Many people have been arguing with the appearance of Oni Akuma and Evil Ryu in Super Street Fighter 4 Arcade Edition, what their official Capcom names were. Seth: Ahh, but that would be telling. Even way back in his first appearance, was “Evil Ryu” really Ryu at all? His warrior’s heart was swallowed up by the dark hadou, and what is Ryu without that pure-hearted drive? Is Darth Vader really Anakin Skywalker? All will be revealed!
Oni or Shin Akuma, Evil Ryu? What's your opinion on the matter? Feel free to speculate below, until an official answer surfaces in the future.

Why is Seth acting like we care about the story? Just add characters people have been asking for. To really try to add some canon to the clusterf#$k that is SFIV is ridiculous. Even if these two characters aren't playable atm they will be later. Hopefully we see a time released Karin and Rolento...

I don't think you truly understand how long me and so many others have been waiting for Evil Ryu to be playable in the new generation please DO NOT let us down guys because we all want to see that Ultra named Wrath of Metsu Raging Shoryuken Demon Armaggedon Hadoken...wow just imagine the input to such a move you would need 2 fight sticks I'm serious though guys make this happen for the fans (and for Wrath of Metsu Raging Shoryuken Demon Armaggedon Hadoken)
Shin or Oni Akuma
Shin Akuma is just Akuma, who ONLY got more evil. Matter of fact, why create a Shin Akuma in the first place? he is already enraged and flaming just being plain akuma. whats the point of having more rage and look slightly meaner?
Evil Ryu
Evil Ryu is just Ryu, only now he is at Akumas stage 1. He hs "transcended" as Akuma likes to say it. Swallowed by Evil or hadou, whatever.
BUT WHY OH WHY PUT THE SAME CHARACTERS INTO THE TWICE???? Oni Akuma is Akuma, only more evil. SAME CHARCTER. Evil Ryu is Ryu only more evil. SAMER CHARACTER. Devil Jin is Jin, only more evil. SAME CHARACTER!!!!! WHHYYY. waste of spots.
Nevertheless, since there is no way back now, i wonder how they will play compaired to their normal counterpart. Will they be overpowered and make their originals obsolete? will they have drawbacks compaired to their originals? all that and more...stay uned

As you can see, the evilness increases with the name. On here, regular Akuma and Evil Ryu are on the same level, but then Akuma has to always be a step ahead and go Oni Akuma. This is the way i see it. BUT, still they are the same characters after all.
If they were gonna put in another shoto, they should put in Violent Ken. Let him get some shine. How many versions of Akuma do we need!? Let Gouken go krazy dark evil or something. Give us a twist instead of Evil/Shin all the time. Boooo!
I always consider Evil Ryu as a what-if, a version of Ryu who has succumbed to the Satsui no Hadou and embraces it desiring nothing more than to destroy just like with Anakin bcoming Darth Vader giving into the dark side.
As for Akuma though, him in the regular black Gi is a warrior who fights only if his opponents proves to be a challenge. Despite this, I feel he has a code meaning that he won't fight anyone weak. As for Shin Akuma aka Akuma with purple gi is Akuma at full power meaning he'll unleash his fury upon you and from previous experiences dealing with Shin Akuma especially in Alpha 3, it's no exception.
honestly its fighting game history. remember back when all games did this or most fighting games. take a popular character and beefing them up. like nightmare from soul edge and countless others. just be cool with the fact that maybe u can kick the crap out of ryu with ryu would be funny. but im sure there not that strong either with all the user friendly adjustments there making in AE.
I'm still convinced they're both practically reskins with tweaked attributes who only appear in arcade mode, but I could be wrong. I wouldn't mind them if they actually play differently. Oni Akuma could have Misogi for all I know. I'd actually love to see Evil Ryu be more brutal and aggressive to augment his savage appearance.

you guys don't understand capcoms hustle. if they give us charlie alex karin rolento and all those characters you want in AE who else are they going to put in sfxt? then you will all complain that its just characters taken from sfiv either way so its better saving some characters for the future and i bet after sf3 online we are going to get alpha 3 online as well and see who gets picked from sf 2, 3, 4 and alpha series.

