well C. Viper as a character made a big impact back when sf4 was released. Character with style and fought differently than typical capcom fighters.
From the looks of it she still has a focus attack like move but shes able to absorb a crap load of hits from wolvys berserker barrage and still crumpled him. Seimoes relaunches, and her ex thunder knunckle seems to do decent chunk of damage with side effects.
What's the deal with the blurry screen for the Viper supers? It sucks! Other than that, both look sweet :)

Two solid choices, in my opinion. Viper may be a little green in the gills as far as fighting game characters go, but I think her fighting style works pretty well in an MvC environment.
Also, I love Tony's buttery-smooth pickup line in her intro video!

the combos in this game seem extraordinarily easy to pull off, I hope that's not the case or every match might come down to the first combo performed.
Storm and Magneto where the 2 reasons I stop caring and play MvC2, those 2 alone basically out-scaled every character in the game.
maybe the game maybe ain't my cup of tee, I don't know, but I hope there won't be another 80% usage of magneto/storm/random combo.

@rogeromega they are easy to pull off for the most part, but in these videos they dont show any of the recovery moves or defensive options. They like to have them lie on the ground for an extended amount of time waiting to get relaunched :P

@Troppop A lot of people keep forgetting that MvC2 was broken for so long because there was no way for these games to get a cheap update until now. So the community just excepted the brokeness of the game for the last 10 years as the norm and was humbly excepted. Mvc3 im afraid caters to the casual market, it's not trying to be broken but rather trying to fake the cheapness found in MvC2 where in that game they actually tried to make the game balanced, which did'nt turn out well.
Funny how that works.
Magneto and Storm being playable in MvC3 does not mean they are gonna be 100% like their MvC2 counterpart, different models, different engine soooo take from it what you will.

Magneto && Storm. Just need one more character to finish the infamous team. Anyways, I'm not surprised about storm being in the game. But C.Viper though? Wow, actually happy about that. She looks more interesting than her sf4 counterpart. She has all of the same moves as sf4. I wonder is she can still SJC and SJC into moves? I doubt it. I had a huge feeling Burning Dance was going to be her lvl 3 but this version of it is boring but does way more damage than the ssf4 version. They added an extra kick to her Emergency Combination super, idk y though. Burst Time looks the same. She has a focus attack lol and it looks like it can absorb multiple hits. She also has her ex moves also. She's going to be a tournament player in mvc3 as well as ssf4 lol. I think I may main her

I bet it was hard for Capcom to include Viper in this game (sarcasm). Every move in these trailers are exactly from SSFIV. Two supers of hers are FROM SSFIV. One is her super and the other is her U1. After seeing the first two supers, I thought her third super is her U2. Nope they decided to change it up.
Viper looks pretty decent. Not big on the look of her moves, but she has some powerful looking tools. multi hit absorbing Focus Attack is nice, tho I suspect it's unsafe as hell or has some draw back if you are keen to it coming up. Most importantly her dash attack goes through projectiles full screen, giving her some nice punish options. I also like that her ground special spikes high enough to hit air. Also noticed she has a tri jump.
Storm looks very toned down in terms of speed and damage. But we'll see, she seems like she has a lot of lockdown potential that might make up for it.
Also notice we finally see MODOKS block in action.
Well, I'm not a fan of C. Viper (I would have prefer Juri instead), but she seems to be a good character in MVC3.
Storm looks great, and so far, she plays exactly the same as MVC2. That's not a bad thing, considering this time the game has a better balance and she has an unique fighting style.
I just hope some day Capcom would finally reveal a Mega Man character for this game (Even if I prefer Classic, at this point, I don't care which one we'll get)

