While visiting NorCal, Gootecks and Mike Ross spend a few hours in the home of SF legend John Choi and are joined by top NorCal players Filipino Champ and Ricky Ortiz. It's not a Hollywood show, not flashy or anything.
Just a calm and cool show showing that even high level tournament contestants are just regular people, that can have fun trolling and fooling around online.
It's not educational in any way, it's just simple entertainment.
they should trash talk with a headset next time. i want to hear the opponents reaction. that guile taunt had me laughing.
I think the show isn’t as funny as it used to be, especially since they play on PSN. I might be wrong, but I get the impression that most good players are on Xbox Live. Those guys they’re fighting on PSN never stood a chance whereas Gootecks and Mike lost a couples of matches when playing on Live.
I watched a minute of it and turned it off. Last thing I want to watch is Champ playing his lame D'ism online with his 2 yr old voice.
UGh.... How come I can almost sense that a reality show featuring these guys is going to be in the works? LOL.. I mean, seriously. Do we even really care about these guys? I mean this in no way offensive, but do we really care about this ? I would still like to hear about more Arcade Edition SF4. Oh well, the game gets released in like 10 days or so. I guess we will know more then

In one show they try to level up the community, break down matches, try to strengthen the community as a whole, and in the other they take a piss at people who are probably genuinely trying to be the become the best _they_ possibly can. Yes, they might not be nearly as good, but at least they're trying.

To make things clear, I'm a longtime watcher, I do like Mike & Gootecks a lot, I've got a ton of respect for them, for various reasons.
For their CrossCounter vids and the Excellent Adventure episodes shot in Canada for example.. now that is top notch stuff. I thoroughly enjoyed watching those.
I dislike the trolling episodes a lot, if only because of the whole CrossCounter <-> trolling contradiction, it's just ridiculous. I know it's all in good fun, but watching Filipino Champ being his usual cocky self, is a plain waste of time.
If this is their plan for future content, I'm happy I did not donate, even though I was planning to, but I had a feeling it would go this way, judging from the last few episodes they put up before their call for help.
Whatever happened to "exploring other countries" and thus trying to "help people step up their game".
This is really starting to look like a lot of people said it would; "hi guys, we need money to make fun of people some more, kthx".
Instead of the trolling EA's, why not record more footage at tournaments?
Take that cam of yours, and shoot stuff which actually matters at tourneys, but we don't get to see very often. Walk up to top players who just won/lost a match, ask for their reactions, what they think they could have done different,
Why not catch Spooky in action? He's always doing tons of stuff for the stream, I bet a lot of people are curious about how much work a stream can be.
Sit down for a second with tournament staff, let's see how brackets are decided, how time is being managed...
I'm far more interested in seeing things that actually contribute to a growing scene, than watching pros take on noobs, and go "lolol online scrubs" every episode.
What's the point of that except for a few chuckles?
More CC or useful EA, and less trolling EA.

I love the series. It's the best show online right now.
But out of all the episodes this is the first and the only one I haven't liked.
The guests deviate from the formula by choosing characters that they are actually proficient at. (Combofiend in the previous episode doesn't count as it seems he's proficient with every godamn char!)
But worse is the continuous s*&^7talk towards well known players. I think there is a time and a place for that, but this show isn't it.