It's the first of the serie and a clash of icons , so they'll pick the regular cast for both , and maybe , at 2-3 oddballs and new guys for each sides at best .

Capcom retconned that Gouken has survived his battle with Akuma and is still alive. With Gouken alive then there's no point of Ryus quest to avenge his master. It's like if Darth Vader didn't really kill Obi wan Kenobi. So, Seth, how is Ryu going to turn to the dark side with Gouken alive?
Evil versions are always pointless and just for fun for a very short period. I remember when I activated Evil Ryu and Shin Akuma in CvS 2. I played them both for ONE day and never touched them ever since. I hardly doubt Capcom and the SF team will add something where it's going to last a few days. My guess is it's a new ultra for Ryu and Akuma where they activate to become evil with a timer, like Juri's U1.
I'd honestly rather see some character that bridges Seth and Urien/Gill. If story is so important, explain why the hell Balrog is currently playing guide dog to some kid with a glow-in-the-dark Shadaloo sticker on his hand.
I swear if I see a Red, White and Blue Basketball, I'm going to flip because I want to use Second Impact Sean again
So is Seth trying to tell us that he won't be the same character as in a powered up version of Ryu(aka why he's putting so much empathize on ryu being a product of his pure hearted ways)?
I just hope that they would play differently from the usual shoto movesets. I mean Gouken was a refreshing brake from all the fireballs, uppercuts and spinning kicks... If it's just making them faster and hit harder then, please, just don't bother...

That Misogi move along with his Air Metsu Hadouken should have been given to the standard Akuma in the first place as an Ultra 2 combo and Super move respectively. I don't know why Capcom felt the need to include 2 useless Raging Demons when 1 suffice or that crappy Tazmania inspired Ultra move, when they could have used any one of his numerous existing Super moves. His Kongou Kukuretsu Zan comes to mind, in fact it's in the game, but this animation was wasted as his victory pose.
Anyway, his Air Metsu Hadouken could have worked as a super. A Super cancel to his Tatsumaki, like in MvC2, would have been sick. While his Misogi + KKZ could have been interesting as an Ultra 2 combo, keeping his Raging Demon intact as his Ultra1 combo. But alas Capcom suck.

Im a PROUD SF fan that read the mangas and i saw all SF animes. I love SF storyline and cant wait to see what E.Ryu and O.Akuma will offer in the game. Just because you no-life scrubs dont like em no-one gives you the right to bash them around. You faggs kill the community.

Haven't we already gone through this ridiculous topic of "Wanting new characters" in previous blogposts?
First, if I am to repeat myself as well: Stop whining for new characters if you don't even play the lots of fighters already in the game!
Secondly, alot of people don't seem to understand the post at all. the SF-staff has their level of trolling answers but what alot of people seem to miss, is that he actually has some truth in his post. Evil Ryu is not the same as Ryu. To copy his comparison, is Darth Vader really anything like Anakin Skywalker? (Yes, they are the same, SPOILER!...)
Third, Is it just me being mean here or do people actually see shotos as a threat? It's not like sf2 where you can lock out people. Shotos are Ultra punishable by alot of characters, almost full screen, it lets you charge ultra faster (Absorb shots) etc.
So stop whining and actually play the game, to it's full extent instead of going half-assed for a character and cry out because you can't get around a damn shot.
You lot that whine about shotos and new characters, I find no reason what so ever to your reasoning. Once again, it's just stupid, immature and very very greedy.
It's Shin Akuma and Evil Ryu. They redesigned them to differentiate from there alternates and colors.

Oni are kinda like Japanese demons. Akuma obviously looks more demonic than human in this, so calling him Oni Akuma isn't like some kind of bizarre word someone slapped on because they thought it was cool. He really does look like a demon.