So glad that Viper made it in, she's a perfect choice. Looks like a strong character too with how fast those Seismos are, plus that they OTG.
Storm still looks pretty fearsome. Her BnB is intact, Ice Storm is still a nasty OTG and a free DHC switch.
I'm not sold on the gameplay yet, because I didn't like the gameplay feel of MvC2, from what I tried after downloading a PSN demo, what I see here is a step in the wrong direction, where they give characters attributes the actors and actresses doing the work can't 'deliever' on, in a sense it loses credibility, I personally think Storm would've been hotter with smaller, more centered (petite) boobs, and seeing how C.Viper went from a fairly normal chest to a Heidi Montag clone I don't know the whole thing just seems like something I'd rather turn my back on, the whole 'get big boobs to get more attention' is getting old and very annoying, I'd rather they'd stayed true to the characters from before, when things weren't so exaggerated but more peaceful and accepting of less-than-ABSOLUTE perfect human beings, even among superheroes, compare Christopher Reeves in the early Superman movies, he looked normal compared to say the Rock, but hey steroids and boob jobs ftw x(

These two characters made me go from a must-buy to an if, depending on what happens next, it might go either way, Mortal Kombat is starting to look good in comparison imo

While I agree to a certain extent about their chests, I don't see how two busty women suddenly stop the game from being a must-buy. I personally don't care how big their chests are (as long as they aren't completely absurd). Maybe I'm not getting the full story, but it sounds terribly fickle to me.
Oh, and I don't know what you're talking about regarding Storm's eyes. I'm not very familiar with the comic book scene as a whole, but I'm pretty sure Storm is far from stupid (if that's what you're getting at).

I am glad to see that a "brand new" character to the Street Fighter universe (C.Viper) has become so popular in not only Street Fighter, but as well as MVC3. I am sure she is going to be a favorite. I do not use her at all as I just cannot get a rhythym with her, but players have certainly proven she is high tier. Congrats to those who wanted to see her in MVC3!!!

Anyone who says they're not buying this game because of Storm or C. Vipers rack is either a 'hardcore' feminist or an imbecile...although there's not much of a difference between the two...okay no difference at all really. If you're not gonna buy the game at least have a GOOD reason, if you're judging by the appearance of a character you're not helping anyone see you in a good light which is counterproductive to anything you might be trying to get across.
Anyway...anyone else notice how on the new stage you can see mist forming in front of the characters' mouth suggesting that it's cold? That's a nice detail right there.

Good Vipers are beast in SSF4. Shes just VERY execution heavy, so not alot of people are great with her.

lvl1 = electricity
lvl3 = freeze and then whirlwind
Whoever says c.viper is low tier is retarded and if anything...THIS IS A COMPLETELY different game. mehcanics are completely different and moves have different properties...add in the depth teams has and you can't make any solid assumptions until you play.

Come on, MK has had the oversized breasts thing goin way before Capcom even did 3d fighters. I agree with you to an extent but I understand where Capcom comes from. TBH Viper in numbers has the 2nd largest rack in SSFIV and in official artwork you see them looking much larger than they do in game. Know enough about her and you'll understand that Capcom's C. Viper model is a little off because her boobs aren't big enough when compared to the numbers they give. One more thing, as a character they try to portray as 'show-offy' how would you not expect them to make her boobs bigger when transferring her into a world that mimicks the style of western comics? I don't know how much Marvel/DC/Top Cow you read but I'm pretty used to lusciously portrayed women and not much else.
@154: Not everyone has a level 3, but everyone has three hyper combos. Since Storm's Freeze+Whirlwind hyper combo doesn't have the musical sting that accompanies level 3 moves, I assume it's not a level 3. A pretty good number of the characters don't have level 3s, maybe even a majority.
So happy that Viper is in it. Now I can switch from SSFIV to MvC early next year without having to turn down my main.

I don't know if anyone has realized this, but if you look at the last vid that shows them fighting on a stage that looks like Japan with the statue in it. When a player jumps in the background you can see the ninjas. They are not ordinary ninjas they a RED NINJAS from the Ninja clan The HAND!!!! Could this mean that ELECKTRA will be in the game?
c.viper was modeled after sharon from sf ex 2 from what it says on wikipedia.