Agreed. I don't really like F. Champs personality. I hated how he talked sh*t about Dieminion, something about beating him 5-0. But Dhalsim is a good matchup against Guile so of course it was easy for F. Champ to beat Dieminion easy.
And isn't Champ the one that stipulated that Sako couldn't use his main because he didn't want to face a bad matchup. And still he got bodied by Sako. He should learn to shut his mouth.
This episode was hilarious. Please don't get offended for the newbs. Honestly, if you don't have the humility to laugh at yourself as a 2k BP random PSN player (chances are these players don't even watch the show) then you are taking this game too seriously. Unfortunately, there are very many salty, sensitive SF players out there due to the nature of the game. And as for Dieminion and Art, whatever honestly, FCHamp is known for being a trash talker and also known for just being not very serious. It makes for good entertainment either way. Some people choose to take it super seriously and rage. I just take it with a grain of salt and laugh.
I watch this show because it reminds me of hanging with my friends back in the day. That and the obscure SF related humor that you can't find in most places, lol. For some reason I love it.
f.champ talks mess about people he counters, is out right better than, or that won't/can't physically beat him in the face. he won SoCal because, i'm betting, because it was fixed he'd play daigo so a japanese player wouldn't take it. which would have happened if tokido beat daigo. he counter picks but cries about being counter picked,has no respect for competition, and said he'd throw a match for money, he's nothing that resembles a sportsman, but guess what, he wins, he's like the rick flair of street fighter

I love that Champ and several members of the community have this idea that everybody who hates on them is just bad at street fighter. Champ did money matches at that last tournament because people were hating on him. There is no connection. People don't hate you because they think they can beat you, they hate you because you're a dick.

Filipino Champ is better than Arturo. He's proven this by beating Daigo and Justin Wong and a ton of other top players consistently WITHOUT COUNTER-PICKING like Arturo does.
@59 I agree, hate, or dislike never always relate to jelousy. No one likes an a-----e, there are people I think that are better than F.Champ and they have such a great personality and are very nice even to scrubs and noobs. I mean I don't care, but I don't enjoy watching him because he is constantly talking s--t about someone and it's not even in the most creative way. You have to be careful who you talk about, the last thing he needs is to start burning bridges.
There is no dening his skill but it's far less sweeter when he adds a sour note to it.

whats does being able to beat someone physically got to do with anything and how does he counter pick when he only plays dhalsim in good or bad match ups. Poor Vangief had to deal with ricky countering with Chun li 2x, Daigo had to deal with F.champ 2x but atleast champ doesnt switch around characters like his friend does but in turn talks alot of crap.
And about him hating on dieminion yea it aint right but he also gave him props later in the video for beating justin and whoever else and i believe he said he was one of the best guiles too around the same time, guess no one caught that? Just that dieminion has some bad habits in which F.Champ is really aiming at from the looks of it.
Him trash talking is what keeps his head in the game so he doesnt lose focus, like daigo now has his headphones, Juice Box and his dancing, Vangief the robot, Marn and taunting... its a way of focusing and possible shake the person confidence that you are fighting.
I am pretty sure these guys are not gay but it really shouuld not matter if they are. Their skill is what matters.. Besides, for the most part.. (not sure if they are all) are sponsored... So they get paid for this... I am sure most of us cannot say that about ourselves.. When it comes down to a gay person.. I do not mind them as long as they do not hit on me lol. But other than that.. gaming community people are like a 13th century crowd, they take the first possible comment or rumor and blow it up like mad. Of course they miss the last comments, they just see his trash talking and looking at his personal style and go crazy on what a, whatever, thing he is.

To met a good one at very low like 500 would be if you met someone was just trolling a account or starting a new one. For those who said "I'm glad I didn't donate because of this episode", I remember them saying that they were using the money to go to farther places in the world. They talked about plane tickets and even different countries they would visit. In this episode, they just drove from socal to norcal. So I don't see how you would think they blew the money they got from donation for just a 4 hour or more drive. So just wait. I bet the episodes will get a lot better when they start traveling to the east coast or the Eastern part of the world.

That's pretty naive. You can't say "it's only a game get, over it" because video games, basketball, football, baseball, etc. are all just games but you see people take it more than that. It's up to them to decide whether it's just a game or it's the love of their life. The only difference is the size of the fan base and video games are younger than ball games but look at starcraft. Saying "get over it" to the fans of these "nerds" is like saying "get over it" to the fans of basketball MVP's (AKA basketball nerds). It's called ENTERTAINMENT and it's part of their lives so why don't you GET OVER IT.
