed out of it alot.
Seems like to 2 ways to stop back dasher is with U2 or option select green hand if they can come up with one and its back to square one seeing how it doesnt knock down unless on counter hit.
As you see the same with the Tokido video they fall for a follow up once and other than that they escape.
@#26
seeing how yun did a dive kick, target combo, ex lunge, Ultra... its gonna be some good chunk of scaling on it. Also his Ultra 1 can be followed up, and its supposed to do less damage in general cause it easy to combo into. And seth did get a health increase.
i see sagat got his tiger uppercut power back, that damage was nice
its probably a huge investment for Capcom to push these into arcades, so i doubt we'll see DLC soon. There hasn't even been any "official" announcements yet regarding DLC. Just ambiguous clues on twitter or leaked xbox 360 images as far as i know. I'm sure it's coming eventually though.
Don't worry. If the new characters are overpowered, Capcom will have a chance to make balance corrections while they are preparing a version of the Arcade Edition content for consoles (which, as others have pointed out, is something they are very likely to do).
@#36
if you were to actually goto the youtube channel link you will see a decent chunk of ibuki and the guy is no slouch either http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4WMhqN...
Is anyone else very disappointed that there were only two playable characters added? And that the two boss characters are still a complete mystery?
Depending on the price of the DLC, there's a good chance I won't buy it. My guess is two characters and some pointless "balance" changes aren't going to be worth what they ask for. I feel most of the changes were pointless and didn't fix the primary issues of the characters.
Also I know it's not a whole lot to go off of, but Daigo said that Ken is better than both Akuma and Ryu. With the addition of Yun and Yang who appear to be very strong, both from gameplay and comments from players. This looks like another 3rd Strike to me. What do you guys think?
ARE YOU SERIOUS?!
So Yun gets to build meter like no tomorrow, but Gen, a character that seriously needs meter, has perhaps the games slowest meter gain? Wow... Just wow.
@41 nope. definitely not a third strike. those are just Daigo's impressions. And the game just came out so there will still be a lot of little things to discover. Also, if I remember correctly, as pointed out here at eventhubs a while back there are still time-released characters that's yet to be playable. Lastly, it's not 3rd strike because there are no parries involved and there are a whole lot of fighters here than in third strike so it's a more diverse cast.
On a side note; my concern is, if AE should be the game in evo2k11 then how are the rest of the street fighters around the globe going to practice and prepare for evo if it's only available in arcades and not in consoles before 2k11. I know it's still a number of months away but I just can't wait for this game to hit the consoles. And with MVC3 coming out in early Feb. then there's a good chance this edition may or may not make in the consoles in time for evo2k11.
Damn, sorry bout my rant, I just wan to play this edition so badly. Sadly there's no arcade in my area that's why.
I liked Yang since 3s, hopefully I can get good with him, looks like a beast.
I dont like all this runaway and build meter tactics im seing alot of. that sort of thing gets very old very quick, and its boring as hell..
I cant wait to see yun and yang in the hands of the pros and not some random scrubs.
c'mon Capcom! Announce when its getting released as dlc already!
* I meant to say, those are just Daigo's first impressions of Ken. But I do believe Ken got better this time around. About damn time too.
@43: I didn't mean 3s in terms of gameplay, I meant it in terms of balance. AE does not seem as balanced as Super did, in my opinion.
*i meant potentially a beast, the yang users seemed like they weren't too familiar with him =\ especially in that sakura vid....
why would anyone even worry? Knowing its capcom, they obviously want to milk this as much as they want so they'll definitely release this some time soon. BUT if they really dont release the arcade edition... then they need to fire whoever made that stupid suggestion and cover up their losses.
I don't think Shotos are popular because they are easy to learn. Shotos are popular because Ryu and Ken have always been the key characters consistent in every game. They are what people grew up with. And you know they are always going to be good to great, never bad. And lastly, most importantly, there are a whole bunch of people out there who play this game simply for kicks. They don't know the ins and outs of the game, they don't know the community, they don't know who Daigo is. They just want to have fun, have probably played Ryu in games like SF2 and so it's easier for them.
i'm gonna hit up arcade ufo in austin this weekend...the first arcade to recieve AE ;]
To everyone worried about Yun:
Remember when everyone thought Dudley was gonna be the best and Adon was gonna be the worst in SSF4?
Yun looks strong, but give it a few months. Capcom generally knows what they're doing :-D
Is it just me or does Yun look really small compated to Seth? I didn't realize how much of a size difference there is. I'm sure that it probably wont make a difference but im just surprised in the size of the twins .
oops Compared..... Dont know how the t got in there lol
Ok people complaining about paid dlc need to stop and think for a second. There is no way this is going to be paid dlc. If it was paid for that means people would have the choice of buying it or not. This version has more then just new characters, it has balance tweaks too. Therefore people who didn't buy it wouldnt be able to play with the people who did. Destroying online play for this game.
This version will either be a mandatory free update (HIGHLY UNLIKELY!) or a separate disc version released months from now. Yes capcom wants to make some money off of the game THEY created. Surprise.
Lol the Ibuki vortex is still there XD. And the neckbreaker didn't take that much of a nerf it looks like, she's still beastly in the right hands. I am glad.
Yun looks beastly. I thought he'd have trouble building meter but the meter build on that palm is gdlk. Even more so when you cancel out moves with it
Yun had a better player to make him look better than Yang. Yun is truely offensive, while Yang seems to have more incentive to be a defensive, reversal/counter character (Capitalizing on opponents mistakes, essentially.). Yun isn't too hot against a character great with basic ability to do damage, generally characters that aren't the same type of character as Yun (Most of the World Warriors minus the likes of Chun and Dee Jay, basically.) Shoto's are Yun's nightmare it seems, and he might have a bit more recovery on his moves than Yang. Yang seems better as a core character, while Yun is a character with more of a risk and reward type of edge, reminiscent of Makoto, Sakura, Seth, setc.
Looks like Shin Gouken's still there. I was thinking he'd be replaced by Evil Ryu.
So wait............ they took out Cammy's TK Cannon Spikes so that she wouldn't be able to build meter away from her opponent. And yet Yun can just sit back and do that double handed push move (which can block projectiles, and seems to have a lot of active frames) to gain meter. Just so that he can get a super to do his shenanigans.
WTH Capcom???????
@77
exactly what i was thinking. It doesnt just destroy her pressure game but gaining meter is gonna be a tall order for her so good luck haveing those ex drills vs heavy projectile characters.
yun builds meter way to fast with that standing hit
When is this coming to console man. Does anyone know??
Yea...don't see why yun can whore meter but they half guiles meter gain...when yuns super is sooo much more dangerous AND he can combo into ultra. I hate favoritism in games like this is all
That being said, yun and yang dont look that bad. Their divekick isnt as scary as rufus because its slower and coming from higher=easier to counter. I can just imagine ryu lp SRKing any of them straight into ultra if they use a divekick.
I sorta see these 2 as being hyped. Yuns super shouldnt do chip damage, but other than that i think he's far from being as scary as people are saying
Ty i like