So far Ryu is the only character from my team that made it over to MVC3. I guess I got to rebuild two new teams from scratch again. If Juri and Pyslocke were on the game I would be satisfied with the female selection for this game thats if Elecktra has a somewhat similar play style to pyslocke that would be great as well, if she will be on the game. No cyclops, Iceman, Marrow, or Megaman revealed yet and no powerstone characters.
I will still love this game regardless though just got to start over again :(

That would be awesome if they'll add a game mode called like "infinite mode" ; in this u start with 3 random characters, when one dies he is replaced by another random one. It will make very long fight and let everyone play every characters.

That thing with the ice that freezes around you is not a lvl 3. If you watch the gameplay video, it shows that she only uses one bar when she finishes off Viper with it.

HIghly Doubtful, but it be great if they added Ibuki as the 3S character. Target Combo for days!!!!!. I dont see how her Neck Breaker would play into the MvC play style though. Pretty much a pause in momentum.

Also, all the people asking for such-and-such street fighter character, I really honestly hope this is the last of the Street Fighter reps. MVC2's roster was a littler oversaturated with them(Even if nobody used them), and I'd hate to see MVC3 end up the same way.

I will still be getting this game but honestly, the more I see of this game the less and less I even feel like playing it. First of all a lot of the character choices on the marvel side look pretty dissapointing and boring. Also it might be due to the fact that so many of the "rumors choices" which I thought sucked have ended up being true and have therefore not left me suprised nor impressed!
Besides that the gameplay looks to have been slowed down way too much for my liking, say what you may but the insane speed of MVC2 is kind of what added to the hype and mystique and craziness of that game, removing the speed has made it look like any other fighting game to me!
And also the noob friendly controls which I find cringeworthy, I mean Jesus, if you cant press down or diagonal down towards with a kick or punch to launch your opponent maybe you shouldn't be playing this game you should be playing pokemon or something of that sort. To me even that doesn't take a lot of skill but still requires it but my point is that in a fighting game skillful players must be rewarded for having good controls, dexterity and what not and less skillful players shouldn't. I certainly dont want this to go in the direction of the budokai series where you could pull of earth shattering moves that drained half or more of your opponents life with one button and it seems to have gone in this direction to me!
I'm still getting it but it has certainly dropped from my "must get and marking off days till it' release" to a simple "must get"!

At least there won't be any retarded hair triggered shortcuts and 1 Frame Reversal Windows in this game. Heard from players from the recent MvC3 play locations that tried it out and this game has neither of those shortcuts or a scrubby reveral window, its not done by the SF4 team :)
The game may have some simplistic button layout, but this game is definitely not going to be a scrub-friendly game. MvC3 is going to be heavily depended on long combos, zoning, lockdowns, and assists. The main reasons why a lot of scrubs hated MvC2.

this stage may represent the Elektra or/and Silver Samurai, but also akuma too.
Look in the far right of the stage, from 38 seconds, appear some wood in the shape of the symbol that akuma is in back.

SWEET the roster for this game is filling out nicely.... And so is C. Viper. Anyway it great that c viper has joined the ranks with her super power suit in. all although she does a crap load damage in this game still I'm sure they will balance that out before the game comes out. They will defiantly have to do it for storm. Her normal combos did more damage than one of her hypers it was kinda weird still im sure they will fixing the big things like damage. I also like how C.Viper fights almost exactly how she did in sf4 (Bring in focus attacks) Which really makes the game feel like a unification of mvc2 ssf4 and tvc. But there were a few thing that made me angry the first is cvipers trailer and how game spot couldn't fix the filter before release. second is how were going with the newer version of storm instead of her classic look that every one knows and loves. Seriously if you didn't know who storm was she would kind off came off slutty

