This is where Wesker really gets interesting. He can teleport air to ground (Video 1 – :22), ground to air into his aerial rave finisher for some overhead combo starting action (Video 1 – :24), and ground to ground for some wicked mix-up games (Video 1 – :35). It looks a lot more useful than Akuma’s Ashura Senkuu teleport, it’s not just a free escape, and I’m wondering if you’ll ever actually be seeing Wesker on-screen if he’s being used by a pro.
Wesker seems like a great character, actually, most of the MVC3 list are full of beasts. MODOK and Dorm seem annoying but NOWHERE near the cable/sentinel/Blackheart type players. And If I was giving those players trouble with my charlie and low tier characters in mvc2, I'ma be ranked high this time around!!! Maybe these kids will actually pick characters they like now haha...
Just don't make assumptions... I remember the "Dudley is going to be the new sagat" bs.
I dont need to read this article to know wesker is going to be party of my team :3
I was thinking his teleport was similar to Strider's 4 way teleport. Just with practically zero startup and alot less recovery. Hope he does well, I know he'll be one of the first guys I try out when I get the game. I think my very first team will be Wesker/Spencer/Trish.
What about you guys?
His teleports are similar to the spiral teleports from MvC2 just quicker which is better.
Wesker, Magneto, M.Bison (hopefully) is gonna be my team.
I think I'll be using Morrigan, Wesker, Amaterasu. There's probably no synergy in that team but that's who i WANT to use! Hopefully that's how the game will be played opposed to just using 'top tier' characters
It's funny how people are already "analyzing" each character each time they play the beta version of the game. Betas do not replicate the actual game when it's released. Things will be changed. To say Wesker's tp is godlike, etc. Well once Capcom realizes his tp is OP, you can rest assure they will change it. If people realizes a certain move is "godlike," I say keep it to yourself for now before Capcom changes it for the final product. Capcom has their game testers to look for flaws and balance issues. Well to be honest, the people who will be playing the game (i.e. everyone else who doesn't work for Capcom) are the best game testers out there. Over time, us players will spend more time on this game than the testers who worked on the game during development and discover all the flaws, OP moves, glitches, etc that Capcom didn't catch.
vipers in the game no doubt about it. not only has marn confirmed it in his last video, but they also had a silhouette of viper earlier this year for mvc3. Yea man she's in it. wesker viper chris and resident evil team: wesker chris jill. I can't wait man...
Weskers taunt is in this video but Tron doesn't like people who taunt!!

anyways since people are saying the teams they will use from the roster shown so far, what about your past teams if you've played before the other Marvel games?
X-Men Cota, Cyclops
Msh, Spider-Man
XvSF team Cyclops,Gambit
MshvSF team Cyclops,Spider-Man
Mvc1 Mega Man Spider-Man, alternate spidy with Gambit (Cyclops assist)
mvc2 team Cyclops Tron Mega Man,(switch Tron for Spidey and Gambit)
mvc3 team, Morrigan Tron Spider-Man (if mega man is revealed ill put him as my first character and arrange the team around, same as Cyclops which i have doubts but oh well mvc3 coming real soon =)

I think it's really fun to hypothesize and speculate on what character's are going to be like in the game. Of course every analysis should be taken with an enormous, world record sized grain of salt. I haven't played the game though, just watched too many of the videos... Heh.
Don't let Wesker fool you, he'll be fairly easily shut down and his abilities will only be useful when facing specific characters of the cast. He'll be pretty limited in aerial mobility, with a lack of airdash or double jump, so he would have to rely on teleports. This being said, this is bad for multiple reasons. One, while the teleports are seemingly pretty safe, Wesker has no grapples or anything like a get off me setup special to aid him while being pressured. I can guarantee that if fighting a competant opponent, every teleport he makes will be contested, not a free combo or special probably, but he'll take some chip damage. This said, after being forced to block, Wesker's gonna be at a disadvantage, since nearly every character in the cast can pressure him and force him to play defensively unless he gets a lucky counter or catches them in recovery frames (Projectile, hyper, otherwise.). If he must capitalize on these sort of mistakes, he's in trouble, because MvC3 naturally doesn't have too much start up or recovery on any move, whoever's playing Wesker's gonna have to be very crucial.
Two, going back to my comment about chip damage, Wesker has low health, and has very limited projectile potential, even when relying on assists, the likes of Dormammu, Arthur and such will murder him.
Three, if Wesker is facing already up close characters like Hulk, Thor, Spencer, he has very little hope. Against grapplers, a teleport means a free command grab (Depending on how MvC3 handles throw ranges.) and a free combo which will absolutely murder Wesker's low health. He would have to utilize a zoning game with his normals, which sounds unsuccessful, to be honest. Or if not a zoning game, a counter game that means the most damaging combo Wesker can use. Not very damaging, considering that Wesker does not do very good damage. I can only see Wesker foing good in a situation where he's fighting a character similar to himself, Wolverine, Dante, Spidey, Felicia, that sort.
So, tl;dr Wesker has bad mobility, meaning that keepaway characters will shut him down unless he can catch them doing unsafe things. Also, he can't fight characters that are heavy hitters either, because he'll just be thrown and combo'd. Wesker will be SSF4's Dudley, shut down by keepaways and shut down by heavy hitters, therefore sucking against most of the cast.

Wesker actually does have an unblockable grab that he can combo out of. Quarter circle back and attack. I still think his teleports are going to be very very dangerous especially when you start throwing in assists but everything remains to be seen.
^ Oh? Well that changes everything against the heavy hitters and the keepaway gangs. He'll be able to be played like Seth in how he can teleport, grapple, and pressure the opponent from there, since every grab is a free combo. Also, with a grab, that means that Wesker can PROBABLY punish those who attempt to safe chip him off a teleport. If not, I pray for him. That said, seems like more of a solid character with a solid gameplan, unlike the likes of...say, Skrull (Great character with very little focus on a style of play.) and Dante (All utility, almost no focus except rushdown, core stats suck.).

@16 I'm pretty sure that's not his taunt, but his counter special move ( like Gouken's )... thus why he tossed it twice while in the corner when he had low health
so far i have deadpool, super skrull and wesker set as my mains.
I'm gonna try out every character first until I settle on my main team! That being said, my alpha team might just be X-23, Dante, and Thor.
No matter what foe i face I will aim for glory with Wesker and perhaps take over the world. I don't believe in tier list or the overuse possibilities. The matter a fact is that you have the skills to defeat a opponent. Regardless of the match up.
Team Of: Chris Redfield/Wesker/Thor See me in on the Xbox 360 GT JMJ X
He is going to be MODOK's biggest counter!