I know this is OT, but just for the record, the big reversal window in SF4 may annoy some people but it's not as big of a deal as some try to make it sound. Lots of old school fighters had big reversal windows and nobody complained about it. Games like MSH, X-Men COTA and pretty much all the old vs. series, IIRC the Darkstalkes series also had a very lenient reversal window, except maybe for the first one. Some SNK games too, like RB Fatal Fury 2, in that game you could literally let go the joystick during block strings and then do a reversal move like half a second before the block string actually ended. That's just off the top of my head, I'm sure there are lots of other examples of games with lenient reversal window.
The point is, SF4 didn't invented that crap, it may be annoying sometimes but it's not a big deal. If it annoys you so much then don't play the game. Simple.
Man, I am at a all time low about this game now. Bison doesn't look like he is in this game. They have a Akuma like stage in this game, and Viper has been announced. Man I promise Capcom doesn't know how to do things right anymore. I wonder what happened to them? How could Akuma be the villain working with Wesker? Umm... look, it's great if you don't like her design or whatever, that's your opinion. And maybe she isn't the greatest person, but the thing is, neither are Bison, Vega, Balrog, Juri, Seth, etc. Are you against ALL the villains/morally ambiguous characters?
A while back you said she wasn't "endearing" like the other females. I believe you said Sakura and/or Ibuki were endearing because they were naive and innocent or something. If you can only appreciate cute, innocent little girls, but men can be as evil as they want, then you come off as sexist. Where does Juri stand in all of this?
Also, just a note, but I can't recall a situation in which Viper was particularly condescending or money-grubbing. I really would like to see where you're getting all of this. Well, SF4 and SSF4 is basically the same game, so we won't be seeing Juri or Hakan. SF3 Must be Akuma, no bad guy yet reping capcom. Also, Viper is not a waste of a slot! She's hot, stop crying you homos! With Storm and Magneto in... If psyloke is in shall we see the return of MSP? We will see in time. Also in the video of Viper and Storm, there seems to be a new stage, I think the stage belongs to "Elektra". What do you guys think?
True I hope Capcom spreads its characters, honestly I'd hope for another bad guy from capcom's side mostly from the megaman series like Bass or Sigma or something But more like I'd want to see more bad guys from capcom's side

@293: If there's a SF villain to come into this game, it's going to most likely be M. Bison, not Akuma. Akuma is simply a clone off of Ryu in gameplay, so fat chance that he'll make it into this one. Plus no Megaman on this list is automatic fail. Did you even hear about the news about the voice actor for Megaman in this game a while ago? Capcom's not insane to leave out one of their most popular mascots for this game.
Plus, I think the reason why C. Viper is in this one is to replace Captain Commando, because not only will they have to remodel him, but also to remodel Jennety, Sho, & Hoover as well, & that'll take a lot of time, & work just to remodel all four characters. It's like trying to work on the fantastic four, which is why Super Skrull got in instead & to have all four of their powers rolled into one character.
Yeah these lists don't mean much at all - MODOK was on none of them before he was announced - the rest of the characters are all wild guesses.
C. Viper is looking downright deadly, Seismo Hammer seems to be an excellent move from these videos. Storm looks like she's gonna be high tier again.

Fair enough. Yeah, I can't really imagine an Akuma/Wesker alliance happening either. If anything I think Akuma would more than likely try to best Wesker in a fight, although that's assuming Wesker couldn't somehow trick Akuma into working him (I.E. telling him Gouken is working with the heroes, etc.). I put too much thought into these things as you can see.
Seeing as I'm not one to speculate, I'll just wait with bated breath until Feburary 15th and take every announcement with stride.

You do of course realize you contradicted yourself to the utmost degree? First you say he's wrong by saying nobody ever said anything about movesets...then you go on to list characters are technically ARE clones via moveset. As the illustrious Gene Wilder once said: You lose, good day sir.
Let me try to make this simple:
Literal Clone = A genetic copy or double
Fighting Game Clone = Characters with VERY similar movesets.
X-23 and Shulk are clones in the literal sense, but they fight nothing like their male counterparts.

I don't mean control per se as much as I mean trying to make a temporary alliance of sorts, kind of a 'Seeing as I'm fighting against these guys finding Ryu will be easy and I can just leave him to you' type thing. Like I said, I can't really see it happening either, I just figured I'd throw it out there (as MvC3 isn't cannon to any series anyway) and I'm aware Akuma isn't a villain as much as an antagonistic rival of sorts.

@338, 337, etc etc everyone comparing Viper to Commando: I'm kind of tired of hearing the bullsh*t "Oh Viper is exactly like Captain Commando" thing. Visually, yes, her moves are like Commando's. Functionally, they're very different. The only moves that are similar in both looks and function are the flame kick, but Commando's will go right across the screen while Viper's more or less stays in place.
The ground pound move: Viper's is a low hitting explosion at different ranges without much vertical range. Commando's is a frikken COLUMN OF ELECTRICITY THAT SHOOTS STRAIGHT UP WHERE HE STANDS. Visually similar, functionally different.
The electric fist is a real stretch. Viper's is a punch. Commando's is a fullscreen projectile-like attack. Again, visually similar, but functionally different.
Flaming kick we already discussed.
Honestly, it's stupid. I can accept that maybe Viper's moves were inspired by Commando, but they're nothing alike at all beyond that. Jesus christ you'd think none of you have ever actually played either game.
Did anyone notice that in the C Viper announcement video, at :35, when she did the focus attack against Wolverine, she lost almost 1/4 of her life.
This is just my theory but I think the focus attack will be able to stop all attacks (except maybe grab), but you will not be able to gain back your life. Because after Wolverine got crumpled, C Viper's life was not returning. Now I'm not sure if you will be able to cancel FA with a dash but at the very least, I think there's gonna be a lot of risk for using an FA with Viper.
@280 I'm not against all the morally ambiguous characters because the difference between them and Viper is that they're actually still likeable despite this. Bison has a huge fan following because let's just face it, his smiling ambition is infectious. Vega has a large following because he's a neat character, an example of a classy psychopath. Juri is crazy and evil, that may be, but she's also quite sexy and cute, her seductiveness is what makes her endearing. Balrog is just funny. And Seth... well, Seth sucks balls too, but his personality and character design are just bad and poorly-thought out, as opposed to Viper's which actively go out of their way to infuriate you.

Granted, DMC2 had some serious flaws about it, Lucia was a welcome addition to the cast of femme fatales that DMC is known for. Lets face it, that woman could kick some A$$! She was wicked acrobatic and fluid with lethal kicking attacks. I would love to see her in another DMC or as a DLC character if not a roster pick. I know the chances are slim, but I enjoyed playing her and Nero from DMC4. It would be awesome to play them again. She a huge part in why DMC2 didnt suck so bad for me LOL.

At any rate, I tried to lace my post with as many "if"s and "I think"s as I could, 'cause I wasn't entirely sure about what you actually said (I don't really want to wade through comments from like a month ago).
Sorry if I was too harsh regarding the sexist thing, but that's just based off of what I remembered. It seemed like you were insulting Viper for being mean while all the "good" girls got a free pass. You see Viper's personality as something infuriating, I just go "Oh, she has an attitude. Cool."
The thing is, endearing means different things to different people. I don't find Bison, Balrog, and Seth particularly likeable, for example (though if there's going to be a Capcom villain in this, I'm hoping it's Bison). I personally care more about design and playstyle in fighting games, as opposed to the paper-thin, stereotypical personalities fighters tend to have.
I'm fairly certain a lot of the cast can be condescending (intentionally or not) in their win quotes because that's what win quotes tend to be. I mean, I think Zangief beats up Rufus and then calls him fat. I don't play Viper (let alone win with her when I do), and I don't notice win quotes as often as I'd like, so I wasn't too sure.
My whole point, at the end of the day, is probably to just lighten up! I find it baffling how much hate you spew over a fictional character. It takes all kinds, and I don't see how "woman with a superiority complex" is any worse than "angry, greedy boxer," "psychotic kinky girl" and "evil dictator."

Altho I hated DMC2 with a passion, I have to admit Lucia was one character I wished Capcom would have expanded on. I enjoyed her Puesdo-Angelic design most of all; it was a good contrast to Dante's Demonic form. Are you really going to deny that?
You also have to remember that not all of Viper's fans are claiming she's some wonderful role model. Some people simply like her style/gameplay (like me). I really don't care about her personality, hence my total lack of knowledge about these so-called tirades. The fact that she has a daughter doesn't really change much for me, but I like it because a) it gives her a little more humanity (regardless of how underdevelopped it is), and b) her "Sorry, Mommy's at work. My analysis of the game thus far is that the roster is looking incredibly balanced to the point where the possibility of a overpowered, gimped and overall broken team shouldn't be a problem. Thankfully we live in a time where patches and nerfing will remedy any kind of unfairness that the game could possibly have. In short this whole Magneto and Storm thing hopefully won't be a problem.

Even after she statistically proved to be alongside Rufus in the least played character in ranked matches, she somehow manages to make it into this game.
Oh well, on the otherhand, out of the new SFIV cast members (Rufus, Abel, El) she certainly fits this game the best. She actually seems MORE fitting for this game then SFIV.
I would have killed a small child for Rufus to be in this game though. Sigh, I knew it would never happen though.

If you didn't see Storm coming into this game, you obviously DON'T see alot of pro MvC2 matches. On the contrary, Storm is very popular among the fanbase, hell, even for the people who play the Marvel Ultimate Alliance series, she is very well known and a fan favorite.

1. She's popular amongst MvC players an popular in tournament play because she's so freakin OP. If she wasn't you can bet this wouldn't be the case.
2. Fan favorite in ultimate alliance? Ya, ok... I'd like too see proof of that other then you just saying it's true. I played both ultimate alliances and never once saw someone play her online in UA2. Not once... and I followed the game and was a frequent visitor on the forums. Nothing hinted at her being one of the more popular characters.
She just isn't that popular anymore, no where near as much as she was back in the 90's/early 2000, the height of X-men popularity.
Don't get me wrong! I don't think she is a wasted character spot (while not a huge fanbase, she does have enough backing to warrant a spot), I just think they could have picked a more modernly relevant character that could really stand out. Like Luke Cage, Nick Fury, or Loki.

She has the most infuriating character possible, and that's all there is to it; there is no other way to describe her, hence why it seems like I'm repeating myself. Zangief isn't really the type to insult people, nor are many of the other characters, even some of the evil ones. That's not a defining part of their personalities. It is however a defining trait of Viper, that's exactly how they wanted her to act, that's how she'll act in every incarnation we see of her. She is a classic example of a total bitch that I'd throw down a flight of stairs the very first chance I got.

Man... there are plenty of non-cliche characters who'd be awful people in real life. It just doesn't make sense to compare fictional characters to real people.
While I might have been a little hostile at times, I think I laid out my points clearly and rationally (for the most part, at least), while you ranted and called people names. Also, I'm pretty sure throwing someone down a flight of stairs is, like, you know, wrong, even if the victim is a pain. Here's hoping you're just exaggerating...

i hope that fire effect that viper does isnt going to be in the actual game... it won't stop me from playing, but it'll just be annoying....especially if two people playing against eachother both pick her...

The bottom line is this, whereas all the other Capcom females have likeable personalities, Viper is the black sheep of them all, she is the only one who is absolutely detestable and it's sickening to see her in this game. They are honoring a terrible character that should be shamed and hidden.

Yes, i was skeptical too when they were gonna put viper in that game but once I saw the gameplay, they did a lot of good things with her. Also stfu, viper is not a useless charcter. Her mixups are phnominal and she can be very fun to play as. I main in her so Im glad shes that important. Hopefully she'll be in Street Fighter X Tekken

But if you say it in front of marns face or me or anybody else in that matter. I'm 90% sure someone is going to retaliate. These are some of the reasons I like Viper. I'm not trying to change anyone's mind or anything, but just throwin it out there.
-I remember during Cammy's ending in SF4 where Viper could have easily shot her, but she decides not too. Even though there wasn't anything to lose.
-Since she is a CIA agent, it is possible she could be killed off any day and lose her daughter, but she is so confident and skilled that she know that will probably not happen.
-Viper's gadgets are not cheap. They are as much a part of her as Ryu's hadouken and Guile's sonic booms are parts of them. (Besides Vega has a claw and Cody has a knife.)
